Conan always laughs the hardest at the most savage burns he gets about himself. He has no ego, and is the opposite of most talk show hosts, which is why he is the best there is. Conan is what Ellen PRETENDS to be in real life.

He came to fruition at the Harvard lampoon after 3 years of being a peasant for the institution then became the editor. He was around funny all the time and knows the patterns inside and out so he doesn't get offended but just appreciates when someone surprises him.

@@sherriffs2554 There was actually one time - ruclips.net/video/YMvYTUSez_0/видео.html - when he was trying to interview Bradley Cooper and something just genuinely makes both of them start giggling, and then they are fucked and can't stop for the next 10 minutes straight. It's actually pretty hilarious. Other than that one time, though, his laugh always seems fake even if it's not, and he's not a very good interviewer, either.

@@simpathetic1720 I can certainly see where you’re coming from, but I think the bit deserves more credit than that. The act of impersonating a turtle for a segment on a late night talk show (if the host will agree to provide lettuce) is just a conceptually funny bit to me. The actual impression itself is spot-on, and full of tiny, subtle cues that the average person wouldn’t think to mimic, but will immediately recognize as turtle-like. She also manages to continue the performance while everyone around her is cracking up, effectively delivering physical comedy in the deadpan style. This particular bit reminds me of something a young Rowan Atkinson might have done, and it’s brilliant to me. I think this goes way beyond the kindergarten level, and does not deserve to be relegated to the same level as toilet humor.

Conan is a master of conversation flow. He knows his guests. If they’re funny, telling good stories he lets them go. If he see’s them struggling he interjects. If a guest tells a joke and Conan sees the opportunity he’ll add to it but he’ll let them finish the joke. This a very underrated skill. Guys like Fallon, Colbert, and Kimmel are not even in his league.
Craig Ferguson was quite good too.

Love how in the span of 5 seconds, Norm went from absolutely disemboweling Conan with the Tonight Show jokes to genuinely uplifting his friend as "The King of Late Night."
Conan truly is the king of late night imo. No one else makes me laugh as hard. Seth Myers comes close, but doesnt quite get the recognition.

Every few months I go and watch that bit when I need a laugh. Just after this clip was cut off, Andy cracks a joke about how she came up with a good scam to score free lettuce.

But first of all was Johnny Carson.
He is by far the best all around comedian as well. He always keeps coming up with new ideas like remotes and without borders, which is why he is still watched by young people nowadays after being a late night host for 27 years. That's quite an accomplishment.

9:40 my favourite part lol. The why Christoph Waltz looks at Conan for that split second is perfect.
During the majority of the episode where Norm brings Conan a gift basket, it was somewhat apparent that Conan was nervous. He was in a very awkward position and simultaneously letting go of a lifelong dream. Norm was aware that Conan would be having a difficult time that night so he came up with something that would ease some tension and lift his spirit. Clearly Conan deeply appreciated this gesture, Norm seems like a genuinely great person and I'm glad we get to appreciate it.
If Conan laughs, you know it's funny. If Andy laughs along, you know it's ridiculously funny.
