QUARANTINE PROJECT Part 8: Call Of The Void

- So this song is a favorite of mine. And theres a bit of a story to it as well:
I had been suggested the album ‘The Slow Light’ on Spotify by an artist I had never heard of called ‘All India Radio’, and it became one of my favorite albums I had heard in ages. I just absolutely fell in love with it, and in particular, a song called ‘Can You Hear The Sound’ which defined a whole piece of the year it came out for me.
When I left DTP, I went to Sweden to just clear my head and spend some time with friends, and during which, I learned the chords and structure to ‘Can You Hear The Sound’ and began jamming it with Morgan. It ended up being a lovely moment in time for me which I then mixed with Mattias at his house while he laid down some cool melodies.
I contacted Martin (All India Radio) on Twitter this week and asked if he would mind if I released this for the Quarantine Project and he agreed, so I made a quick video for it and I hope you like it. the term ‘Call Of The Void’ was one that I heard referring to that sensation when your driving beside a cliff and have a strange fear that at any moment you may just hurl yourself over.
Please listen to ‘The Slow Light’ by All India Radio and hear the original song I took this inspiration from. The structure is verbatim for the most part, and I thank Martin for writing such a lovely song and such a meaningful record to me. Thank you for being cool enough to let me share this tribute to his song. It was really an important piece of music in my life. Can You Hear The Sound: • All India Radio - Can ...
Some days are harder than others, I had a rough one yesterday, but we’re still holding on. Be well my friends, I wish you love and peace.

Call Of The Void
Shapeshifter, to the weary eyed…
With nothing left we take it all and run and hide
Take a walk down by the river
Revelations,
Paranoia.
And the thoughts that pull us under…are they calling?
Collide
Into your interior
You doubted for so long it took control
You can call me when you’re frightened
You can call me paranoid
Let the thoughts keep coming hear them now, hear them now, hear the sound
Take a walk down by the river
Revelations or paranoia
All the thoughts that pull you under are the call of the void
You can call me when you’re ready
You can call me paranoia
If the thoughts keep coming
Hear them now, hear them now
Hear the sound
So take a walk down by the river
Revelations or paranoia
Don’t let your thoughts now pull you under

Hello my human buddies...glad to be sharing this wonderful music with you. Stay safe, stay healthy, stay home ❤❤
Little song big mood :D
Came back to this version after the Lightwork version. What a totally different feel.
Yeah I vastly prefer this one.
@@jericosha2842 i think i prefer this one too.
They're both incredible in their own ways. It's fun to see how things progressed over time.
I'm feeling this 1 more who needs a outside producer to mess with your songs that worked anyway
I really prefer the new one this song doesn’t grab me at all compared to the incredible one that is on lightwork
Devin has art leaking out of him like it was a bodily function. It's amazing. Thank you so much for sharing.
This is definitely one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. Thanks so much Dev, for everything you've done and continue to do. Love from Finland!
You have thoroughly convinced me that you are, in fact, timeless. Time, and time again.
Every. Single. Damn. Time.
Did I forget to like this? Omfg. Dude, no. This song is brilliant, and introduced me to All India Radio. Bless you, Dev. This song came along in a trying time, and has brought me so much peace. Dude. Thanks. To everyone involved in b bringing these concepts to fruition, and secretly - to the Dev himself for being such a humble character when I first met ya in Dallas TX - and time was taken to hear my ramblings about Zappa and Vai and all that, while helping the opener load out into the DTB trailer.
Yes, folks. He broke off to help push cases while still talking to me in earnest. What a long road you've taken to become someone I genuinely admire and appreciate. Thanks for the podcasts too. That takes a lot of guts.
Really impressed with the amount of creativity that can come out of this man in such a short time.
Those are generally things he wrote and has recorded in the past, but still, that's some amazing work.
@@TalesOfModernity Yup, he actually showed us this track during a clinic at Prognosis, in March 2019, and said he intended to release it as part of his Thank You album. :)
I don't get it, is this a cover song or not?
@@Rrtnns read the description
@@Niamorg1007 I was there as well! Been looking forward to this track since then, and even more since the demo snippet release :)
I love it so much. It help us a lot. Hope for a physical release of the Quarantine Project album. Have a great day everyone ! Stay safe. And thank you so much Dev' ! We love you ! 😍❤️
Devin has answered this question on his Twitch streams and yes.......he plans to release the Quarantine Project as an album.
Us? Are you more than 1 person?
@@KyleBenzien Dude needs to communicate in the isolation you know
@@dimiusko Check out his Twitch video channel library and live streams. It's great to hang out and watch his recording process pretty interactive as well
@@KyleBenzien By us, I mean people in quarantine who need some positivity. That's what Dev' do. He help me, you, us. These songs makes our days better.
This is one of the most beautiful things you've ever released. Maybe even the most. Thank you.
This dropped me to the floor. Never heard such a beautiful song. Thank you so much Devin and All India Radio. Artists like you keep us going ! Much love.
Truly deeply I mean this from the bottom of my heart when I say this is one of the most wondrously benevolent songs I’ve ever heard.
*SPOTIFY PLEAAAAAAAAAASE!!!!*
Quarantine 1: Yeah I'm really digging this...
Quarantine 4: HOLY SHIT THIS IS INCREDIBLE
Quarantine 8: *AAAAHHHHH*
So accurate
Quarantine 6 : DADAAA !
Amazing track, my favorite of The Quarantine Project so far.
“You can call me when you’re ready
You can call me paranoia
If the thoughts keep coming
Hear them now, hear them now
Hear the sound
So take a walk down by the river
Revelations or paranoia
Don’t let your thoughts now pull you under...” This song creates an amazing mental atmosphere IMO. 👍🙏❤️👽🤖
It is SO very beautiful Devin Townsend...😢 and it totally freed my entire soul and my WHOLE mind of from being quarantined, and feeling absolutely SO trapped at home (Because of it.).
Thank you Devin, God-bless and LOVE you all for all eternities...🙏💖💖💖
All India Radio was the inspiration behind this track.
Devin contacted Martin over Twitter about "The Slow Light", album and said there was a particular track named "Can you hear the sound" that he adored.
Devin asked permission to use the same chord progression and melody upon being given permission. This is the outcome.
Both artists are 2 of my favourites of all time. Fantastic work on this track.
PLEASE MAKE GHOST II! Or something that's like this all the way through. You have no idea how many times i have listened to Ghost since it came out and just how much it has helped me. Thank you so much dude!! Love from Scotland! xx
SilhouetteDemon Ghost is my all time favorite album. It’s perfection. Can so relate to your comment.
Not sure if it's up somewhere online, but the special edition of Casualties of Cool actually had a bonus disc that was a full LP, called Ghost 2. It's gotta be on the Internet somewhere.
Ghost... man what an album.
I literally had panic attacks and breathing problems a few years ago that were only solved by listening to Ghost. It's such a great album and ridiculously therapeutic.
This aged well, and now this will be on Lightwork too 😁
Wow, this song was already beautiful as it was... and then you reworked it for Lightwork and made it even more amazing. Thanks, Dev.
This was a great way to start my morning!
kitty cat!
Devin Townsend, Morgan Agren and Mattias Eklundh!! What a trio!! I hope we can hear more out of them in the future. And this is one of my favorite songs now. Thank you Dev.
I can't stop listening... best of the quarantine project so far IMO
I can't explain in english how I love your music; this kind of music.
Hang on. There is someone that loves you as you are.
I listen to this every time I drive to work. And when I come home.
This has Gilmour written over it and I mean it in the best possible way.
The vocals sometimes remind me of him...
I'd be more inclined to say it has 80's Aussie rock vibe. Gilmore fan, but I don't really hear that.
Yea man. I can heat Floyd all over this......around the Momentary lapse of reason days
Helios XII yes it does and that’s because it was influenced directly by a track from All India Radio which is Martin Kennedy who is a huge Pink Floyd fan
Haha yup. Also reminds me of Dream Theater ballads, which are super influenced there too naturally.
How is Devin so good at putting emotions into song? I get so moved by his music. It's incredible. 🖤🖤
I can't stop listening to this. Every note is magic.
I could do with a full Devy album of this style 😊
Jimbus Rift this is a bit groovier and more upbeat than Ghost tho
This is better than ghost
Snuggles is coming soon :3
Ghost, Ocean Machine, Addicted, Ki, Casualties of Cool, Sky Blue and probably a few others are all sorta similar and I can't recommend them enough.
well you must be happy
All india radio is amazing. Been a huge fan for years. Martin is fucking awesome.
Thank you Devin, this track makes my eyes tear and my heart soar.....Please please please do a full album in this style.....my kids love it too,,,😁
This version is way better than the one in lightwork. Devy works better without a producer
Couldn't agree more. I got into an argument with someone about this when Lightwork came out. I thought the new chorus was unnecessary.
Devin,
Please write an album following this style. It doesn't necessarily have to be called Ghost 2, 3, 4, 5,.... n, n+1, etc. This piece is so therapeutic. My first trip to Canada was meant to be this Thursday. Holding tough until things improve. Look after yourself and family, and stay safe.
Yees this is IMO even better than therapy, Devin shines on us :)
daaamn 3 years ago. I watched this video when it came out and it still feels like it came out a couple of months ago
Beauty and calm in a difficult time, to say the least. Loving this Quarantine project !
This might be my favorite dt song since like 2012. That’s not to detract from any of his work since then. This is just outstanding and beautiful imo and i love it.
Oh my god.
Quarantine was 2 years ago.
WTF has my life become?
Great song I have kept coming back to listen to it for 2 years but fuck...
2 years.

Super cool to come back to this now that the Lightwork version is out
Love this lots! Listen to it tons every day
This is probably my new favorite song from you. It's helps me when I feel sad, I listen to it when out in the mountains, hiking, camping, and it was playing when I was out viewing Neowise.
Thank you for being amazing. Your music helps people more than you'll ever know. :)
Both versions are amazing
I’ve listened to this song so many times already. Wonderful for calming your mood. And thanks for turning me on to All India Radio, they are great!
Thank you Devin. This is beautiful. You lift my soul with your music. Keep well, stay safe. Thank you also for turning me on to all india radio. Wonderful.
This song reminds me I still have a soul.

Are the call of the void
You can call me when you’re ready
You can call me paranoia
If the thoughts keep coming

God you make me wish for pandemics now just to hear this kind of music from you again...
Bless you for this one. I feel like I just went through 5 years of therapy in 5 minutes.
I'm happy that this track will be in Lightwork
I was looking forward to hearing this one for a while, ever since you've released that "demo" vid with a short bit of the chorus.
Thank you good sir. This is beautiful. You are beautiful.
Will now check Martin's work as you've kindly recommended.
Beautiful song. Has an eternal flow feel.
Very nice. Keep it up Devin! Can't wait for the rescheduled LA show
Awesome work as always, thank you so much Devin for sharing!
Thank you so much for everything you do Devin. We hope you're doing well. Stay safe and stay hydrated! 💜✨
This video is absolutely breathtaking. If this music came from anyone else I'd be suspicious, but I strongly feel that the empath is surging though the message of this song.
Been a huge fan for over 23+ years now and this might just be my favorite song yet! So well done
I really want to see this get an official release. This is immediately one of my top 10 favorite Devy songs. Slap it on a 45 or something! I’ll buy 2!
So bloody good, probs my fav quarantine track. Endlessly perfect!
So beautiful! 🎶❤️👍🏻
You are the master of contrasts, Devin!
Thank you so much for turning me onto All India Radio. Beautiful!
You have been my favourite artist since the year 2000. Thanks for everything you've given us, man. Come back to do another show in Vancouver when all this shit is over and done with, y'hear?
Lovely tune, lovely video :) The ending bit is very sweet.
I can't describe properly how your music affects me. It starts in my headphones but works its way into me. It finds even secret spaces that have more closets than doors. I can't be the only one who needs that feeling. Thanks, Devy. Your music is huge enough for all of us but individual enough for each of us. Regardless of the inpiration, it's still written for me, even inadvertently. Thank you. We need this.
This is kind of how it was for me with Tycho's album Dive. I discovered it during a really low point in life, and it was the thing that kept me from the void. Thanks for another great video, these have been great!
Tycho is wonderful.
Dammit, now you've opened my ears to All India Radio. That music is beautiful and perfect for the world we are living in these days. Thank you so much for the Quarantine Project.
Thank you Devin for these few minutes with such a phantastic music. Really great Sound that comes from your DevLab.
Stay safe and healthy,
Greetings from Germany.
Stunning........that’s all that needs to be said.......just stunning.
Thank you Devin 🙏
This is very nice, thank you for your music it's such an escape right now. We will get through this. I'm praying for us all.
These demos you create for us are so special to me. You have always had the ability to express emotion in your art. and these songs {demos} feel very personal and intimate, as they are composed for us. They have been crazy & beautiful - just like my 1st wife!
Cant wait to see you in Madrid, march 17. You are the best, Dev
Pure genius! Thank you Devin❤️
Thanks Devy. This is important in my life right now. Proud of you bud!
Stunning. I really needed this. Thank you x
Prenons conscience de cette beauté que Devin veut nous faire réaliser au travers de ces images et de sa musique...
ive listened to the slow light album at least a hundred times because of this.
Can´t wait for this Song released on "Lightwork"
This is an exceptionally difficult time for me regarding my mental health etc. and music like this is what keeps me going. Thank you Devin!
I could listen to this all day!!
Holy fuck this is 100%, grade A perfection. Much love.
Best song ever! Thank you, Devin!
A long time ago you posted "Can You Hear The Sound" somewhere, and it's been my number one song for when I can't fall asleep ever since.
Incidentally, his recommendation of All India Radio is solid. Been listening all day and haven’t skipped a track yet.
Its Beatiful,Dev!!!!!Rock ON!!!
Devin thanks for your music. Really. Hope you recover well. A brazilian hug for you! 🇧🇷❤
After listening to the Lightwork version and this...I think I like the new version better. That chorus just adds an element i feel this was missing. It brings the whole song together.
This was great, but I do like the updated lightwork version with the new chorus
Fantastic, Devin. Love everything you do. Unashamed fanboy.
Excellent as always, my friend.
Beautiful visuals and music. Thank you Devin, and I hope you can recover financially from this. Peace & Love to all.
