not all magical items require attunement to use tho. That mechanic is about limiting characters power to not get out of hand, but if it applied to everything it would also limit the creativity and fun of using minor situational or fun magic items. Ring of shit myself/yourself is a perfect example of a gag item that shouldn't take up an attunement slot, Rob already stated that it might just not work at all if Bodger uses it on certain characters, so instead of using the attunement system to balance it he's just gonna decide on the fly if he allows its effect to happen or if it would be too game ruining in that specific situation

It’s actually a good theory, but here’s another one: what if Laethil is growing a clone of himself to be immortal? Sounds weird but I can explain. In D&D there is an eighth-level spell Clone (Ricky’s clone spell in this campaign). As we all know it helps to grow a clone of person using a piece of their flesh in 120 days and when that person dies, their soul transfers to the clone with no change except for the loss of their personal effects. It could be useful for Laethil, as he made a deal with Endelyn, hag of future and has no chance of redemption, so he probably knows he either will kill Baradun or be killed by him. Since Laethil doesn’t want to die he decided to create a clone of himself to get back to life in case he would be killed. It’s kinda like immortality. I know it’s not the best theory, but it actually makes sense!
