    THIS IS A GREAT VIDEO AND I REALLY LIKE THE PRESENTERS. IT IS GREAT THAT THEY HAVE RAISED ALL OF THE MONEY BY THEMSELVES THROUGH CROWD FUNDING INSTEAD OF BEING PRIVELIGED RICH KIDS. THEY HAVE A LARGE ENTHUSIASTIC FOLLOWING WHO REALLY LIKE WHAT THEY ARE DOING. THEY ARE EXCELLENT PRESENTERS WITH WARMTH AND CHARACTER. THE SERIES IS VERY ENJOYABLE. THEY DO NOT NEED TO BE KICKED UP THE ARSE. OR ABUSED WITH LOWER CASE COMMENTS.

    Interesting note about St Helens Central station. When you're leaving towards Liverpool, the track has an abandoned route that cuts left and used to link up with St Helens Junction. The track for this (as well as the public gateways across said track) are still very much there, meaning you can get some great photos.

However... although I don't want to emulate A CERTAIN PERSON too closely, I _should_ point out that Mr Huskisson was killed at Parkside station (now closed) on the opening day of the L&M, not at the Rainhill Trials. And the first fatal railway accident in England was in 1815 in Philadelphia, County Durham. BUT I'M LIKE THAT.

    Manchester needs Piccadilly station taking out of commission, except the two through platforms. Victoria needs to be made into a proper mega _through_ station like in Berlin, having all connections at one point. Piccadilly faces the wrong way. Having two terminal stations in inland cities is ludicrous - they are a left over from the Victorian era. Terminal stations are very inefficient.

    • @stephenduncan3605
      @stephenduncan3605 2 года назад

    The oldest railway station could be a point of contention. On the first day the trains came from Crown St into Edge Hill before Broad Green. However, Edge Hill was relocated in 1836 while Broad Green is still in it's original 1830 location so some could argue that the current Edge Hill isn't the original and therefore Broad Green is the earliest.

    • @peterwhitaker4038
      @peterwhitaker4038 3 года назад

      you are correct about Broadgreen but sadly it doesn't retain the 1836 looks of Edge Hill. whilst it sits on it's original site it is modern bus shelter style, so give it a miss.

    Well I do not know how many Pacers you rode with Arriva Trains Wales on the Valley Lines around Cardiff. However this is your first unrefurbished Class 142 Pacer train! However it has received new flooring and seat retrim (the original Leyland TL11 engine with Self Change Gearbox was replaced by Cummins L10 engine with Voith Automatic Gearbox and the folding four leaf doors were changed to twin leaf way back in the 1990s), other than that, it is virtually original.
    A total of ninety six (96) Class 142 were ordered by British Rail and were built by Leyland Bus between 1985 - 87 for use on branch, rural and suburban lines that were lightly used. The design of the Class 142 is based on the famous, popular and well loved Leyland National bus of the mid 1970s which lasted in service until the mid 1990s.

      Lynxfan2 ARE THERE MANY PEOPLE WHO REMEMBER THE PACERS IN CORNWALL FOR A YEAR OR SO AFTER THEY FIRST ARRIVED? I WAS IN CORNWALL BRIEFLY IN 1987, I RODE THE NEWQUAY LINE, ON LEAVING PAR THE SQUEALING ROUND THE CURVE WAS ATROCIOUS. I'VE BEEN TOLD LISKEARD TO COOMBE JUNCTION (HALT) WAS EVEN WORSE. . The following year they'd all gone, replaced by bubble cars and older units. Also in 1988, I found one or two Pacers operating in Manchester still with the "Devon and Cornwall " maps posted inside. Pacers were regular on the Oldham Loop (I had a cousin at Old Crompton near Shaw and Crompton station, so rode it quite a few times), until conversion to the Metrolink system.

    Did they travel between Wigan and Liverpool via Kirkby because I didn't see it in the video?

      Dylan Conroy Ermmm... Okay? I'm terribly sorry that we seem to have offended you by saying something that had absolutely zero impact whatsoever on your life.
      I do believe we were saying exactly what we were thinking and hoping to show our support for Geoff and Vicki and perhaps brighten other people's days with a light-hearted comment about how, being individuals who are generally attracted to those of the same gender find ourselves falling every so slightly in love with Vicki and her sense of wonder, humour and excitability. In other words, we were having a bit of a laugh.
      If you have a problem with that, that's your problem and nobody else's. There's no need to be rude about a little harmless fun.

      How could anyone not develop a crush on Vicki? She's the cutest little goofball I've ever seen! If she were a train, she'd be the Class 139 running from Stourbridge Junction to Stourbridge Town!

      SO DID I, BUT UPPER CASE IS RUDE, IT'S THE EQUIVALENT OF SHOUTING IN SOMEONE'S EARHOLE !! SEE WHAT I MEAN ??
      IS THIS A SEND UP FOR THAT GUY TAKING POT-SHOTS AT VICKI AND GEOFF USING UPPER CASE IN THE COMMENTS IN THE LAST VIDEO ? BEST NOT TO STOOP DOWN TO HIS LEVEL.
      This is much better, isn't it? At least you found Wigan Pier, many have tried and failed !!

      HOW IS UPPER CLASS LIKE SHOUTING? THAT'S NONSENSE

    • @ianmcclavin
      @ianmcclavin 7 лет назад +3

      Jimbo McHooch Read that last message of yours back to yourself and imagine what it's like to be on the receiving end of it. I rest my case. And it's UPPER CASE, meaning CAPITAL LETTERS, nothing to do with Upper Class, or any other class!!

    • @jimbomchooch6007
      @jimbomchooch6007 7 лет назад +2

      UPPER CLASS WAS OBVIOUSLY A TYPO, AND YOU HAVEN'T MADE A CASE, AND WHAT CASE PEOPLE USE TO SEND ME A MESSAGE MEANS NOTHING TO ME NEITHER DOES THE FONT, SO I ASK AGAIN HOW IS WRITING IN UPPER CASE LIKE SHOUTING?
