    The cloud that's left behind
    Oh, can penetrate your mind
But sail on, sing a song, carry on
Cause We Rock, We Rock, We Rock, We Rock
    We pray to someone
But when it's said and done
    It's really all the same
    With just a different name
    So many voices
    All giving choices
If we listen they will say
Oh, we can find the way
But we'll sail on, sing a song, carry on

      That's *Elf.*
      No O at the end.
      Former needs an R, too.
And it was Black Sabbath before it became Heaven & Hell.
Elf was The Electric Elves first, then The Elves, then Elf.
Elf was originally Ronnie Dio and The Prophets that added a keyboardist and made a name change.
"Elf was an American rock band founded in 1967 by singer and bassist Ronnie James Dio, keyboardist Doug Thaler, drummer Gary Driscoll, and guitarists Nick Pantas and David Feinstein (Dio's cousin).
The band was originally called the Electric Elves, but was shortened to the Elves in 1968 and finally Elf in 1972.
Elf disbanded in 1975 after recording three albums and after most of the lineup had been absorbed into the newly formed Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow.
The band was formed in 1967 when the members of Ronnie Dio and the Prophets transformed themselves into the Electric Elves and added a keyboard player, Doug Thaler."
      (From Wikipedia's entry on Elf.)
      For anyone who cares?
Ronnie's cousin, guitarist David Feinstein, is better known as David "Rock" Feinstein, lead singer and guitarist for hard rock/heavy metal power trio The Rods.
"The Rods are an American heavy metal band formed in 1980 by David "Rock" Feinstein (guitar, vocals), Steven Starmer (bass, vocals), and Carl Canedy (drums, vocals).
After the first two albums, Starmer was replaced by Garry Bordonaro.
Feinstein first came to mainstream attention after playing in Elf with his cousin Ronnie James Dio.
The Rods' sound differed considerably from Elf, adopting a more traditional heavy metal sound compared with the blues-rock sound that Elf preferred."
(From Wikipedia's entry on The Rods.)
      You might know their hit:
      *Let Them Eat Metal*
      Or, if you don't?

There has got to be a shitload of unreleased/unheard music by Ronnie James. How do I know, look at his interviews where he speaks of selecting which songs they wrote would be included on the album. Does that not say that there were many, at least some songs that were set aside and never played or recorded? He had to be talked into including Rainbow in the Dark on his first album over other songs. He also stated that when he reunited with Sabbath for their greatest hits lp that included 3 new songs that he told Iommi and Butler that they should write some "fresh" songs, and not use songs written at the time of Heaven and Hell and The Mob Rules that were not included on those albums. I would fucking love to hear those songs, I wish they would release them, but they are quite wealthy now and so have little incentive to release the songs. It is our loss.

@@ibleedwhiskeyplanet1544 Ronnie doesn't have left over songs. If it wasn't good enough to be on an album, why keep it? But I'd think there might be some Sabbath songs. Or maybe Dio songs he was working on at the time. If there are some, I'm sure Wendy will release them. She has released a lot of things, Ronnie wouldn't have released at all. I'm torn between respect for Ronnie's wishes or seeing unreleased material. But I think I would go with my respect for Ronnie. But she's already announced she will release anything she can find.

I can't say whether or not there are any Dio songs, but there are some songs leftover from his time with Sabbath. Iommi has no reason to release them though, so it's doubtful we'll ever hear them any time soon except on youtube.I understand having respect, but since he is gone I don't see the problem releasing his older music. Good times whe he was still around.
    Those were the days...

Rainbow, Sabbath, Dio; his voice will be studied and benefited from for decades to come. He kinda snuck up on the quiet ambivalence of our era, defying "rhyme and reason", replacing it with Rock 'n' Roll (and then some). May his talent be long remembered (after all, he is truly worthy of such an honor)....
    😎
    Sincerely,
    JustBGuz

Seeing this video on MTV as a 14 year old guitarist solidified my love for metal and guitar. I idolized Viv in this video. Powerful, majestic. This is why I never learned a useful, lucrative trade in life. I love it and hate it at the same time!
