That's a good selection of cars James, I love the Ibiza as these are very overlooked by those who end up with a Polo, Corsa or Fiesta. Vivas are decent enough too, not groundbreaking but a good and cheap to run commuter. I work for a Vauxhall dealer and we have little issues with them. That colour is 176, Sovereign Silver.
Funny things is they sit behind the Chevy Spark and Nissan Micra with me for Warranty claims, the emission sensors are to sensitive and the clutches go at about 80 and are twice the price on the 1.3 as other cars
Hi James iam a long time subscriber and follow your videos, they are very influential. Can you give us a video explaining more how to register with BCA, Manheim and how to best source cars.
Wow a veritable torrent. I know a lot of dealerships have a January sale so maybe there is less bidding for new stock and more trying to clear the existing. Not a problem you luckily have and it may have meant less competition. A good range there too. Looking forward to seeing how they fare
Just sold a viva, good little cars but the clutches go every year. Only cheap to replace luckily. Probably sell quick. So when you recruiting an apprentice 😉
Cant wait to see these in the new showroom, if you dont sell them before you get chance to put them all in there, would make a good photo/advertisement of them all lined up with sale boards on them inside there
I haven't seen many vivas around so getting a bumper might be an issue. If you can repair it with no issues happy days. You are right about cheap cars selling easily . The majority of working people are on low wages doing care jobs etc so can't afford £10 k cars .
well stock issues comprehensively addressed in one go there - sorted ! The Viva was a GM car - as was Chevy - the Viva was the upgraded renewed Spark - came here as the Viva coz GM wanted am presence in the mini-car market and had withdrawn Chevy from the UK market so should be as bullet proof as a Spark.

The spark is a revamped version of the old Matiz as James mentioned in the video. I'd say they "compete" with Fiestas and Corsas whereas the Aveo is more the size of an Astra, Punto Grande etc

Do you find that the cars are generally accurately described in the listing? If you buy from US auto auctions its a massive gamble that the car will even run or be fixable honestly, I don't buy from the auctions here anymore, they have a habit of lying and there's too many scams but these look pretty accurate to the description. @@5tevenH Auctions tend to be exempt, except if online only, as you are expected to have seen and examined to your satisfaction for what you have bid. Thanks for the info!
Brilliant video James - really pleased that you have won a whole load of cars, it’s certainly going to make some excellent channel content.
All power to your elbow!!! It’s going to be another very interesting few weeks!! 👍👏✊🚙🚘🚗
Thanks Trevor
That's a good selection of cars James, I love the Ibiza as these are very overlooked by those who end up with a Polo, Corsa or Fiesta.
Vivas are decent enough too, not groundbreaking but a good and cheap to run commuter.
I work for a Vauxhall dealer and we have little issues with them. That colour is 176, Sovereign Silver.
Oh cheers bud that helps me finding the code
Only car I'd go pale on is the Fabia, auxillary belt and new chain like previous one James?! Doubt you'd have another if needs. Love the Yaris.
Yes quite possibly bud
2nd car I sold in the 80s was a k (72) viva, bought for a onner (£14 indemnity) got 270 for it off my parents drive, good wage in those days.
Stand out bargain for me is the Yaris, but i am an engineer not a trader. i just love the build quality of toyotas.
No connection between the Vauxhall Viva and the Hyundai, but it is related to the Chevrolet Spark. (See also Opel Karl)
Wow a veritable torrent. I know a lot of dealerships have a January sale so maybe there is less bidding for new stock and more trying to clear the existing. Not a problem you luckily have and it may have meant less competition. A good range there too. Looking forward to seeing how they fare
I thought the same Alan, I would not have won any of these at this price last month
Just sold a viva, good little cars but the clutches go every year. Only cheap to replace luckily. Probably sell quick. So when you recruiting an apprentice 😉
lol , Scotty every now and then will do me
Cant wait to see these in the new showroom, if you dont sell them before you get chance to put them all in there, would make a good photo/advertisement of them all lined up with sale boards on them inside there
I haven't seen many vivas around so getting a bumper might be an issue. If you can repair it with no issues happy days. You are right about cheap cars selling easily . The majority of working people are on low wages doing care jobs etc so can't afford £10 k cars .
Agreed
Good on you James you’re perfectly correct its a numbers game. Every car has problems. Tthere are some harbingers of doom out there.
well stock issues comprehensively addressed in one go there - sorted ! The Viva was a GM car - as was Chevy - the Viva was the upgraded renewed Spark - came here as the Viva coz GM wanted am presence in the mini-car market and had withdrawn Chevy from the UK market so should be as bullet proof as a Spark.
Cheers Darren
Your channel has made me realise ,tbh I had a fair idea anyway, just how little (decent/honest) car dealers actually make on each car,it's not the get rich quick profession most people think it is ,keep up the excellent work James
Well my job is done lol!! Thanks, I think people don't realise how little a dealer makes per car if they are going to receive the preparation and aftercare they want on these older cars
Busy January ahead on the preparation front. Pretty decent mix. Cheap quick flips to to pay the bills and a few bigger profit cars to fund your lifestyle!
lol, yes I guess so
My spark was looking good but then it developed a miss on road test, probably a coil pack, I got my 13 plate before prices went up at 750 bid mate, about a year ago(!)
Yes they used to be super cheap, I've not, touch wood, had a claim on one yet
@@ChopsGarage yes, they seem OK mate.
Brilliant! Re stocked and ready to go! Looking forward to all the follow up videos.
Thank you
'Lovely Jubbly' James....cant wait to see you get cracking and sell some of those on...Fingers crossed they'll work out for you.
Me too bud
The Kia is coming from Bedford (Thurliegh) I work for BCA as a contractor and I'm interested to see how you get on buying through auction
Yes should not have bid that far away really
@@ChopsGarage I deliver used Volvos to our Thurliegh branch that then go out to dealers or auction. I usually do demo cars for customers through leasing companies or corporate placings... I love my job.
I would be interested to see you get the 61 reg- 17 reg shape of Kia Rio into stock, I know you've had some older shape Rio's in the past and done OK out of them. I'm on my 2nd Rio now, first one was a 12 reg and now I have a 66 reg both with the 1.25 petrol ⛽ engines, no work needed on either other than consumables. Excellent cars. I suppose it's a matter of time before you get one of these through the garage shutters.
Kia stuff as a rule is really good, I think it helps they normally have good owners
Viva is not bottom spec one think you’ll sell it quick at 6700 - 7000k should do a couple more of you find one, take bumper off and restore it - it’s a newish car so silver match might be ok
Cheers Jason
My late brother-in-law had one of those Kia Ceed’s and did over 150000 miles in it and it was bulletproof.
They only sold it when he passed. And that’s a better colour.
Oh and the Vauxhall Viva is based on the Chevrolet Spark. So two Sparks in one day!
Yes I like the blue Mark
1:07 but the mileage isn’t warranted - is that not a concern?
The Viva is a rebadged Chevy Spark. You shouldn't have many issues with it.
Amazing how it's held its value much more than an equivalent Chevy Spark!
Seats suffer from badge snobbery. I got recovered in a brand new transit by the rac. Guy told me had never lifted a seat but lifts audis all day every day. Those seats are the same older tried and tested technology. Vauxhalls have ended up with a terrible used reputation. Again there are good ones and bad ones. Forget the badge.
Just reading the rest of the comments. Think i was to late watching. Good to see you concentrating on the cars that work for you. Could you not get local council funding for an apprentice? I don't mean a car mechanic but as an honest car trader.
Some nice stock there, wouldn't say you've overpaid on any, but someones going to be a busy 🐝 in January.
I think you could do with some sort of worksheet for each on a clipboard so you know where you are up to and what you are waiting on, as get this right and Mrs Chops could be in for a very nice valentines present 😂
Oh have that bud, trust me I count every penny and plan everything to get it done asap!
James, my wife had a Deawoo Matiz and a Chevrolet Spark, both were awesome cars. Highly recommend a Spark especially if you opt for the higher specs.
I find them great too
Very unpopular with the badge snobbery hence the low prices, who cares though when it's a good reliable affordable car!
Never understood why they brought the viva name back on a hatchback, I remember Vivas being saloons or estates surly they would have been better calling them a Nova if they wanted to bring a name back
All the best hope all goes well for 2022
I'm a bit confused by the Viva. I thought you said it was a 2017, but doesnt the BCA report shows it as a 64 plate? Maybe just my screen isn't very big?
Not sure what you are seeing its 2017
What auction would you advise as a start up for buying/selling cars mate?
Manhiem if you want least hassle but lowest margin
Good selection. Be interesting to see how the Kia goes and what trade-ins you get on this lot, if any. I think you need some help with cosmetic vehicle prep or you may end up with cash tied up in stock not ready for sale. The Spark reminded me of the Aveo - are they too old for you?
Bid on a few in my time buddy
The spark is a revamped version of the old Matiz as James mentioned in the video.
I'd say they "compete" with Fiestas and Corsas whereas the Aveo is more the size of an Astra, Punto Grande etc
Hi James congratulations on reaching 25,000 subscribers finally and well done for all your hard work once again
Lets hope the yaris is japanese and not french. When you get the yaris leave it overnight then take it out for a test drive when it's cold to see if the gearbox is crunching.
When I think of the Viva, I think of the rebadged Daewoo Lacetti that Holden sold in Australia for a few years. That Vauxhall Viva looks much better!
Looking forward to seeing how these cars go for you.
How exciting... looking forward to getting the run down on them all..
1.6 Diesel Kia will run forever mate. Trim will fall off regularly but those engines are pretty much bulletproof.
Evening
Some good buys there
Will be interesting to see if the viva takes longer to sell than the 3k & under cars do
Yes prehaps we have a poll on first to sell
@@ChopsGarage First to sell, or the one/s to sell quickest from putting up to banking the cash ? IF the buyers are out there I cannot see any taking much past a week, if the expensive one doesnt sell its a good dealer trade away and just take £500 profit rather than a bag of sand.
did you see that red i 10 on there yesterday suppodly sold for £1100 its in sunday auction now a case of pumping up the bidding gone wrong ????
Yes playing silly beggars arent they
I Got all excited for a Few Seconds there.
"James has Bought a Vauxhall Viva. I wonder if it's a Viva HB..!?"
But No, they have just Revived the Name 😕😔😕
Thought for a Second you had bought an Oldie to Do up.
The 'Viva HB' was my First Car in Uk. Which I paid £325 for in about 1973/74..!!
And with help from Dad learned how to Maintain a Car. Hence my slightly Stupid Thought, but it will be interesting to see a Modern Version.
I had mine for about 3 years until on a Very Cold winters Day. I planted her into a Ditch and Tree..!! More Sadface Emoji 😩😠😩
As for Negative comments there is Always someone out there that, Could Do Better in Terms of Buying.
Your Doing it and Earning a Small Crust on most of the Cars. "Ignore the Twats."
Cheers James.
P.s. I have been in Oz since 1980, so had no idea about the Revival of the Viva..!! Some Defence for being an Idiot..! Maybe..! 😎
I have a Kia ceed SW with 225,000 miles same engine, box and turbo 100,000 just ran in and Kia ceed spec are 1,2and 3 however A spec 4 is very limited top spec 👍
Viva looks good deffo the kind of thing you can retail with that nice fancy showroom
So much for your own projects over the dark depths of winter, but when you're self employed you need to ride it when the surf comes.
Top job,the ppl that are saying ur over paying havant realised how much prices have gone up since covid secondhand car market is really strong at the mo
They always go quiet when I ask them to supply me cars at the prices they quote bud lol!!
The vauxhall viva is a badge engineered suzuki celero..
All suzuki mechanically.
It isn't it's the Daewoo Matiz / Cheverolet Spark
@@jontallon73 incorrect im afraid..
Mate you're wrong, nothing to do with Suzuki. Don't believe everyone here, Google is your friend 🤦
Must be having a weird moment guys i stand corrected! I could of swore it was a suzuki cast off like the agila was!!
The Celerio is Turkish..the Viva Korean perhaps.
Well James even if you have paid over the odds but you don't have much choice at bca I buy 5 to 6 a week from bca perry and Iv not had a bargain for ages but still make a profit on them even if its is only 500 or 600 pounds warranty wise 30 days I give. I think you should only give 30 days as well
Yes I think on these oldies I will
Good video m8 "Didn't you do well" I think you did ignore the dreamers who say shoulv'e paid less theyr'e all rubbish you are showing us all how it should be done cant wait to see them all. good luck !!
Cheers Dave
Interested to see what the viva sells for
kia cee'd are pretty rare, think you'd get alot of people after that as basically its either a skoda fabia estate or one of them
It's basically a Hyundai i30 estate, pretty bulletproof apart from clutch/hydraulic issues on the diesels. But that's not too bad for an older diesel.
DPF/DMF/Injector/Turbo issues less common on the 1.6 crdi compares to various French or German alternatives 👍
Do you find that the cars are generally accurately described in the listing? If you buy from US auto auctions its a massive gamble that the car will even run or be fixable honestly, I don't buy from the auctions here anymore, they have a habit of lying and there's too many scams but these look pretty accurate to the description. The prices seem fairly reasonable for what they are
We have laws here to stop the lies
Well they don't lie, they simply sell alot giving no description of feedback on the mechanicals so they have not lied but leave it to you to find out lol
@@5tevenH Auctions tend to be exempt, except if online only, as you are expected to have seen and examined to your satisfaction for what you have bid. It does seem more modern cars dont have the rust crumble tendency, and the mechanical weak spots tend to be known by the buyers whom pay accordingly. Most BCA come in from BCAs own buying rather than third parties - except the insurance, vatman debt ones / snatchbacks .
Great video mate, you'll be in big money when you get them all done, I only got a micra this week, but I'm trying to get stuck in to my long stayers, just pulling a freelander that needs a door out that I've had since spring, hopefully a good price now it's snowing. I think your bids were OK by the way mate.
Cheers buddy, good to have someone sensible reassure me they were ok. Kia was not good did not realise that a non cat one is only 3.5k and Im in 2k but the time delivered. But as its an old 100k car Im not going knock anything off and sell it for 3k Cat N or not
@@ChopsGarage OK bud, I'd definitely get a compressor now you've got loads of paint to do, get into using 2k primer filler from the gun, it's so thick and really helps prep, paint with your mask on near the door and you'll be OK.
@@ChopsGarage aim for 200 cars this year bud, 3 to 4 a week, with good profit you'll finish the year in big money.
Great selection there. Looking forward to seeing these.
Cheers Mark
The Kia Ceed is basically a Hyundai i30 so should be a safe bet. Only thing the diesels really suffer from is weak clutches and slave cylinders but that's not too bad for an older diesel when compared to all the DPF/DMF/Injector/Turbo issues the French and German diesels tend to have!
Mate what a selection of cars!!!!! I’ve been struggling to but at the moment but this fills me with loads of confidence. Buzzing to see the furrier content 👍🏾
You have to be brave and put high number of bids in and hope others miss a few. Drive today said Brigwater is dead so I wonder is other dealers are sitting on stock from December
@@ChopsGarage you are right when you say you have to be brave. Sometimes I over analyse everything and then result in less bids. Sometimes I’ve brought a car and thought why did I buy this only to sell it and still make a profit
What is your website, so I can look at what you have in stock please ?
www.cgcarsales.co.uk
Hello, I occasionally wonder if I’ve missed the beginning of the videos as there is no introduction- might be worth having a short standard intro?
Anyway thank you always for the content 👍🏼
Yes been thinking of something
Vauxhall Viva is a rebadged Spark and strangely enough sold in the USA as a Chevrolet Spark. Can’t wait to see videos James
Cheers buddy
Congrats on securing some stock James, not sure why some people are being putting a negative spin on the purchase prices?? Things are absolutely insane in the used car market at the moment as you’ve stated many times and as a result retail prices are pushed up so I think you’ve done well considering. Plus I’ll add that your high level of attention to detail, customer care and car presentation is rare these days in the car trade. I’ve visited numerous car lots recently and a lot of the vehicles I’ve looked at that are up for retail are shocking I’d be embarrassed to have them on a forecourt! Look forward to the new stock arriving!
Thanks Nick!
I know the Vaux Agila was a Suzuki splash so maybe related to GM somehow 🤔
How far do you travel to buy cars, I've got a 10 plate vw polo, 1 owner,4 door in white, just under 50k on the clock, 1.4 dsg full service history
I will go anywhere but have to factor in transport so if it cost £300 to collect ill be £300 less than you may be offered elsewhere
@@ChopsGarage that makes sense, I will email you
Well done James I think you're doing really well and you make very interesting videos. I watch on tv with the Amazon Firestick so I don't get to comment as much as I'd like but all my comments would be positive and I just had to come on the PC to say thankyou very much James for all the entertaining videos. Its obvious you love the experience of having all these different cars and I love hearing about how they drive and how they differ. I always have an open mind when buying cars and rarely have I known what I'd end up with. Its all part of the fun. I've been very lucky.
Thanks buddy much appreciated!
@8:16 Yes, but it is about dealbreakers. :)
Good selection and spread of cars there, and with the market the way it is I don't think you'll have any issues settling any of them.
What is better use of his time - fixing the Volvo and therefore missing all of this new stock, or securing all of this stock and coming to to Volvo later? Just think about it business wise...
Is BCA online auction just for trade or can anyone buy from there ?
Is it worth creating a bca account to buy 1 or 2 cars at a time. Want to start buying and selling. Appreciate the advice 🙏
No not for 1 or 2 , fees will be too high and if you don't need to buy in volume not worth it. Source from classified for 1 or 2
@@ChopsGarage Thanks for the advice much appreciated
Not bad price for the Kia
Got that trade in for mine on a 2009 with 170k on the clock
Hopefully its decent
@@ChopsGarage loved mine wish I hadn’t px it
All of your choices seem pretty sensible, can't see anything here that looks outrageous reliability wise and could cause a lot of headaches but time will tell I suppose. No TSI or Ford ecoboosts or anything slightly riskier in this lot.
Exactly, chains I think is my biggest risk on these buys
Well done young man, I really hope it works out for you and you meet your expectations.
Cheers Bob
Well bought! It doesn't matter how much you pay or profit on a car, it's a lot more than having no cars in stock to sell; things will get back to normal later this year I'm sure. Keep moving forward!
Well said!
Knock knock
Who's there?
Fiesta
Fiesta who
That bloody Fiesta that's sat in the corner for 3 months being ignored, can you sort me out soon pretty please
Lol, I had to say it 😂
Is it the selling time of year ?
No not really, thats why I like to stay in the "oh damn my car just failed mot , or I smacked it, need cheap runabout" price range. Plus if I buy cheap now I have stock for the busier months ready
the viva is basically a chevy spark james.
Cheers
Oi James you've payed well over the odds there Pal, this game ain't for you.
lol! cheers! don't know how I've got by the last couple of year lol!
The Toyota Yaris Motd until October 2022 it's not a2010 it a 2009
There is someone for every car and always someone who knows where there is one cheaper lol all the best for 2022 👍
lol very true
Love this Chanel and Please make the vids longer .. can watch this channel for ages . And learning
Mat
Thanks Mat! Unfortunately YT penalises longer vid and allot of people fast forward and that drops them down the ratings
Vauxhall Viva is rebadge Chevrolet Spark, GM korea sourced.
