People should not have to imagine these victims as people they care about or know to care! We must care even if the victims are complete strangers. Everyone deserves to be able to safely visit a grocery store, school, church, concert, etc. without fear of something tragic happening. Enough is enough. We shouldn’t have to keep going through this cycle to change something.
Please be aware of where your local/state/federal politicians stand on these very important issues.
Change is hard... until not changing is harder.

I think there's plenty of outrage, just not a lot of action, because people are willing to eject officials that won't action this legislation for other priorities they care more about. Also, because we don't even agree about what actions to take.

But Mr. Acho safely skipped the second part of any effective motivational speech: directing the listener toward a specific action. Here he said, "We need to have empathy. We need to care. We need to come together and take action." So, effectively, he was just doing the same as those who only offer thoughts and prayers. He gave support and passion. That's it.
What specifically can/should people DO, Emmanuel? You've got us fired up, now guide us! Should we email our elected reps? Study voting records of candidates? Donate to anti-gun causes? Hold a bake sale? Phone a friend?
You took the opportunity to give a three-minute speech to a wide audience. Next time, please make it constructive, not just cathartic.

I honestly don't think gun-apologists lack empathy. Even if some of them have less an emotional response because of the "otherness" of the victims, it's their analytical arguments that allow them to do nothing. After every mass shooting they scramble for reasons why _this_ shooting by _this_ shooter in _this_ situation could not have been prevented, especially by any gun safety policy.
Was the gun legally purchased? See, laws were working.
Was it illegally acquired? See, criminals won't follow laws.
Was the shooter mentally ill (duh, almost always, in some way)? Well, crazy people will find a way to do crazy things.
Was it the gun? Well, _that_ gun is no more powerful than _this_ gun and he could have killed people with a knife or a car or a bomb.
Was the school guarded? No? Well, a good guy with a gun would have solved it.
Oh, wait, the school was guarded and police were on the scene in 1 minute. Then, the school doors were the problem (Ted Cruz actually said this.)
Bottom-line: If one side of an argument keeps finding every possible excuse why _nothing_ could have been done but is unwilling to look at the one factor in every one of these situations that makes the difference between "a crazy guy doing crazy things and scaring some people" and mass murder, i.e. access to the lethal weapon, then they aren't allowing us to have meaningful conversations toward meaningful change.
WE NEED MORE FAITH...............NOT RELIGION ......... RELIGION ABSOLUTELY 100% WITHOUT A DOUBT KILLED FAITH!!!!

I won’t dare speak for anyone else… I know for me personally, in order for me to function and not allow the pain of hearing of one or more lives lost (no matter the race), I must put some sort of emotional barrier around my heart sometimes! Hearing of children, certainly hits me differently even as I type this, especially having been a substitute teacher for the little ones!!! 😢

Representatives who were elected by the people to represent the people, make that decision. These representatives choose to represent the special interests who line their pockets on a regular basis versus the people who give them a vote every election year.
