If you can’t appreciate John Prine, you are a Grinch! A world class artist, and an even better human being, his poetic lyrics and down to earth voice gave us permission to cry and laugh at life. His music always puts butter on our daily bread. His final song he wrote is entitled “I Remember Everything”.
I can’t encourage you enough to continue to discover more of his songs. There’s not a single one that won’t leave you changed after you hear it, whether in tears or laughter. ❤️

So you get the reference about the 9 mile cigarette. John was a smoker all his life until he got throat cancer which made him quit.

Lump in my throat. I loved knowing he was one of the finest American treasures we had to offer the world.

We had "Baby Ruth" performed at our wedding (My wife's name is Ruth). We love John Prine....the best satirical artist the world has ever heard! RIP John Prine.

This is the song the proves that he was ready to go (die). He was at peace with everything. If we could all be so lucky when we go.

R.I.P John Prine. Probably in heaven right now smoking his 9 mile long cigarette ...

He meant so much to us in the USA, as a consummate songwriter, he could make you laugh and cry in the same song.

Stay on this journey with him. John doesn't ever disappoint. You will laugh, cry and remember when you hear his songs.

The other day when I first heard his singing I didn't think I had really heard of him before, but now that I hear this song I realized that I have heard this song before. So I have to agree, we lost a great person when we lost him so talented.

The crazy thing is that was the last song on his last album. Not the last song he recorded but still... what a way to go.

So glad that you guys appreciate him, I can see the joy in your faces, You know you can't go wrong listening to ANYTHING that he ever did. He was a song wriiting genius. I could however suggest one of his earlier "honk" tunes "Late John Garfield Blues"...just saying...lol

@@BrosReact0151 Thanks for the reply, I have been listening to him for over 50 years and he's never and I mean never put out a bad album, I know you react to a lot of music but in your down time if you want to enjoy him you might wanna get his double CD "Anthology" it has a lot of his earlier stuff and my personal favorite album is "Lost Dogs and Mixed Blessings". BTW: You guys rock with great reactions , I'm here in Canada and like watching you guys ,keep up the great work.

Sorry for your loss. Other great John Prine songs (there are SO many); Sam Stone -re heroin addict , Unwed Fathers with Iris Dement *not the version when he's really old cause hard to understand), Jesus The missing Years-- try to get a live version with intro explanation. Paradise. Great sense of humour and real heart. I only found out about him when he died. My family is from where he was from (Chicago area).

I couldn't listen to him for two months after he died. He has a story flow as good as ghostface killah. Try 'all the best' by him, it's a breakup song that's hilarious

John Prine was ALL I listened to for several months after he passed. It's funny how we all react differently, but we all share the love for him.

That is a great break-up song for once you get over the bitterness anyhow.... until then it's Dylans 'Idiot Wind'.
