    One of my favorite moments of the series was Ericsson completely rag-dolling Perry.

    This is the series I think is the reason the Wings didn't have much left in the tank for the Finals, of course Datsyuk being out until game 5 didn't help either, but still.

      datsyuk was out because of the blackhawks. i wish the ducks got to beat up the hawks. i actually liked this ducks team and would have liked them to beat chicago

      Between the refs in this series and the finals, wings were playing 5v9. Shitman did not want the wings to have a 2nd back to back in 2 decades

    I miss Red Wings playoff hockey with this atmosphere. It seems like forever since the Joe has had this much electricity, besides a few random games against the Sharks and the Chicago series in 2013

    As a ducks fan the downside of wings switching to the east is the ducks and wings don’t get to meet in the playoffs. Ever since the 03’ ducks sweep I feel like ducks wings were one of the top rivalries in the nhl, so many great series between them. Hard fought long series.

    • @pianotalent6437
      @pianotalent6437 2 года назад

      Agreed. Those were some of the best series of the 2000s. When y’all swept us in 2003, I’ll just admit it, I learned to never underestimate the ducks or any team for that matter. Our rivalry with you guys was underrated. Those games were so intense

    I'm 36 years old and through all my years I don't think I've ever seen a better slap shot then Nicholas lidstrom that when he was to give it a good slap shot he can make it go wherever he desired it to go and the best thing is he always thinks that there's someone out there that is better than him he never thinks that he is the greatest and that's what makes him the best out of all the red wings players I would say Steve eiserman is my first best player in my time and Nicholas Lindstrom is my second best player. And there's one thing I always wanted to ask, with Brett Hull coming from the St Louis blues to the red wings for one year or two years and winning the Stanley cup and then going back to the St Louis blues and retiring there knowing the rivalry that the blues and red wings had, it would be like Steve iserman leaving the red wings and going to the Colorado avalanche for 2 years and coming back to the red wings I just don't see the same respect as there would be if he would spend his whole entire career with the red wings I just don't understand why players do that but maybe I'm the only one that feels that way. If there's anybody that agrees with me write it in the comments thank you and one more thing go red wings. And it's just a matter of time before those red wings turn their shit around and become a contender again because I can't wait for that to come back. To me it's like sex you just can't get enough

    awood i hope u know how much we appreciate it! You're so good at what u do man. Your videos are treasures and i plan to watch them for years and years all because of your tireless and magnificent curating. Brilliant series. Ducks had a lot of pride with a true alpha leadership group. But despite pretty substantial adversity in the series, Detroit were better and both teams knew it. Datsyuk absolutely unplayable in the 2nd period of Game 5 is my highlight. Game 5 was proof that Detroit had a gear that Anaheim couldn't match. Cuthbert commentary during that game only makes it sweeter. One of the best hockey commentators of all time. And when he makes that connection between Datsyuk and Gretzky when he lifted the puck over the back of the net, the weight of that comment shouldn't be lost on anybody. Datsyuk at his peak in the playoffs guys. We are really talking about one of the best to ever play hockey. That is the level we are talking about. And the Joe knew it in that moment and gave a standing ovation, and for moment there Detroit was at the centre of the sporting universe. Profound stuff.

    Absolutely grueling series. After the Wings and Mighty Ducks swept each other a few times pre-lockout, they had several hard-fought, really physical wars. This series, '07, '13. I remember when the Wings were first switching to the East, a blogger made a case that this was one of the best then-current rivalries in the NHL (better than either club's more traditional rivals at the time), and seeing it summed up opened my eyes to that.

    I'd agree with those saying this series ended up leaving the Wings running on fumes by the time of the finals with injuries etc, but it sure was sweet to beat this lot in seven, say what you want about Chicago and Nashville, but there's just something so hateful about the Ducks, it may well just be Corey Perry's very existence, but christ i was even rooting for the Blackhawks this year against them, also Kronners hits are a thing of beauty.

    I’ve always believed this series is the reason the wings did not win back to back cups. It took a lot out of them and by the time they got to the finals they ran out of gas. The duck were goons man.
    Damn west coast games traveling back and forth while the pens were taking short bus rides.

    I remember game 3 like it was yesterday I was flipping the fuck out when they called that off. And franzen in these games just looked on point. I wish he could play like this these days. If u watch him in this series he was just overall solid as hell! As much as he annoys me I hope this upcoming season he can stay healthy and help the wings out. The wings will be deadly if he's healthy.

    Who thinks Chris Osgood did better in the 09 playoffs than the 08 playoffs I mean it just me be my opinion but they did play quite a bit of a lot more games in 09 than they did in 08 and not to mention Chris Osgood was replaced in the first series against the Nashville predators in 08 so yeah I think I can argue that he did for one play more games and two play a lot better in 09. If I'm wrong please tell me your opinion thank you

    Forgot how one-sided the officiating was in this series. Never should have gone seven games but officials made sure the Anaheim Meatheads had a chance against Detroit. Detroit powerplay would have ended this series in five.

      Getzlav was a son of a bitch, but I still respected him. He just played his last NHL game shortly as of the time I’m typing this, and he went out in style with one of the slickest passes I’ve ever seen from him in recent memory. Kudos to a frustrating player to play against, but one you love if he’s on your team.
