Had my mn triton sine new and treated it rough. Used it 4 wheeling all the time. Used it on the property doing work it wasnt meant to do. Never ever had a problem with it. It carried a lot and pulled a lot. 170k on the clock and going strong. One of the best and most underated 4wds ever built. No flash tech and just a good simple reliable veh. Too much tech does not suit 4wd's and work utes.

My 2015 dmax was awesome for 205k until the transmission just went with no warning. The heaviest thing I ever towed with it was 1.5t and usually only to the local boat ramps, very rarely on long trips. I think all cars have their examples of failures, lemons and can be reliable.
It's not a one size fits all, rangers get the most flack because so many are sold. Hiluxes have their issues too, but they have a very tight information control channel to keep negative information out of the public's eye.

There common an can cause alot of damage when the belt go's behind the crank pully and chew out the timing cover or the scrappy tin covered wheel nuts that are always mauled or the gearbox pump dying in the autos or when the battery is weak or disconnected the car immobilises itself and need to reset the computer with a scan tool? As someone who regularly works on these, they are an absolute dogshit car, in ways you cant even imagine. Sure there's the transmissions blowing left right and centre, plethora of tennis ball sized holes blown in blocks, but then theres the 'ford-isms' they've deliberately built into the car to punish ford owners. Once such of these caught me out a coupke months ago on a customers car, which ran out of fuel and even after being filled would not start. Come to find out after some mucking around, if you run out of fuel in a Ranger or Everest, you have to do an OBD code scan and clear before the car will start again. This is one of mamy examples too... Why anyone would buy a Ford is beyond me.
