I sadly can't make it to Tulsa but thank you for a great informative video and I hope God continues to bless you beyond all measure. Have a great breakfast and a great tourney.
can you make a video about crank baits, spinner baits, and such as hard baits please? i loved how in depth you went with the soft plastics was so helpful!
My little cousin just casted her first baitcaster at my pond. A few days ago she is only 9 and immediately back lashes and I showed her how that is normal sometimes and how to avoid it. Then she casted like 3 times straight without any issues!
Tyler you killed me with the full spool thing. I was getting backlash with a full spool. When I had less than full on the spool, I had a LOT less backlash, but couldn't cast far at all. Thank you for explaining that. Practice, practice. Ok is a bit far for me, I'm in NJ. God bless you brother.
Thanks for talking fast, clearly and packing lots of info in just 6 minutes. Very helpful without dragging it out over half an hour with useless off topic talk.
I swear it feels like you put this out just for me LOL Was bait casting properly for the first time today. Can't wait to hook one on it! Keep it up Tyler!
I recently decided to dial in my bait casting, here's my beginning thoughts. Start by properly setting your dials, (go heavy in the begining, loosen up as you learn) Get comfy with your thumb on the spool, make sure you can accurately apply 25/50/75% pressure. Practice! I like to take my combo out to the yard with my cat. He love to chase it on the retrieve, but doesn't like it landing near him. It improves both accuracy and feel.
Do you guys tie on more line when having maybe 50 yards left or completely remove the left over line and start all over? The ladder seems like a waste of line but I’ve always wondered which way is the correct way.
Great video. I just got back into fishing and after updating my trout gear I started working on my bass gear. I went from a 30 year old quantum energy baitcaster to an abu garcia revo sx. The technics are still the same but I get so much more distance with the new reel and rod. I am even able to throw soft plastics with it. I primarily bank fish so being able to casting everything I have in the tackle box is important.
Totally recommend going to the bible study, i went last year and it was a blast. Keep up the great content Tyler and publicly proclaiming Jesus is king!!
Love this I recently got my first bait caster went with the bass pro carbon lite rod and carbon lite reel, set up is elite in my opinion, literally the same as the lews custom lite! Used the technique you mentioned in a video to put your finger under the line up front to keep it a small tension!!! But when Texas rigging it helps a ton! Great video, wish I could make it to chik fil a but Im down in houston and have plans! Cheers mate! Great video!
Honesty in casting, takes some go-nads to achieve what this guy has and be as modest as he is. Always enjoyed this content. Tyler was born to fish. I’ll take a spicy chicken with extra pickle. Gotta go take line off my baitcaster.
Tried baitcaster a decade ago, hated it,decided to give it another go and now its my go too everytime, took it with me to hopedale arctic char fishing, friggin blast
New fisherman here. Always wanted to learn (because of RDR2… 😂) and I went the other day for the first time with a nice guy from my church’s small group. I don’t even know most of the right words to use, and I had a… not bait cast… type rod/reel. But then I go and get myself a rod and reel that are within the specs I am fishing for and what do ya know I made myself a bait caster set up 😅 I was like “oh that’s why these casting guides are smaller and this dumb right handed reel goes on top..” , I literally just happened to pick a rod and reel that are for baitcasting. So now I’m gunna learn to use both types of rods and now I’m here 😅 thanks for this !
I already know how to baitcast but I literally just put a fresh spool of braid on mine, backlashed terribly then realized I turned my tension knob correctly but turned the breaks all the way down before I serviced it. RIP half a brand new spool
So for an all purpose bait caster (7’3” Heavy Dobyns Sierra- hear it’s more of a MH power), would you use straight flouro or braid to leader? I’m going to be doing Texas rigs, jigs, maybe some top water, but also chatterbaits and cranks. Thanks in advance.
Thanks Tyler great tips and got one more for ya…do you do the Roland Martin trick and color the last six foot of braid with a permanent marker…You know when the color looks faded?
Hey Tyler, I’ve learned quite a lot from your videos. Have you used the Shimano Curado DC bait caster. I’ve not been able to back lash reel. Take it easy !!
So I bought an abu black max and on the first cast the last few times I’ve had to stop using it because it immediately cuts my line at the reel itself, is that user error or the reel itself? I don’t see any jagged edges on it, have it on mono backing with 15 lb braid
i use a pinnacle bait caster a lot on the lake and definetly dont mind it but i have to admit i dont understand why people would choose a bait caster over a normal spinning rod a lot of the time. I hear people say bait casters are more versatile but in my opinion i can get better and further and accurate casts with a spinning rod.
to use a baitcaster do i need to have a special rod or what because my rod is really noodly and when i cast my lure goes in the air then my rod snaps back then my lure goes to the left am i doing something wrong?
I felt the same.but just got my first baitcaster last month loved it so much I am going to buy a new Shimano slx dc 71 now it's amazing. It's not as hard as everyone says it is. Just take the lure let and then make sure it drops slowly to the ground. Then your set Everyone saying it's more then that are crazy you don't need more
@@BeyondLimitsConfidential i bought my in a mom and pops fishing store but it was a Abu Garcia max x But I ordered the new one from a normal Swedish store
This is more of a fishing mistake then just a bait caster mistake but I have been fishing for a short time of 5 years and a lot of times for beginners they want to use a certain bait like a crank bait or a swim jig or something and that’s just not what the fish want on that day and they use that bait all day so I I think the best advice for someone who just got into fishing is to use lots of different baits and get a fell for them all but stick with one long enough to catch fish

First spend five hundred dollars on a reel that doesn't backlash. Then spend a lot of time making adjustments every time you change a lure. Keep a couple spinning reels with you so you can really catch a fish. Bring the baitcaster even though you won't use it to boost your image.
Even as little as I fish on shit baitcasters I don’t birdsnest once a day I just bought an slx and first day I through it I birdsnest it’s not always the gear it’s what you consistently throw and get accustomed to technology is great but repetition is better

Yep, all you right handed casters learn to cast AND reel with your same hand, so you can fight the fish with your non-dominate arm!😆 Makes as much sense as a baseball pitcher who makes the pitch, then puts the glove on the same hand!🤡
"learn how to fish a baitcaster" and "avoid theese mistakes" said a guy who casts with right hand and switches hands afterwards instead of avoiding the biggest mistake most self entitled experts make: Using wrong handed reel
Honestly there is no wrong lure weight on your bait caster. All you have to do when you tie on any size lure is adjust that circle dial on the side. Drop your lure if it falls too fast it's loose and that's backlash.

I disagree with keeping a full spool. This can be one main reason for getting nest.
But I agree with Every thing else you mentioned.
Great Vid !
I’m telling ya, once you learn to handle it, a full spool will ALWAYS be the better choice
Bought my first baitcaster reel this past Sunday - it took me a couple tries to get it down. Even caught something that same day. 🎣

minus the backlash with a normal spinning rod i think is the biggest plus
i learned how to use one last year after years of not using one , once you get it 90% of the time I am using the baitcaster over the spinning reel
New to these but I operate a winch snowcat, same concept with the spool.
Like crazy how similar the maintenance and having the line level being accurate and tight.
True
another banger. Thanks!!
Tyler what if you’re sitting what’s the best way to cast I’m disabled and can’t stand anymore
Spinning rod is going to give you less trouble from sitting position

Yes you need a baitcaster rod
The most dumb baitcaster mistake is reeling with the same hand you hold rod when casting

If casting needs to resemble a good golf swing I might as well stick with a spinning reel
If you use a nice light baitcaster, you can do it one handed in one quick motion with a flick of the wrist.
I make maintenance cast even on my spinning rod
OMG I dont need 300m cast lol. Just controlled cast under brush and such. Im in a kayak lol.

Backlash on every cast. I have a tendency to cast as far as I can
