@@ronvalente65 That wouldn't take much. I have tried numerous brands and flavours of curry sauces available from the supermarket over the years, and they have ALL been pretty crap.
Well said Gary. As a chef myself I think a lot of these high end restaurants are over hyped and over priced. 🤷♂️( six pounds for a bottle of water)!! That is taking the piss!!
I agree but they charge what they can get away with( as with anything I guess). If too many people refused to pay, they would have to lower the price but whilst people cough-up they have no reason to lower prices.
It depends really, if it was natural spring water, 6 pounds is OK-ish, I have seen a lot worse than that. But compare it to the tea he had for breakfast… 4.50…. excuse me? THIS is overpriced in my opinion.
An interesting critique of three of Gordon Ramsay's restaurants and appreciated hearing your views which were very fair. For dinner, they ask if you have booked partly out of politeness for those who have and in case it is busy which I imagine it can be. The suggestion being if later in the evening or on a weekend, it may be full and you would be turned down. So best to book ahead to be sure of a table. Also, people who book often are regular diners there and may have asked for a particular table for a party or whatever. In such cases, being ushered to your chosen table is all part of a quality service. Also, the saffron rice might have been a "small portion" but it was plenty for one person if having a three (or more course meal) - leaving you wanting more. It also looked beautifully cooked, not least as I adore sultanas in a fluffy saffron rice. Well done on taking the lamb as in my experience it is usually the let down meat. As for the sauce, the best place to get the perfect Indian-style sauce is in a good Indian restaurant. Enjoyed your crit nonetheless and even when entered into a little inquisitively your comments were fair and helpful - I would try all three restaurants as the decor and food quality is good - minus the noisy music - a wise choice on your part. Thanks Gary!
I made the comment about the booking Bernie as he did ask if I’ve made the booking and I replied no and he said he would try and fit me in the restaurant was empty at the time. The breakfast was good the burger not too bad, but the curry was nothing short of a microwave meal
When a "name brand" chef opens up dozens of eateries all over the world, all bets are off. There's no way he can control the quality, as you have proven today, Gary. His motivation is profit, not quality...take that as you wish. Great job, as always mate.
Any chef that takes pride in his cooking shouldn't be involved in these 'celebrity chef' restuarants, even more so if the chef is already worth multiimillions and hardly needs the cash from additional restuarants using his/her name. It's an attempt to fool the public that they are eating genuine Michlen Star chefs cuisine when it clearly isn't. Gordon Ramseys input, as you suggest would be minimal in the extreme.
This practice should be outlawed unless the chef has a direct involvement with the restaurant bearing their name, it should be construed as false advertising in reality.@@Coxy-b34
Jamie 'I'm desperate for a knighthood' Oliver's chain performed wonderfully!! Typical example of profit and ego over quality. Still, I'm sure he was more worried about changing the diets of 'the under classes' and driving back to his mansion to worry about swelling the queue at the Job Centre. Out of touch sanctimonious mockney prick!!
I love your reviews Gary because you visit, order and eat in the same way we all do. You don’t chat with the chef or get taken there by an insider and so you get the same treatment we all would get. And your reviews are always more than fair, based on flavour versus price. By the way, six pounds for a bottle of water! That’s probably six times what we pay for petrol here in Australia.
Water, clothes, mobile phones, shoes, cars, what's the difference?. People will pay stupid prices for things, just because it's got a name on it. It's madness
@@Wilburworm07Service charge isn’t that common across Britain. It’s a thing in France though, so I believe. I always tip anyway, so it makes no odds to me whether they take it or whether I give it!
I think old Gordon has spent too much time in the US and is trying to get the whole tipping thing to take off. Taking the order and dropping the plate off at the table doesn't count as a 'service' you pay extra for.
The reason you were asked if you’d booked even though it was quiet was to check if you were one of the people who had in case you had left any specific instructions or requests. Often people book in advance, not because it will be busy, but because they have special requirements. Checking if you were one of these people is good practice.
That curry 100% looked like a microwave meal you'd pick up from Aldi for a couple of quid! Keep up the good work and reviews - yours is a very enjoyable channel.
Relax atmosphere at Gordon Ramsay's restaurant in Mayfair will London isn't it my fair in London Mayfair how much was the breakfast at Gordon Ramsay's restaurant breakfast the total price
Good to hear its not just me with the Brioche bun/burger thing. Sesame bun for me everytime. My other burger pet hate is when the burger is massively taller than it is wide - impossible to bite into properly, usually end up knocking it to bits all over the plate and eating it with a knife and fork. Anyway, interesting day out, thanks for uploading, liking this format 👍
I love it when Gary says " Lets give it a go" . I just love watching your videos Gary. I consider you to be the best food reviewer on youtube. You always give a very fair and balanced review of everything. Huge fan from Canada
when I finish eating I want to feel full and satisfied not so hungry that I want to go home to eat some more. I remember from Gordon videos saying small portions, how does he stay in business, I would never go back to his eateries, I would starve to death if I ate there every day.
FYI - The colour of the yoke of an egg is not necessarily an indication of quality. One of my neighbours ran an egg farm and he said the feed suppliers can give you a feed that will make the yoke any colour you wish 😄 Really enjoy the videos 👏 Keep up the good work.
When a meal or drink ( a nice glass makes a difference) is presented well , I think it sends a message to our brain “ I’m going to enjoy this “. It’s the same with the colour of an egg yolk . 😊
A very balanced and fair set of individual reviews together with a generous overall score. I think the experience highlights the problem of putting your name above the door if you're not regularly on site to oversee the day to day operation. I don't expect Gordon R will be overly concerned with your reviews, although he should be, and I would be interested to know if he reaches out to you to discuss your comments about the curry. As always, the style and presentation is spot on Gary.
Many consumers are attracted and influenced by branding. We’ve come to expect excellence from brand RAMSAY. And as such, we expect quality at a price premium. The eggs Benedict was very good. So was the burger. The dinner was a disaster. If Ramsay had been served that, I would have heard the screams here in Australia. An excellent review and a fair score Gary. Well done.
Thanks Gary, your honest comments were appreciated. The restaurants are not somewhere that I would go to but you give people a chance to have a look before they take the plunge, thank you.
The portions and price..outrageous! I've seen bigger ready meals than the curry dish. The breakfast given the location is probably the only one I'd treat myself to given the opportunity. As always... Great review
The Eggs Benedict showed exactly what good food should be! Simple ingredients, cooked to perfection, served with no unnecessary fripperies...the burger looked decent enough...and the less said about that pathetic excuse for a curry the better!
To be fair, you can't go wrong with poached eggs on toast with a creamy accompaniment. If they can't get that right they should look at alternative employment.
The only thing missing on the Eggs Benedict was something fresh/green. The plate itself looked like it was walked out of a diner's kitchen. I would have liked to see a little more finesse.
Hi it started well but went down hill the last one I would have sent back.curry with no heat or flavour that small and under cooked.it looked like i had made it,the burger looked nice but small my favourite was the eggs benadickt.have to London soon i might treat myself to a portion..as usual excellent review keep it up.Allan
Great idea to do a day going around restaurants owned by the same chef. Looks like the day started great with the eggs benedict, then took a slight dip with the burger, then fell off a cliff with dinner! The eggs benedict seemed decent value, so it's hard to understand charging £4.50 for a pot of tea at the same place! Anyway, great stuff as usual, Gary 👍🏼
Ramsay probably has nothing to do with any of these restaurants. I remember someone telling me years ago he rarely steps foot in the 3 star royal hospital road place. He just puts his name to these places.
Another wonderful review Gary. And so innovative dedicating a full video to Gordon Ramsey's restaurants who must surely be watching. At the speed this channel's growing you'll be buying him out. Thank you for the great video.
Problem is I dont think he cooks even in his Michelin starred restaurants & hasn't for many many moons. I want to try Murano Cafe(?) in Mayfair which one of his head chefs Angela Rayner runs for herself now. Italian restaurant.
Yep,ur paying for the name! And if I recall from watching that crazy TV show,he was always looking to scale down on portions,( saving them money) he would often suggest to them to raise the prices ( and I suppose he has shown it's a successful Business model!) Yep apart from the Breakfast Rest,I wouldn't waste my time with the other two!
Hi Gary, Thanks again for the constant entertainment. My fellow chefs are hooked also, and we have adopted(stolen). Let's give it a go upon our menu taster sessions in work! As you're from Kent, have you ever visited Whitstable? It was my go-to place when training as a chef in london in the 90s . The home of the oysters and peter cushing! The crab and winkle way is an overpriced treat, and wheelers on the high street is lovely, but a true gem and time capsule is the tuder tea rooms. Thanks again , Alex
Love your reviews Gary. Open, honest, diplomatic and thoroughly enjoyable to watch. Hopefully some day you will make it down to Melbourne, Australia and review some of our cafes and restaurants. Give it a go Gary.
Big fan of your channel, Gary. Always enjoy the honest, fair reviews. As you said, if a restaurant chooses to put 3 out of 11 mains as curries, it's not unreasonable to expect the quality [and quantity] to be massively better than what you were served. Looking forward to your next videos!
There’s the portion size mentioned again - who cares about portion size 😂😂😂😂 it’s all about quality nothing to do with portion size. Would you like it if you get served a pile of greasy garbage that makes you feel crap , but it’s good “cOz iTs A big PoRtIon “ 🤤🤤🤤🤤
Always entertaining Gary. After a trip to Paris last year, I found the food to be outstanding everywhere I ate. It is disappointing to have supposed top class restaurants producing substandard food in the UK. 😢
Great concept Gary to try a chef’s different establishments for different meals. Love all your videos, honest and informative as always. It’s great to see your channel grow so quickly. Cheers and Congrats 🎉
Wow, the last one was a shocker! I do understand the ‘have you booked?’ though, because if you book using an app and aren’t ‘ticked off’ as being present you would get charged as a no-show.
Another excellent video Gary, I like how you factor all the non-essential stuff like music and general ambiance into the equation....I've got to say the first restaurant sounded more like a Wetherspoon, with kids screeching and all sorts going on....
(21) Well, at least the brekkie and lunch were good. Was REALLY surprised at the dinky portions of curry and rice; and the curry looked pretty lame from the get-go. Well, at least with the poor portion size you would not have to suffer through it for ages. Thank you SO much for taking us along for the Ramsay binge.
The breakfast was definitely the winner. I don’t blame you for choosing to sit outside at the burger place, there’s nothing worse than loud music in any setting it’s so jarring and completely ruins the experience for me personally.
I went to the Imperial Arms on Sunday after your wonderful review. It was absolutely delicious and the staff were lovely. I told them I came because of you. It was worth the journey.
How are you doing, mate? Been to all three places, my favourite place is Mayfair without a shadow of a doubt, but can't stand the burgers, but in Bread street Kitchen and Bar you should have tried the Beef Shin Ragu Ravioli, it's just fantastic. But another fantastic review in the bag, mate and please keep up the fabulous work! Have a wonderful rest of your weekend. Speak to you soon, mate! 😊 Take care!
Gary, putting in a full shift today, you & CTP go all out for us.The "Name over the door " restaurant's have never really been a big draw for me. More units a chef opens dilute the brand. It becomes a chain, the cost of some ( as you yourself have seen 😢) is over the top.And without " the main person " its a tribute act. Now on to the food. As you said that egg yoke, wow. Came from a very happy well fed, well looked after 🐔 A classic dish, that met the right spot.Excellent location. Lunch. Burger and fries. Top of the range and very tasty looking. Nice clean plate. Hearty Portion of good fries. The burger, like you Gary, i find brioche buns to sweet .That apart ,the overall filling excellent. Dinner.Thought you were given a child's portion or the daily diet special 😮 very small.Maybe a naan bread and or poppadoms included in the price 😅? So Ramsay Day.All great locations, well appointed restaurant's,cost as expected in a named eaterie in London. 15% service charge outrageous. All tourists traps or business men on expenses. For the rest of us " high days or holidays " Wonderful video, well filmed and as usual an honest review. Cheers Allan&Family
That curry was horror. Shame on Gordon ! That was his people , making his food shame on them too. Breakfast looked good but boring and lunch was blah looking too !
Actually Gary, whenever i see that you've reviewed a Ramsay restaurant, i automatically assume you're going to spend the majority of the time complaining about the "terrible" food, etc. The fact is that Gordon Ramsay's talent is undeniable, his status as one of the greatest chefs in history is clear by any measure and that he works hard to bring his best to his customers. Frankly, millions of people around the world enjoy Ramsay's food. Given all of the above, it appears to me that your opinions are not entirely without bias.
I have absolutely no bias towards Gordon, in this review I said the breakfast was excellent, the lunch was okay but the evening meal was absolutely disgraceful, that was no better than a microwave meal. I tried to be very balanced on all the reviews I give.
Hi Gary, love your videos, such honest and down to earth reviews - such a refreshing change with great friendly presentation. So glad to have found your videos, Happy New Year.
You have to be careful with egg yolks because some farms add spices and dyes to the chicken feed to manipulate the colour of the yolk. But yes, if a chicken is pasture raised and has a good diet with lots of worms and bugs then the egg yolk will naturally be orange instead of yellow.
Regarding your breakast I can say with confidence from the lovelely colour of the yolk that they are Burford Browns. Why? Because I work in the warehouse that supplies Ramsey and they really are probably the best eggs we ship.
congratulations to 40K subs! When I watched the first video a couple of weeks ago, it was at about 10K. The growth of your channel is incredible but well deserved. Keep up your excellent work and please stay as you are! Greetings from Germany
I actually walked past The Lucky Cat a few weeks back with family over from Australia. In the end, we decided not to go in..seeing at how good your eggs benedict looked, we should've given it a go. Another excellent video Gary.
I love the range and variety of your reviews and how you analyze the meals. You’ve risen to become my favourite food reviewer on RUclips. Being an Englishman living in Nevada, I get a real feel for home, as food here is much inferior. Thank you. Mr Ramsey needs to watch today’s episode and use the content to look at what his company is producing.
Gary quick fun question. If you could go out and dine with a celebrity past or present who would it be, where would you go and what would you order? Also what would you drink of choice be? Just a bit of fun🙂 great video as always sir😁
I was pleased you liked the Burger - as the GR Burger places often get poor reviews. The guy is clearly an amazing chef but should drop by his restaurants occasionally to see how the food tastes. Great idea for a review Gary. When you get to 100k subscribers go review Petrus or Restaurant Gordon Ramsay !!!!
Great video Gary. There is a GR restaurant in Liverpool close to where I live. A local review of a plate of fish and chips left me cold - the portion was miniscule. Personally, I would only order a curry in a specialist curry house. The breakfast looked truly delicious and worth the money. I am going to give a Hooters burger a go. A Liverpool Byron burger was not very good. So not much to beat. As always let's give it a go!
An interesting day of eating! Out of it all, the breakfast was the only thing that really appealed to me - the burger was okay, but not what I'd choose. That 'curry' was more like what my dear old Mum would've called "Lamb savoury rice"! (she didn't know anything about curry but made up some interesting combinations, back in the 70's!) I think for portion size, that ought to have been priced as a Starter, not a Main!
Shocking looking curry Gary! I wonder if Mr Ramsey has tried it?😂 Quick question, do you ever complain if the foods really bad? Keep up the brilliant reviews 👍
i would have sent that curry back. 5 small bits of lamb in a curry costing £23….HAVING A LAUGH You can do better iceland with some Encona hot sauce to add the spice
The third place seemed like a big disappointment! One of the main reasons I don’t eat out anymore. It’s hit or miss, with mostly miss. Was fun watching you, and our snowstorm❄️
Great idea for a video Gary, eggs benedict looked superb, as did the restaurant. The burger looked pretty ok really, but the curry looked awful with the runny sauce and microwave rice served in dog bowls....yuk. They are stretching it a bit with a 15% service charge I agree!
Just found your channel, and I have to say you have a great take on food, and give a straight review without being stuck up. Problem is, the video you take is so good, I get very hungry watching :) You have earned a subscriber here!
Hi Gary, I think they'd been tipped off that it was your third meal of the day at Ramsey's, you weren't that hungry. First two looked ok, the final didn't from the start. Surprised they gave you that size of plate, made the portion look even smaller. Another big name and another let down. Good job Gordon wasn't there to hear your comment on the last, that word he uses may have been used a few times. As usual, all the best until the next one.
Thank you for the review, always entertaining. Regarding the restaurant asking if you had a booking, the reason they ask is that sometimes people phone ahead to book and have dietary requirements, allergies etc, so they can let the kitchen know. I'm a chef/owner and it's pretty standard practice.
Very good work, Gary .... I have seen hundreds of shows where Gordon scrutinizes others people's food, then claims to offer the magic formula, then we hear the restaurant went bankrupt ... However, it was fun to see someone put Gordon under the magnifying glass for a change .... Here is the problem .... Gordon seems to believe he is an expert on everything these days - restaurants, hotels, and yes , I even saw him in a documentary about drug trafficking. I also find it interesting that (on TV) his children never seem to age, while he looks ready for the old age home. ... ok ... on to the food ... The breakfast looked good, but with a little practice, it is hard to mess that dish up .... The lunch was a burger. Again, hard to mess that up when you have Gordon's resources ..... and then the dinner .... That looked absolutely disgusting. Very small portion, miserable looking rice, some lamb tender and some lamb tough - never a good sign - nasty looking sauce and bland presentation. .... Gordon is not Superman and should stick to culinary styles he knows best .... I saw him in another video making a fried rice ... I thought he was about to have a heart attack or something ... His menus are getting messy and the "Have you got a booking gimmick" is comical at best .... None of those restaurants looked particularly busy ... Anyway, I thought your video exposed some of the realities of greedy celebrity chefs ... Those prices were not justified, in my opinion.
Gordon Ramsay is worth $60 million. He knows what he’s talking about. If you think you can maintain 3 star Michelin in all his outlets you’re having a laugh. Obviously this is not the business model. He worked his way up from nothing from a working class family in Glasgow to being the most famous chef in history. Give some respect
No idea how this video came on my RUclips recommendations 🤷🏻♂️ but I'm glad it did. I've enjoyed the way you reviewed the restaurants. I've subscribed and look forward to watching other videos
Hi Gary, if the meals that you review are sub-standard, do you tell the staff about your issues with your meals? If you do, what is the outcome? It would be nice to hear how they deal with any complaints that are raised.
Thank you for doing the Eggs Benedict, especially Gordon Ramsay’s Eggs Benedict. Those are lovely eggs, golden-coloured yolks. Where are the home fries? You are right it is on the pricey side, £4.50 for tea, ouch.
Thank you for another great review😊. The eggs benedict looked lovely and I could practically taste that burger 😋😂❤, however that rogan josh was embarrassing 😳
I totally agree with you about the evening Dinner- truly awful + expensive!( give me a weatherspoons curry any day!), I have eaten a burger at the O2 and felt the same. Ok but dislike the sugary brioche bun.Breakfast as a treat- ABSOLUTELY. Every Friday I have a eggs benedict with salmon and for about £14 with a coffee- so for Mayfair that is 'ok'. Lovely deep rich eggs and obviously made the hollandaise sauce rich coloured too.Nice review thanks Gary😊
The eggs benedict looked fantastic. The burger looked pretty underwhelming to be honest and the curry was shocking. You didn’t mention it but I thought it looked like it was served in 2 dog bowls. My two terriers eat from bowls like that. Very off putting. After I got over the shock of the dog bowls I thought it looked like a school dinner and I mean state school not private school. Wow.
Hey up mate was going to write that about the dogs bowls as I've two spare now that the restaurant could have, the second ov my two terriers died last year, amount of rice was disgraceful , the Rogan Josh well it's supposed to have pieces ov tomato and other stuff in it and visible, many years ago I learnt that this curry is the one that shows the talent/skill ov an Indian chef
Surely they have a black pepper grinder in the first fancy restaurant? Why are you using the ground crap from the pepper pot. It shouldn't even be on the table.
The "booking question" wasn't anything to do with how busy their restaurant was at the time. It's because if you DID have a booking they would want to know so that they can seat you appropriately. Often people who make bookings don't actually say anything unless they prompted.
Hi Gary, I keep hens and the yolks are always like that due to the freshness of the egg. So much creamier than supermarket eggs as well as they haven't hung around on the shelf for weeks.
A generous 6.5 , I'd have given it less , that curry was shocking. If I had done the same day but taken the good lady along with me that would have cost over £150 , we can do a monthly shop for that 🤣 Excellent reviews executed with panache 👍
Mr.Gary, your food reviews are on point. Amazing that you keep your soft, educated voice all through your meal. When I eat out, I turn into a gargoyle and dive into my food as if the world wouldn't see another day..😅
Great video I have eaten at his restaurant called the Maze restaurant it was the worst experience ever waiters never listened to the order plus tired to charge me something which never came 🤬this is a person who makes a living from telling others what to do 😂😂😂
Great video. I have experienced all of these three and my experiences were very similar apart from when I went to Bread street a few years ago it was more Italian focused, and was really good.. That curry looked a disaster. Though my street burger experience was via deliveroo which i think ruins the burgers a little due to the journey. The bun gets soggy. It steams itself in transit. The burger meat quality was still evident though. Mayfair bar and grill was good. I also went to a different bar and grill branch in London had the signature beef wellington which was super good, surprisingly light and easy to eat. Its Gordons main dish , plus the sticky toffee pudding. GR restaurants in my experience, (including Savoy grill, the one in heathrow, the one in Limehouse etc) is that they are expensive but quite relaxed, dependable, and solid. That curry though.. Weird. Shame. Gordon will be furious.
I admire your dedication to duty Gary, 3 meals in one day! It started well but went downhill from there. The curry was very poor for the price. Lamb rogan josh is one of my favourites but that was just a sad disappointment. I suspect Gordon's involvement day-to-day (except, possibly for Mayfair Bar & Grill) is minimal with the outlets simply leveraging his brand to justify charging higher prices & attracting unsuspecting tourists. Your channel has shown other brilliant London eateries that offer way better value & eating experiences. Keep up the great work Gary.🙂
In other countries he has put his name to FROZEN ready meals, which is hilarious if you ever watched his reaction to frozen food on Kitchen Nightmares. The shepherds pie is also made with beef, so I'm pretty sure he had very little to do with it. Makes you wonder if the same is true of some of the restaurants over here.
I’ve noticed that this comment section is so hyper focused on the curry review as if one dish being underwhelming beats out the other two experiences earlier in the video. It’s no mystery that people hate the success of others which is why so many of you are so negative. Gordon Ramsay is extremely intelligent, successful, charismatic and has a great life. Everything you people don’t have. I seen a few chefs commenting as well. Unless you have Michelin Star restaurants around the world I really don’t think you have much to say on this issue. I do agree with the presentation of the curry but that doesn’t change the fact that Gordon Ramsay is an amazing chef. He can’t physically be hands on in all of his restaurants and it’s up to the kitchen staff to maintain standards. Nice video from you, sir. Very unbiased and well presented. Your comment section is filled with sad people though.
Totally disagree. Ramsay deserves criticism for charging a fortune for average food that I could cook better. And fyi there are lots of very successful and talented people in the comments
absurd comment. it's his name up there and his bloody job to keep the places up to scratch. nothing to do with envy which you seem to know so much about
Many RUclipsrs would have split that into 3 separate reviews, especially with the costs involved in Gordon Ramsay restaurants... To gain revenue, Not our Gary 👏 Same as he did with the Wetherspoons review. Can't fault him! Or his appetite 😂
Going through some of your reviews found this one that I had missed ..the breakfast looked awesome just the cost of the tea and the added15% ...I would definitely go there for breakfast 😮
Loving the videos Gary. I’m not long back from London , I went to a few of the places you recommended on this channel. I highly recommend going for a burger at Burger & Beyond especially the burger draped in gravy and also Dinner by Heston at his 2 Michelin star restaurant which was amazing but I was £135 for 3 courses including a bottle of water.
Now we know why the kitchen wall is 20 feet tall , so you can't see them opening the Pattak jar for that Rogan Josh .
Haha brilliant Shahid!!
@macatac14 I have had Sher Khans and I agree ,they made it to their spec from their restaurant.
Erm excuse me Patak';s curry sauce is better than that!!

It depends really, if it was natural spring water, 6 pounds is OK-ish, I have seen a lot worse than that. But compare it to the tea he had for breakfast… 4.50…. excuse me? THIS is overpriced in my opinion.
Then they moan like Simon Rimmer ooh my rent on Greens in Didsbury has gone up erm how much do Channel 4 pay you for Sunday Brunch @@@@@hole
It's all ridiculously expensive.
Yep. You are right Brian.
This reaffirms my policy of never ordering curry from non-Indian restaurants
Never thought of that
I agree with you completely, but a restaurant shouldn't have a dish on the menu, that they can't stand behind.
G Ramsey was born in India I think
Agreed. It shouldn't be on the menu.
@@kenmay1572 What's that got to do with the price of fish? And thanks for only 'thinking'/guessing, and not checking anything.
Indeed Ian. I think you're right.
Wrong his motivation is always quality which brings profit, really reputation is everything in restaurant’s
Thank you Geoffrey. Yes, you're exactly right.
@GaryEats as you fame increases, you might have to go in disguise.
Wow that's saying something about the water.
Australia is expensive to start with. I lived there in a former life.
Yeah, the level of sincerity in this review is amazing
Water, clothes, mobile phones, shoes, cars, what's the difference?. People will pay stupid prices for things, just because it's got a name on it. It's madness
According to UK law, service charges added by the restaurant are entirely optional. If you refuse to pay it , there is nothing they can do.
Why pay a service charge for a half portion, anyway i pay what I feel its worth no restaurant should dictate what you should pay.
As an Aussie I have never come across a service charge
@@Wilburworm07Service charge isn’t that common across Britain. It’s a thing in France though, so I believe. I always tip anyway, so it makes no odds to me whether they take it or whether I give it!
I think old Gordon has spent too much time in the US and is trying to get the whole tipping thing to take off. Taking the order and dropping the plate off at the table doesn't count as a 'service' you pay extra for.
@@mickymazda1he can rely on tipping probably to pay his staff minimal wages.
The reason you were asked if you’d booked even though it was quiet was to check if you were one of the people who had in case you had left any specific instructions or requests. Often people book in advance, not because it will be busy, but because they have special requirements. Checking if you were one of these people is good practice.
Yes. It was a bit tongue in cheek.
That curry 100% looked like a microwave meal you'd pick up from Aldi for a couple of quid! Keep up the good work and reviews - yours is a very enjoyable channel.
Thank you mate 😄
Ramsey was caught with pre packaged sliced beef years ago.
Aldi actually have a range of inexpensive, decent quality ready meals.
I mean no disrespect to Aldi - I'm always in there and yes some of the Currys are v nice.
Thank you!!
Agreed, trad buns all the way.
The best bun I've had with a burger bar none is a pretzel bun. Had it in Chicago and they're incredible. Sadly, very rare too.
You need to stamp on the burger.
I'm don't like those brioche buns at all they have a sweet taste and nowt about them also for £18 you didn't get much ov a burger
I love it when Gary says " Lets give it a go" . I just love watching your videos Gary. I consider you to be the best food reviewer on youtube. You always give a very fair and balanced review of everything. Huge fan from Canada
Thank you so much. Means an awful lot.
That curry looked shocking. But also the portion size was taking the mick seriously 😂
Terrible on all accounts.
Yeh portion size 🥱
when I finish eating I want to feel full and satisfied not so hungry that I want to go home to eat some more.
Thanks for the info! Thank you :)
I saw a brand of egg in the last few years called NuYolk (I think) and they were showing off about their orange colour yolks.
When a meal or drink ( a nice glass makes a difference) is presented well , I think it sends a message to our brain “ I’m going to enjoy this “. It’s the same with the colour of an egg yolk . 😊
When one cracks an egg, a limp yolk of diluted color indicates it's not fresh.
Yea you’re right. They feed them a paprika laced feed that makes the yolk orange. I’m afraid colours are more and more being faked in lots of foods.
Thank you and yes I agree with you John.
He should be bloody ashamed of that curry
Many consumers are attracted and influenced by branding. We’ve come to expect excellence from brand RAMSAY. And as such, we expect quality at a price premium. The eggs Benedict was very good. So was the burger. The dinner was a disaster. If Ramsay had been served that, I would have heard the screams here in Australia.
An excellent review and a fair score Gary. Well done.
Indeed and thank you Christopher. Very kind!
Another fantastic video from Gary, i really appreciate all his videos. Always a great watch. Keep up the good work mate!
Thank you so much, I really appreciate that Nick
Thanks Gary, your honest comments were appreciated. The restaurants are not somewhere that I would go to but you give people a chance to have a look before they take the plunge, thank you.
Thank you Colin. I don’t blame you.
He went, so you don't have to
The portions and price..outrageous! I've seen bigger ready meals than the curry dish.
The breakfast given the location is probably the only one I'd treat myself to given the opportunity.
As always... Great review
yes my sentiments entirely looked like a ready meal on nice plates
Thank you!
Alarm bells would have been ringing as soon as I saw sultanas swimming around in the sauce.
@@ZeldaFitz Yeah, school dinner curry!
I put sultanas in my home made curry.@@ZeldaFitz
The Eggs Benedict showed exactly what good food should be! Simple ingredients, cooked to perfection, served with no unnecessary fripperies...the burger looked decent enough...and the less said about that pathetic excuse for a curry the better!
To be fair, you can't go wrong with poached eggs on toast with a creamy accompaniment. If they can't get that right they should look at alternative employment.
The only thing missing on the Eggs Benedict was something fresh/green. The plate itself looked like it was walked out of a diner's kitchen. I would have liked to see a little more finesse.
Nailed it. Thanks for watching!
@@GaryEats I have been wanted to try Street Burger, glad it was good I will add it to the list.
@@LdyJedi A few spears of nicely cooked asparagus works beautifully with soft poached eggs. I sometimes have that for breakfast.
Thank you Allen the curry was a disaster
Great idea to do a day going around restaurants owned by the same chef.
Looks like the day started great with the eggs benedict, then took a slight dip with the burger, then fell off a cliff with dinner!
The eggs benedict seemed decent value, so it's hard to understand charging £4.50 for a pot of tea at the same place!
Anyway, great stuff as usual, Gary 👍🏼
Thank you Warren. Yes, I will never understand why Tea costs so much in some places.
@@GaryEats At that price, I would of sneaked in my own flask of Yorkshire Tea!
Thanks for spoiling the video, saved me 25 minutes.
Ramsay probably has nothing to do with any of these restaurants. I remember someone telling me years ago he rarely steps foot in the 3 star royal hospital road place. He just puts his name to these places.

It's probably best to watch the video before reading the replies, have a good day! 🙂
Another wonderful review Gary. And so innovative dedicating a full video to Gordon Ramsey's restaurants who must surely be watching. At the speed this channel's growing you'll be buying him out. Thank you for the great video.
Thank you Stephanie!! Lol I wish.
If it isn’t Gordon Ramsey cooking it himself- and coming out and swearing at me then I’m not interested! 😂 Good review as always Gary👍🏻.
I'd need him to hold a slice of bread next to each one of my ears and call me an idiot sandwich
Thank you Margaret. Thank you for watching!
Problem is I dont think he cooks even in his Michelin starred restaurants & hasn't for many many moons. I want to try Murano Cafe(?) in Mayfair which one of his head chefs Angela Rayner runs for herself now. Italian restaurant.
Well put. You want the _full_ service, don't you?
Thank you and I will be going to Whitstable soon
Love your reviews Gary. Open, honest, diplomatic and thoroughly enjoyable to watch. Hopefully some day you will make it down to Melbourne, Australia and review some of our cafes and restaurants. Give it a go Gary.
Thank you Debbie. All the best and maybe in 2025!!
I’m so pleased I found your channel it’s great to see real, straight to the point, entertaining food reviews. Keep them coming Gary!
Thank you. I’m pleased you found them as well!
Much appreciated Paul and yes you're right. You can't have that many and serve poor food.
There’s the portion size mentioned again - who cares about portion size 😂😂😂😂 it’s all about quality nothing to do with portion size. Would you like it if you get served a pile of greasy garbage that makes you feel crap , but it’s good “cOz iTs A big PoRtIon “ 🤤🤤🤤🤤
he is talking about value for money. Duh!
Always entertaining Gary. After a trip to Paris last year, I found the food to be outstanding everywhere I ate. It is disappointing to have supposed top class restaurants producing substandard food in the UK. 😢
Thank you my friend
Great concept Gary to try a chef’s different establishments for different meals. Love all your videos, honest and informative as always. It’s great to see your channel grow so quickly. Cheers and Congrats 🎉
Thank you very much :) something a bit different for you all to enjoy.
Wow, the last one was a shocker! I do understand the ‘have you booked?’ though, because if you book using an app and aren’t ‘ticked off’ as being present you would get charged as a no-show.
Yes. Only tongue in cheek, Ken. Thanks for watching!
Gary, yours is one of the best food review channels out there...love the smirk on your face when you say 'let's give it a go!'
Too kind Carrie.
Those eggs with the orange yolk I'd say are Burford Browns which you can buy at Waitrose.
Very nice.
Another excellent video Gary, I like how you factor all the non-essential stuff like music and general ambiance into the equation....I've got to say the first restaurant sounded more like a Wetherspoon, with kids screeching and all sorts going on....
The mic's do pick up some background noise which I try to lower with the cameraman.
The Beef Wellington for 2 costs £120.00! No wonder it looked nice. Excellent review, as always, Gary.
Thanks 👍 the cameraman would have to sell his camera to get in on that!
Make it yourself then
Great idea and great vid - thanks!
Those eggs look like Burford Browns. Since discovering them, I never eat any other kind.
Thanks for watching! Appreciated.
Lol overall bill of £33 to get bent over the table for an Iceland style frozen takeaway curry and a bottle of water 😂
You're more than welcome.
Yeh portion size is what makes food good 🥱
Breakfast looked nice shocking curry instead of telling other restaurants they’re crap he should e looking at his own. Enjoyed the content Gary
Thank you Caroline!
The breakfast was definitely the winner. I don’t blame you for choosing to sit outside at the burger place, there’s nothing worse than loud music in any setting it’s so jarring and completely ruins the experience for me personally.
Yep!
u less its an Indian restaurant, then it sets the mood. 😀
Personal preference, not for me personally
I went to the Imperial Arms on Sunday after your wonderful review. It was absolutely delicious and the staff were lovely. I told them I came because of you. It was worth the journey.
Thank you Victoria :) over the moon that you enjoyed it. Thank you.
Spot on review, very fair in my opinion. Your conclusion at the end, London in the background regarding transport reminds me of Peking in the 1960's!!
Thank you Paul.
All good. Didn't feel great after the curry at all. I wish I had ordered that. The Bar & Grill was excellent, I must say Frank. Thanks for watching!
As per usual, you've nailed it Allan. Have a good week!!
Glad you like them! Happy new year 😄
Really fun video. That curry looked like a microwave meal. And so expensive. £6 for water - blimey. If you did all this in one day, well done 😂
Thank you. Tasted like it!
You have to be careful with egg yolks because some farms add spices and dyes to the chicken feed to manipulate the colour of the yolk. But yes, if a chicken is pasture raised and has a good diet with lots of worms and bugs then the egg yolk will naturally be orange instead of yellow.
Thanks for the info.
Regarding your breakast I can say with confidence from the lovelely colour of the yolk that they are Burford Browns. Why? Because I work in the warehouse that supplies Ramsey and they really are probably the best eggs we ship.
That’s brilliant to hear Dave thank you for the information 👌👌

I love the range and variety of your reviews and how you analyze the meals. You’ve risen to become my favourite food reviewer on RUclips. Being an Englishman living in Nevada, I get a real feel for home, as food here is much inferior. Thank you.

Got one in covent garden took one bite and threw it out
An amazing chef who clearly is not the chef cooking the food.
Haha I will try my best Rob.
Very disappointing David.
That's fair enough Liz. Thanks for watching!
Excellent idea for a video Gary and as usual great reviewing 👍
Glad you enjoyed it Kevin!
Shocking looking curry Gary! I wonder if Mr Ramsey has tried it?😂 Quick question, do you ever complain if the foods really bad? Keep up the brilliant reviews 👍
Sometimes. Nothing has been done previously though and thank you mate 😄
i would have sent that curry back.

The third place seemed like a big disappointment! One of the main reasons I don’t eat out anymore. It’s hit or miss, with mostly miss. Was fun watching you, and our snowstorm❄️
100% right. & in London is ferociously expensive. So unless you are expensing it on a company account you are putting a serious dent in your wallet.
always better to cook yourself, as long as you can cook of course.
Witherspoon do a decent curry for a third of the price with a beer.
Thank you!
Great idea for a video Gary, eggs benedict looked superb, as did the restaurant. The burger looked pretty ok really, but the curry looked awful with the runny sauce and microwave rice served in dog bowls....yuk. They are stretching it a bit with a 15% service charge I agree!
Thank you Nick!
Just found your channel, and I have to say you have a great take on food, and give a straight review without being stuck up. Problem is, the video you take is so good, I get very hungry watching :) You have earned a subscriber here!
Hi Darcy. Thank you and apologies for the brief hungriness.
This is an excellent episode, you are definitely getting better at this reviewing game Gary . 👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you Chris. Onwards and upwards!
Lol indeed. Thank you for watching David!
could actually be right haha, depends if gary mentioned his plans to them from the start
Another great review video. That Burger looked amazing!
Thanks so much!
Thank you for the review, always entertaining. Regarding the restaurant asking if you had a booking, the reason they ask is that sometimes people phone ahead to book and have dietary requirements, allergies etc, so they can let the kitchen know. I'm a chef/owner and it's pretty standard practice.
Thanks for the info!
well done Gary,love your reviews,
Glad you like them Angela!
I’d be furious with that curry. £33.93 😮 you handled it well. Great work 👍
Appreciate that Matt 👍🏼
Exactly I used to be a waiter and you would only ask someone if they had booked on busy nights when you were short on tables
Thanks Mark. Yes, the dinner was atrocious.
Got enough ellipses there mate?
Gordon Ramsay is worth $60 million. He knows what he’s talking about. If you think you can maintain 3 star Michelin in all his outlets you’re having a laugh. Obviously this is not the business model. He worked his way up from nothing from a working class family in Glasgow to being the most famous chef in history. Give some respect
Then pass what he knows to the chefs in his restaurant! No excuses.
No idea how this video came on my RUclips recommendations 🤷🏻♂️ but I'm glad it did. I've enjoyed the way you reviewed the restaurants. I've subscribed and look forward to watching other videos
Awesome, thank you!
Hi Gary, if the meals that you review are sub-standard, do you tell the staff about your issues with your meals? If you do, what is the outcome? It would be nice to hear how they deal with any complaints that are raised.
of course not.
I do not. Sorry. Saying that, I did in the Seashell and nothing changed.
Thank you for doing the Eggs Benedict, especially Gordon Ramsay’s Eggs Benedict. Those are lovely eggs, golden-coloured yolks. Where are the home fries? You are right it is on the pricey side, £4.50 for tea, ouch.
Glad you liked the Eggs Benedict, Patrick. Thanks for watching!
Feed laying chickens corn kernels and a bit of paprika and your egg yolks will look wonderful too.
Thank you for another great review😊. The eggs benedict looked lovely and I could practically taste that burger 😋😂❤, however that rogan josh was embarrassing 😳
Thanks so much! 😊 Yes not good.
You’re welcome!
Wow.
A fair point Jill. It did indeed look like that!
Hey up mate was going to write that about the dogs bowls as I've two spare now that the restaurant could have, the second ov my two terriers died last year, amount of rice was disgraceful , the Rogan Josh well it's supposed to have pieces ov tomato and other stuff in it and visible, many years ago I learnt that this curry is the one that shows the talent/skill ov an Indian chef
i thought the amount of hollandaise was very stingy,,, should have thick lashings of it!
Surely they have a black pepper grinder in the first fancy restaurant? Why are you using the ground crap from the pepper pot. It shouldn't even be on the table.
Good point.
Cups of tea are expensive when you think about how much a single tea bag must actually cost.
Yeah that is insane. No reason a cup of tea should cost more than 1.50, not matter where you have it
@hilltoptanks2975 you're absolutely right
Pennies per bag?
I hope that wasn't a tea bag??!!
The large water at £6 WTF 😂
The "booking question" wasn't anything to do with how busy their restaurant was at the time. It's because if you DID have a booking they would want to know so that they can seat you appropriately. Often people who make bookings don't actually say anything unless they prompted.
Thanks.
Hi Gary, I keep hens and the yolks are always like that due to the freshness of the egg. So much creamier than supermarket eggs as well as they haven't hung around on the shelf for weeks.
Also, corn and fresh green grass give orange yolks.
@@lilynorthover8378 absolutely, mine are corn fed. They love a grape as well!
@@Adam-zq5rw oooo haven't tried grapes. Do you cut them in half?
@@lilynorthover8378 yep! They love them but only as sweet treats for them. ☺️
Colour of the yolk is determined by the chickens diet , the more carotenoid rich the deeper the colour.
A generous 6.5 , I'd have given it less , that curry was shocking.
If I had done the same day but taken the good lady along with me that would have cost over £150 , we can do a monthly shop for that 🤣
Excellent reviews executed with panache 👍
Thanks for watching! Very kind of you to say so.
You're generous Gary 2 and a half for dinner, I was thinking only 2, 1 for trying and 1 for the rent they have to pay.
Lol!!
Mr.Gary, your food reviews are on point. Amazing that you keep your soft, educated voice all through your meal. When I eat out, I turn into a gargoyle and dive into my food as if the world wouldn't see another day..😅
That really made me laugh thank you so very much 😂😂
Great video I have eaten at his restaurant called the Maze restaurant it was the worst experience ever waiters never listened to the order plus tired to charge me something which never came 🤬this is a person who makes a living from telling others what to do 😂😂😂
Disappointing to hear.
Don't worry about Gordon it's only a side line.
Indeed. I think the burger will only be good if you eat in as it stays hot as well. Thanks for watching!
Thanks Paul. Yes it did, very downhill. Thanks for watching!
Hi,Again Gary Hope your well. if you like blue cheese, when you get to ireland, try some Cashel Blue!
Sounds great! I absolutely love cheese.
Why would you order indian food at a pizza restaurant then compare it to the local Indian though?
As I said in the review nine main dishes were available four of which were curries
@@GaryEats and you couldnt go to another pizza place?
Very fair comment and thank you
Totally disagree. Ramsay deserves criticism for charging a fortune for average food that I could cook better. And fyi there are lots of very successful and talented people in the comments
absurd comment. it's his name up there and his bloody job to keep the places up to scratch. nothing to do with envy which you seem to know so much about
@@jasperpike242 I truly don’t give a flying fukk what you think. Sorry.
Many RUclipsrs would have split that into 3 separate reviews, especially with the costs involved in Gordon Ramsay restaurants... To gain revenue, Not our Gary 👏
Same as he did with the Wetherspoons review.
Can't fault him!
Or his appetite 😂
Thank you Tel. Much appreciated, I wanted to bring a different video for you all you today.
Going through some of your reviews found this one that I had missed ..the breakfast looked awesome just the cost of the tea and the added15% ...I would definitely go there for breakfast 😮
I agree it was a good breakfast Craig 👍
Loved this but that last dish looked like it was served in dog bowls 😮
Lol!!
They’re called Katoris. That’s racist to be honest. Dog bowls? wtf
Curry looks like a microwave meal, no nan, nothing
It was a disgrace
The saffron rice looked like it had been reheated in a microwave oven. Ramsay would have had a fit if he found out .
Dry and tiny.
hard bits in the rice was because it had been hanging around in the hot plate. piss poor for the price and name.
Thank you my friend. Where have you been?
@@GaryEats I went to Paulrotheandson deli for a pastrami, cheese, gherkin, mustard sandwich was very good! And also the Hinds head
Brilliant. What were your ratings?
@@GaryEats For me the sandwich was a 9.8 and the Hinds head fish & chips was an 8.
Gordon you donut, you served the food in dog bowls.
You got it right he is a doughnut
Lesson learned Don’t eat Indian food at Gordon’s restaurant 😂
Do not. I didn't feel great straight after it either.
Hey Gary great to see Gordon getting roasted lol 😆 his foods awful just his name makes him bigger
The last meal… one of the worst I’ve ever had.
Madness mate
Ben Deen reviewed all of Ramsays Hells Kitchen burgers they are made of Frozen Beef not fresh !!! GR needs to get a slap for that lol
That last one was probably a ready meal with some added extra lamb, hence the differences in how tough/tender the pieces were.
I agree with you completely
