Amazing how the rock cover looked better than bobs ice armor 😂😂
Bob should get proficiency in Death Saving Throws at this point
Never ceases to amaze me how Rob manages this juggling act - so many players and NPCs on the board, somehow running a battle and a soccer game at the same time, and wrangling BATD which is like a whole job all by itself. I especially loved Rowan's increasingly nervous looks as his giant pile of hit points got whittled away. Their ability to play an hours-long complex battle and keep it dynamic and funny the whole time is always a treat.
And in a world with lore that's controlled by the BATD instead of the GM.
Looks like Rob may have forgotten about the soccer game though and the rule that if not a single one of them plays on their turn then the shadow giant dissipates 😅
@@TheArdor Primarily Adam and Allen I believe, but yes that is a weird situation that Rob has handled expertly!
@@Bassman-mp8lh I suppose it helps that lore wise Greg and Baradun are very meta aware characters.
Bob schooling Bodger on death saves has me *dying* of laughter 🤣
True that!!
They need to add that to the rogue expertise list on his character sheet.
I did notice he didn't uncanny dodge anything. He is at least lev 5 rogue, right?
If Bodger dies what happens to the doll that is inside him 🤔🤔
@@SongsofFantasy Rob needs to make the doll reform and come after one of the others. That would be soo amazing! MAMA!!!
@@caesarmedina8489 I think being underwater may have prevented it.
"I didn't hear no bell, but, I really wish I did!"
Classic Barbarian sequence of events:
First relentless rage success: “I DIDN’T HEAR NO BELL”
Subsequent relentless rage successes: “WHERE’S THAT F***ING BELL?”
"How does dying work?"
Bob: "I'm the expert on that."
I love the subtitler counting the times they say "BS"
Lorquins work is legendary
😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I love that Bodger got to do the whole, "I didn't hear no bell!" bit. :chef's-kiss:
Bob's going to write a treatise after this campaign titled On the Nature of Death and Death Saving Throws: A Firsthand Account.
"The Art of Death"
The coming back through spite from the intermediate state or "the Poligysian book of the dead"
As an expert in death, Bob's next character needs to be a Necromancer.
A position as necromancer got recently free, after a "work-accident" turned into the early departure of a certain "Boncaller".......perhaps B.O.B should apply........
@@jorgebarriosmur "What is it they used to call me? Bonecaller? Well, I am....Bobcaller."
They’ve already got the costume from when Phoenix teaches him to be good.
@eduardopena5893 he actually played the equivalent in the mini campaign they did a few months back. I remember commenting on how great a necro he would be and how happy each 1 he saw everyone else roll would make him happy.
I…think he addresses this at the end. In the NARE t shirt ad…
The ONE time Baradun doesn't remember to blink... 😅
As opposed to the pvp where wasting his turn trying to blink cost him the whole match
Given the amount of Bob’s “special time”, it makes a lot of sense why his main hand (with sneak attack) does so much more damage than his off hand😂
14:26 my immediate thought before the green screen cutaway was “Bodger just giving a straight up I did r hear no bell moment” and when he actually said it in I choked on my coffee
Bob having more HP than Baradun and Bodger? AND doing some serious damage? I tell you, the end is nigh
Well you say serious damage but I’m pretty sure he still did less damage than everyone this time
I genuinely love that THIS is the fight Bodger/Rowan is feeling the pressire😂 Like before his hit points kinda made him feel a bit carless although Rowan does think things through. This time though it's like Bodger has to face his own mortality. Then again he's a video game character who's probably died a bunch of times on an escort quest an adventure messed up lol
Midway through last year I had covid. it left me with a lingering, nasty cough that gets worse if I laugh too much. I started watching this while stuck in bed. Every Thursday now my cough causes me physical pain. Worth it.
"Laughter is the best medicine " or so they say.
Get well soon.
23:52 and Bob still forgets his evasion feat which means he can avoid dmg altogether.
Has he ever used Uncanny Dodge?
Uncanny dodge, evasion is for AOE attacks
220 episode, Bob says "Oh, hero poing may be used for crit, good to know")))
To be fair, its not like gets to actually hit often
@@Ejpon but who don't give them? Excluding Greg, on my memory it's first time when they don't get hero token.
Rowan/Bodger 🤝🏻The Metamorphosis (1915)
“I’m a cockroach”
I love that the players are allowed to create their own spells and items and that they are actually using them! That's fun and inspiring, I love to see that dynamic where you play with the rules, make them your own and end up with something new!
Damn are we actually going to see Bodger go down!?? Even if he does, at least he'll still have his expert-at-dying and good buddy Bob to help 😂
I had to rewatch the death saving throws lecture way too many times, because I was always distracted by Robs proud but at the same time full of schadenfreude smile and chuckle. Love it. This is the one thing about DnD that Ben learned over the years so perfectly that he can explain it to you while sleeping. You want to find out about Rogue features? Go somewhere else. You want to learn about death in DnD? Ben´s your man!
Speak with Dead is a gateway spell... to some great role playing!
“I cast Speak with Dead on Shmurple’s Corpse.”
BG3 taught me that speak with dead and speak with animals are spells you must always have. I force the dm to constantly rp animals and dead people.
@ My party has only used the spell on one person, a murder mystery side quest, where the person died in a fire. So every time they cast the spell on him (3 to 4 times total) I'd start with his corpse yelling "Ahh! I'm on fire!"
Might be why they don't use the spell anymore, lol.
This was an AMAZING episode, I even told my friends about it! The subtitles are SUPERB as well! (Lorquin? THANK YOU!) And big love to the VLDL crew! WIsh you big success!
I love how Alan's and Rowan's feuds from Playtech carries on in D&D
especially after their Quest icon grow-off incident, Bodger and Greg don't really see eye to eye on much XD
I paused the video for a moment when Ben was the one explaining to Rowan how Death Saving Throws work. Then I realized, yeah that’s about right.
5:27 B.O.B. ready to take one for the team 😂
To prove the incredible ppwer of Kelothak I sawed this barbarian HP in half!
THAT'S A LOT OF DAMAGE!!!
"And beware of Speak with the Dead! It's a gateway spell. No, I mean literally, it creates a gateway to the afterlife for you to speak with the dead. N.A.R.E.! Not Even Once!"
Just checked the channel because Tues and Thurs was dnd day for me... Missing the misfits hard now 😅😢
17:28 dang, that + 9 adds up to 49.
Rob remembered EXACTLY what he rolled against Baradun
Rob tracks what he rolls when he's a PC, he explained in Ryoko's Guide One Shot. He's 'dice-cursed' so he keeps track of what he's rolled to see if he's beating the average. I bet he does it as a GM too
@CurtisDarling lol
noooo bodger shulda turned a hit into a crit for the extra barbarian crit damage lol
I was already waiting for BOB to use the slipstream sneak attack to rush enter Withers butt and explode him from the inside. Would have been an absolutely glorious win for BOB.
I wonder if strategically it even makes sense for Greg to heal on his turn - the damage output is so high, I don’t think you can outheal that. Might make sense to let Bodger go down and bring him back up once his cockroach luck runs out?
He has preserve life which could have bodger 70hp. That should make a difference
Not against necrotic damage
@@Just_a-guy true, I hadn’t considered channel divinity. That’s life clerics for you! I am not sure Alan will use it though, his channel divinity doesn’t seem to be on his mind much.
@ I recall once when he talked about it and it was just to troll BoB during their fight with mammoth and I dont think he ever used it. Same thing with his extra healing, unless Rob tell him this he will go with just basic spell healing :D
I'm finally caught up :) Started watching this what feels like years ago and I've finally watched the whole campaign and am excitedly awaiting the next episode...
Many thanks for this fantastic content!!
As soon as I saw the thumbnail I knew Bodger would be saying "I didn't hear no bell"
all heals in my DnD campaign, are now blinding heals.. it is a brilliant mechanic
I think the spell that baraduns been casting is to make dejoph a real boy, but too also have all his powers, so he can let dejohp be high sorcerer while he continues to adventure because it turns out he actually does like the "brother for life". Unless theres a TPK
12:00
I READ!
Bodger your under water, the book is just a wet mess now.
Being able to read is INT, knowing to keep a book dry is WIS. Hence the failure
boy, I see two cockroaches in this episode! Both Bodger AND WIther. That thing is sustaining MASSIVE damage
Edit: fixed typo
I absolutely love this dnd campaign/show am currently on ep 106 and cant stop watching since I have stumbled on it(literally binge watching it) much love for everyone 💙💙 absolute comedy
It would be nice if there was an animation whenever a character/npc takes damage that shows a health bar (it doesn't have to show values if Rob doesn't want the viewers to know specifics). It could be a simple rectangle that is filled with red that empties out.
It doesn't have to "stay" on screen, but just pop up as a reminder of where everyone is during fights that span across episodes.
And now down to just the one campaign again! Brilliant episode as always. Been one of my favourite fights in a good while. The dynamic elements of this one have been Great 👍👍
You guys are awesome. Years of background dnd comedy while I work. I like the dnd cause everything is being imagined and I don't have to stare at the phone.
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love play tech and all the gaming skits!!! But you have to pay close attention.
I have a friend who is just like rob when it comes to campaigns. Detailed beyond belief. They would be create a game of the century together. I'm lucky to have him as a DM
Maybe someday Baradun will take _Mage Armor._
Would an extra 3 ac actually do anything when everything they’re fighting has +12 and +16 to attack
This is why my wizard loves his absorb elements spell.
Nope!! Halve that shit!
Can you do that as a reaction or you have to spend a turn doing that in advance?
@Karthull it's a reaction like shield, but instead gives you resistance against that element.
Ok good to know thanks
The effects this episode are pretty cool! The effects team deserves a cookie!
I didn’t hear no bell. 😂😂go Randy marsh! “I’m the best, around!”
greg is slowly becoming the most powerfull in the group? what a twist
I love the "I didn't hear no bell" reference
Bodger, starting to hear “mama” in his subconscious could be fun!
Greg, as a fellow cleric of life, i am begging you to please USE YOUR CHANNEL DIVINITY! It is extremely powerful and comes back on a short rest. I feel like im watching a barbarian that never rages or a fighter that never uses Action Surge. Channel Divinity Greg!
"*symphony of scoffs*"
this series is great!
finally caught up! one thing i wondered it may have been covered in comments before but why did bob never use the mask that makes you invisible but blind, but have wotzit as a fly on him being his eyes, would be amazing in combat with anything that does not have truesight
26:36 - i love that he got it wrong anyways LMAO 3 saves and you're stabilized not at 1 xD
It’s because none of their fights last past the 3 saves after someone goes down. Person is rarely going down in the first turn or two, 3 more turns to stabilize, and 5 turns is already a pretty long fight.
Plus it makes more sense/is more intuitive that they’d get back up with 1
Bodger Hero Points a hit into a crit and uses that Bloody Critical effect he has and the fight's over. I keep thinking about all the unused Hero Points in this campaign.
For Bodger there is no situation were turning a Miss into a Hit is better than turning a Hit into a Crit lmao.
@@thatoneLerrydude yeah exactly, crit is just soo much better then hit with these rules even without brutal critical... with its insane!
The difference would ba about 5dmg i doubt Rob left this giant standing with only 5hp after Rowan used hero point but maybe
@Just_a-guy the difference would have been AT LEAST 17, probably more like 35-40 with the Brutal stuff.
@@AxeMan808 How? Lets say that he hit one, missed one and can use hero point for one of those two. Going for crit would give him 3d10+21 (his base roll of d10 maxed +11 so +21 and on top of that 3d10, one because that is how crits work and other 2d10 from his brutal crit making it 3d10+21). if he used his hero point on the miss he would have just two normal attacks of d10+11 so 2d10+22. Difference is d10-1 and that would be average of 4.5dmg
Its +5 necrotic, you counted the entire attack as necrotic and Bodger shouldve halved it
yeah it was strange
It was an Eldritch Blast, so force damage which Bodger can't halve
@@Name.Random was it? He just mentioned 4 attacks and specified the necrotic separately. I could be wrong
@@alexmeans10 My bad, in episode 218 (around 15:00) Wither made the same attack, it was 4 Eldritch blasts and all necrotic damage. I assume this is a modified eldritch blast which deals only necrotic damage. Either way Bodger couldn't halve it.
The highlight to my night being that I work graveyard shifts in the west coast! Cheers to my boys watching early morning with me!
Only thing I don't quite understand about this battle is Gerrit's actions this episode. He wants them to defeat his wither side and a stipulation to that was that they needed to play a game and it was stated the party had to keep playing. Baradun's controlled rocks have kept the game going but Gerrit seems to have given up playing and is just attacking to kill and I think Bodger is the only one who attack him directly. So it feels odd for Gerrit to choose to attack the others with lethal damage and not play the game anymore. From a role playing perspective it would seem like this would cause wither to lose interest as the game isn't being played anymore from Gerrit's side and Gerrit is for whatever reason trying to kill the people he wants to help. I assume the actual reason is due to the damage Greg did and Rob reacted to that by hitting back hard to make the fight not as easy as it looked like it was going but still doesn't make sense from a story perspective.
Love the Chaos and hit backs on each other, this is the backbone of dnd grp😂😂
Love the series, can't wait to see the culmination of this campaign and start the next one.
Look at Bodger being all badass! He surely earned some big heals! If he wouldn't have engaged the other guys would have gone limp way sooner!
Go team Barbarian!!
The gentle irony of a battle of magic users against a legendary storm giant underwater while playing a game of boulder soocer, and Rob says “it doesn’t make sense that you’re hidden from him…”
Yeah that was kind of ridiculous, he’s let Bob hide with high stealth rolls before with less sensible hiding locations
DC16 Dex save on a lightning bolt seems about average. +16 to hit on a spell attack modifier seems like robs trying to kill them 😂
Great fun - can’t wait to see what happens next. Even if they win, I’m sure Rob has a lot more surprises in store for them with Kelothac and Leathil [and a surprise return of a certain fan favorite that was already exploded from the inside ]
Of course Adam has his own surprise spell for the end as well…
YES I have been waitin for the line! I DIDN"T HEAR NO BELL!!!
Doesn't Bob have uncanny reflexes to halve incoming dmage? I think he used that exactly once and then forgot about it for the rest of the campaign.
I may be wrong, but I thought an episode or two ago Rob said that forced movement doesn't provoke attacks of opportunity, but then the giant would have gotten an attack of opportunity if he had forced bogger to move away?
As far as I understand, movement that is physically forced (such as being pushed or pulled away) doesn’t provoke opportunity attacks, but movement forced by mind control does.
I love how you have a dice tray to roll in and you just gravity drop your dice on the map🤦🏻♂️😄
"No, the dice are fun...roll the click clacky math rocks."😂
bodger getting the bob treatment lmao
I agree wholeheartedly with Rob. Dice are fun. I always get a small pang of disappointment when Adam rolls digitally. The more dice, the more pang.
He is casting permanent copies of himself, thats why he needs the high level spell slots. And then he wants to use them to vote him i would think.
On one hand, I absolutely love the main campaign and am glad that I can now relax properly (since my last exam for the semester was yesterday). On the other hand, the grief for the Misfits having ended is still too near :(
Nah Misfits was below average glad it's no longer taking up time and resources for the main characters on this channel.
@@christmascritters3691 Misfits was great roleplaying, what are you talking about?
@sidroberts7960 he's baiting just ignore
@@christmascritters3691 While I love the main campaign, the Misfits literally were better at roleplay than the main group. Even Rob commented on how they paid more attention and could actually follow his clues better than the main group lmao. The main campaign is great, but the Misfits were great too.
Thanks for starting constructive criticism on the Misfits. I really tried to get into their videos but the terrible fake thick American southern/ western accent destroyed my emersion. I had to stop watching suey the third video because it just ruined my viewing experience. The rest was great but that fake accent was too much to overcome.
Speak With the Dead being a gateway spell 😂
At 5:25 someone on the green screen should have held up a red card for electrocuting Braden when they were saying he went too far.
lmao bob laughing sounds just like eugene crying 6:17
20:28 no! Math rocks are more fun! :D
Next tune Baradun levels up he should get an ability called magical bullshit
Bob saying i hear no bell still sounds cooler 😅
DO THEY NOT REMEMBER THEY ALSO HAVE A FUCK TON OF HEALTH POTIONS
its the classic videogame thing of going "eh that would be a waste" and then finishing the game without ever using them
Rowan did mention heal potions but then decided to go for the kill.
By fuckton you mean like a couple? Don’t they have 1-3 each? That’s like nothing. And don’t forget health potions also heal practically nothing, roll 2d6 healing or whatever to keep you alive from the incoming 60 damage.
Bob forgot to use his uncanny dodge? For the lightning damage 😅
I'm shocked, thats a new one :D
They're all forgetting a lot of stuff right now 😂
It's Bob, forgetting this abilities is a core fintion
This is like no other time during a normal week
Reach:Yes ❤
I just realized B.O.B is the player playing it on beginner mode. I've been watching since episode one 😂
ben seeing this happen to somebody else for once. baradun instant dead/saving throws
Lightning Strike, major damage, Baradun can't use any action or reaction until the end of his next turn, rolls for concentration save, uses a reaction to cast bend luck COMEONADAM! D:
22:32 How I have felt this entire campaign. (Bodger)
I’d love to see a colab with the ai guy. He’s got some good story line ..but this will always be my favorite dnd group .
Baradun: Loses his reaction
Also Baradun: Immediately uses his reaction on bend luck
*smh my head*
5:09 killed me xD
Bob actually has just mastered Feign Death, but sometimes he fools even himself.
So, the two most powerful damage dealers are close to death, or near out of commission.. Greg isn't taking anything seriously and is obviously hoping for Bodger's death.... This is really looking like a TPK or something close to it. BATD are still messing around casually, and Rob is now fully playing for keeps. Praying to Tymora for you lads, you'll need all the luck you can get. 💯🙏🍀
Love the muppet rock monster😂
Throughout this episode, in my head I kept chanting "T! P! K! T! P! K!"
I KNEW the “I didn’t hear no bell” was coming still epic af though
I haven't watched the video yet so I don't know if this has been addresses however I think Bob's Lakothec is in his Constitution amulet.
It's not.
Bob got the warlock powers before he got the amulet
@DH-xw6jp Yeah, that's the only problem, I was just thinking about the extra hp the giants have and how it gave Bob extra hp. I doubt it though.
Doesn't Bob have Uncanny Dodge as a Rogue ? So could've halved the Lightning Bolt attack damage ? He never seems to use his abilities so it's easy to forget he has them.
