One time, while I was going around 1-starring weapons to stock up on Sheldon licenses, I had a stamper zip his way right below my perch on the overpass in Eeltail alley. Anticipating their next move, I leapt backwards into the air as the stamper jumped out of cover to try and hit me for a follow-up attack, but it was already too late for them. I pulled the trigger mid-air, and the stamper's efforts to zip outta there to safety were in vain. A teammate swims by and gives me a booyah, seemingly to complement me on my sick trickshot. Since that moment, I swore to not say anything bad about the Goo Tuber, ever.

I don’t know why, but years ago during the Spaltoon 2 days, I used to think that GooTuber was a Salmon Run exclusive weapon, probably because I never saw anyone use it and I only used to see it on the news during a Salmon Run rotation
And honestly, I can't even blame you for thinking that 😭 I RARELY ever saw a goober in endgame s2. It would see tiny spikes of use every now and then whenever they'd buff it but aside from that, poor goober was only ever being used at grizzco :') Not to mention, aside from the white tube, the weapon has an orange bulb and black nozzle which matches with grizzco's color scheme xD

Custom Gootuber was what initially got me into playing chargers in splatoon 3! I never ended up fully following after the Goober train, but it led me down the splatterscope to e-liter scope pipeline and I love it dearly for that Happy to see another post!! Can't wait for the next one!!

Yeah, pretty weird that Luna Neo and Custom Goo got the same kit considering they play nothing alike xD I think the kit still has synergy with the goob, just maybe in a different way :)

The number of weird and frustratingly poorly thought-out repeat kits in this game is astonishing, like 90% of them have directly worse synergy on one of the weapons that could have been avoided if they just... used a different sub/special combo that hasn't been used yet. I think something like Kraken or Zooka would have obviously done either part of Ultrastamp's synergy better still, but after finishing watching the video I do agree that it seems like it fits better on C. Goober than I thought at first, as I find that it has similar synergy as Wellstring does, which I actually do like Stamp on. Great video, by the way! Love your art-style.
Funny gootuber buff idea: make it where it's the one and only charger with an invisible charge hold (it'd be fully visible at first but slowly fade away over the course of 3-5 seconds). Anyway yeah, gootuber is like the quintessential bad weapon that's really fun to play. It's not quite my favorite, but I certainly had a good time with it before sizzle season came and dropped literally the best weapon in the game (Bamboozler MkII).
Holy hell dude, I just wanted to say that these videos (all 3) are insanely well made and well edited, and when I saw that you made another one after like 9 months I instantly clicked on the notification because I knew the video was gonna be peak, and it still exceeded my expectations. I honestly have to say that it's an actual crime that you have as many subs as you do, and I better see you in like 6 months as one of the biggest splatubers, because this is some of the best if not the best Splatoon content out there. 10/10 video. claiming my early ticket now btw, I'm a certified day 1✌️

I can totally see where you're coming from, and I feel you as a longtime mini user. I actually personally love stamp as a special and I even have a BLAST using it on mini, but there's no denying that it feels wildly inconsistent and it needs some serious fixes because impact on a match are so hit-or-miss. I think stamp has great synergy with all the weapons it's currently on in a perfect world, but as it is now it's a bit undertuned.
After watching ur videos I think you can do really good. I stopped playing splatoon because I got burned out but after watching ur vids it felt refreshing. Keep up the work!❤
When custom goo came out, I was so sad because I love using Kraken, and I thought that Kraken would’ve been better than stamp, and we needed more Kraken weapons, and I just wanted a fun Kraken weapon to play. Instead it became another weapon on the list of “if only it didn’t get stamp” right next to neo Luna and Minisplatling. Still love goo though
I love the goober ^^ It's the only sniper weapon that ever really clicked for me. In Splatoon 3, I play every weapon until I get the holo sticker at 3 stars, then switch. It's the only sniper weapon I made it up to 'fresh' with before I hit 3 stars. I didn't even make it up to 'raw' with the E-liter... I like it because it allows for kind of a hybrid playstyle. I can paint turf, I can play the super mobile mid-range attacker, or I can play more like the traditional sniper and hold position at the vantage points and change up as needed. It may not be the very best at any one of those roles, but it can do all of them equally well.

Ah yes, one of the more fun chargers that I recently learned how to play. When I started playing Splatoon (3 was my first game) Goo Tuber was one of the first few weapons I was drawn to, and I really sucked at it, but kept giving it chances until suddenly, it clicked, and now those squiddos better watch out. I guess I have a knack for the more underrated weapons in the series because I was also drawn to Undercover Brella too, and now I have both of mine 4 starred. It's a shame that the devs have not given Undercover the same amount of care that Goo Tuber has gotten though... They may be the laughing stocks of the series but they're some of my favorite weapons.
Just want to say when I saw your charger video I thought you where doing yt for a long time because of the amazing quality of the video, to realize it's your first. You doing such a great job and have such a great talent. Hope you have a good day.

I’d always see a squiffer player and take it personally XD. This dumb weapon is constantly getting so many buffs and the only nerf it got was tenta missles and another frustrating kit (Like seriously, its playstyle was fineee BUT IT WAS ROBBED OF TRIZOOKA OR JET) Glad to see you finally cover the weapon :D

It’s all fun until you realize it has the same range as bamboo, is more committal than bamboo, is less stealthy than bamboo (it GLOWS), struggles with painting more than bamboo, and has worse kits than bamboo. Other than that it’s a perfect weapon

Goo tuber has always been my favorite sniper, mainly because I picked it up when I was trash with *all* snipers, so at least obliterating people with half a wheel was pretty fun Also geez this is an unbelievably high quality video from the size of your channel, this is legit 100k subs worth of effort
Goo Tuber main here - Great job on the video! I had a whole essay typed out halfway through watching, then kept watching and you covered just about the entire thing. So yeah that's half an hour of my life I won't be getting back LOL. Definitely said it better than I could have (and certainly did try) on the segment about the main strafing from the charge hold animation speed. I do have one thing I disagree on and have disagreed on from day one of its existence. 3's Vanilla Goober getting Tenta Missiles is just about the equivalent of Splatoon 2 Explosher getting Heavy Baller. I'm not kidding. Goober plays best when it plays aggressive angles, close and personal - not in the air as much as Squiffer, not quite as hit-and-run as Bamboozler, instead it plays best as a mid-range assassin. Missiles force you away from that optimal distance and leave you out in the open while you fire. It takes you out of the action WAY too much. If you get it, you want to use it because... well it's Missiles. It's absolutely busted, of course you'll use it. So you retreat, (which is unlikely because you've most likely already died during that sick 360-wall-kick trickshot that was half an inch off target), use the Missiles, then rush back into action. For me, that time spent on the back-and-forth is just the WORST. And that's only IF you even notice you had the special in time to retreat to use it. It leaves the rest of your team to handle the area denial you were taking care of while you do what kinda feels the same as getting up for a bathroom break mid-match. And watching Goober finally get actual competitive use was such an exciting idea, too, until it ended up more like watching Tenta Missiles: The Main Weapon in competitive, which just brought back trauma from Splatoon 2... As for Ultra Stamp, no it's not perfect. Kraken would have been better - viability-wise at least. Tacticooler would have been my pick if the Devs really just wanted to say "Vanilla kit failed to be meta? We'll make Custom meta then!" However, Stamp was absoLUTELY the special I wanted it to have. Fizzy was the sub I wanted, too! Custom Goober is LITERALLY a dream come true for me. All we need is some buffs for Stamp (Specifically, just make the stamp shield up front a full on invisible wall at the least please and thank you devs) and the kit is actually perfect for dumb fun. I think overall any weapon in the game just needs the right player to make it work. I've always been drawn to playing the oddball stupid-fun stuff in games since that's why I play games - for stupid dumb fun. Goober has a high skill ceiling and takes a lot to really get value out of. I think I've gotten to the point where I don't think players I get matched with think I'm dragging the team down - I've been in S+0, currently S because every time I try a rank up battle everything goes wrong lately, but I rarely have a game where I'm not holding my own - but all the while I'm having fun, and that's what really matters, right? ...Dang it, there goes another 30 minutes. Goober discussions are one of the few things that'll get me typing this long, so making this video was painting a bigger target than the one painted on the ground when you're holding a charge.
7:30 I feel like a lot of chargers can use main strafing effectively to get an attack ready if it needs it or to reposition if it wants to get to a better spot at a moment's notice as long as it doesn't have its full charge ready. They don't use it in quite the same way as shooters, where it can output paint and pressure while moving around at breakneck speeds, but it does operate similar to other chargers where it lets you reposition quickly before you get an actual shot off to make sure your shot comes from a good direction. It's definitely something some chargers use less than others, but for bamboo at least it has pretty regular use cases for moments where you want to prepare for a fight that may or may not happen
Just got that video in my feed, and I absolutely don't regret it ! The animation and montage is great, and the story telling really makes me want to hear more
I do like to use goo tuber for fun and all that but I have some problems with it: - the charge time is awful and the shot velocity is an oddity, like, I would trade some of the partial shot kill ability to get faster shots - tap shots are awfuly slow when needed - it devours ink for no good reason, like, grizzco charger has a rival - charge hold should get more than just longer hold like charging while swimming or keeping the charge while throwing sub weapons
Yeah, I agree with these issues, ESPECIALLY the shot velocity thing. Maybe it's a placebo thing for me, but fully charged shots feel near instantaneous whereas tapshots and partials are slower and the constant switching between them can mix things up muscle memory-wise. Same thing for the ink consumption... I feel like it could be a bit better if they buffed it to allow you to recover a small amount ink while holding a charge, just so it didn't feel you were constantly running out despite spending half the match hiding in ink xD Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts!!! :D
7:22 all chargers, bows, splatanas, splatlings and even the rainmaker can mainstrafe due to charging a shot making them lose all momentum on the ground. Gootuber is special as it can do it with a charge held unlike the other chargers. The two weapons that can mainstrafe like shooters without being one are the wiper and reeflux, all dualies to but as pointed out in the video some of them are to slow.

Hey man I love your videos, recently discovered this one on my feed and though I don't really have any experience with chargers I usually play other anchor weapons (mainly Explosher) I enjoyed the vid.
I always had a soft spot for Goo Tuber as a comp player even if it isnt the best bc it's cool, glad that now when I play casually and wanna play this weapon I'll know how to better utilize it and have fun!
I had two ideas for how to make goo both better and more fun, either make the charge hold completely invisible, allowing you to be a long range carbon as long as you can hit your shots, or make it so you can charge shots while swimming only to the first ring, fitting in with the charge hold gimmick. Great video it was completely worth the wait!!

I think this finally explained why there were 2 random weeks (towards the end of S2’s life time) when I had so much fun with gootuber despite never having played it much before. My ink jet skills were-and still are- deplorable so I mostly used the main weapon. I didn’t get too many kills each game but when I did it was amazing. Also apparently the S3 kit is so good I genuinely misremembered it being the same in S2.

Since then i have now learned how to aim, time, and a whole bunch of mobility tricks from this thing, best video yet (im not biased)

When custom goo came out, I was so sad because I love using Kraken, and I thought that Kraken would’ve been better than stamp, and we needed more Kraken weapons, and I just wanted a fun Kraken weapon to play. Instead it became another weapon on the list of “if only it didn’t get stamp” right next to neo Luna and Minisplatling.

I love the goober ^^ It's the only sniper weapon that ever really clicked for me. In Splatoon 3, I play every weapon until I get the holo sticker at 3 stars, then switch. It's the only sniper weapon I made it up to 'fresh' with before I hit 3 stars. I didn't even make it up to 'raw' with the E-liter... I like it because it allows for kind of a hybrid playstyle. I can paint turf, I can play the super mobile mid-range attacker, or I can play more like the traditional sniper and hold position at the vantage points and change up as needed. It may not be the very best at any one of those roles, but it can do all of them equally well.

Ah yes, one of the more fun chargers that I recently learned how to play. When I started playing Splatoon (3 was my first game) Goo Tuber was one of the first few weapons I was drawn to, and I really sucked at it, but kept giving it chances until suddenly, it clicked, and now those squiddos better watch out.
I guess I have a knack for the more underrated weapons in the series because I was also drawn to Undercover Brella too, and now I have both of mine 4 starred. It's a shame that the devs have not given Undercover the same amount of care that Goo Tuber has gotten though...
They may be the laughing stocks of the series but they're some of my favorite weapons.

I’d always see a squiffer player and take it personally XD. This dumb weapon is constantly getting so many buffs and the only nerf it got was tenta missles and another frustrating kit (Like seriously, its playstyle was fineee BUT IT WAS ROBBED OF TRIZOOKA OR JET) Glad to see you finally cover the weapon :D

It’s all fun until you realize it has the same range as bamboo, is more committal than bamboo, is less stealthy than bamboo (it GLOWS), struggles with painting more than bamboo, and has worse kits than bamboo. Other than that it’s a perfect weapon

Goo tuber has always been my favorite sniper, mainly because I picked it up when I was trash with *all* snipers, so at least obliterating people with half a wheel was pretty fun

Goo Tuber main here - Great job on the video! I had a whole essay typed out halfway through watching, then kept watching and you covered just about the entire thing. So yeah that's half an hour of my life I won't be getting back LOL. Definitely said it better than I could have (and certainly did try) on the segment about the main strafing from the charge hold animation speed.
I do have one thing I disagree on and have disagreed on from day one of its existence.
3's Vanilla Goober getting Tenta Missiles is just about the equivalent of Splatoon 2 Explosher getting Heavy Baller.
I'm not kidding.
Goober plays best when it plays aggressive angles, close and personal - not in the air as much as Squiffer, not quite as hit-and-run as Bamboozler, instead it plays best as a mid-range assassin. Missiles force you away from that optimal distance and leave you out in the open while you fire. It takes you out of the action WAY too much. If you get it, you want to use it because... well it's Missiles. It's absolutely busted, of course you'll use it. So you retreat, (which is unlikely because you've most likely already died during that sick 360-wall-kick trickshot that was half an inch off target), use the Missiles, then rush back into action. For me, that time spent on the back-and-forth is just the WORST. And that's only IF you even notice you had the special in time to retreat to use it. It leaves the rest of your team to handle the area denial you were taking care of while you do what kinda feels the same as getting up for a bathroom break mid-match.
And watching Goober finally get actual competitive use was such an exciting idea, too, until it ended up more like watching Tenta Missiles: The Main Weapon in competitive, which just brought back trauma from Splatoon 2...
As for Ultra Stamp, no it's not perfect. Kraken would have been better - viability-wise at least. Tacticooler would have been my pick if the Devs really just wanted to say "Vanilla kit failed to be meta? We'll make Custom meta then!" However, Stamp was absoLUTELY the special I wanted it to have. Fizzy was the sub I wanted, too! Custom Goober is LITERALLY a dream come true for me. All we need is some buffs for Stamp (Specifically, just make the stamp shield up front a full on invisible wall at the least please and thank you devs) and the kit is actually perfect for dumb fun.
I think overall any weapon in the game just needs the right player to make it work. I've always been drawn to playing the oddball stupid-fun stuff in games since that's why I play games - for stupid dumb fun. Goober has a high skill ceiling and takes a lot to really get value out of. I think I've gotten to the point where I don't think players I get matched with think I'm dragging the team down - I've been in S+0, currently S because every time I try a rank up battle everything goes wrong lately, but I rarely have a game where I'm not holding my own - but all the while I'm having fun, and that's what really matters, right?
...Dang it, there goes another 30 minutes. Goober discussions are one of the few things that'll get me typing this long, so making this video was painting a bigger target than the one painted on the ground when you're holding a charge.
7:30 I feel like a lot of chargers can use main strafing effectively to get an attack ready if it needs it or to reposition if it wants to get to a better spot at a moment's notice as long as it doesn't have its full charge ready. They don't use it in quite the same way as shooters, where it can output paint and pressure while moving around at breakneck speeds, but it does operate similar to other chargers where it lets you reposition quickly before you get an actual shot off to make sure your shot comes from a good direction. It's definitely something some chargers use less than others, but for bamboo at least it has pretty regular use cases for moments where you want to prepare for a fight that may or may not happen

I do like to use goo tuber for fun and all that but I have some problems with it:
- the charge time is awful and the shot velocity is an oddity, like, I would trade some of the partial shot kill ability to get faster shots
- tap shots are awfuly slow when needed
- it devours ink for no good reason, like, grizzco charger has a rival
- charge hold should get more than just longer hold like charging while swimming or keeping the charge while throwing sub weapons
Yeah, I agree with these issues, ESPECIALLY the shot velocity thing. Maybe it's a placebo thing for me, but fully charged shots feel near instantaneous whereas tapshots and partials are slower and the constant switching between them can mix things up muscle memory-wise. Same thing for the ink consumption... I feel like it could be a bit better if they buffed it to allow you to recover a small amount ink while holding a charge, just so it didn't feel you were constantly running out despite spending half the match hiding in ink xD

7:22 all chargers, bows, splatanas, splatlings and even the rainmaker can mainstrafe due to charging a shot making them lose all momentum on the ground.
Gootuber is special as it can do it with a charge held unlike the other chargers.
The two weapons that can mainstrafe like shooters without being one are the wiper and reeflux, all dualies to but as pointed out in the video some of them are to slow.

I had two ideas for how to make goo both better and more fun, either make the charge hold completely invisible, allowing you to be a long range carbon as long as you can hit your shots, or make it so you can charge shots while swimming only to the first ring, fitting in with the charge hold gimmick. Great video it was completely worth the wait!!
In Splatoon 2, me and my friend would have a goo tuber battle on moray which was a lot of fun and now we’ll play it in open when we feel like memeing. I love this weapon

I think this finally explained why there were 2 random weeks (towards the end of S2’s life time) when I had so much fun with gootuber despite never having played it much before. My ink jet skills were-and still are- deplorable so I mostly used the main weapon.
I didn’t get too many kills each game but when I did it was amazing.
Also apparently the S3 kit is so good I genuinely misremembered it being the same in S2.
