I think that's why so many bandits like them. They're cheap, easy to find, easy to use and very few of them realize that they're about to get a sword to the face.
As somebody seriously in to historical archery and somebody who makes real bows, i have to comment on this one. Wooden bows are no toys, only if they are low draw weight or poorly made. Proper made simple wooden bows are very effective and depending on the draw weight, can kill pretty much any land animal, including elephants (like Howard Hill did) with a proper set up, so yeah, not toys by any means, primitive, but not toys. The longbow in skyrim is too thick for its with and i would round the edges a little bit, but other than that, its very simple but effective weapon, if it would be a real life weapon, in fact i plan on making one some day, like also hunting bow from skyrim, witch are the only two that could actually work as real life weapons, even tough both have some flaws as a proper bow design, mainly the extra mass on the siyahs (the end levers). I really like imperial bow also, and it's almost is working design also, but the sharp bends on both side of the handle wouldn't work, if they wouldn't be 90 degree bends it would be okay, but the 90 degree bend design would break.and that one is also too thick, it just wouldn't bend with those proportions, it would snap if somebody would be strong enough to bend it.
@@OfficialMyxomatosis I first really used the Ancient Nord Bow recently on my Nord Data folder. Was intending on using only Nord weapons and such. Turns out I really like it. The Supple Ancient Nord Bow is even more powerful.

Stalhrim weapons all just look badass. I love the idea of making a weapon out of enchanted ice, it fits Skyrim incredibly well. And hey, enchant a stalhrim sword with frost damage and paralyze chance, and you have a better Chillrend. And I'm one of those weirdos who likes the standard longbow. Simple is good. Iron sword looks cool too, fight me.
Yes, a bow can be used in a bashing attack like a shield, so all the spikes and such serve that purpose. Also, an arm and counterweight out in front of bows serve to balance bows making them more accurate, but not easily maneuvered during combat (At least in the real world).
Oh hell I wasn’t expecting to be here this early. Just wanted to say your videos are awesome man. Would love to know how the anniversary edition makes you feel?
I would have liked to see some sort of archery-specific crafting system in Skyrim (without mods) involving finding specific materials and wood in order to make custom bows. What materials you choose and the level of your Smithing skill could determine factors like range, power and the arc of the arrows fired. Which could be further augmented by the types of arrows used.
Yes there is definitely an opportunity for the game to have more to do with the various arrow types. As is, I wind up just using iron arrows all the time as they keep showing up from dead opponents and sometimes getting into steel if iron runs out.
Yeah, Orcish Bow is by far the best design compared to other Orcish weapons (thank modders for weapon mods). Nordic Bow is my favorite because, as you stated, it looks closer to a modern day bow even if it does feel a bit too ahead of it's time. Pretty much I agree with your entire ranking for this list, though I'd personally move Elven Bow a little higher. Pretty sweet video. Nicely done!
