      It's the columbine effect. Mass shooting with guns -> Outrage -> Gun Laws debated, last mass shooting brought up -> NRA confirms guns are good -> Conflict simmers down -> Nobody cares except the occasional time it's mentioned in the news. -> Mass shooting with guns. It will never end. It's the human condition. We are born to kill. A living being seeks above all else to discharge its strength. Life itself is will to power, nothing else matters.

      100 mag drum, one bullet can pass through 4-5 people, yeah is VERY doable,plus ricochets. what you should be asking is WHY is it allowed for civilians to buy high capacity magazines in SELF DEFENSE.........who need that much bullets for protecting themmselves ?

      NightagentWill...What would this shooting accomplish as a false flag event for the NWO? Only possibility I see is the effort to pass legislation to ban semi-automatic weapons. But he used a automatic weapon which was already banned years ago.

    There is something very different about Conan and the rest of the late night TV hosts... he doesn't flaunt any political bias... he doesn't point fingers.. he tells it like it is in the most humble and respectful way possible. Bless this man. He is genuine.

      That's why Conan's the only good one left. I love Craig, and was mad when he quit his show and didn't get Letterman's Spot like he should have, but he did get out just in time before the late night biased propaganda machine was forced on all the hosts.

      DaSMURF13_MCTv lmao Colbert and Noah are the biggest propaganda machines on late night television. I like Noah as a comedian. I thought his stand up special was incredible, but lets be real. He thinks people who are leftist are inherently smarter then everyone else

    Conan addressed this very well. I believe that most shooters, including the one at Las Vegas, do it to go out with a large bit of publicity. They want the news to go up and for everyone they ever wronged to see and possibly think "maybe they were messed up in the head". I believe that once we stop reporting on these shootings on news, these occurrences will happen a bit less. Not gone, just less. Conan did this very beautifully. He didn't even mention the shooter's name once. He only followed how shootings have become more frequent and how they should not happen in a civilized country, and of course gave his respects.

    • @Guber-jn8lq
      @Guber-jn8lq 7 лет назад +39

      Echocookie Well of course something like "the biggest US mass shooting", is going to make the news. This isn't something we can just ignore. People died, and many family members and friends of these victims have been greatly effected by this. Not only that, but the media flocks to negativity, that's what gets the most attention. I agree with you about these lunatics possibly doing these shootings for attention and publicity. It's very likely. Even if these shootings were really just big publicity stunts, people are going to give it attention.

    • @Echocookie8948
      @Echocookie8948 7 лет назад +7

      Yeah I know it won't stop just saying I think it would be better if it did.

    • @ShawnLH88

      you can't analyze someone psychologically based on one action. you have NO IDEA what their motives or thought process was. not every killer or bomber seeks public attention or recognition.
      people are more complex than that
      every other country figured out HEALTHCARE and GUN CONTROL, yet we can't...HMMMMMMMM

    • @adamgardiner5869
      @adamgardiner5869 7 лет назад +4

      Echocookie Very well said. There is research and statistically based evidence that shows by not mentioning or glorifying the shooters name could, in one to two years, potentially reduce mass shootings by more than 40-50%. It's partly modelled or 'speculative' but wouldn't it be worth a shot? Spineless politicians being puppet mastered by the NRA is a waste of time...but perhaps we could convince the media?

Immediately after these horrific tragedy’s, the scared and traumatized American people have to listen to political bickering and told that because some monster snapped, the good people can’t defend themselves and use their 2nd amendment rights. If a comedian says "something needs to happen", it's open to interpretation and he doesn't offend all the gun-lovers. Liberals will think that he spoke about gun laws, but he actually spoke about something that changed in society. If Trump said "something needs to happen", people would expect legal changes which would be reactionary and unwise to promise without having concrete plans. I mean... it didn't stop him before, but it wouldn't be smart for a politician, while it is smart for a comedian.

There was so much respect, care and honesty in the way in which Conan addressed not only the tragedy of the Las Vegas shooting but also the broader issue of mass shootings in general. This is one more reason why I love him: he's actually a decent human being. I do wonder what I can do personally to decrease the amount of mass shootings in the United States.

    • @ericandy88
      @ericandy88 6 лет назад +56

      Although in Jimmy's case, because it happened in his hometown, he had every right to be angry & hurt in order to get political. When something terrible happens where a person lives, they would get that way, too.

    • @alosim1541
      @alosim1541 3 года назад +2

      I also appreciate that Conan can deliver his message without crying. I can't sit through Kimmel's speech because of that. I know it hurt him, but it was just so awkward. And yeah getting political about it definitely takes away the emotion of it all as well. And people will say that his response was warranted because it happened in his hometown, but I still think if you're speaking on a public platform, you need to maintain at least a little bit of professionalism, no matter how severe the situation is or how much it affects you personally.

I feel secure and the people here are actually a lot nicer than all those Germans back home, who never chat with strangers. Exactly if only all people would teach their young to respect life then none of this would happen. Instead we blame it on guns, games, songs, in the end the only thing between someone pulling the trigger is that person's thoughts/conscience. Conan said it himself twenty years ago mass shootings were almost unheard of but people began to do it because of wrong ideologies spreading like wildfire. America is more divided then ever, we need to get our heads out our asses and come together as a nation and forget about our neighbor's beliefs and politics, and stop teaching our children to hate the "other group", instead we need to teach about love and the importance of life. when people abandon common good morality and trade it hate of those who are different, then that my friends is what sparks these horrific things.

    The first mass shooting that I remember was when I lived in San Diego. It happened at a McDonald’s restaurant in San Ysidro, CA, near the Tijuana, Mexico border. I had just gotten home from work & my friend & coworker called me to tell me. As we watched it on TV, we were horrified...these kinds of things just did not happen. The year was 1984. That was 33 years ago. Now, these unspeakable tragedies are a part of everyday life. My God, what has happened to my country? This is NOT normal life, it is insanity & evil. I am grateful that my children are grown. For those of you that are raising families, I’m incredibly sad that this era is their childhood.

      +Dan S. he already said what needs to change.
      Conan: "I don't think that it should be so easy for one demented person to kill so many people so quickly. The sounds of those automatic weapons last night are grotesquely out of place in a civilized society."
      His stance, to me, seems clearly to be that semi or full auto weapons that can be used to kill multiple people in a matter of seconds should probably not be available to the public at large, as they will inevitably be used to increase the kill count in events like this. If the shooter had used a shotgun, pistol, knife, anything else... he could not have killed 59 people in the time he did.
      And before anyone says it (they've already said it in other threads): Yes, vans and bombs can also kill lots of people, but there are safeguards against the former getting into many pedestrian areas/concert areas and there are difficulties to making the latter (and you certainly can't just go to a "Bomb store" down your street and buy them).

    • @tharansmith200

      You have to remember that these people are criminals. Laws never have and never will stop criminals. You can't just say it's illegal to have guns, and expect criminals to follow that law.

    • @SmokedSalmon12
      @SmokedSalmon12 7 лет назад +102

      auto45 it's illegal to possess heroin but there are laws for that despite the fact that criminals won't follow it. Should we just be a lawless society since criminals won't abide by the law?

    • @SmokedSalmon12
      @SmokedSalmon12 7 лет назад +35

      auto45 we have to give mass shooters publicity because people died and the public needs to know what happened. After we discuss the motives of the shooters (either psychotic or unclear), then what's the next step?

    • @aaronrobison6260
      @aaronrobison6260 7 лет назад +23

      I don't think that's what auto45 is getting at. Obviously laws are good. Laws create order and subdue chaos. Those of us who are anti-gun control typically (I can't speak for all obviously) just don't want such massive government overreach. It's just like at your job, you want to have a good boss, but one who gives you autonomy so that you can do your work in the best way for you. You don't want a boss who tell you exactly what you're going to do every minute of every day. We can make law after law and restrict freedom after freedom, but there will always be those who break the laws. Freedom is more important. Those who are willing to give up their freedom for security find themselves with neither freedom nor security. Letting the government dictate every single thing we can and cannot do or have or see or say will only further harm the vast majority of us who will strive to keep every law.
      As far as what to do, definitely not holding these shooters up on a pedestal. They get too much fame and publicity and this can lead to copycats. We also need to better secure our ports and borders because that's where the majority of the illegal weaponry in the U.S. is coming from. Shut off the supply the black market and you have taken care of a lot of problems. Getting the government out of health care would help as well so that the free market can bring prices for mental health treatments down as well as develop better screening methods for mental health issues. Removing "gun free zones" so that normal, law-abiding citizens can protect others with their own guns whenever an evil or crazy person starts murdering people. As odd as it sounds, more freedom typically leads to more order. Lawlessness and freedom are not the same thing because having broad and reasonable laws is what makes us a free people.
      I really appreciate you opening up a chat series that doesn't involve yelling and screaming like everyone else seems to be doing. Talking and working together to find the best solution is exactly what needs to happen at a time like this.

      This doesn’t have to do anything with the NRA. The guns were acquired illegally and if that wasn’t the case then at least your argument is 1/10 valid

      Are the NRA also responsible for Mexicos murder rate? Brazil? India? Somalia? What about Chicago? How is the NRA responsible for the 760 gun murders in Chicago last year? Almost all of them were committed with an ILLEGAL gun. Chicago has the toughest anti-guns laws in the nation. Well?

      Is the NRA going around and handing out guns for people to use to kill people with, no they're advocating that people go out and buy a gun, learn to use it, and protect themselves from people who go out and get one illegally and try and hurt people

      An NRA member would say "These things happen NOT because there are too many guns in America, but because there are not enough guns in America." It"s the logic of the Mad-Hatter, such people are beyond reason.

    The "right to bear arms" argument was in place when people had a musket that would take at least 2 minutes to load and was very inaccurate. America, the whole right to bear arms needs to go away. Seriously.

      You wouldn't feel that way if some psycho like the btk killer broke into your home and was attempting to torture and murder you and your family. In that situation i bet you'd pull out a gun without a second thought if it gave you a chance to save yourself and your loved ones. I bet you'd be thankful for that second amendment right then.

      Arm the military and police with nothing but muskets and we can talk gun control. The right to bear arms is about the citizens having more firepower than the military. We need tanks, guided missiles, AAA, and perhaps some nukes.

      I love how you republican's come out with this bullshit. The simple fact is that you all love guns - It's an extension of your penis and you love the power that it gives you. You don't think tough gun laws make a difference? I live in the UK, check out the stats of fatalities from shootings compared to the US.

    Guns don't kill people. People kill people. If the killer didn't have automatic weapons, he would've used other means (truck or heavy vehicle, home-made explosive etc) to harm/kill many innocent people.
    That said, removing the ease of availability or putting tighter regulations on getting automatic/assault rifles, should be the first step in minimising the loss of so many innocent lives at the hands of one person.

      On there own? wtf are you talking about. I live in Manchester in the UK where someone made a bomb and entered a concert full of children and blew them up... was it the explosive or the person?

      Like Conan said, why are assault/military weapons falling in the hands of people so easily without due diligence and background checks. Furthermore, why do these weapons exist in a country like America in the first place, outside of military grounds?
      Although stopping distribution of these weapons won't exactly prevent all mass killings in the future, it at least is a step forwards in reducing the level of carnage that could be inflicted from one weapon.

      Johnny MotoRider why would you possibly think that if someone is pro gun they are pro mass shooting? Your logic is flawed. Semi auto technology is at least 120 years old, but suddenly nobody needs a semi auto? The fact that mass shootings, truck bombings people ramming others with cars is independent of the technology, but more the loss. of a moral compass . There was a mass shooting in France, very restrictive gun laws. There will be one in Australia soon. Mostly pro gun people want to keep those weapons because they are seeing a world go mad and they want to be able to defend themselves, nothing more, nothing less. And one more thing, if 4 thugs break into your home a"high capacity" magazine, also known as a standard. Capacity magazine, may be barely enough.

      no you are so very wrong. guns dont kill people, people dont kill people, people and guns....kill people. America gun manufactures has made american into a killing fields. More people have been murders then all the troops in Afghanistan and Iraq combined. YOU WILL have a friend who is shot and potentially killed..like so many officers who have lost there lives. Australia and japan banned weapons, and the death rate has drastically dropped to near zero.

      yea cause you are gonna kill almost 60 people with a damn truck or small bomb! I used to have that mindset but things have changed, if didn’t have the gun he had yes lives would’ve been lost but not as many. and the argument of “not making laws cause people will find away around them” is stupid.

    Watched this after the Vegas shooting... and am now watching it today after the shooting in Texas. Just an absolutely sick world we live in today. It truly makes me sick to my stomach to see these shootings become such a ritual in our society, and I don't think that Conan could have said it any better. God Bless those who have been affected by what happened in Vegas last month and those affected by the shooting in Texas yesterday.
