Thank you for that thorough trip through Fleur's book. It's killing me that I can't get a copy until next May. As a child of the 1950's it has taken me years to overcome the mindset that what I do with a needle and thread is more than craft or mere woman's work. I now acknowledge that I am, in fact, an artist. I just use needle, thread, and cloth instead of paint or other media. 😊

I’m sorry you have such a long wait! You could ask Fleur’s publishers if they would post to you as I think they were sending copies but the postage might be a bit expensive? Cheers, Christine

Oh and you most definitely are an artist and I think it is such a shame that many of us struggle to embrace that term. 💛

I just watched your video of the workshop with Fleur Woods. What a fantastic location! You girls were having too much fun. I don't know if I could ever be that creative. 😊 I just got Jennifer's book on freeform embroidery and am excited to start working my way through it. I'll be teaching a workshop for senior ladies late this month and plan to introduce them to slow stitching. I hope they'll be receptive to the idea. First I'll have to see if any are beginners or if they just need to refresh their stitching skills.

Thanks Kay - I am sure you are very creative and Fleur is an incredibly nurturing guide. Plus being in a room full of people who love to explore creatively just feels so energising. I have a shorter workshop with Fleur later this year and am going back to Green Door next year for another retreat with Fleur 💚 And how wonderful that you will be sharing your creativity with a bunch of ladies - I think they will find slow stitch very freeing. Jennifer’s book will be great inspiration too 🤗

Lovely to have a little look through, what a gorgeous book.
I have a pack of Rumi meditation cards which I use most days. Lovely.
Since starting the garage renovation, I have realized I hoard way to much and am dedicated to culling (ugh… how do i do that???) in order to not crowd out my new space too much. It’s almost as hard as downsizing a house.
I feel inspired seeing the book Christine, sadly, I’m still have a way to go before I can get back to full time work with it all.
The garage beings being painted today! On the home stretch now.

Yes, fiber work of every kind was considered by men as 'women's work' and therefore, not worthy of mention. So much beautiful stitchery was lost to history because it was never signed and dated by the artist who considered her work as 'just' a hobby. That's why I am so adamant about women signing/dating their work, no matter how small or inconsequential it may be considered.
