One of my fears about buying a resin printer, is you could buy it, then find the LCD screen needs replacement, but the manufacturer has discontinued it, meaning you can't get it working again. While a resin 3D printer would be ideal for my plastic model kit making hobby (I generally build 1:25 scale car kits), an FDM would probably be used more for my RC hobby...
Great video! I have been wanting to get a 3d printer for a while. I'm still not sure what to get, but now I have a better understanding of what I'm looking for. Thanks!
for the tires, I always wonder what's the main advantage to rubber vs paint , this goes for regular kits as well. I heard that rubber can change over time, whereas painted ones ( espoecially when protected with clearcoat) should likely stay the same never knew there was a rubber like resin, this is great to know and might be useful

You need a curing machine to cure the resin after printing. Or atleast a strong UV light. That makes it a lot easier with the machine. Same for the cleaning

The 3D printed wheels look better than the kit wheels. I am wondering about the costs of materials to create 4 wheels and tires - is it cost effective?
Hello. These 3D printers do a great job. I bought a Doyusha Pontiac Firebird Trans Am 1:12 a long time ago. With this kit all lights, glazing and the complete wheels were missing. I never got spare parts from anywhere. I live in Germany. is there anyone who can 3D print the missing wheels for me?
That depends on what exactly you print and about 100 other things. There is an amount in the bottle. You can calculate in the slicer how much resin your prints roughly need.

I printed them out flat on the build plate, why did they egg shape on the sla printer vs the FDM printer, your thoughts?
I had it set at 0.025 layer height. And 2 seconds cure time. However, when the weather changed and therefore the room temp, i had mixed succes. I’ve heard that having a longer cure time works better for black resins.

Your compressor has an airflow of 17 liters/ min but on internet I see that the airflow of the airbrush that you are using is around 25 liters/min max. Is that a problem because I have a compressor that produces 20-23 liters/min and I am considering to also buy a mr hobby ps-290 but I don’t know if it will operate good enough?
That is probably only the max working pressure there. It is suitable for a 0.6 nozzle max, and has a maximum capacity of 6 bars pressure. I spray at 2 bar. So am not even close to using the compressor to the max. Think it should be totaly fine. Mine is. So with your setup being even more capable i don’t see why it would not handle it.
It will not be as good as with resin but you can get decent results (well, maybe not with model kit standards) IF you know what you are doing (like adjusting the dimensions to what the printer can handle) You need to know some basic 3D tools though
You seem to have a very large extra step in going from one software to another. Why not just import the model into Chitubix, slice and sent to the printer? You can add a printer and change parameters easily if your exact printer is not listed yet. The slicer you use looks simplistic, compared to Chitubox.

I do like Halot one, and the details of the model are great a lot, comparison to the filament .
I put everything at a 45 degree angle and use chitubox for a slicer

Hi there,
I have a resin 3D printer and I would like to help you.
What if we directly place rim to plate without supports? Only adding supports to inside supports?
You run the change of cracking/breaking the rim piece which is stuck to the buildplate when removing it. If you use a flex plate it could be possible
