@@Joseph_Greco I've been trying to get a video on Kertész ever since I made a composition video a while back. I definitely need to bring his name up again maybe with a book or so, and Larry's work is amazing I just googled him I only knew him from his movies. Cheers Joseph!
@@TatianaHopper Some of Clark's images might not pass RUclipss guidelines (guns etc.)....but he's a great photographer.

Been an on-set photographer on a movie. It’s quite the challenge being creative and producing interesting photos in such a complicated world.

That's true I say it a lot and I'm trying to get rid of that "speech helper" as for the artist's work I get it but in this case all I had to display was in the video I didn't have any more photos otherwise I would've included them of course, cheers for the feedback!

I came across him a few years ago and remember being so impressed by the richness of his colour that I downloaded clips of his photos, like the one of the hotel doorway in Spain. Felt he was very much undervalued so glad to see your profile of him.
Actually I agree and feel the same he is so undervalued and when I found out about him my question was why haven't I seen much of him before or anyone talked about his work, I think he is really talented! Really enjoy his work!

'Style' is the cornerstone of thematic consistency; in embedding continuity in a body of photographs intended to exist as a project of some kind. Style doesn't preclude 'stand alone' images but stepping outside a preferred m/o and breaking new ground certainly helps to widen your eye for possibilities.
Today, the world is awash with single image photography, while themed work with recognisable style seems less common.
Apologies if you've already done it (and I missed it) but a video in breaking down your view of the component parts of what style is (and can be) would be interesting.

Color might be his most consistent star, but his compositions are also quite striking. The images that I came back to were the photos where he is using a shallow depth of field. Could be he was just dealing with low light and moving subjects, but his choice of what to focus on had me wondering if has trying to jar the viewer a bit.

Besides, I'm from Austria and I remember a female Austrian Magnum photographer called Inge Morath!- She had a huge impact on my seeing and thinking about photography ...! I think her work was outstanding for her time.....the 50ies and sixties....

A comment about lighting. Since the start of this year I have been photographing the same few city streets of my home town, Melbourne Australia. It’s come about because i have limited time and by chance i found a place where i could almost always get a parking spot. Because of my situation i dont get in to do this until late afternoon. It varies a bit but usually between 4-6-30 pm. I started in mid summer so there’s a lot of light until about 8pm. Now its mid winter and its fairly dark by 5 or even earlier. This was a challenge at first because of the low light but also opened up a new world as the darkness brought out all the brightness of shop and street lighting. I’m not sure how to describe the effect on my photography but i guess it was a combination of the new light sources and the way it illuminated the environment. Other than Covid lockdowns Ive never devoted myself to such a limited location and the limitation has definitely altered what i look for on the street. I can see how i could be at risk of copying or repeating but at the moment i see it more as refining. I think when you stop being excited by potential subjects or opportunities or the results you are getting, you are probably just taking pictures that you’ve already taken, repeating a search that is over.

Great video! Behind the scenes videos would be interesting. I recall one centered around Lenny Kravitz. His dad was a war-time photojournalist. Lenny uses Leica. He has one or two books published. It may have been one of your videos.

Great video. If you decide to do a video on behind the scenes photography from movies then I would highly recommend checking out the work of William Mortensen on the set of “The King of Kings” in 1927. Mortensen was a fascinating character and he is the reason I pursued learning alternative printing processes.

Hey thank you so much for watching! You mean Stevie Nicks the musician ? I wasn’t aware she was a photographer and I love hers and fleetwood Mac’s work !
@@TatianaHopper yes yes! stevie nicks the musician. she made some great series of polaroids where she used herself as a model played with lighting, different angles, mirrors... i think she also had some exhibitions of these photographs. its kind of fascinating for me.

Pinkhassov is untamed. He has no schedule, he has no projects. His mantra is "Porque no?". He accepts most work projects offered to him because it gives him an opportunity to travel to places he wouldn't (think of) otherwise. He takes photos in the same fashion. He doesn't limit himself. He doesn't work with a scene in his mind because then you are just limited by your experience or what you know and can imagine. He uses superzoom lenses, lcd display on his camera and (P) mode to takes photos as this way he can focus just on the scene and light and leave the unimportant technical stuff to camera. He is basically complete opposite of everything you learn on "street photography" youtube channels. Also it was Tarkovsky who told him to go out in streets and take photos and introduced him to Bresson.
(I attended his workshop so all this information is from there, but also I believe you can find this in his interviews as well, he mentions this quite often.)
This all resonates with me very much, especially because I suffer from aphantasia and it's hard from me to plan to what I want to shoot.
Also all photos in Sightwalk were shot in 10 days. 10 days. It wasn't even him who was doing the editing (the process of choosing the photos). He said he just only had to hold the editors back so they don't go crazy with too much photos.
Question: how does this photographer get to his final image? Does he manipulate the light and contrast, cropping in-camera? Or does he rely heavily on post production in a photo app? Or a I don’t know? Because both of these in themselves can be an art form unto themselves. Thank you.
He was such a legendary figure in soviet photography.
But I don't know a lot of people, who likes his recent work, it's just not really good any more. I don't know what changed him, french passport or shooting digital, but yeah
Understandable but I mean that's why we all like different things, I'm sure some people prefer his past work, some others the present, some the whole of it :)

Yes, the entire world is photographable. every aspect. However, i am not entirely comfortable photographing humans. i wish to be though. There are so many millions of photos happening within every second of everyday to be photographed.
