Yeah, it sure does! I was so happy that i went' on a small trip just to enjoy how good the car feels after the upgrade. And usually i've put in 10€ of gas, and on the way back i had to refill. Now i've put 10€ and came back with no reserve light :D Yeah the BHR is quite expensive, and that's why many people never upgrade. But now they know that there's a cheaper alternative :)
I went to the ebay link you gave, and it showed me: 4 Ignition Coils on Plug Pack For Buick Cadillac Chevy GMC Isuzu V8 C1251 UF262 ($46). Are those the ones? Also, please make an update video, telling us how the coils are going after about a year or so. I've had misfire issues w/ my RX-8, and I asked the guy from BHR for replacements. He sent me a brand new pack of 4, w/ his updated version too, and I still misfire. I think it might be because of ECU, or something else. As it is, I've gotten the bad news that it smells like a rebuild is around the corner. Getting blow-by in my 2nd rotor :(
Snoopy25 yes, the coils are correct. Those are Chevi heavy duty coilovets, that are connected to the rx8 via the harness adapter :) missfire you say? Have you tried changing spark plugs ?

Thanks for getting this mod out to everyone Kristian. First thing everyone should upgrade to their RX8 IMHO. The second thing would be to replace the CAT with a midpipe. i am still without the car 2.5 months now. I bought fake spark plugs from a guy here in Greece (DO NOT BUY SPARK PLUGS FROM eBay Greece THEY ARE FAKE). Destroyed the CAT which in turn destroyed my engine. Hopefully by Wednesday I will be back up and running.
Thanks for the good words Kristian. All thanks should go to a guy called Chazz over at irishrotary.com, he started the DIY and to you for making a great video of it. What I do differently, is I take the ground cable straight to the battery instead of grounding to the engine. Does it matter? I don't know, but I figure it easier this way and the battery ground is the best ground. Also I plug everything together and then bolt the bracket into the car, I have found that it can be difficult otherwise, due to space limits that make it difficult to plug all the harness in etc.
You see how the harness going to the #1 coil is touching the engine hanger? You may want to remove the hanger or put some cushioning around it or it will rub through the wire. Ask how I know.
Nice one! i want to install the AEM Coils in May, buit they're a little bit more expensive ^^ with its 560€ its nice because its a Plug & Play kit so no need to improving like you did with the bracket :) as always a great Vid, and i hope that you had a nice slide/ Drift/ every else nice way into 2018 and ill hope to have a nice Season with Yuu-Chan :3 hope youll keep up the good work because without you, a really big Piece of this Rotary Community would be fade away and let that last Rotary of its own dying a little bit faster greetings as always from me and Yuu-Chan straight outta Germany
Well, you can buy the kit i have with a bracket, and it'll also be plug and play ;) Anyway, it'll be worth it! I drifted into 2018 full with motivation and ways to improve myself and my channel, so it's exciting already :D Awwwwww, that's literally the best compliment i have ever received, thank you
So judging by the pricing I'm guessing these are the knock off ls coils. Not a bad thing necessarily and they will handle a stock-ish rx8s demands... But just to note for ppl that are building their 8 and considering this option it does have it's limits. If you are doing an NA build and staying around the 9k rpm limit these are perfectly fine,. 10k rpm limit will be stretching these a bit. They will do 10k but duration may be a problem. They will fatigue faster due to the increased load. If you are doing FI then you will want to get the Delco authentic coils. They have a higher tolerance and will last much longer on FI. Now the iffy one is if you are doing NA build but going to extremes and building it all up for higher rpm of 11-12k+ rpm limit then you will want the real Delco coils as well.. the cheaper ones will burn out quickly at that recharge rate and even the Delco ones won't like it much after 13k. So if you are really pushing the limits and going 13k+ rpm then you may need a new coil system or even build custom due to the insane charge time demands
Thank you for the video...I have flitted the ls2 coils and new ht leads and replaced spark plugs...car starts and runs so good...however after a couple of drives cel is on ,car running good however. Scanned for fault codes po351, 354, 353, 352... I assume that the computer is picking up the new coil packs? What do I need to do to solve this...kind regards William
Great video. Thanks so much for sharing. The link for the coils no longer works though. I don’t suppose you have an alternate one or maybe have a good description to search for replacements? Thanks in advance.
The only down side to your bracket design is that you have to remove the whole bracket to replace 1 bad coil pack. Thanks for posting the link to a pre-made custom design that works. How long have the coils lasted? Were they made in China? I'm piecing this project out and debating whether to go with a kit or a DIY with piece parts.
about the stronger pull then before .... every little bit of fuel econemy is actually you, needing to press the gas pedal less. The engine has more power so this seems to be quiet a doable and also in contrast to upgrades wich usally make the car faster, more sustanible and more robust
I'm just about to do my own ignition upgrade. It's basically the same swap but with a ready made bracket (from Bennetbuilt) and I thought I'd review the process again while waking up and having my coffee. This is where I noticed you're using spark plugs for colder climates (RE8CL). I was always under the impression that Slovenia was a pretty warm country, so is there any reason you're not using the RE7CL's (For warmer climate)?
Excellent, that very nice to hear man :) The reason was that i was too late to order the ones from the US, and i had to get them here is Slovenia. I wanted the RE7CL but they didn't have them in stock, and if i wanted to order them the price was 180€. Meanwhile the RE8CL were around 100€ and they were in stock. So to not risk having no spark at all for the video date, i took the RE8CL. But on the next spark plug change ill go with the RE7CL in the link of this video. Good luck on your install, and let me know if you like the upgrade :D
Oh boy, did I? Made a pretty serious difference for something as trivial as generating a spark. Normally the car would sound like an astma patient as it tried to start (would take about 2-3 seconds) Now it immediately pops into life. Maybe 0,5 sec? Possibly less. I thought the low to midrange torgue is what improved the most. Idle is smooth and steady and the car sounds more like a rotary. Consider me a happy camper! P.S. they sell the plugs in the Netherlands too at my go to cheap crap website "winparts.nl" I believe it cost me 130 euros for the 4 plugs together. Might be an option for the future if you dont want to pay import tax and have stuff sent half way around the world.
Now that's what i like to hear! :D The difference is immense, and for the money, totally worth it. Thanks for the website, but even with import tax, they would still be cheaper than 130€ :P Cheers mate! Enjoy your new rx8 experience!
Might be a dumb question, but does it matter which connection goes to which coil from the adapter harness? I have never messed with COP ignition systems, i am used to distributor cars. I have this exact same kit, but i bought the bracket, after butchering my factory one that is.
hahaha it triggers me too, even in the edit and when writing the title :P Thanks bro! Glad to still have you aboard :) PS: Don't worry, my rx8 will remain rotary until there is gasoline left on earth :)
its really good that you can archieve such good mpg now with this simple kit! Its a good investment that will pay itself over times (and even looks better). Keep it up man, you're funny and skilled at doing stuff around that machine! Also i love the fact that you are in Slovenia, i am from italy (gorizia) literally 1km away from your nice country! I have a mid-sized workshop under my house when i work on cars sometimes with my dad, he did some rotarys lots of years ago (he has like 50+ years of experience into cars) on some NSU's! Love the quality of the videos and i am thinking of killing my bank account with an rx8! (killing it hard hahaha). Have a nice day man!
Hello dear friend.very usefull videos.just keep up uploading them)))can i ask you about the LS2 coils?Did you have engine light on after you install them?if yes how did you clear it? Thanks
Hi buddy, I did not have a check engine light when installing them. But i suggest after the install before you start the car, reset the ECU by pumping the brakes fast 20 times, until the oil pressurae gauge moves. Then start the car. This will prevent a check engine light. I
Hi and thanks for answering.))appreciate it. Am asking because i was planning to buy the BHRs kit and when i contact them they said that the engine light will come since the resistance is different from stock coils..I tried to reset ecu but with no luck.it doesnt do that.i dont know why.maybe because the car is imported from Japan???maybe will do a reset with a scanner?? Thanks mate.
What about this cheap LS coils? I ve heard a lot of premature fail ! Do you have them installed for a long time? Please leave us review. Do they worth it or is better to save money and get original Ac delco ? Thanks in advance.
I did this upgrade about 10 months ago. 2 of the coils failed within 10k miles. I don’t recommend LS Coils, buy NGK coils. (Also for some reason when I swapped to LS coils my crankshaft sensor keeps throwing a Cel. No clue why, went back to NGK and it disappeared) I even replaced the crankshaft position sensor and it immediately was triggered…
hi, i would like to ask, as i've search around the net and can't really find any info. is this mod necessary for the series 2 rx8? and is this ingnition kit for series 1 and 2 the same?
Have you done any track days with these coils installed? I am wondering how they will last when driven between 5000-9000 rpm hard for 20-25 minutes straight.
1) Did you plug all the wires correctly? 2) Did you find a good ground ? 3) Rest the ECU with 25x fast and hard brake pedals with ignition on 4) Did you replace coils, thicker wires and spark plugs or just coils? Let me know
So, when I have to replace the spark wires and spark plugs, which ones should I go with? I don’t think my original NGK spark wires were able to fit the LS coils.
No, the original wires won't fit the LS coils and also are way too thin. All the necessary parts for the LS upgrade are linked in the description of this video, so you can get exactly what i got :)
Oh lol, I don’t know why I never thought to check the description even though you mention it in all your videos, whoops sorry. Thank you for responding though. I recently did this upgrade and it feels awesome by the way. I feel like I have really good low end power now. I really hope its not just in my head, but it is smoother for sure.
That click at 5:18 sounded so satisfying. What do you do for a living to have all these tools around?? Or you just got them because of a hobby or something 🤔 Edit: HOLY that fuel economy improved immensely!!
i know, i left all the clicks in on purpose ;) I never rent tools, these are all my tools. I do lots of stuff my self ( house work, car work, DIY stuff, building stuff etc..) so i need a lot of tools to get various jobs done. I constantly buy new tools to aid new challenges. I was a Belly Boy in a 5 start hotel :) I agree! Now i can finally travel and not go bankrupt :P
I'm gona take this opportunity to do an "How to clean your SSV when those damn airpump bolts are round" video request. Additionally, may be worth it sometime to show folks how to do the rigid collar kit when you run out of video ideas.
I got the perfect solution to that! I'll make a video about it in the coming months :) Rigid collar kit you say? I would like to know more about this. If you don't mind sharing your experience by sending me an email, so i can learn a bit :)
Are you sure these are original LS coils? Cause the original cost more than 100 Eur each. Great tutorial but the price seems too good to be true for the originals.
No Vendor uses original LS coils. These are cheap LS copy coils. We have brothers with over 2 years on these coils without any problems at all. Think about it. Could even BHR sell these to you if they were original for $500? No. The main difference between these and the original AC Delco is that these have no problem at 3ms load that the mazda gives out. They can handle 5ms no problem (Tested). The original AC delco can handle up to 8ms where these crap out. It doesn't matter because we do not push these past 3ms. So they are fine.
A friend and me about 1 year and a guy in Ireland over 2 years. I will let you know if they fail. I do have a spare in the trunk just in case. These are so cheap that you can change them out every year. I change the spark plugs every 10-15000km and inspect everything like wires etc then.
Manos, I think the bad comments come from bad plugs destroying the coils. I think if you keep the spark plugs fresh then I don't think you will have any problems. My friend has burnt one of these coils, but it was stricktly down to the spark plugs being fake. If the coils cannot discharge then they will short out.
I'm just gonna paste the answer: No Vendor uses original LS coils. These are cheap LS copy coils. We have brothers with over 2 years on these coils without any problems at all. Think about it. Driven by madness so the ac delco original are better but not needed as the copy can handle the rx8? Do you know where i can find this product in europe or asia?
You finally did it!! Hod do you like it man? I'm the guy who sent you a pic on Facebook. Julio Romano on Facebook. Hey why don't you make a sound test before and after?
How could i forget you :D I love them! Now i feel as excited as i was when i first bought my rx8! I can't express my enthusiasm as to how good it works now, compared to before. It's a joy to drive it! I did a before video with my phone but the video didn't get recorded. I was pissed AF...
Hey in order for this upgrade to work, you must ground the coils to the engine directly. Like right under the bracket that holds the coils. You can ground it there. If not the car will work but in low voltage.
Cool bro. Now all you need is a computer tune up. Let me know who you use for the tune. I still need to get some things done to my car. I need a battery, tune, Sohn adapter, new transmission, clutch, re-install the catalyst, new MAF sensor, and maybe it will run like new again.
Yup, i'll do the tune after the rebuild( if i'll have some money left ). Yup, that's quite a list, but a satisfying list non the less. The new trans & clutch will make one hell of a difference :D Good luck bro!
I did it too.LS2 coils.10mm wires plus racing spark plugs. In my opinion it doesnt worth it!!! Loss of power and engine light came on. But of course the engine starts all lot easier cold n hot and run smoother and a bit more economic...
yes my good friend but as i said yo you engine light came on..i reset ecu engine light off but after a few kms light came on again.resistanse is higher than stock coils. And also i loose some hp.in my opinion it doesnt worth it!!best coils are the newest C type with racing spark plug.i gain back my horse power and a few extra ponys more.
Ops, i think i replied to the wrong comment. I apologize. Hmmm my engine light never came on... i guess it depends. So far that i know, only 1 person had issues with these coils, but it was his fault cause he didn't change the wires to thicker ones. After that it worked fine. In my opinion, when testing them, engine runs smoother, i definitely had an increase in high end power (actually feel the pull). I don't know why the CEL light comes on again, after some kilometers the ECU should adjust it. But i'm glad in the end you managed to get what you needed :) Sorry the coils didn't work out for you.
its not a complete disaster.ad i said it runs smoother starys much easier.no smell of unburned fuel anymore but notisable loss of power and engine light on. no doubt that LS2 coils are better but depends which brand and quality.i bought them from usa but it seems are not good for RX8.Now i ve got a friends stock coils but the C series and racing plugs.Believe me huge diffetence. Its like i have a turbo in it.its alive again. anyway me and my buddies we are waiting for your next videos. thanx
Hey, yes they are still running strong. They even performed well at a drift track day when i was in high rpm almost all the time. So so far they didn't dissapoint :)
I changed my spark plugs yesterday and my coils and wires last month and I still have a check engine light and misfire.. P1352 Ignition Coil 'A' Primary Circuit I'm getting choices p1352-4 some help would be amazing please
kealyrunkz You might want to check for compression. I had that problem over a year ago until I checked the compression and found it was low. Turned out I had a blown apex seal and it was causing the misfire code to pull up because of the faulty ignition from low compression. It might not be the same case for you though but worth a check. Delete the code of you can and drive for an hour or two. If it pops back up, test the engine for compression. I hope this helps.
Driven by madness I used ngk spark plugs and ngk spark plug wires and oem ignition coils. I'm not experiencing any low compression issues.. No slow start up or anything just a misfire
By: Cam VanDerHorst, Contributing Writer Mazda has made breakthroughs in rotary technology - and it may return to production soon. Fans of Mazda's rotary engine have spent years lamenting the loss of the unique powerplant and eagerly awaiting its return. In the face of ever-tightening emissions standards and ever-increasing fuel economy requirements, it has seemed - for a while now - that the rotary engine was doomed to remain a relic of the past. Perhaps more so than any other industry rumor, whispers of the rotary's triumphant return have appeared with unmatched regularity, only to wither and die on the vine just as quickly. However, this is no rumor - this comes straight from Ichiro Hirose, the executive in charge of powertrain development at Mazda. More Rotary Rumors: Rotary Fan Renders A Modern RX-7 For 2020 And Beyond Everyone At Mazda Is Dreaming Of A Rotary Sports Car, Says CEO The Australian motoring publication Drive had a chance to speak with Hirose at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, where Mazda was celebrating the reveal of their new CX-30. More important than a new crossover, however, was what was revealed about Mazda's developments in rotary engine technology. According to Hirsoe, what was originally intended as a range extender has grown to become a much more versatile powerplant in light of recent technological breakthroughs. He says that the new flexible rotary hybrid powerplant currently in development is so efficient that it could be sold in any market in the world - even markets with notoriously strict emissions regulations in place. Hirose went on to describe a setup similar to the Toyota Prius, in which the hybrid drivetrain has the versatility to not only generate electricity, but to actually power the drive wheels when needed. This technology, dubbed XEV, may make an appearance in production cars - at least in Australia, and, we'd imagine, Mazda's native Japan - within the next few years. That's perhaps the most promising news yet for the rotary engine faithful. While we may never get another car like the RX-7, we may indeed end up with something even better.
Driven by madness how much it will cost you the whole thing? And where are you doing it? The closest rotary service from me is in Budapest, 500 km away
Plain LS coils are not a perfect fit for the combustion of a rotary engine. You would do better with BHR coils which are re-engineered LS-based coils made for the unique combustion needs of the Renesis engine. Love your RX8 passion, but it is not wise to recommend plain LS coils for the RX8. BTW I am a rotary driver and owner since 1972, with over a million miles driven on track and street in seven different rotary cars from stock to heavily modified, both NA and boosted. I have used numerous ignition systems for my racing and street rotary cars over the decades. Cheers
yes you have to buy a specific set www.amazon.com/NGK-Laser-Iridium-Racing-Spark/dp/B008A2FOJC/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=rx8+spark+plug&qid=1609190480&sr=8-3
Yea, you can't go far with 1 tank. I will do a video on this topic. "best ways to improve fuel economy on rx8". So wait a bit more, and you'll have a perfect answer :)
My 04 rx8 (automatic) won’t have a warm engine start up, I have to wait at least 25 minuets after turning off the car with a warm engine before it turns over and turns on, was wondering if anyone else has or had this problem and knows a fix for it
Check when was the last time you replaced ignition system (spark plugs, wires, coils, battery, engine starter motor). If it was recently, get a compression test.
ReapersNative yes, that happens because you have higher charge than normal. Simply reset the ecu by pumping the brakes 20x fast untill the oil pressure gauge moves. Then simply cancel the code 😊 enjoy them!
Driven by madness hmmm that’s weird still didn’t work. I did see the gauge go up then back down, when it went back down I turned the ignition off then back on and started the car light still there?
Car shut down. turn ignition on ( don't turn on the car). pump brakes 20x untill gauge goes up. ignition off. ignition on, turn on car. Connect OBD 2 scanner, detect code and cancel it. Go for a ride and keep an eye on it if it comes back. let me know
Silvester Yensuang the like was for Iridium, so if you got platimun, contact the seller, show him the picture and send them back, and he must send you the correct ones. Bear in mind that IRIDIUM also comes in silver boxes. See picture: media.supercheapauto.com.au/sca/images/zooms/350790-zoom.jpg
If you’re not using black halo racing ignition coils you’re wasting your time and money. I can understand if you can’t afford them, but they can save you a lot of money in the long term.

Haha shhh don't say the travel a lot part, I am talking myself into this.
Ohhh, well then, i'll rephrase that to, if you own an rx8 :D Go get em tiger :P

NissanR33Ztune keep it stock. My friend has a rotary shop for a living and works on these cars daily and tells me stock is just as good.
I didn't go as far as an entire new adapter for upgraded coils, but thanks for specifying T1 L1 T2 L2 up top on the coils.

Around 70-80 euros

I Just did this mod. Haven't had a chance to really test it out yet because of the winter.
Jimmy Garcia nice! Well, I guess this video is another reason to look forward to spring 😄
Very nice. I brought BHR coils. Looks like this d585 coils. I brought BHR from friend for some 200 euros.

Very nicely put. This info will come in handy in one of my future videos about ignition. Thanks for sharing!
Good info! What ECU is well supported nowadays, Cobb AP no longer, maybe VersaTune, adaptronic, or MazdaEdit? Thanks!
mine are on the way an i cant wait i just need to buy new leads and sparkplugs now lol then i can start tuning the maps with the new ecu
Now it's time to repeat that dyno run :)
You bet! :)
How are you computing the MPG? It looks like amount of fuel being used for a given and known distance.
Otherwise thank you for the video!
Looks like he screenshotted Liters per 100km. Comes out to 17.4mpg city and 25.5mpg Highway
Great video. Thanks so much for sharing. The link for the coils no longer works though. I don’t suppose you have an alternate one or maybe have a good description to search for replacements? Thanks in advance.
Great vid. Been thinking of doing LS coils on my S2.
Thanks! Well, you got the perfect how to video for it :)
Great videos keep up the work 👍
Thanks :)
4:38 kitty mechanic spotted!
Kitty also does video shots, garage cleaning and background noises. Available for hire :P
Hey! How are these compared to BHR? and if I buy these, do I need to switch the wires? Since I got new wires just a year ago from NGK
BHR uses similar coils, and yes, you need different wires than original.
about the stronger pull then before .... every little bit of fuel econemy is actually you, needing to press the gas pedal less.
@@Flyingdutchy33 Hey did you get a CEL? I recently installed these (Bennett Built) and got a CEL. Any help would be great tjanks man.
Nope, didn't have any problems, no CEL. Sorry if I can't be of help. I'd contact Bennett, see if they have any ideas...
Nice upgrade. Which application did you use to calculate fuel consumption?
Might be a dumb question, but does it matter which connection goes to which coil from the adapter harness? I have never messed with COP ignition systems, i am used to distributor cars. I have this exact same kit, but i bought the bracket, after butchering my factory one that is.
I am happy to watch your video :) I mean all of them
i read "ls" and instantly tought about LS SWAP V8 RX8 hahahhahahh i was unsubbing so bad! ahahhahah nice kit and nice video!
hahaha it triggers me too, even in the edit and when writing the title :P Thanks bro!
Thx for a great video! Good job Man!)
Hey guys, Chrisfaux here!!!
PHILIPPOS then just cancel the code, and you should be fine 😊
Thanks.thanks for your help))
What about this cheap LS coils? I ve heard a lot of premature fail ! Do you have them installed for a long time? Please leave us review. Do they worth it or is better to save money and get original Ac delco ? Thanks in advance.
Can I use the OEM NGK wires with the D585 coils? BTW, Thanks for the awesome content!!!
No, they must be thicker, 8 or 10 mm
Slowly swapping the LS in part by part 🤔😄
Shhhhhhhhhh :P hahaha. But seriously, rotary till the end 😉
Baby Viper lol
Baby Viper how much $ has it costed you so far?
Haha I sure hope he's not! hehe
I did this upgrade about 10 months ago. 2 of the coils failed within 10k miles. I don’t recommend LS Coils, buy NGK coils. (Also for some reason when I swapped to LS coils my crankshaft sensor keeps throwing a Cel. No clue why, went back to NGK and it disappeared)
I even replaced the crankshaft position sensor and it immediately was triggered…
Great video man i have one question what application do you use for the obd2 scantool?
Thanks man! I used OBD2 Doctor Pro :)
hi, i would like to ask, as i've search around the net and can't really find any info. is this mod necessary for the series 2 rx8? and is this ingnition kit for series 1 and 2 the same?
What is the length of your L brackets and flat bracket? 1 inch or inch and a half?
Awesome video man ! Very helpful and informative! Definitely going to do this !
Thanks man :) I'm glad you like the video, but i'm sure you'll like the upgrade even more!
so that why my rx8 when is on idle is vibrating a lot and not on a consintent rythme ? need a coils upgrade ?
I need to do this BROTHER!!!
So the bracket you made was because the new coils are bigger? Just didnt see you compare the difference
Granted this video is a year old, the link for the coils are out of stock. Any suggestions on a replacement for them?
Hi bro, How did you measure the fuel economy like that? What's the tool and the software?
Hey, i used an obd 2 scanner and obd 2 doctor pro app.
Hey. Are you still using the coils you install on this video? Did they perform good until today?
Yes i do, still work fine 👌
Did you use the c1251 coils? As that's where your link directs me to but the description says d585
My mistake. Yes, i used C1251. I'll fix ithe mistake, thanks for pointing it out!
Any issues with dwell timing for the coils?
Have you done any track days with these coils installed? I am wondering how they will last when driven between 5000-9000 rpm hard for 20-25 minutes straight.
I'll do my first drift day end may/first days of june, so i'll let you know :) Stick around !
Thanks for the reply. But June is so far away.... I need a guinea pig earlier, ha ha ha
My hot start has trouble starting after i put in the LS upgrade any thoughts. It didn't do that when I had the old ones in
1) Did you plug all the wires correctly?
2) Did you find a good ground ?
3) Rest the ECU with 25x fast and hard brake pedals with ignition on
4) Did you replace coils, thicker wires and spark plugs or just coils?
Let me know
What was the outcome?
It fixed itself i guess the ecu had to catch up
quiero comprar hacer eso pero no es el precio que dice ud escribio dos link pero no se si esos son
Thanks man!! 😎
No problem bro! 👌😃
Great job!
Thanks!
So say I order some new coils, does that mean I gotta buy new brackets to hold them or can I just keep the stock ones??
You must get a new bracket. Because the shape of the coils is different
Hey i can see that you use RE 8CL but link from description show auction with re 7cl? So can I order 7cl or 8cl?
you can change spark plugs to be hotter or colder, mostly this is for turbo cars
the correct one for a normal RX8 is RE7CL and RE9BT
Awesome! I'm glad to hear that man. Yeah, it feel smoother 10000%. For me the difference was extremely noticeable. Enjoy it as much as you can bro!
hi, i have cel of p0351, p0352, p0353, p0354 after the coil upgrade using d585, what's the problem and how to solve it?
Did you mix them up or incorrectly install the wiring?
@@bluspectre2042 its installed correctly, after much research seems like jdm rx8 ecu is locked, once it defect non genuine coil it will throw faults
That click at 5:18 sounded so satisfying.
What do you do for a living to have all these tools around?? Or you just got them because of a hobby or something 🤔
Edit: HOLY that fuel economy improved immensely!!
You could also rent the tools.
Tom Arjannikov
Ah, very true. Can't believe that went over my head
i know, i left all the clicks in on purpose ;) I never rent tools, these are all my tools. Hi, which app are you using to measure fuel consumption ratio? thanks a lot
Hi, its OBD doctor Pro
@@Drivenbymadness thanks a lot!!
Nice how to ! What is the app you're using to monitor MPG?
sam Taylor thanks! I used OBD2 Doctor - pro version
Driven by madness thanks for that! Keep up the great vids!!
Thanks bro!
We're do I run the wire too that's says engine ground do I hook it to the battery?
No, you hook it on the left bolt holding the bracket, as i did on 5:03
can you repost where this exact kit and harness are? i cant find the exact one.
You can see the complete list of parts that i've put on my rx8 here( links should work) : www.drivenbymadness.eu/parts-usa-europe-selection
I'm gona take this opportunity to do an "How to clean your SSV when those damn airpump bolts are round" video request.
Additionally, may be worth it sometime to show folks how to do the rigid collar kit when you run out of video ideas.
I got the perfect solution to that! I'll make a video about it in the coming months :)
Rigid collar kit you say? I would like to know more about this. If you don't mind sharing your experience by sending me an email, so i can learn a bit :)
Done!

Did you use dielectric grease?
John Galouzis 2 years and working good ? Thats very good if you consoder i replace mine once a year despite the km
A friend and me about 1 year and a guy in Ireland over 2 years. I will let you know if they fail. I do have a spare in the trunk just in case. These are so cheap that you can change them out every year. I change the spark plugs every 10-15000km and inspect everything like wires etc then.
Wow i 've heard not so good comments about them . But 'll give it a try.
Why not go BHR coils and wires? those are a one time replacement for ten years
Why are the coils under 50 bucks for the 4? Ls coils that ive search are around 200 for the 4..
I'm just gonna paste the answer: No Vendor uses original LS coils. These are cheap LS copy coils. We have brothers with over 2 years on these coils without any problems at all. Think about it. Could even BHR sell these to you if they were original for $500? No. The main difference between these and the original AC Delco is that these have no problem at 3ms load that the mazda gives out. Driven by madness so the ac delco original are better but not needed as the copy can handle the rx8? Do you know where i can find this product in europe or asia?
The copy coils? The ones in my description i know work, because i've ordered them. So you can't got wrong
Привет! Где купить такой набор?
Yes, that's what i did :)
Do you need a bracket for ls coils ?
Yes
Do the spark plugs come separately or all in one package
you can buy a kit that comes with coils, plug wires and bracket.
I did it too.LS2 coils.10mm wires plus racing spark plugs.
In my opinion it doesnt worth it!!!
Loss of power and engine light came on.
But of course the engine starts all lot easier cold n hot and run smoother and a bit more economic...
Awesome! Glad to hear you had success with it :D
yes my good friend but as i said yo you engine light came on..i reset ecu engine light off but after a few kms light came on again.resistanse is higher than stock coils.
Its like i have a turbo in it.its alive again.
anyway me and my buddies we are waiting for your next videos.
thanx
@@philippos6290 so the stock c type with plugs are better?
or the ls2
Hey man,
Did these coils work out for you? Are they still running?
Hey, yes they are still running strong. They even performed well at a drift track day when i was in high rpm almost all the time. So so far they didn't dissapoint :)
Thanks for the reply man. Love the videos!
What parts did you use?
Driven by madness I used ngk spark plugs and ngk spark plug wires and oem ignition coils. I'm not experiencing any low compression issues.. No slow start up or anything just a misfire
Jairo Umana oh man that's what I'm afraid of
Does the check engine light blink or is it solid?
Did they work fine without having to adjust dwell settings?
So far so good, yes
Driven By Madness thank you!

Mazda has made breakthroughs in rotary technology - and it may return to
production soon.
Fans of Mazda's rotary engine have spent years lamenting the loss of the
unique powerplant and eagerly awaiting its return. In the face of
ever-tightening emissions standards and ever-increasing fuel economy
requirements, it has seemed - for a while now - that the rotary engine
was doomed to remain a relic of the past.
Perhaps more so than any other industry rumor, whispers of the rotary's
triumphant return have appeared with unmatched regularity, only to
wither and die on the vine just as quickly. However, this is no rumor -
this comes straight from Ichiro Hirose, the executive in charge of
powertrain development at Mazda.
More Rotary Rumors:
Rotary Fan Renders A Modern RX-7 For 2020 And Beyond
Everyone At Mazda Is Dreaming Of A Rotary Sports Car, Says CEO
The Australian motoring publication Drive had a chance to speak with
Hirose at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, where Mazda was celebrating the
reveal of their new CX-30. More important than a new crossover, however,
was what was revealed about Mazda's developments in rotary engine
technology.
According to Hirsoe, what was originally intended as a range extender
has grown to become a much more versatile powerplant in light of recent
technological breakthroughs. He says that the new flexible rotary hybrid
powerplant currently in development is so efficient that it could be
sold in any market in the world - even markets with notoriously strict
emissions regulations in place.
Hirose went on to describe a setup similar to the Toyota Prius, in which
the hybrid drivetrain has the versatility to not only generate
electricity, but to actually power the drive wheels when needed. This
technology, dubbed XEV, may make an appearance in production cars - at
least in Australia, and, we'd imagine, Mazda's native Japan - within the
next few years.
That's perhaps the most promising news yet for the rotary engine
faithful. While we may never get another car like the RX-7, we may
indeed end up with something even better.
Will you ever consider putting the 8 on Dyno?
Yes, definitely. I was thinking of putting it after the rebuild. Somewhere in september.
Driven by madness how much it will cost you the whole thing? And where are you doing it? The closest rotary service from me is in Budapest, 500 km away
I'm not 100% sure, but i think I'll do it in my garage. Still debating over various options. I think i'll know for sure somewhere around april.
Driven by madness can't wait!
Wow that’s perfect
How does the fuel app work?
Plain LS coils are not a perfect fit for the combustion of a rotary engine. You would do better with BHR coils which are re-engineered LS-based coils made for the unique combustion needs of the Renesis engine. Love your RX8 passion, but it is not wise to recommend plain LS coils for the RX8. BTW I am a rotary driver and owner since 1972, with over a million miles driven on track and street in seven different rotary cars from stock to heavily modified, both NA and boosted. I have used numerous ignition systems for my racing and street rotary cars over the decades. Cheers
Are the coils ok
Mine are still working fine to this date
Is there any particular spark plug for rx8?
yes you have to buy a specific set
www.amazon.com/NGK-Laser-Iridium-Racing-Spark/dp/B008A2FOJC/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=rx8+spark+plug&qid=1609190480&sr=8-3
whitch intake is this ?
How to do more economic my mazda Rx'8 ? I can 320km with 60lts
His rx8 starts in 1 second. Mine i have to hold for at least 4 🙃 i think i need to get to work
u should post about ur rx8 on ur youtube
Help? I did the harness coil swap works well but now I have a permanent engine light telling me my coils are bad?
ReapersNative yes, that happens because you have higher charge than normal. Simply reset the ecu by pumping the brakes 20x fast untill the oil pressure gauge moves. Then simply cancel the code 😊 enjoy them!
Driven by madness thank you! Do I do this with the car running or just ignition on?
ReapersNative ignition on 👌
Driven by madness hmmm that’s weird still didn’t work.
Go for a ride and keep an eye on it if it comes back. let me know
what coils did you use?
V8 C1251
I bought spark plugs from the link and they are not in yellow boxes , i got the platinum crap..
Do ls coil really fit the rx8 🤔
yes they do but you will need different spark plug wires and a metal bracket so it's easier to just buy a reputable kit for sale.
Are these coils worth the price 45 for 4
45 for each
Any check engine light?
you should not get a check engine light with upgraded coilpacks
if you did, then you might have forgot to connect a wire
Thumbs up!! 👍🏻
Thanks :)

Yes, you need those exact sparkplugs. The ones i linked have an really good price. Here in europe we have to pay almost double that...
If you’re not using black halo racing ignition coils you’re wasting your time and money. I can understand if you can’t afford them, but they can save you a lot of money in the long term.
