This is ironic, I just switched to PC myself. As a life long console player at 40 years old. I'm rocking a Ryzen 7 5800x and a 3080ti and I'm blown away as well.
that was the main reason why i switched over to pc, the frame rate and graphics. love seeing someone experience pc gaming for the first time like you did. welcome to the world of pc gaming! have fun!
I switched to PC gaming back in 2010, and the experience you're having now brings back a lot of nostalgia. We PC gamers sometimes forget how something that feels so routine to us can be a big deal for console gamers who are just making the transition to PC. We get so spoiled on PC that sometimes we don’t realize just how good we have it until we take a look at the console side. I can’t imagine gaming without the ability to turn off motion blur, turn off depth of field, and adjust the field of view to my liking while playing at a minimum of 60 FPS. Such basic features that we take for granted.
@@christownsend552 You're inferring, there is no mention of "all console games" in that comment. As someone who games on both console and PC, I know what the comment meant. Some console games don't even let me look at the key binds.
@@acurisur just because you knew what it means, doesn't everyone who reads that comment is going know what you meant by it. And as someone who games on pc and console, then you should know that console games have caught up a lot of ways when it comes to features, may not be the same but it's more than compared to what it was before the year 2010. Regardless of how you may feel towards console gaming, it's still has a place in gaming and is still relevant.
Welcome to the family. Like you, was a console gamer up till 4yrs ago. Started off with a 5600g+rx580. Seemed on par with my Series S. Got my son a Series X and and was blown away. Upgraded to a 5800x3d and 7900xt (match or surpass the best console setup was the idea) and havent looked back. 'Master race' is indeed a funny term in the pc community, with low/mid tier owners being the most vocal. It should speak for the versatility of said platform not just '60+fps'. You wont see that with the higher spec owners (well a small degree) but rather the ability to enjoy high fps & high resolution while enjoying what they love at a modest fps. I still play my S daily because I know its limitations and enjoy it, whereas with my PC, I'm trying to constantly push it to the limit. And thats the worst part of owning a PC. When you start pushing hard witj upscalers, then you need more RAM. Then you need a better TV/Monitor. It never ends. Currently waiting on prices of 8k 120hz tvs to drop so I can snag one. Its a rabbit hole much like any dedicated hobby. Got a new Sub.
I currently own both Ps5 and Xbox Series X, but I also my Pc with an RTX 4070 super. I have to say that I now remember the feeling that you are describing, so magical, so satisfactory and so transformative. Enjoy the transition man, enjoy every one bit of it.
I'm mainly a PC gamer... but I still have a PS5 and a Switch. I literally LOVE console. I grew up on console as a kid. I do end up playing my PC more often due to my friends and there being indie games and games like WoW and all that. However I love all forms of gaming. All gaming rocks! If financially able, it is great to have both PC and Console!
Welcome to PC! 🎉 I actually started playing on PC on integrated graphics in 2012 😂 There is so much to explore just within PC gaming itself. Not just mainstream gaming, but modding, emulating and more. You can even play your physical games on PC too if you don't like the idea of downloading ROMs. I've only have done that with PS2 games but there might be adapters for cartridges too since there is a large and active retro gaming scene on PC.
Ive been playing mostly on PC since I was a child playing on windows 95, I have always enjoyed seeing how changing out parts of your PC can change the whole experience of a game. I totally get the simplicity of playing games on a console, you will always get a good experience because games are made for that specific hardware but nothing will capture the same magic of tuning your hardware and making a game run exactly how you want it. It is very much a hobby in and of itself aside from the gaming aspect.
I joined the PC gaming space back when Covid-19 first came about here in the states and its the best thing I ever did for me and how i enjoy playing games. And the people who say they cant see a difference in 30 FPS and 60FPS are 1 of 2 things. Either they are lying just to be difficult, or they have never seen what it truly looks like and until you can experience it for yourself, you just can't understand. But once you see it and experience it, you wont ever go back. it makes me physically ill and nauseous to see it. But again, its what's best for me. Some people prefer the couch style gaming and that's awesome!! Gaming is for everyone and for everyone to enjoy how they like!!
I just got a pc last month and it’s blown me away aswell. I thought it would’ve taken me a few more years to get into PC but my buddy hooked me up with his setup and got me going really quick
Congrats on the setup! I'm looking forward to how this evolves. I enjoy my steam deck OLED and desktop PC pairing from playing DBZ on the steam deck on the go, doing a cloud save, and resuming on my PC.
Congrats on the transition bro! I myself just jumped back to PC gaming after nearly 15 years of strictly console gaming (I fell out of PC gaming when I stopped playing MMOs). I’m happy to be back. Felt like finally going home ❤ P.S. You should try playing on 1440p Ultrawide monitors if you have the chance. I actually find it more immersive than just standard 16:9 4K. You also get to push more frames because it’s not as taxing as 4K
It's nice to see you enjoying it. I got an oled steam deck a few months back. Have a ps5. Man, am I looking forward to getting a gaming pc. Steam library on deck and pc. Looking forward to seeing your journey man 👍
It’s intriguing to see your journey over different platforms as someone just kinda playing on everything. I have a 4070 desktop, steam deck, ps5, and switch oled. I’m not going to pretend I play them all equally, I have phases, but I’m happy with them all.
I built my first PC back in 2018. After being a life long console player. That PC sat for a solid 6 months before I actually dove in to it. Mainly because I wanted to really give mouse and key a fair shot but it was intimidating. After several upgrades over the years. I'm all PC. (I can no long play FPS games with controller)
There are two weird corners of youtube that I really enjoy: Videos of people from Europe or Asia trying American BBQ and people talking about getting their first pc and playing on high refresh rate monitors with a rig that can push it. Going from 60 to 144hz blew my mind and that was like 8 years ago lol. I just build a pc with a 7800x3d and a 7900xtx and I cant wait to get a 360 hz monitor.
I've always gamed on a PC, but I tried a high refresh rate monitor for the first time about 1 year ago. vkQuake, running at 240 Hz at 240 FPS. It was like seeing motion blur without the motion blur. As you say, it literally blew my mind.
But in the end they always don't take us up on that offer for the reason he mentioned "It's not what you said, just the way you said it". We got to talk to console people like they are Women and speak their language (kinda manipulative but it's the most effective method), even if you have something people would like they can just be like "I'm ok with what I got right now" A friend of mine said they weren't interested in CloudFlare Warp because She feels like 344 ping is ok, it reduces ping by 100 for me.
don't be afraid to turn down some settings in games and cap frame rates. you can get a more consistent frame rates, save electricity, and your pc will generate less heat / noise. often times there is also a point where cranking a setting any higher hits diminishing returns and uses way more system resources. there are a bunch of channels that cover things like this for each game
It is awesome to see his discoveries over the growth of this channel. It’s a love hate relationship with PC gaming for me. I do agree though it’s really hard to play games now at lower frames. HG!
It takes a little bit to adjust to M/K but you’ll get it after awhile. I still like useing a controller for some games and just casual couch play. It’s amazing isn’t it?!!! I’m glad you’re enjoying the experience. After this you’ll learn the upgrade paths and assembling your own build. (Its not hard; It’s like adult Lego’s)
I'm so glad you had a great experience! only uphill from here. I think now you'll also have a new perspective on the handheld PCs. They can be used as standalone devices. But they really shine as accessory devices to a main pc. Welcome to the club brother! Thumbstick thrashers live strong on PC
Sidenote: Agree with not loving the term "masterrace". For me, it's more of an understanding that for some people, PC gaming just doesn't fit their lifestyle, budget, or preference. And that is ok. It isn't for everyone. But for those willing to give it a shot or take some tippy toe steps in, its a journey nobody I know has been able to backtrack on. Play where you want, play what you want, no need for elite-ism. Even tho PC is obvi better ;)
sidenote sidenote; (updating these as i watch lol) eventually, i garuntee you'll want to try your hand at building your own pc or upgrading the pc. and kids love hands-on learning. its an experience you can share w/ your kids eventually. Setting them up w/ their own computers and desks. Playing next to them and getting excited about games and sharing experiences. Really building the PC gaming experience around personalization but also having a shared space - dude - talk about making memories.
Playing on pc since the 90s. I enjoy gaming on a console too, but pc is my main platform and this will not change anytime soon. Btw: My pc is about the same Specs (7800x 3d, rtx 4080)
Cheers buddy nice video. I'm a mostly retired PC and Console gamer having used both since late 80s early 90s. Also a dad, I just don't have a lot of time to game anymore. Most of my gaming these days if at all is done sitting on my couch with either the Nintendo Switch or even a mobile game lol. I work at my desk all day and don't really want to spend my evenings there as well on my gaming PC. I love the format of your videos where you just sit and share your thoughts. I wish you would talk more about the coffee! I know almost nothing about coffee and it seems super interesting.
Welcome brother! Steam on a nice rig is untouchable, awesome to hear you describe how I still feel to this day booting up a new AAA and benchmarking it 😂🔥
I started pc gaming in 2021 and for a while I played everything on it because of how good everything looked and how smooth it played as well. But I will let you know now, that will fade over time. The pc honeymoon phase is magical but it will fade. Graphical fidelity will eventually mean less and less the more you experience it to the point that I don't play my pc nearly as much as I used to because I have a steam deck and now I play most of pc games there in handheld.
16 years pc gaming here. During that time, it has faded a few times (Vista, Directinput, Windows Live), and times where PC just felt like a second-thought to any devs. Right now, PC is back. Console digital store closures up against Steam's far superior family sharing and general license longevity, Steam Deck providing a ubiquitous dev target among other amazing features, Xbox Day 1 1st parties, PlayStation eventual 1st parties (maybe day 1 at some point). It's a good time to be a PC gamer. Consoles are gonna have to do something about their digital licensing if they're gonna have any chance of clawing it back for me.
I been PC gaming since 2015 and I always prefer playing on PC over any of the PC handhelds I had. Which was steamdecks, Ally and Ally X, and GPD win4. nothing matches my Weight, Ergonomics, and Power that I’ve tried. Hoping in the future something will change my mind. But I love my PC and got my 2 friends to switch over along with my dad and all of them said they will never touch a console again in their life lol. Made me happy to get people to feel what I feel.
Love my ps5 pro as it plays the games I have like ff7 remake look amazing on quality mode. Traded in my og ps5 for $300 so wasn’t too bad of a hit and I play on a 100” epson LS11000 laser 4k projector that can do 120hz. I have a pc I build too with an rtx 4080 while it’s superior I just love kicking back and playing the ps5 pro and with pssr looks great. I’ll buy some ps5 games when it hits the 19.99 bins and play steam on my pc too great for both worlds!
You can get a very good experience on a 900$ budget with a rtx 4070 with framegen too, it can play almost all games maxxed out too at around 70 / 75 fps at 4K, but you can set everything at high settings and it will still look dramatically better then a ps5 pro to get to higher 85 / 90 fps. rtx 4080 is very overkill already lol, it might be able to beat a ps6 when it comes out.
Ps6 will not have a 40 series card in it. The exception is the 4060 cause it's relatively cheap. If they put 4070 or amd equivalent in a console the console will cost 1k minimum.
For me, I love console gaming because as a dad, I don’t have a whole lot of time to tinker with settings and stuff, especially when trying to get games to work on the Steam deck. BUT I’m moving more and more to gaming more on my pre built PC I got awhile back because consoles are getting more expensive for what you get. One thing people forget about with consoles is that you have to pay a sub for online play and cloud saves, don’t have to on PC for the most part. I love the ease of use of consoles, but if they’re going to keep going up in price for the performance and extra costs you have to deal with, I’m starting to lean more and more to my PC.
Now you're playing adult games, welcome to the party. 😂 Highly recommend an Oled 120hz TV for the full experience. Nothing quite like pulling down 90fps on a game as pretty as GOW Ragnarok or Ghost of Tsushima with all the eye candy turned on and that glorious Oled Contrast.
Happy to hear it's going well. I originally was on PS4 back in the day and made the switch to PC as my main in 2019. Going from 1080p/30 to 1080p/60+ was beyond a game changer as an action games player. It can't be overstated how just knowing your game will at minimum be at 60fps makes me more comfortable having invested so heavily into PC at this point where I'm at 1440p/80+. The biggest thing that I think people don't realize why PC consistently gets suggested against the PS5 Pro is simply that the pro is an in the moment purchase. Come PS6 generation that thing is going to be dropped just as hard as the PS4 Pro did and any future support will be a jarring battle like with what is happening with the PS4 and PS5. With PC you're honestly covering your ground for about 2 console generations, or at this rate possibly even more than that. So yeah $700 is less now, but when Sony asks for another $500 or more while also limiting what I did with my library and tech I would say the appeal of having my library through Steam and Game Pass just made the most sense to get my $1800-ish (I've upgraded and sold older parts to offset mostly up to this point) filing cabinet that makes me feel like I made the right move years ago I felt validated.
main reason i made the switch to PC in mid 2018, was i was fed up of being scammed by paying Sony or Microsoft free money to access the online portion of a game I've already payed for. the fact that's still a thing on console is a joke
I built my first computer back in 2015, it was an i7 4790K with 16GB DDR3 @ 1600mhz paired with a GTX 980 Ti. I could never go back to only console gaming I'll happily keep shelling out money and build PCs. Being able to use any hardware, peripherals, OS, programs/apps, launcher/storefront outweigh any price argument for me. I really see no need in purchasing one even at a discount. I can wait for games no problem as I got way too many to finish and any money I could spend on a console I could put that towards a PC part. My current PC crushes these consoles and everything I hear these console only players complain they aren't getting from these consoles I have and yes I did play a quite a hefty price for my gpu. Native 4K 60+ fps high with no upscaling bollocks with RT performance. I'm almost ashamed to say I once thought about buying a Switch but their draconian businesses model/practices and their lack of serious AAA games kept me on the right path. Thank god for the Steam Deck and my Roggy.
PC gaming has always been ahead of console. Having access to higher frame rates, and fully customizable graphics settings not only in game but from the driver settings will significantly make a night and day difference between the two. You do have to pay to play but it’s worth it. Not only that, first person shooters are far more accurately controlled when played with a mouse and keyboard than a controller. Anyone who has both will say the same.
Best Advice I can give is make the PC Gaming wiki your new friend if you're having problems setting up games, riva tuner for capping framerates when using a TV instead of a monitor (not just frame rates, frame pacing is also very important - it what makes the stuttering feel worse) and searching out optimised setting plus game on youtube to get the best performance while maintaining visual fidelity.
What stuttering? 🤣 Man I must be spoiled or something I never have problems with my PC, Games always play flawlessly aside from any in game bugs. Riva Tuner? Maybe thats your problem, all that software junk, msi afterburner, asus ultimate tweaker or whatever it's all garbage. Maintain a clean system with up to date drivers and no bloatware, might find you have less issues.
@@knifeknerdreviews4609 I don't have any problems with my system either and keep it pretty clean (a lot of those tools are useless or placebo's). He said he's using a TV and not a monitor so I suggested capping his frame rate (riva tuner is really good for this especially if there isn't an in game frame limiter) because getting any frame rates over 120 on his TV will be wasted and possibly muck up his frame pacing which will come across as stuttering even with a powerful card - it's not just high frame rates but also even frame pacing that makes gameplay feel smooth - why 30 fps usually feels smoother on a console than on PC, they're built for 30 fps.
@Nah_Mate_Aint_Nowt Ahh ok that makes sense I guess. Never had that problem because I always keep the graphics maxxed out so there is no way I am hitting over 120 fps on a 4080 on most games.
@@knifeknerdreviews4609 That's fair enough, I just know what it's like to run a pc through a TV on HDMI and not a high frequency monitor. I also find it's less rough on my card as well when I don't max everything out (a lot of those ultra settings do very little but can cost a lot and add to wear and tear) so I get pretty high frame rates with good visuals, which can effect the frame pacing, (which for me is just as important as frame rate - I am and a lot of people can be pretty sensitive to it - think it's where a lot a frame rate arguments start because people can feel it differently) especially on older games or unlocked frame rates - frame rates on consoles are also far less variable so you feel it more when you jump to PC.
I'm going to start my pc journey in 2025 when the RTX 5090 is being revealed. I'm still saving some money know. I've been a long time playstation fan but in my opinion pc has now way more benefits. It's always upgradable, you can play a lot of games (also playstation exclusives), games are mostly way cheaper, no subscription payment for online gaming (Playstation plus), if you want you can pair it up with your tv, no limits in game quality regarding performance/quality mode. You can not only use it as your game machine but also for other things like work, music production, video editing and more heavy tasks. If you have a steam deck you can even play your games on the go, save the game and continue the game on your pc.
Nice! I upgraded to the RTX 3080 about four years ago, and I don’t plan on upgrading again until the year 2028 or 2030. So about 6 more years from now. My RTX 3080 handles everything in my backlog with ease, so any upgrade now or next year would feel like a waste. I’ve barely even tapped into its full potential. I absolutely love this card and plan to keep using it for 10 years before my next upgrade! I love how long a good GPU can stay relevant for PC gaming, and the best part is that all your old games still work seamlessly after an upgrade. With next gen consoles, there’s always the uncertainty of whether the manufacturer will support older games or if you’ll have to wait and possibly repurchase remasters. I just can't see myself going back losing access to all my games like that. I still use emulators to play the classics I grew up with from time to time too.
@@DreamyAbaddon i too have a 3080 12g model, waiting for 2025,.....idk AMD if they knock it out the park with RDNA 4 + FSR 4.0 i may have to make the switch and make my 3080 my retro rig (ps1,ps2,ps3, gamecube, switch, emulation). CES 1st quarter 2025 will be interesting lmao
Sold my ps5 a year ago i have a i7 12700 and 4070 super you dont need to get the most expensive gpu to get better performance than ps5 pro, a 3080 and up is more than enough
@@smokegames1179 So true. I feel like PCs last longer than consoles too. It's really nice to be able to upgrade whenever you want. It's totally your choice when you want to upgrade and how much you want to spend for it.
It certainly has its place. I think anyone who experiences PC gaming for the first time will feel this way, I know I did. I've come to terms that I really do love both for different reasons. Steam deck/consoles allow a plug and play and more portable experience. Not to mention the Steam Deck is a great device for anyone who already owns a PC. PC is the powerhouse that is also the multitool for many other things you can do with it. In my opinion the best combo of these things is to have a PC and Steam Deck, and perhaps a PlayStation or Nintendo device.
Someone posted this video in a Discord Server I'm in trying to appeal to people how a 1 time purchase will last you for years & other benefits of getting into PC gaming. I switched back in 2017 all the way from Xbone. I heard you list off what is in your system. I didn't hear if you had a dedicated OS SSD storage drive. I just heard 1 2 TB drive. I would suggest even if you have a 2 TB SSD to get another 2 TB SSD & used it exclusively w/ your games & other stuff related to games. You don't want to load your OS too much because it will slow down the system. Amazing video fam. Loved hearing you are into new things
Hiya I’m glad you’re having a good time ! Just an update on what I’m doing , I’ve gone down the route of Xbox cloud gaming on a tablet with a controller . Sold my steam deck in the end . If I had the time I’d go pc I think . Kinda bored of switch at the moment
I switched to pc in April this year rocking. 4090 rig and DUDE I’m totally in love the fact I can play upscaled high FPS and quality on emulated ps2, Xbox 360 games alone with all the modern games as well is amazing GAMES LOOK STUNNING and the fact I can have RUclips on one screen and play on The other screen like I’m doing now is game changing NO LIE
I would recommend downloading the new Nvidia app, enabling hdr in windows, disabling auto hdr in windows, and enabling rtx hdr in the new Nvidia app. Also, make sure gsync is turned on in the the TV and in the Nvidia control panel and vrr in windows is enabled under "graphics" > "change default graphics settings" in the windows display settings.
I switched to PC after last gen. I was an Xbox user, didn't have a PS4. So current gen I stuck with PC, and got a PS5 to play a bunch games I missed. But I've snowballed for PC over the last 5 to 8 years. You sound like a budding enthusiast. There are some many avenues that encompass PC gaming. The hardware tuning, the software tuning, your desk setup, your monitor(s), hell even custom built keyboards, and finding your perfect mouse. It's a hell of a lot of fun. Enjoy it!
In every game, I go into settings and crank up the settings to match the gpu capabilities, then I turn off depth of field, motion blur, bloom, and film grain, and chromatic aberration. Sometimes I leave on lens flare.
Wait until you get into the modding scene, JD - - that's a rabbit hole you'll be happy to jump into. A recent PC convert myself (just this year), back when I was strictly playing consoles, I thought mods are only used by idiots who wants to have a sponge bob (or any other cartoon character) skin in any game, breaking immersion which I am not interested in. But now, I cannot play Cyberpunk 2077 without mods as they increase your immersion a hundred-fold by making the world more life-like and real to your desire.
I can tell the difference between 30/60/90 fps. I struggle to see the difference between 1440p and 4K. I attribute most of that to my using a tv as well that I sit about 15ft away from it.
As a lifelong console gamer… I have reluctantly made the move to pc. I have a desktop pc and am absolutely digging the fact that my pc has access to PlayStation and Xbox games. There has never been a better time to jump into pc. I enjoy playing on the couch and you can do that too. I don’t see the downside anymore. I still love my consoles as well though. More places to play is always a great way to find the best deals. Damn you got a hella good system. Great pick! You crush consoles now 🎉
It's because PCs are easier to live with now. Even now, I promise you will still come across issues playing games in the future whereas a console will just work. The pros vs cons are definitely swaying in favour of PCs now. Also people who are not into tech do not realise the benefit of a PS5 pro, whilst I am happy it exists, console makers need to market to FIFA and COD casual bros mainly now.
Can’t believe how similar our situations are, I built a 4080 super system last week because I thought the PS5 pro was a poor value and I might as well go all in. Believe me bro, I get it! 120 ultra on all games is still blowing my mind
A PC IS going to be a bit more expensive than a console. Yes. BUT, you CAN use a gen or two back. You can use a 1080 TI, a ryzen 5 3700X, those two together will run you about 500. Even less if you buy a used GPU. So you can build a plenty serviceable PC for the same ballpark. BUT, once you factor in game price. Steam Discounts, the price becomes even more competitive. And being able to play all your games on one system. PC has some really solid reasons to use. HOWEVER, if all your friends play on console for whatever reason crossplay isn't a real option, or you just don't want to deal with setting up a PC. It still is a choice.
It's going to be A LOT more than a console if you want an optimal PC gaming experience. A 1080Ti is fine for old games, but that won't do well for current gen AAA games or even PS4 games.
a PC can be more expensive, but its value is higher than a console. even a $2,000 PC has higher value than a ps5 at $500. can ps5 do native 1440p? no. high fps? no. if it can't do these important things, how it has the same value as a PC that can? a $900ish PC with rx 7800xt can do native 1440p/60 fps, and you use upscaler for higher fps. it's worth every $$$ you spent. PC has free online. consoles have paid online. that's $60 minimum per year. every year that pass PC value goes up by $60 cause free online. and this is 1 of the many factors that increase the value of PC. people think that a console and PC have the same value. they don't. it's like saying that a Ferrari and a Kia have the same value cause both are cars. PC = Ferrari, console = Kia.
@@SapiaNt0mata Well, obviously. But putting a 500 console against a 2000 PC is hardly a fair piece. I'm trying to push the price to performance. And PC wins in that super quickly once games get factored in. It's a lot harder to justify the jump from 500 to 2000. But if you consider the price of games, 500-700. That's about three or four games. There's a lot more reasonable investment into PC in that general price bracket.
Thank you, finally someone actually talks about why PCMR is a problematic term. I haven’t had a gaming PC in 11 or 12 years. Had a gaming laptop for a brief time during my studies in between those years. Which was an experience. Let’s just leave it at that. I’m excited to finally jump back into PC gaming and get Linux and Windows dual booted on it and also use it as a development machine. Wonder what it will be like after such a long time. But I’m intrigued to say the least. Enjoyed listening to your report of your brief experience with it so far.
This video hitshome hard. I agree on everything you said in terms of community. I am a PC gamer - been for years but when I was making the jump from Console to PC I got a lot of backlash from the PC community. For "wasting" my money on consoles up until that point, even worse for "wasting" my money buying a pre-built PC. Wait till you get into the custom keyboard community, the gate keeping in that community is 10 times worse 😅
People never factor in the cost of a PC. You can run a business off a PC, you can’t with a console. Also, if you are smart, PC games are 75% cheaper than console games, so you save money in the long term.
As an ages old gamer who built his first PC back in the PS2 era, let me assure you, that you can easily build (or buy) a very capable, easily upgraded gaming PC, for less than you'd pay for a modern console. And afterwards, you'll save up to hundreds of dollars each month compared to the console side.
My man jumped from knowing nothing about pc gaming to getting a 4080 super lol. Thats conviction. The good news is, as long as you dont let your compulsivity take over, you may not have to upgrade your graphics card for damn near a decade. Unless in time you become one of those "the game doesnt work right unless its running at ultra settings, native 4k 144 fps" guys. Just try to avoid becoming one of those.
All that's left is a Super Ultrawide(32:9) with a Monitor Arm(a must!). When your in a Dark Room and the Curved Super Ultrawide is filling your vision, as the monitor arm creates this floating effect, and the bezel disappears in the darkness, the experience becomes sublime. Games that were 7s become 8s at Super Ultrawide. Like Evil West. Its maybe a 7 but at Super Ultrawide its insane visually because of the colors and artstyle.
Despite the heavy price of a PC, you make your money back in savings when buying games, not only that but modding can rejuvenate interest in games that you thought you were done with, I thought I was through playing Sifu But being able to mod in different fighting styles and play as Batman, daredevil , Tifa , and the golden Power Ranger kept me entertained enough to go for another another few runs.
We should be holding Nintendo to the same 60 FPS standard as everyone else. Don't let Nintendo slide simply because they make "cartoon games." There's a reason why I prefer to play BotW on my PC via emulation instead of on either a Switch or my Wii U (which I do have a copy of BotW for). On PC I get to play it at 1080p and 60 FPS, and that's only because I only have a 1080p monitor right now. Believe me, it's a much better experience this way.
Mini itx pcs are the size of a console if you do it right and inform yourself and you can have the convenience of a console in a pc that’s easy to carry it’s actually pretty cool so see how practical a pc can be if done right
i will never understand this "i want to chill on my couch". there are streamers that stream 4-5-6-7 hours from a chair and there are no complains. it's all in your head. consoles struggle to hit 60 fps. this is not the 90's anymore. i prefer to sacrifice not playing on my couch and get better gameplay experience. did you see what the Alan Wake 2 devs said? the game on ps5 pro is 864p resolution and it's upscaled to higher resolution. this is how all the AAA games will be(especially the newer ones that are/will be more demanding) cause in order to get better visuals, etc some sacrifice has to be made. that's the resolution. you want me to pay $700 for this? nope. i'd rather get a PC and play sitting on a chair. gameplay experience > practicality. if you want to sacrifice gameplay experience cause you want to sit on a couch, you do you homie.

thats assuming you are just thinking of pc gaming as sitting hunched over a desk for hours, there's so much flexibility with pc's that you can pretty much set them up like a console and use either xbox or ps5 controller. i personally play on a 50 inch tv in my bedroom with a controller while i lay on my bed. if i wanted to use m+kb i could just use my wireless ones or get some cabled options for better latency but i find it more enjoyable to just game with a controller even if that puts me at a disadvantage. i'd rather have fun with gaming rather then obsess over every little edge i can gain. that's why i love pc's, you don't have to limit yourself if you dont want to.
The only thing I wish is that these new Oled tv’s with the 120/144 panels; had a display port 1.4 or 2.1 computer input. HDMI 2.1 is ok but the cords can be wonky and I feel better locking a DP in place.
Been console gaming since 1985. Star Citizen is what made me want to build my 1st PC this year, Sept in fact. Been following that game since 2014, always wondering when am i going to pull the trigger. Black Myth Wukong seeing how it ran on PS5, "THE MOST POWERFUL CONSOLE" made me realize, It's Time! Yes my 4090 7950x3d with 64gb of ram build might be the price of 3 PS5 Pro's, but PC is really the only platform besides Nintendo where you will not be able to find exclusive games like Star Citizen. Meanwhile, companies like Sony and Microsoft are turning into 3rd party publishers.
I love your enthusiasm. Welcome to the Master race! I do however have one small complaint: this weird notion, that EVERY zoomer influencer appears to parrot, that you would NEED to burn 2k USD to get a decent gaming PC. I have never paid even HALF of that on my computers the past 20 years, and all of them served me well, almost for a decade each. 600€ gets you a system with Ryzen 7, 16-32GB DDR4 and RTX 3060ti, which will easily run any game at native 1080p, real 60 to 120 fps, with decently high settings. Including heav8er tasks like PS3 emulation. And I must stress the NATIVE and REAL parts, because all these DLSS and FSR upscalers and framegens muddy the conversation these days; the new SH2 remake for example runs at choppy 30fps and 800-1200p on the PS5, where as even my old GTX1060 with R5 5600X could do 60 with very little effort! And I just replaced said GPU with 3060 12GB, paid only 200e for one.
I am a software engineer. It is funny to say this, but because of my work, I HATE struggling and figuring out issues, bugs, Windows updates, driver updates etc...I don't have a lot of time and I already do bug fixing and stuff all day. I just want to press a button, sit down and enjoy 1 hour of hassle free gameplay. That is why I still prefer console. I will definitely build a PC with my son when the time comes again, but I had enough of that stuff.
That "issues" stuff has to go, i literally boot my pc up and go straight into a game.. only way you can have issues if you dont know the basics of PC gaming.
@@kenshisanki If he’s a software engineer, that’s pretty concerning. As a casual PC gamer with no tech background, I turn on my computer, grab my controller, and launch Steam Big Picture mode and just game. Everything works smoothly 99% of the time. And if a game has issues, I can easily install a fan-made patch and get back to playing. So, if I can do this without much effort, I’d expect a professional software engineer to handle it even better… otherwise, something’s not right. Just think about that for a second.
windows updates is not that hassle. it don't even take 30 seconds to start the update. also, you don't have to do windows update every time there is an update. why you make such a non-issue an issue? i don't know. you make it seem such a hassle, while in reality its not. it's not PC that's the problem. it's you that have created the problems in your head.
consoles struggle to hit 60 fps. performance mode drops the graphic setting to low-mid to try and achieve 60 fps. there are many games that can't do 60 fps even in performance mode. it ruins the gameplay experience for me, and i don't want to pay my hard-earned money for this bullcrap. games on ps5 pro look better than ps5, but there's a catch. they have to decrease the native resolution below 1080p and then use upscaler to upscale it to 1080p or whatever. Alan Wake 2 devs said that the game runs at 864p resolution on ps5 pro. it's upscaled to 1080p. it's not native. and Sony wants $700+ for this gaming experience. no thanks. i prefer to download windows drivers than pay $700 for this.
I keep coming back to your channel with every name change or different path you take as a gamer matches up with mine from the steam deck to the PC I got into PC gaming in 2021 when it be came a bit more affordable again in 2024 PC gaming probably has the lowest cost to entry if you know what you are doing deals can be amazing and don't worry about the fomo find a build that fits your needs
High end PC gaming is certainly a boutique experience. Your specs are close to mine except I have a 5900X. You should try Cyberpunk on PC. Oh! Just wait until you start getting into mods, it's truly a whole new world for your old games.
yeah, im coming from always playing council to playing pc for a few years but now as a husband i've basically now moved onto mobile gaming lol its all about schedule
PC gaming will always be best to me. I have a PS5, SteamDeck and PC and the PC gets most of my playtime. Steam and all their sales just kills any other digital video game store out there. My 4080 and i9 13900k just destroy every game I play too and when I go to my PS5, it looks noticeably worse, especially BO6. Way to go man!
I've had PCs since around 2000 but they were all budget builds so I couldn't really have the total experience, so I still played my consoles more. Built my first actual gaming rig earlier this year and none of my consoles have been powered on since.
Welcome. I transitioned in a January. The PC enthusiasts are also far less toxic than these new console gamers. I just can’t. I’ve seen frames and visuals I never even dreamed of on console. Without a upscaler mind you.
You're spending a lot of money on a device that will probably be replaced in about a year or so, in the case of the console, whereas that PC will be around a lot longer. We are more than halfway through the PS5 lifecycle and the Pro comes along. How long do you think that will last? I wouldn't say it would be money well spent. Not unless of course you don't have the original PS5 and are upgrading from say the PS4. With that kind of cash though you'd be better off buying a mid-range PC as you will get upgradability and a lot more long-term value. You will get used to the fans and soon you'll not notice.
I switched to pc a few months ago after growing up with xbox. Pc is so much better, cant beat the customization and high frame rate. Still trying to get a hang of the mouse and keyboard but I actually prefer it.
I cant be happier when i switch from consoles 2017 ill never go back rocking my old grandma spec pc Amd ryzen 3200g with radeon rx 6400 and im waaay above console's 30fps plus i has raytracing plus fsr3 plus afmf up scaling ill upgrade sometime in the near future when ryzen 5000 totally become extra budget but for now im very comfortable with what and how a game i dont miss a thing in the pc world
I love my laptop. pretty beastly, 13900hx, 4090, 128gb ddr5, x2 2tb nvme in raid 0. I have been a PC gamer forever and will never switch. I also have a Gaming PC with a 4080 super and a 7800x3d and 64gb ddr5. Consoles have there place of course but they just are not for me. Id rather spend thousands on a PC or even just a graphics card then buy a console
Yeah, that's pretty sweet system man! That's a 4k/1440p beast right there. I have like a 4060 and 7600x with 64 GB of ddr5 Ram. Great 1080p combo. I've been planning to upgrade to a 4070 ti super in the next few months, but I want to see what the 5070 or 5080 is like before pulling the trigger. Keep in mind that the laptop 4090 is more like an RTX 4080-performance wise. @jdxcoffee is new to all this and wouldn't want to confuse him.
I said in a reply to another comment here that I've been a PC gamer since 1997, and have always experienced the highest possible fidelity of gaming besides all of the consoles in that time... However, I was never a graphics whore until Cyberpunk 2077 came along with that ray-tracing implementation. Even now, four years on, it never fails to completely blow my balls off every time I turn it on. Most of the time I end up squatting around, inspecting real-time neon-soaked puddles and window reflections. It's utterly astonishing. I was super-lucky to end up with a 3080FE just a week before the game launched (here in the Netherlands, where they outright stopped selling them because of the demand/supply) but now I'm looking forward to next year's 5090 build so that I can hopefully experience path-tracing at a fully playable level and takes things up a considerable notch.
Don't take the PCMR too seriously it's Just a joke that came from the Witcher. It's been fun seeing this journey of yours. It doesn't matter the rig you Have PC is about freedom. Had We'll come to the club seeing path tracing is something unreal play cyberpunk 2077 and Portal RTX
If you think Black Myth Wukong is nice on PC, wait till you play it on an OLED monitor at 165hz. edit: Just watched your previous video, so I know you have an OLED display now. Congrats on making the switch to PC, I'm sure you'll enjoy having the choice of PC and console gaming going forward. There's just so many cool PC games that are not on console (usually because they didn't work out how to make the game work on a controller or the studio was a PC only developer). Next thing you could try (though not for a good while after spending all that money on a PC) is PCVR.
Start wishlisting you favorite games and wait for chrismas sales. Then you will see the savings and backlog pile up. And also, there is a place that may be a big nono for some. Emulation , if you have the original media, is something to look into too. You can play old games in higher resolutions and higher framerates. It's a little tricky to configure but with your current enthusiasm i think you will manage.
for me the switch came with the consoles starting to rack up in online subscription prices and a closed ecosystem. I don't want to plug an older gen console to play older games in the future and I want free online and different storefronts I can purchase my games in. the versatility of settings let me play and tweak my experience for my specific needs. im rocking a 4070s atm and I think I will be good for a while, my libraries will be right there wherever I play and with side companions such as the rog ally x or steam deck it just feels amazing to grab my handheld and play natively on the go. people say PC Is so inconvenient but I disagree. PC has given me all the freedom I need as a gamer/consumer.
The PS5 Pro is promising to be less than what they originally said the base PS5 could do Still saving for my PC and am super jealous of yours! I actually feel like I don't have enough money to support a console gaming hobby. I can't wait to get my PC so everything will be cheaper to maintain!
So I was a PC gamer back in the early 2000s but it was poor experience, so I went back to console as it was simple. I would say recently the steam deck and PS5 was a reintroduction to the PC marketplace because I had so many already great games. When I decide to upgrade fully to a PC or back to a gaming laptop. I'll have a complete experience. Emulation, Mods, and console gaming doesn't come close of giving players the access they actually care about. For every generation, you had to buy a newer version of the game to get the best possible results. With PC, it's buy once, and that is it.
This is ironic, I just switched to PC myself. As a life long console player at 40 years old. I'm rocking a Ryzen 7 5800x and a 3080ti and I'm blown away as well.
Same I have RYZEN7 7800x3d 4060ti and I came from PS5. Absolutely love it!
that was the main reason why i switched over to pc, the frame rate and graphics. love seeing someone experience pc gaming for the first time like you did. welcome to the world of pc gaming! have fun!
PC is basically the ultimate gaming platform basically.
I built my first PC earlier this year after console gaming since 1990! I totally agree with everything you said! Congrats Bro!!!
Welcome to the club man! I like your energy and am excited to see future posts about your experience so I'm subbing.
You can do that on consoles, too.
@@christownsend552 You don’t have much flexibility... you’re restricted to what the developers choose and whatever the console manufacturer permits.
@@DreamyAbaddon you didn't say that, though. You implied you can't do it on console at all.
If you really wanna get your mind blown, give Cyberpunk 2077 in Ray Tracing overdrive with Path Tracing on a go, that's the true next gen experience.
Wait till this dude finds out about mods lol
I have been in all the ps5 pro comments about modded Cyberpunk. It’s next level.
Gaming is for everyone and for everyone to enjoy how they like!!
like some people hate vr or get really sick because of it. i love it and i have only played one game that made me sick.... borderlands 2 vr.
It really is a cool thing to do. I really love the synchronicity
Congrats on the transition bro! I myself just jumped back to PC gaming after nearly 15 years of strictly console gaming (I fell out of PC gaming when I stopped playing MMOs). I’m happy to be back. Felt like finally going home ❤
P.S.
You should try playing on 1440p Ultrawide monitors if you have the chance. I actually find it more immersive than just standard 16:9 4K. You also get to push more frames because it’s not as taxing as 4K
welcome to the pc gaming world, you're gonna love what you can do with that beefy of a spec
I already am
It's nice to see you enjoying it. I got an oled steam deck a few months back. Have a ps5. Man, am I looking forward to getting a gaming pc. Steam library on deck and pc. Looking forward to seeing your journey man 👍
it's WILD
It’s intriguing to see your journey over different platforms as someone just kinda playing on everything.
I have a 4070 desktop, steam deck, ps5, and switch oled. I’m not going to pretend I play them all equally, I have phases, but I’m happy with them all.
I love the story arc of how you've come full circle to PC 😄 welcome!
I don't know if MnK will ever by my main thing but I really am enjoying these games the way they look
I have both PC and consoles, but I prefer gyro aim.
This is my chart:
1) gyro aim
2) mouse and keyboard
3) comtroller
This is why we try to convert yall, it's just a better experience. And a better value proposition.
@@HadouGun converting people, it's an art I suppose.
It's not. PC gaming has a lot of advantages but there are some big disadvantages that some people just can't be bothered to deal with.
@@Tougebeat what are those? You can even turn a PC into a gaming console experience with Steam OS
@ it’s not the same. It’s not as seamless as a console
don't be afraid to turn down some settings in games and cap frame rates. you can get a more consistent frame rates, save electricity, and your pc will generate less heat / noise. often times there is also a point where cranking a setting any higher hits diminishing returns and uses way more system resources. there are a bunch of channels that cover things like this for each game
Sidenote:
Agree with not loving the term "masterrace".
Even tho PC is obvi better ;)
sidenote sidenote; (updating these as i watch lol)
eventually, i garuntee you'll want to try your hand at building your own pc or upgrading the pc. and kids love hands-on learning. its an experience you can share w/ your kids eventually.
Yea I am sure that will happen at some point but for now this is insane
Built my first rig in 2015, can't say I feel the same.
Maybe for you it faded.
But it sure as heck hasn't for me.
Oh buddy! Has a similar reaction when I bought my pc. Enjoy the ride homie. 💥 ✌️
its really remarkable
Welcome! You’re gonna love it!
I actually got a gaming desktop around when Sony hiked ps plus. I still use my ps5 but no longer need to pay any online services
Me too. August 2015
Not always there was a time when new console gens rivaled or beat what was top gpus at the time. But that's not happening again.

@@smokegames1179 So true. I feel like PCs last longer than consoles too. It's really nice to be able to upgrade whenever you want. It's totally your choice when you want to upgrade and how much you want to spend for it.
@@mrbdb5670That's sick! I only have my desktop and a SteamDeck. Both used for modern games and retro games too. Love them so much! ❤
Display port plus a nice OLED monitor is a game changer.
I am hoping to land some cool displays to showcase
HDMI 2.1 is good enough for 4k@120hz. You need DP to get beyond that, but I'd say 4k120 is good enough for the rest of this generation, at least.
Stop stealing games
@@Tryhardfann no, a rx6800 which is 20% faster than a ps5pro is $300😂 and a 3700x is $50-80
a PC can be more expensive, but its value is higher than a console. even a $2,000 PC has higher value than a ps5 at $500. can ps5 do native 1440p? no. high fps? no. if it can't do these important things, how it has the same value as a PC that can? a $900ish PC with rx 7800xt can do native 1440p/60 fps, and you use upscaler for higher fps. it's worth every $$$ you spent.
For me streaming is really what’s paying for this.
You can run a buisiness of almost any pc. It doesnt even need a gpu.

As an ages old gamer who built his first PC back in the PS2 era, let me assure you, that you can easily build (or buy) a very capable,
easily upgraded gaming PC, for less than you'd pay for a modern console.
Nah for me I don’t care if the word native is there. I just want smooth gaming and stunning experiences.
@@jdxcoffee Then you will not need to upgrade your PC for at least a decade as that guy just said. 😀
Detroit Become Human, Gotham Knights & Helldivers 2 all three look & run great on PC

Problem with PC’s is their practicality. To chill on the couch on you TV, they just don’t compete with the ease of console.

Welcome to the real world of PC.
It's fun when its results working correctly
And I just replaced said GPU with 3060 12GB, paid only 200e for one.
one word "MODS" takes pc gaming to another level dont forget you can use both ps 5 controller and x box man the pros are just endless
@shimik11 He's a software engineer, think about what you're saying and who you're saying it to lol

You should try those PlayStation exclusives that are on PC especially Ratchet & Clank with Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered ! 💪🏿

"Nintendo fanboy discovers PC gaming"🤣
kind of yea!!
Had
We'll come to the club seeing path tracing is something unreal play cyberpunk 2077 and Portal RTX
Time to extend to another level of dad games! Euro Truck Simulator with a direct drive wheel!
Using a i7 12700 and 4070 super way way better than consoles. You can do video edit, 3d rendering, crypto mining, emulators
Backlog has been renamed. We call it the library.
for me the switch came with the consoles starting to rack up in online subscription prices and a closed ecosystem.
The PS5 Pro is promising to be less than what they originally said the base PS5 could do
Still saving for my PC and am super jealous of yours!
It seems like the steam deck really was the gateway drug.
interesting video! just a reminder to turn autofocus off on your camera as the focus hunting was hurting my eyes :D
So now there is this things, its a rabbit hole called Mini - ITX ...
