If I was a Social worker and I walked into a house where kids had no clothes, furniture, and were having road kill and salad picked off the side of a road, I’d take those kids in a Heart beat. It’s no cheap, it’s abuse.

The thing is they are being fed and are clean So technically it’s not abuse. You can’t take someone’s kids just because they are extremely cheap. There has to be actual abuse like not feeding them or neglect, but they are fed and they seemed like they were doing activities together. Once the kids grow up however I hope they run away from that life style.

The concept of eating grass / leaves isn't so bad. Things like lettuce and spinach is just plants from some land we don't see, rather than plants from your own garden or bush near you. It also encourages creativity and innovation as you most of the time will think of things to add to it, like what seasoning or sauce.
I've never done it, but if I was ever in a dire situation, I would but only after boiling it in water, or roasting over a flame. Money has no value unless spent, so I understand the grass gathering, but it's not like market plants cost 500 dollars per leaf of something.

Sure, depends on the item and your job pay, but lots of this seems more like a lifestyle/pride thing than really about saving money.
