Listen, splatoon 2 might have had its (many) flaws, but it was my, and a lot of other people's, first splatoon game, so the nostalgia makes it fun to come back to. Happy birthday 2, we'll never forget you... no matter how much some of us try.
Happy Anniversary Splatoon 2! I really miss the shifty stations and the inclusion of stage gimmicks and cool flank spots. I thought it was really funny when they pulled out the quad bamboo comp and you still won because of the stage geometry explosher was able to take advantage of, what a game that was! It was cool to watch you play bamboozler too.
This video was fun. Both because of the nostalgia of seeing all the old maps and because it's a nice antidote for the Splatoon 3 doomerism you sometimes see on sites like Twitter (it's easy to forget how many nice little QOL improvements S3 made to the game unless you go back to not having them).
S2 was more fun everywhere except near the top of the skill levels. Games actually felt like you could just hop in and play for fun instead of needing to tryhard every game or sit on respawn until you get knocked out. 1 shots not being oppressive unlike in 3 helps this too.
I’m currently playing splat 2 right now, and can I just say that, man, playing on stages such as arowanna, man does it just feel so effing good to be able to actually climb up walls again. Ya in my time with 1 since 3 came out i had that, but i mean with a game that doesn’t feel too clank and jank. Believe me i love most of 3’s maps by now, but i still think 2 had maps down better.

I've thought about getting 2. It looks like I can actually follow what's going on at times. I also like that the maps have such diversity. But then there are things like Ink Armor and Missile spam and then I'm not so sure.
Watching this makes me appreciate just how friggin' good the Splatoon 3 stages are by comparison. This is chaos. lol Though it would be fun to have a handful of more chaotic stages than we got~ There's just something so fun about something being horribly broken in a game.
It's the speed. In 2 if you are dying to someone you can just go to the other side of the map from them. In 3 if there's someone good your dying to they are probably constantly in your face and there's nothing you can do about it. Not to mention that 1 shot weapons and specials are everywhere in 3 with nothing to counter them like armor and rng did in 2.
Genuinely all it needs is the effect from S1 bubbler where it only chains to teammates near you imo. Id much much much much rather fight that than fight whatever the devs were trying to cook with big bubbler
@@NotSnak Real. I don’t why comp players complain about “not letter chargers one shot like intended” when it’s whole point is to be defensive. The global range was/is BS though. Also, it should add to your health bar cumulatively instead of making you completely invulnerable; kind of like actual armor. Not sure how much though; maybe 25-50 HP.
@@CoolMintMC yeah. I find that comment about chargers extra funny when one of splatoon 3's biggest flaws is its maps that enable chargers and e liter is the most hated weapon by most players. I dont think it personally should just add onto your hp because if that were the case some things would still oneshot you i think if it did get changed to only chain to teammates while near thatd be fine enough imo. If you wanted your whole team to have armor youd have to all group up into one spot and coordinate kinda like with cooler but armor is way shorter duration
i like the glossy look of splatoon 2...it makes me feel this weird desire to cover the enemy ink AND be satisfied with it because it FEELS more like paint than in 3 for me. but the specials? hahahahhah... nah. i miss my dualie kit tho
Splatoon 2 is better because I can actually f*cking play it and not get dc'd every other match or lag-killed to oblivion because of the awful netcode. Did *not* have this problem in S1 or S2. Also S2 had better stages, music, single-player campaigns, and overall aesthetic and vibes. People who criticize fans of S2 over S3 are so annoying because you're shitting on a minority of people who simply had more fun with the less popular game. Just let people enjoy whichever game they want, and let them personally believe that one is better than the other without shaming.
How has it been 7 years already?! Splatoon 2 was my starting point for the series in 2021, so I missed all Splatfests except the Mario fest.😅 Unrelated (though I doubt anyone will care), but today is also the day Pikmin 4 released 1 year ago.
Despite it's flaws, Splatoon 2 feels more special to me than Splatoon 3. I do like S3; but every time I play it, it just feels empty to me. S2 never felt like that to me.

Man splatoon 2 just seems so much more vibrant and in your face with the colors. I miss the old salmon run with the super dark purple and green.
