Rūta is name of chocolate factory located in my hometown (called by lithuanian womans name). And honey naturally crystalize and a lot of people buying honey from local farmers and it becomes crystalised after few month. I really liked this video! Also, if you want to try lithuanian food - you should try šaltibarščiai (cold beetroot soup, it becomes pink)

@@jeffbeach8354 No, anisseed they would have smelled. Think of Ouzo or Raki or such spirits, it is a very very distinct smell. Fennel is another one that is very distinct, although to me a lot lighter. When it comes to the taste it feels more fresh than anis. But by looks, and from what would be a typical spice for bread, caraway is as typical as it can get.

Lithuanian soldier here, everyone hates the green ones. The glob that’s meant to be the main meal all tastes the same (there are 10 variants) and the additions are meh. Keep in mind it is all produced locally. We are using a new variant now though, most products made in UK. It is much better, everything tastes higher quality and fills you up more.

@@LordKosmos Honestly if shipping costs weren’t that bad I most likely could. I have plenty of them after a recent FTX. I don’t know if it is based on UK MREs though, to me it seems like a money laundering scheme since they are much more expensive. Think about it, shipping from UK, more expensive ingredients, everything costs much more when they could have done local produce again, just higher quality and more variety.

By the way, groats is not exactly like grits, although it about the same direction. It is whole grain cereals like oat, wheat, rye, barley or buckwheat. You may often find it cut roughly, which in German would be "Schrot" as used in the whole grain bread. In eastern Europe you might often find some porridge like meal called kasha. In the UK you may find it in black pudding.
You may know the variant made from durum wheat in arabic countries, known as bulgur.

Looks more like caraway than fennel to me, very common in Northern/European bread, practically required for any rye bread because digestion. Using it with wheat is not as ubiquitous but definitely not unheard of. Using the complete bread spice mix thing for non-rye breads is much less common (that'd be caraway, fennel, anise, coriander, all as seeds, in various ratios). Sesame and poppy seed are also common erm baked-in toppings, across the Mediterranean you'll see them use black caraway (nigella sativa) quite a lot.

The flameles heater is for the food packet, the flame ones is for coffee and whatever you decide to put in your military metal cup that you put on the stove, its a military ration that goes with other standard gear.
Edit 1. Guys come on, follow instructions, there is tape to close the flameles heater on the damn bag and it did say you are supposed to put the food on top of the heating element.
Edit 2. the porridge and meat are separated, so you either mix it or put it on a tray and eat separately, how can you guys not follow any instructions? My god i would hate to be your SGT.

I think those biscuits are like hardtack, best to be soaked in the coffee to soften them up.

just imagine,if you take simple biscuits into your bag,and not on your car backseat, but in army bag,its MRE.how looks simple biscuits after few hours of running or tacting in forest? :))))))))))))))) thats why pancercakes are so hard :))real fight or war is not military camps with refrigerators full of ice cream :))))))))))))))))))))))) and it makes me funny-natural hazelnuts not enough natural??? nutella generation ..and real natural honey looks strange for them???when eating "healthly" hamburgers, nutellas, chips,of course natural food looks strange :)))
