    I just discovered your chanel today and I think is the best chanel about vintage jewelry. You are very knowledgeable, you have a tone of books and an amazing collection of best and most beautiful costume jewelry. I start collecting costume jewelry as a therapy, not knowing anything about costume jewelry, and buying as many I could just to learn about makers and read as much information online i could find about them . I used to go every estate sale, triftstore, antique for few years. I have enough pieces to keep me busy reasearch them( i am still working full time) in my spare time and once in a while go for hunting. Thank you for your work and for sharing your beautiful collection with us.

      Thank you for watching. My advice is to keep learning and collecting. This is a great post-retirement hobby. It is exactly what I did!
      It pays for itself and you get to do the things you want to anyway., buy more jewelry, study, and attend shows. I am in England as we speak!

    I'm a man that Loves costume jewelry! I found two pairs of ciner clip on earrings my mother was parting with. Found it odd, an earring has a pat 156452 inside on clasps, logo name outside on clasp. OMG! Pat's glass pearl double broach is beautiful. To see Mrs Pat's jewelry what she parted with or donated, what was given away is intriguing. It's almost the costume jewelry version of Elizabeth Taylor. Reading everything on her right now..😍thk you!😘💕

      The patent number is for the clip mechanism, not the design of the earrings. Pat's necklace is my favorite thing in my collection! I loved your comments, thank you! Today, I am working on a new video on Dior and Grosse jewelry. Make sure you follow me so you can see when it posts.

    What a wonderful video. I picked up numerous Ciner pieces in the late-1980s-early-1990s in New York at Sak's Fifth Avenue. The craftsmanship is beautiful. Since then I have collected other pieces and purchased a few as gifts. I also believe it's an undervalued jewelry brand.

    I have been curios about Ciner. I am wondering if the cross hatch on the back is a key feature. Watching what you have to say now. 👍

      I am not sure what you mean by cross hatch. All Ciner is signed so it takes the guessing out of it!

    Brava! Excellent video, for so many reasons-the main one, as is always the case with you, is content. In particular the information you curate and impart…a tall order to meet. So, Ciner: Completely new to me-I’m a relative newcomer to fine costume jewelry (aka: Pandora’s Box). The history and craftsmanship of their work, really resonates with me. No matter the quality, I’m a sucker for enamel work of any kind. But that enamel work took my breath away. Truly exquisite.

    Oh - but re: the unsigned Ciner - I just happened across this on Worthpoint
    “REPRODUCTIONS
    Many unmarked copies of Ciner’s most popular styles have been made, especially during the 1980s. These knockoffs include designs similar to their hinged animal bracelets and Moghul-type pieces like earrings and brooches. These copycat pieces were produced in varying quality levels and can usually be distinguished as such when examined side by side with marked Ciner. Look for sloppy enameling, lack of attention to detail, and haphazard stone setting. Most jewelry leaving the Ciner factory was marked, and still is, so unsigned pieces in similar styles are likely period copies or even newer reproductions.”

      @chapelhillvintagejewels  10 месяцев назад

      Thank you for your kind words and the excellent reference regarding fake Ciner jewelry. This is a problem we all need to be aware of with any of the really coveted designers. Buyer, always beware. If you are going to collect something get very familiar with the jewelry so you have a frame of reference when you come across a fake.

    Thank you for making this video. I found a beautiful necklace with knotted glass pearls and an enameled cat clasp. They said that the plate that said Ciner had broken off, is that possible? 🕊️

    • @chapelhillvintagejewels
      @chapelhillvintagejewels  9 месяцев назад

      Sorry to say, I highly doubt it. Ciner is most often stamped right into the gold-plate. Not something that would "fall off".

    I have a broken Carol Dauplaise earring. The metal ring connecting two pieces of this particular design broke. Can metal used in costume jewelry be fixed? They are my favorite and I’m sad I can’t wear them.

    • @CHVintageJewels

      Depends on the metal but may be able to be resoldered. I don't know how to do that.

      I address this in the video. 2nd thing to know about Ciner...Since the company used some of the same marks during different time periods, it is almost impossible to use them for dating purposes.
