Wrong choice ! 14 inches chassis is way too small for all the power the M4 Max can delivers… You would better get the 16 inches for better cooling capacity, or stick with the M4 Pro if you prefer the 14 inches format.
@@Bivouac20 Thanks for the input! I’ve been trying to decide if it’s worth going to the 16 inch for extra cooling capacity. Hoping to see some more comparisons on this channel of the two sizes soon
16" M4: A remarkable machine, but a significant challenge for non-touch typists. The key gaps are now black, even on the silver model-a true nightmare for those who rely on visual aiming when typing.
I think my dilemma is the fact that the battery life is being consumed more in the M4 pro. Obviously it's because they have 4 efficiency cores instead of 6 cores now. I really wanted to get my MBP this year but that issue plus no wifi 7 has me on the fence.
But only if you push the device all the time. If you do some normal or mid work it will mostly use the e cores and only a few p cores. And if you don't need to be mobile or have a old machbook to use as a terminal for remote connect just get a Mac mini with the M4 Pro.
Why? That is an incredibly powerful laptop. The 16-inch m3 pro macbook has by default the unbinned version 12-core CPU. It easily outperforms the M2 Max Studio. It will run extremely quiet, super cool to the touch and you’ll likely have the same or more battery life than the newer M4 versions under moderate-heavy load. In rough terms, the M4 chips just feel more like an overclocked and hotter version of the M3 chips.

on your upcoming 16 inch MacBook m4 pro max tests can you please cover the coil whine issue. im hearing the 16 inch MacBook Pros have coil whine. some are calling it an ssd whine and gpu whine. I have no idea what they mean but please cover if they suffer from these issues.
what does binned and unbinned mean
That's cool, but how does it do against a top end windows PC?
I really want to see a comparison between m4 max and the best windows laptop on the market
We will do that
That’s nice. Would you also do a giveaway? An M4 or M4 Pro would be amazing
@@MaxTechOfficial Please, Max we also need M4 Max vs M3 Max.
yup, i’m waiting for binned vs un-binned test please
What does it mean? Binned and unbinned?
Seems like the difference is not that much
@@WhatNameHere12core vs 14core cpu
Max doesn't have them yet but other channels do the difference seems not that big and not worth the upgrade
@ can you share the link to your reference video
What’s the temperature of the room your in? Thermal throttling may not happen if the room is 65 or lower. I found that out with my M1 Max. 80 degree room in the summer and massive throttling and fan use.
Can you test m3 pro with m4 base model?
Can you check the fan noise & speed on load vs normal between m4 PRO & MAX vs 16 & 14 comparing to previous m3 or m2 or m1 systems?
4:34 : I dont get the difference in graph, should have plotter better 1 min takes a lot of area but then 22 and 9 hardly has any difference.
Can you test m4 pro 16 core vs 20 core?
All i heard is Crazy, Insane, one of the best Design Studio in California, i was not expecting this.
I have two queries with upgrading options...
- Nano texture vs standard display colour reproduction
- 24gb vs 48gb RAM worth it for large batch RAW edits in Lightroom?
Please can you test the Lightroom AI subject detect on a batch of 100+ RAW files!!
Love the wall in your background 👍🏽
Can do a compare M1 Pro vs M4 Pro on mbp14?
Spoiler: the M4 Pro will be up to 3x faster then the M1 Pro. This is what Apple claims on there own MacBook Pro product page. In fact in Geekerwan videos you can see that the M4 Pro has nearly the same performance as an M3 Max (CPU) or an M2 Utra (CPU). Of course not for the GPU.
Can you test the 14 inch m4 max vs 16 inch m4 max? I need to know if it throttles before buying
Can you compare battery life in the M4 pro and base M4?
Can't wait for M4 Max comparison with M3 Max.
Is this dual exhaust fan
Curious, how they would perform in macos energy efficiency mode.
Can you test m4 vs m3 pro for rendering? Also macbook m4/m4 pro and m3 pro for 3d in general
I'm considering getting a Canon R5 Mark II and editing 8K RAW but I don't know whether I need to upgrade my main editing machine. I currently use a base M1 Pro 14" MacBook Pro and it handles the 4K ProRes footage pretty well. I have seen RAM usage go up as I have a habit of keeping a ton of chrome tabs open while doing work. Would you recommend upgrading?
Wow. So this means that 14c M4 Pro is gonna totally destroy the 16c M3 Max. That's wild! M4 is the holy grail for folks like who have been using Windows/x86 since Win95 and are finally switching to the Mac!
quick question what do you use to check the stats of the cpu, gpu, and temperature on the top corner?
How about doing a battery test for the low power mode? Interested to see how it will perform and how much battery life will be expanded...
Great comparison Max between the MacBook Pro with M3 Pro and the MacBook Pro with M4 Pro! Your analysis was clear and insightful, highlighting the key differences effectively.
Would it be possible for you to do a comparison between the MacBook Pro and the Mac mini, both featuring the M4 Pro chip? I think that would be really helpful for viewers considering their options. Thanks!
Honestly if I have an M1 M2 OR M3 this is unnecessary., unless you are being paid by the minute an extra minute or two in rendering files wont make any difference in ROI. Sure you have an INTEL massive difference, but any APPLE SILICON machine... just wasting money at this point.
My last computer was a 2014 MacBook Pro. I'm looking to work from home and potentially get into video editing. Which model will serve me the for another decade? Thanks!
Actually im planning too...but this is my 1st mac...so which one... macbook pro m3 or m4? 500 gb is ok for video editors? Or ?
I don’t know guys I’m still on my 2012
Do the new macbook pros have a hdmi port now?
My 2019 one only has USB c ports :((
Yes they have, since M3 I think, Apple starts to added HDMI ports.
@andresinaga9885 hahaha I think 2019 to 2020 everyone's laptops have no hdmi, good to see they added it back!
Are we getting a base 16-inch review/comparison? I’m getting that one.
as a user of the MBP14 M3 Pro; I don't see the need to upgrade to the M4 Pro Chip; if I didn't have a macbook I would buy it; it is more likely that I will wait for the M5 Pro, and I don't deny that I could buy the M4 Pro because I do photogrammetry work; it would help me a lot.
Can you compare the M3 unbinned and M4 binned
I feel so bad having bought m3 pro 1999 base few months ago. This m4 pro is solid.
Dont worry you still have a great laptop.
Can't wait for the 16" comparison to this model.
Can you please compare an upgraded m4 iMac with an m4 MacBook Pro?
please do 12-core pro vs 14-core pro! struggling on which one to get! please do it as soon as possible , thank you
Nice to see the improvements year over year! I'm perfectly happy with my M3 Pro, especially since it cost me U$600 less than the M4 Pro would have cost me. Value was totally worth it. Battery is amazing and I have yet to hear the fans running.
It would be interesting to compare M4 and M3 pro MacBook Pros since the refurbished M3 pro is now going for about the same price as the M4.
Love the numbers and your broad approach. But please make sure the bar charts include the full range. Looking at you, blender benchmark. 49s and 67s are not on the same scale.
Is this the base m4 he is comparing or the upgraded m4 pro pro. Am confused
That Lightroom export was crazy. I just bought a used MBP 16 w/ M3 Max 16C 64GB on ebay, i think I'll be happy coming from a 8GB M1 Air
Thinking of going from base m3 pro to base m4 max in the 14 inch for doubling performance cores, RAM, storage, and media engines for video encoding
Wrong choice ! 14 inches chassis is way too small for all the power the M4 Max can delivers…
You would better get the 16 inches for better cooling capacity, or stick with the M4 Pro if you prefer the 14 inches format.
@@Bivouac20nooo I got the m4 max in 14”
16 inch is worth it for the M4 Max because of the better cooling. But if you want a 14 inch the M4 Max can mame sense because of double the encoders.
@@Bivouac20 Thanks for the input! I’ve been trying to decide if it’s worth going to the 16 inch for extra cooling capacity. Hoping to see some more comparisons on this channel of the two sizes soon
Can you compare M3 Pro vs M4?
Great video. I love how you try and cover every angle / use case with your benchmarks.
please also make a test for the 16 inch model
16" M4: A remarkable machine, but a significant challenge for non-touch typists. The key gaps are now black, even on the silver model-a true nightmare for those who rely on visual aiming when typing.
It think it's time guys. Please test MacBook M4 vs PowerBook G4.
Now please compare the 16 inch M3 vs M4 and then a second video 14 inch M4 pro vs 16 inch M4 Pro
Can you test M4 vs M3 pro?
Compare the fan noises across te board
should i trade in my M3 pro for the new one?
Why did you guys removed the davinci resolve tests part? almost all professionals uses or either premiere or resolve as a major nle.
Do the test with lite power mode on the m4 pro and compare again
I think my dilemma is the fact that the battery life is being consumed more in the M4 pro. Obviously it's because they have 4 efficiency cores instead of 6 cores now. I really wanted to get my MBP this year but that issue plus no wifi 7 has me on the fence.
But only if you push the device all the time. If you do some normal or mid work it will mostly use the e cores and only a few p cores. And if you don't need to be mobile or have a old machbook to use as a terminal for remote connect just get a Mac mini with the M4 Pro.
What power profile were they on? We never saw that 🤔
do some comparisons between the M1 macbook air and these new machines
It would be nice to see an M1 Pro 16" to M4 Pro 16" comparison.
holy smokes M1 vs M4 just 50% but 100% full uphrade
Please make displays comparison close up, how a text looks like
I own 14inch M3 pro with 36gb ram 11cpu. I think this is the best balanced laptop
Crying on my 16 inches M3 pro MacBook Pro 😢
Crying? Nah that's a good machine. Unless you only got the 8GB model, then yes maybe cry a little 😢😂
Can't wait to see the 16" M4 Max review!
