Is GORDON RAMSAY STEAK Worth the Hype? Honest Review in Atlantic City

- Gordon Ramsay is one of the most famous chefs in the world. He has amassed several Michelin stars throughout his career, built a successful reality TV career with shows like Boiling Point, the F Word, Hell's Kitchen, and Kitchen Nightmares, and opened several successful Gordon Ramsay fast casual restaurants, such as Gordon Ramsay Burger, Gordon Ramsay Pub and Grill, Ramsay's Kitchen, and Gordon Ramsay Fish and Chips. In this video, we will review the fanciest of all these restaurants, Gordon Ramsay steak.
Gordon Ramsay's recipes are all well-known, but Gordon Ramsay's steak recipe video is one of his most viewed vids. Gordon Ramsay's career is mostly highlighted by his achievements in the haute cuisine world, as evidenced by his Michelin stars. Most notably, Gordon Ramsay's flagship restaurant Restaurant Gordon Ramsay has held three Michelin stars for over 20 years straight. While his other restaurants may have been more casual food, steak is more close to his expertise. It is a simple dish, but its taste is entirely dependent upon the details of its preparation.
Will Gordon Ramsay's steakhouse live up to the hype? Is Gordon Ramsay legit or is Gordon Ramsay overrated and just a celebrity chef coasting off his name now? Watch my video as we review his restaurant and determine if his recipes truly are as good as they are made out to be. We won't only be trying Gordon Ramsay's steak, but we will also be trying the famous Gordon Ramsay beef wellington and seeing if the Gordon Ramsay beef wellington recipe lives up to the hype.

My husband became disabled recently and lost his job. Learning how to cook by watching Gordon Ramsay has helped uplift his spirits. His birthday is coming up in the Fall and I hope to take him to the Atlantic City location. Plus, they're going to start filming the new season of Hell's Kitchen then!
Thanks for sharing this story. I hope he continues to remain in good spirits. I enjoyed both Gordon Ramsay Steak and Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill in Atlantic City. Hell's Kitchen seems well reviewed too so I'm sure it will be a great meal!
@@uaeats Thank you. :) I watch your videos every week, and enjoyed the one on Jollibee's yesterday. He's been interviewing again and has some prospects on the line. No guarantee when Mr Ramsay will be in town, but it would be the frosting on the cake for sure!
@@abefroman3466 Thank you for your kind sentiments. :)
I read these comments to my husband. He said, "thank you so much. I appreciate your kindness!"
How you guys doing? I k ow we don't know each other but it makes me feel good reading your comment. I have been disabled for about half a year now due to a knee injury. Can't work and can't do much of anything but stress about getting back to work. I'm in a union but even then I only have half a year of medical leave and the stress and depression of not doing much sucks sometimes. Glad to read a comment I can relate to and boost my spirits.
$80 for a steak and no sides. These prices are ridiculous! For that same price I can grill 4 good sized ribeyes at home. They may not be cooked by Gordon Ramsey, but he sure ain’t behind the grill there either.
You're right, it's expensive and should be $10 or even $20 cheaper, or at least come with sides. Whether or not it's Ramsay himself cooking it I would say is not as relevant. When you're a head chef you rarely cook yourself, you're more the captain of the kitchen brigade and mostly delegate and supervise.
Standard NY price.
@@jessewolf7649 Its not NY...
I’ve paid nearly $80 for steak I cooked myself.
You just have no experience with the higher quality beef.
@@DanielJohnson-ec8rk Rofl, then you got ripped off. More expensive doesn't necessarily mean better.
Your reviews are honestly not only informative but the details .....tops the whole video. Keep it up!!!
Thank you! I always try my best to make good content so I appreciate the positive feedback!
Your content is excellent!!
Keep it up
Reviews are great.... but could buy the same cuts, and cook them less than $10... love GR but never in my life
I’ve eaten at Gordon’s Steakhouse @ the Paris in Vegas… it was expensive & I thought the food was phenomenal.
I can honestly say the food I had, and the service I experienced actually does live up to the hype created around the Gordon Ramsey name.
thanks for trying this out for all your viewers!!! loved your red shirt too : )
Another great review. I really enjoy your channel. There are so many reviews out there but what really makes yours great is quite simply, you. You have a great personality & yet ensure your videos are primarily about the food. Congratulations & best of luck with the channel moving forward
Thanks for the kind words!
It looks pretty juicy! And beef wellington again, what a nice throwback! Wonderful review as usual
Nice to see you watched the first Gordon Ramsay vid I made!
Very informative. I really enjoy your reviews. I have no doubt that if you’re able to gain a audience and do this full time your content will only get better. Good luck UA!
That would be the dream! Until then, I'll keep grinding until I'm able to make the full-time leap. Thanks for the support!
UA as someone who loves food and is picky and loves to try new things I LOVE your videos! You’re so humble, like a regular person who is knowledgeable but just normal enough to be relatable. Thank you for not using words like umami and mouthfeel, and just being real 😂
Thank you! Yep I'm just a normal guy without any special training or experience. I just love eating. Glad you like the vids!
Long time lurker, as someone who follows James Makinson and a few other very notable and good food reviewers, I can say I thoroughly enjoy the detail and fairness that you give each review, it’s really good work and I hope the channel continues to grow
Are you James Mackinson? Because I see him and his bots everywhere. I used to be a fan of his channel until I found out he’s a total fraud . his channel is full of bots that hype him up just like “not another cooking show”. I went to barners tavern in UK and asked the staff there if James mackinson worked there and they had never heard of him. I showed the manager and our server James mackinson’s about me section and the staff was alarmed that he was advertising working there when they had no clue who he was. So I did a little more digging and yep.. total fraud . I stopped watching James mackinson after finding that out
Thank you for the kind words!
Yo UA, I'm glad your channel is around cus I don't like watching food shorts. I'm really diggin your style and it comes across as pretty genuine too. Keep it up bruh!
Thank you!
I love seeing UA when he enjoys the meal. And that MMM sound he does, makes me really visit all those places and try the food on my own.
Did you end up enjoying those restaurants?
UA a story for you since you seem to like Gordon Ramsey resto’s. I never have liked the guy. Seems arrogant etc. so never ate at his places bc of that. However, my friend an I , who is originally from Scotland, wanted to eat at his resto at Caesars before we went to see Adele. Surprisingly the food was really good and she is picky being from Scotland and now SF. Well, we were seated very close to Ramsey in the coliseum! My friend went over to speak to him. He was so nice and humble to fans coming up to him. He gave my friend a warm hug as she was from his home town. He didn’t turn away fans as they wanted to shake his hand and take a selfie. He thanked us for eating at his resto. So, after that I totally changed my mind about him. He is a nice guy and was pretty low key. Glad you enjoyed his food.
Yes, most of what he does on TV is an act. That doesn't change the fact that he is fleecing his customers, though.
@@mikeymutual5489 most are though. His pub and grill at .caesars is not badly priced with good food. Las Vegas is crazy expensive now and usually not very good imo.
Watch his UK stuff and you'll be absolutely insulted............by realizing how dumbed-down US television is
I’ve had lots of UA’s
Thanks for sharing this story! I've heard that he's actually very nice and approachable in real life and it's cool to hear that was your experience.
Love your reviews. Gary Eats brought me here. Greetings from 🇬🇧
Haven't seen you in a few weeks happy for this video you're the Best U A you never disappoint 👍
I am always impressed by this UA brotha.
Impressive knowledge.
Thank you!
Great review! I love how UA pronounced Harrah's. Brought a smile to my face.
Haha. I'm guessing it's supposed to be more like "hair-ah's?"
I really appreciate the honesty in your reviews and you describe everything perfectly. Excellent work!
What a delightful RUclips channel!
It truly is
Well made video. You have an authentic personable presentation style and you appear to be a genuine foodie 👍
Indeed, I love to eat!
@@uaeatsHahaha yeah. More honesty, because that's what the video showed 100% and I don't blame you when quality steak, well cooked is involved. But I'm a bit stingy, I'll get scotch fillet from Aldi and go home and season it up with sea salt and freshly cracked pepper before blasting it in a cast iron skillet heated up until it's lightly smoking. That way it's AUD $15 to 20 for 500 grams, and I'm in heaven anyway. Although I do think about doing it on a grill for something different from time to time
Greetings from Denmark. I have watched a few of Ua's videos, which have all been steak reviews in various restaurants. I am also a steak lover and am struck by how expensive the steaks have been in all of these videos. I was in Horsens Denmark last Friday, and went to the highest rated steak house (according to Trip Advisor) in that city. I ordered a 300 gram tenderloin steak with fries and a salad for 280 Danish crowns, which according to today's exchange rate is 40 US dollars. And Denmark is known for it's high restaurant prices...so I think Ua frequents pricier places in general. Or maybe the prices in the USA are higher, but that perception does not jibe with what I have known for years, which is that Denmark is much more expensive for eating out than the USA. I like the way he closes his eyes and looks so absorbed in the experience when chewing as he tries his first taste of something.
UA, I just started watching and had to say that your assessment of Chef Ramsay is SPOT ON. We’ve eaten every GR restaurant in Las Vegas. You are one of the most intelligent and credible reviewers on the internet.
You were mentioned in a sunnyV2 video. Pretty cool.
Thanks for making videos again. I must say, Peter Lugar's is getting some high praise online but I enjoyed your honest review more. I'd appreciated this one as much so I can have a sneak peek into what to expect!
Im going bone in rib eye... The King of steaks...
Love your channel.. when you’re enjoying your food the look on your face is priceless.. Lol.. Old Homestead Steakhouse in AC is my favorite. The Gotham is incredible (Porterhouse)
Great video, UA! I'll definitely check this place out next time I'm in Atlantic City, even though I'll have to take out a loan to eat there! Anyway, I'm always looking forward to your next video!
Haha, don't forget take out a second mortgage
Love this!!
so underrated, keep it up bro
Hey ua love your reviews have a ? About the new York strip what are those ball looking things next to the steak
The bite with the pudding and ice cream.. “AAAHGGHHHHHHHH!!!!” 🤣🤣🤣
Glad i found your channel. Will u ever do a video on ny pizza?
Loved the unsolicited cameos 😂
I love Gordon Ramsey and his shows. Been to 2 locations of his and like most, the steaks were decent but there’s other better places with cheaper prices. His signature dishes and sides can be spotty. Sticky Toffee Pudding is definitely the best part. His desserts, wine selection and staff service are always great.
All the big name TV chef restaurants are like this. Even years ago, I ate at Anthony Bourdain’s restaurant and it was just ok
I genuine like your review , awesome
Here's a video idea. Go to a Korean BBQ restauant and spend the same amount of money as you would for a steak at a nice steakhouse and compare the experience: the price/to pleasure ratio, the amount of food you get (e.g. all the free side dishes you get at a Korean BBQ), and the dining experience. I love steak, too, but these kinds of prices are ridiculous for a piece of meat and some steamed/mashed vegetables.
They even added caviar to up the price. Pretty pointless.
Yeah, I wouldn’t pay for that noise.
That's actually a good idea!
@@uaeats I haven't seen anyone else do such a comparison, so why not do something new?
Just FYI, the "black poppy seeds" on the butter is actually black volcanic salt
I usually watch reviews like these when I'm eating. I like to think that I'm tricking my senses into making my food taste better x'D
Thanks!
Always a great review!👍
The steak is more medium than medium rare. The Beef Wellington is medium rare. Yes, a puffer-puff pastry would be nice.
As for vomiting mashed potatoes, that is one Hell of a description.😂
And I'd be satisfied with $2 fries under brown gravy. With a $5 meatloaf and $.99 coffee. Ah, well--those days are gone.
Agreed, that NY strip is definitely cooked medium. Gotta say tho it at least looked quite juicy.
Yeah I only do medium rare myself and I would be disappointed if that were given to me, that’s almost medium imo
I agree it was not really a medium rare. I actually think the waiter may have misheard as he said "nice and pink all the way through." It was still delicious though!
Dude's forgetting about the big pile of caviar sitting right on his plate which easily costs at least $10
Keep it up!! When you get your 1 Million Subs. Remember how you treated your fans on that video. You got the Magical Format now!!!
Wow I hope we reach that someday! For now I'm gunning for 50K
The prices in Atlantic City are definitely higher than they are in Las Vegas. As an example, the seafood tower for two is $109.
A good steak should never need any steak sauce …
omg! that steak look so delicious 😋😋😋
One thing I don't like about restaurants like that is the noise level. There's a steak place in Austin I know that has the best steaks but the noise level ruins the experience.
Thanks for the honest review. I am a retired restaurant owner from SF now living in Kona. I feel you are fair.
I once won the San Francisco Billy Award for best of the year award for best Burger for under $ 500 (I am dating myself) I mention this because I have eaten at some of your reviewed places and my thoughts mirror yours.
At the moment I am Sous Viding all my steaks and finishing in a hot cast iron pan -133.5 degrees for 2 hours and 45 minutes--if the meat is prime or choice this is perfect! For an inexpensive chuck roast 40 hours at 133 degrees and sear off in a very hot pan with butter, garlic, and Rosemary /-also a blowtorch for a perfect look!
Aloha Nui Loa
i knew a steak video was coming
What camera are you using now?
As I've said before, you and I usually agree on steakhouses. So, next time I'm in AC, I'll give it a go! It's a vacation week for me, so I may just wind up at Gallagher's as I have Broadway tickets. Thanks for another great review!
Gallaghers and a show, sounds like an amazing evening! And yep while Gordon Ramsay Steak was a bit overpriced I overall enjoyed it. I think it's worth trying!
You got it backwards. A ribeye is harder to cook than a filet, strip or sirloin steak, because of the high amount of fat that separates the fat cap from the rest of the steak. This can lead to the steak breaking apart and not cooking evenly. It’s why some places tie the ribeye together before cooking it. The easiest steaks to cook are always one solid piece.
Ribeye is easier to cook because of the fat as its easier to get tender, the fillet dosebt have tge fat so much easier to dry out, same as with turkey, harder to cook as most dry out because less fat.
@@mikeymike1854- You’re basically saying if you overcook your steak a ribeye will still taste good, because of the fat content. That’s true, but it’s easier to cook a NY strip, filet or sirloin evenly and at the desired temperature, because it’s one solid piece.
@@MrPatagonianFoxYou may be right regarding the doneness. My take though was more that ribeye is easier to make tasty, due to its high fat content and even if you overcook it a little it's still going to be juicy. Other cuts are not as forgiving
UA is one of the best reviewers out there.. Keep it up!. UA is one of the best reviewers out there.. Keep it up!.
Thank you!
I really appreciate your appraisal of the NY strip; I agree with your rationale for choosing it above the other cuts; I appreciate what you mean about the crust of grilled vs pan broiled, and I totally agree that if a steak is of fine meat and skillfully cooked, the various sauces are unnecessary. Now by the same token, if the meat in Beef Wellington is the same as in the steak, all the pastry and froufrou is even more inappropriate than sauce on a steak. Of course pan deglazed au jus or a beurre maitre d'hotel or anchois may often be appropriate, and like lemon in Italy may enhance a not quite perfect piece of meat. Oh. but Filet Sauce Bearnaise is so good. . .
Great comment on the mustard in the steak sauce. Weird;; very weird with steak. I was wondering about the mustard on the side of the NY strip. Mustard omission great with pork and not so much for beef. Maybe that’s a Scottish/English thing but I never experienced that in England.
This guy is funny everytime he takes a chew I dont know if he love it or hate it 😂😂 first time I see a food critic that gives you pure suspense lol
Can you review Tops Steak house in Columbus? If you do, put some lighting accents on your shoes, because it’s dark in there.
The invisible rubber band is called caul fat (aka fat netting if you are an original iron chef fan). Food looks way better than I expected. Would be surprised if Ramsay has stepped foot inside of that restaurant more than 3 times after the 1st year it was in business.
*more than once after the 1st week it was in business. There, fixed it for you.
@@mikeymutual5489 I was being generous! Wanted to give Ramsay benefit of the doubt. But you're probably right!
You make great videos, I really enjoy them!
Thank you!
Hey UA, I noticed that you often say things are "too steep" and such. Do you have a video of some kind of price guide for steaks when at restaurants or the butcher. I searched - but I couldn't find any.
Good question! It of course depends on the city and the quality of the restaurant, but I would say in NYC for example you should not expect to pay more than $70 max, even at a bougie place. The top end would be ribeye (and for $70 it better be a big ribeye), NY strip should be cheaper, then filet mignon, then everything else like sirloin etc. Btw $70 is a highhhh end for a very high quality ribeye. I would even say more like $60 is more fairly priced.
As for the butcher, this depends on fluctuating meat prices and inflation etc, but I would say for a prime ribeye you can expect to pay about $20-25 per pound, and around $17-20 for a prime NY strip. For choice quality steak I would not pay more than $12-15 per pound max.
@@uaeats , thanks for the benchmark.
Not surprising they is no consistency with the Wellington..depends on the chef working that day, like any high end restaurant..you’ll only find uniformity at McDonald’s, and even then, some are better than others…
Thx for the Cool review, Ive been curious to see ramsays restaurants and there's not many good vids about 'em. Maybe that has something to do eith with the Ramsay prices😅, even if i made super good money i might have to turn down a Ramsay ribeye. But the strip did look awesome.
That was a good review as always ! Pricing aside the strip steak look on point and a demi glaze on the plate look wonderful who needs steak sauce as far as the beef wellington you can keep it I want my filet mignon by itself itself on the plate don't need some pastry dough wrapped around it! Way overrated and hyped😮 oh and the bread like sleeping on a TempurPedic mattress so light and fluffy😂 I love good bread and butter before a steak and surf along with either french onion soup or lobster bisque prices were not too bad considering where you were you're paying for a real estate and the name
Prices are ridiculous. I can buy a wal mart steak and cook it and comes out looking just like that for less that $10. Crazy!!! No wonder Gordon so rich.
Looking. But not tasting.
4:54 The house steak sauce is complimentary. Be still, my heart ...
I think I ran into you "almost" in jersey city the other day 😂. I was going to grab some hotdogs @ boulevard but if course there was no parking. Caught the light around the corner. That's when I noticed "you?" Walk across the street in front of my car. So cool 😆.
Cool! If we run into each other again sometime say hi!
Oh man, I'm having flashbacks the last time I had the Sticky Toffee Pudding at a Gordon Ramsay restaurant. Good memories.
It's so good! One of my favorite desserts ever
I liken his videos he seems to enjoy food 😊
Thanks for giving it an honest review. Most people just can't get past the Price. Why can he charge what he does, because look at the place. there is always a full or near full house.
What part of South Jersey are you from? Im from Vineland
Price will be high bc of Gordon’s name and the casino. Too many people using casino comps…prices get inflated.
the trick to great new york strip is cutting part of the fat on the edge off, and dicing it. rendering the fat out in the pan, and then cooking the strip in its own fat making it absorb it like a sponge.
Been there. Not bad. Sent my med rare steak back for being under. Came back perfect. Great sides..
Some people call those "poppy seeds," "black salt."
What is that grainy looking stuff on the plate with the NY strip?
Wholegrain mustard
I want to try the beef Wellington.
i think NY strip is my favorite cut(although i've never had Filet mignon) i love making it with some bourbon pepper pan sauce(chef johns recipe) with mash potatoes and roasted asparagus
but that steak does look amazing
Hey Brother,SunnyV2 mentioned you on his latest vod about Salt Bae
You should review his restaurants in London!
I actually plan to! Once I'm able to go full time with the channel I want to do a UK trip and one stop will be Restaurant Gordon Ramsay
Im in Brazil(The Land Of Beef) cracking up over these prices.🤣🤣😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I love a busy restaurant
And it's so NOISY there. I couldn't go to a place for those prices with that much hustle and bustle. It sound like the Port Authority. You're right the crust is usually thicker on Wellinton.
Pricey man
The best steakhouse I've ever been to is Del Frisco's in Las Vegas. I hope you get to do a review there and compare it with other steakhouses, especially this one.
They actually have Del Frisco's in NYC. Maybe I'll try it someday!
Please come to San Francisco and try to get a resi (make advanced reservations) at house of prime rib.
Can you review Flemings
UA Eats, you´re in Sunnyv2´s video about Salt Bae!
I like him , his honest about business not ripping off coustomers who pay far money for food .
The food better be prepared in techniques that meet rhe price on value 🇦🇺👍😉
I've eaten at Gordon Ramsay Steak at Paris Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas which is a bit noisier. Never had straight steak, I always go for the Wellington which seemed smaller in the video. Probably due to shrinkflation. 😂 Another great steakhouse is Prime at Bellagio in Las Vegas by Jean-Georges Vongerichten. They serve a trio of complimentary steak sauces, but their signature one is the bomb. 🤤
I'm sitting here watching this while eating cereal... perhaps I can try and thick myself to thinking I am eating some steak lol
I was wondering who you damn remind me of and I finally got it - you are the Birdperson from Rick and Morty! :D
the sticky toffee looks delicious
I just came back from AC and tried Gordon's restaurant. I agree with the Wellington. Although it was good, it was missing some punch. The crabcakes were very nice. My wife had salmon with the Shrimp Risotto which was very nice. Overall a bit spicy, worth an experience.
In ny ny in Vegas the pastrami at green fields deli you will eat at every day
My favorite part is when UA takes his first bite, makes a face, and says, "Mmmm." Another great video review.
It's like a reverse Mark Wiens signature reaction. The better the food tastes, the smaller the eyes get.
You need to get a miniature tri-pod that swivels your phone. Why don't you do this? Ransay didn't popularize Beef Wellington, my mother made it in the suxtues, seventies rtc. Julia Child used to make it too. It's an old dish. Cheers
My preference is black & blue, this one lacks a good searing. The beef Wellington is on point. Enjoy the review. Less grimacing would be helpful, just IMO. Lol.
Yum❤
Thanks UA, but now we need a place to get a decent stake at a reasonable price. Where? 🥩🤔
Hey U.A, the crew over here was wondering how much they would have jacked you for the A1 steak sauce had you chosen it over the complementary bowl ?!? BTW - for future reference, this particular casino isn't pronounced "Hoorah's" it is actually "Harrazz" Hope this helps Yo ! 🎭🎲 🔍
I am wondering - if that black stuff on the butter with the foccacia wasn't black salt? :) Or did it actually taste like poppy seeds? It does look like black salt to me :D
Also! What is that egg-roe looking side "dip" next to the new york strip?? mustard or? :o I'm curious now :D
You are right about that being black salt. And that is whole grain mustard seeds as a garnish.
@@mikeymutual5489 Oh I see! Thanks for confirming :D
