  • We've been really excited to share this video.
This was one of those trips which just worked out so good. Still can't stop thinking about it, actually. It's been so nice reliving it all whilst editing this.
We had a really simple plan: cycle up a hill and spend a night in a bothy!
Very fortunate to have places like this up in the hills. Across the UK there are over 100 bothies run and maintained by the Mountain Bothies Association. They're a registered charity and any donations help to make outdoor experiences like this possible. Here's there link if you wanted to make a donation: www.mountainbo...

As I’m now getting too old to do trips like this, I especially enjoyed watching your video. You have a good balance of scenery and action, and the photography is gorgeous. Best of luck to you both with your life in the Lake District, one of my favourite places.

My health has declined over the years .
I never had real strong health . I grew up
In the state of Michigan witch is a little like UK climate . Well at the time the doctored recommended the west .
So I went to the Western United States do to the dryer climate . It worked for a while . But everything changed .
It cost alot now to live in the western states and they are now congested with tourism .
And people wanting huge houses , not small cabins .and cost of living . It's stress full .
And I ware my body down .from work and life . I am sixty five .
It's sad but you don't want to go to the mountains von a weekend . They are mobbed .and don't feel remote .
You mite like Stan mills channel .
He lives out side of Yellowstone park .
And he takes you hiking . He didn't talk much but always shares what's important .and the beauty like you do .
And he is seasoned . Teaches you on what to do when your with Grizzly bear country .
He always stays away from the tourist .

@Bikepacking a pretty sweet content setup! On lighter trails I'll sometime switch to an Ortlieb Ultimate 6 handlebar bag, which I also like. Just as trails get heavier, it bounces about too much again. I tend to forget about the backpack, then realise how great it feels once I take it off again 😅

Its a shame there isn't a fire at this Bothy. I also follow Dave outdoors Scotland and he always takes fire wood with him to the many Scottish Bothies, as most are made of stone and have fire places. Perhaps when you have explored the lakes you might venture further North. Thanks for sharing, another great vid, I'm looking forward to part two. ATB Big Dave.

It's really pretty small. Fire would have kept us extra toasty, but also appreciate the minimalism too. Excited to explore others in the area. It's brilliant how many they have in N England and into Scotland. Cheers Dave!
