I would have expected his restaurant to be all hype, marketing and no actual substance. I don't eat red meat but the beef dishes still looked appetizing to me. I would have expected there to be more than "one" lobster ravioli but overall a very impressive meal! Thanks for taking us along.
I’ve eaten at his flagship restaurant since his first opening when he was the chef and perhaps 20+ more times since. It is one of the very best restaurants in the world! Stand in Budapest is right up there too. Next time have take 4 and have their Sommelier, James Shaw, pair wine with each course. It elevates the meal to a stratospheric level. Finally, I’m sorry you missed the best restaurant manager in the entire world, Jean-Claude Breton, who brings the meal to another level when he accompanies and explains each course! I actually look forward to vegetable dishes in restaurants the most, because vegetables are so good and underrated if done well. But choosing Ratatouille over Gordon Ramsay's famous signature Lobster Ravioli would have been so incredibly unlikely for me, but UA Eats is so convincing that I might share half a ravioli and half a ratatouille with my lunch mate if I ever get the chance to be there. Thank you for sharing your Restaurant Gordon Ramsay experience. Not cheap by any means, but as a RUclipsr, you can write part of it off. As for the meal, it looked simply amazing. Too bad the portion was not a bit larger.
That is right , it is business so one can write it off on takes. Of course you can take a loss for the first 3 years I believe. There is a hot dog stand 10 miles from the Hawaiian For Seasons where I would like to stay I can give an assessment of the resort and the hot dog.
The thing about these sorts of "high end" restaurants - you go for the experience more than the food itself really. While normally, the food is incredibly good in places like this, it's all about the experience of being there, being told everything in the dish, how it's made sometimes, specific cutlery or dishes for each course, etc. And while depending on the menu, you can get 8, 10, 12, even more courses and get full pretty easily even with the small portions most of the time. For the "average joe" spending $350 on a tasting menu such as this, with very small portions and a very narrow choice of food each course has, it's usually seen as just for "rich people" or people who want to show off (flex I guess the kids say these days lol). All that being said, I've had the pleasure of eating at restaurants such as this before and I hate the saying "don't knock it till you try it" but in this regard - I totally agree. I've had culinary training (at the Culinary Institute of America) and know what goes into a fine dining experience and it is NOT easy work and it's certainly not for the faint of heart. These chefs and cooks and servers and everyone work their asses off to make the "experience" something memorable. And that's why I always recommend people, if they can, do something like this at least once in their life.

Paying for the experience? He literally had bugs crawling around on his food. He should have been paid to eat there, not paying to eat there. How gross.
I liked RGR a lot too. The standout dish when I went was a spelt "risotto" with a parmesan foam, artichoke, maitake and wild garllic flowers. Just incredibly umami, the flavour really lingered and I was almost upset that the palate cleanser granita that followed erased most of the taste! The ajo blanco dish (which uses macadamias instead of almonds because Matt Abé is Australian) was also particularly memorable. The mushrooms were morels - the best mushroom as far as I am concerned.
I agree but I kinda get it from their perspective. If you already are a very prestigious restaurant you don't have much to gain and everything to lose if a RUclipsr posts a bad review. Otherwise places like this tend to only allow RUclipsrs who are vetted in advance and they schedule your visit. That's why I just show up unannounced so I can pass as a tourist and always give honest reviews
I think the whole dinner would just constitute an appetizer for me. I would actually need a main entree. Or leave there starving. No wonder rich people are so thin. Lol.
Half Brit/American here. In England I call it sirloin, State side I call it porterhouse ( but yes it is also known by some as a New York or Kansas strip).
You'd be surprised how much meals like this will fill you up. @@worldsgreatestimpressionis6462yes, it's a tasting menu; you aren't going to get a 10oz steak as a main.
As for the bug, that is surprising... let's call it freshness. The food at this place is fantastic, anyway.
Awesome video! I thought till the near end, that you always said "hot cuisine" until I realized it's haute cuisine :D keep on going man
Haute pronounced oat
Little green bug on the food 11:41
Wow I had to watch it a few times to catch that!
I don't think there was or they would of added it to the bill.
Bonus protein lolol
Lol ive never had a bug in my food even from low end places, i guess they were serious when they said fresh spring taste 😅
2 stars!
Awesome review UA! Quite the adventure for the fans trip abroad to Michelin restaurant. A special one to get into next can be that top world ranked restaurant in Italy or Alinea here in chicago. Not sure if you can film at them?
OSTERIA FRANCESCANA the Chef/Owner is a culinary wizard
@11:41 THAT BUG IS RAW!!!!
@edntz it took me about four viewings to see it but its there. If you look right at the center of the video you can see a tiny, light green bug circle and then make its way down a dark green leaf.
ruclips.net/video/TZcPMSv61EI/видео.html Here's a clip for anyone who can't see it. Gross.
Donkey!
thats out of this World, a big Thank you
It would be out of my price range. But what a wonderful experience..and food looked so delicious…
bro, price range actually u pay the whole package. And u going there to enjoy ambience because Gordon ramsay restaurant is not to make u full but for u enjoy ambience actually
AMAZING review as always!!!!
This is now on my bucket list. The food and service looked absolutely perfect. Gordon is THE man
The classiest & most entertaining learning lesson episode on this channel thus far 👍 Absolutely devine
Thank you!
I have been to GR Steak in Atlantic City 2 times with my sisters. The experience both times was awesome! The staff in particular were incredible. We loved pretty much everything we ordered. A must try if you can!
I really enjoyed this video, UA. Looking forward to more.
I hope you and Tina are enjoying your time in Beijing. I do hope you do a McDonald's review.
I will try!
Come on , he has just completed his heavenly experience.!
5:38 4:43 I agree, can't tell if he's disgusted or loving it! Love those intense facial expressions lol! I was super curious about this restaurant, Thanks for sharing!
Great video! Thank you
Looking at you makes me remember the first time I’ve worked in a Michelin star restaurant and tried what I had to master it blew my mind at that time
Stunning presentation, but I found the fish underdone, sorry.
Everything else PERFECT.
I agree regarding the fish. I think it was intentional but I wasn't the biggest fan.
Great review 👍 Some day I'll get there 😢 Definitely on my bucket list! Your facial expressions were priceless 😂😂
You should have cut the cheese thing in half so we can see the inside. lol
But it was smaller than a ping pong ball!
love this guys faces. Dropping a sub.
1. Never eat a salad with a spoon. 2. The Ratatouille had artichoke hearts in it. That's the first thing I'd taste. 3. Zucchini is not a root. 4. With 2 slices of steak, take smaller bites. This is not Denny's.
He was taken aback that the cutlery wasn't plastic.
Shut up Hans
looks an amazing experience. As your in london, dont forget to go see wembley stadium, Fa Cup final was there, although you wont find any 3* food anywhere near it 🙂
am i tripping or was there a green bug on the potato meal
Mister25german, Good eye, great catch. I had to watch the video a second and third time on a 75 in TV, to actually see this thing but you are correct sir, there was a live bug walking on his asparagus and the other green vegetables.
What time in the video was this?
@@xneapolisx 11:41
Extra protein...
Your right! Shows how fresh those ingredients actually are! It’s walking on the leaf resting on the asparagus pointing to us.
Thank you! Love this! I'm on a Gordon Ramsey binge on youtube. ❤🌹😊
bro's face of amazement is the face of pure disgust, wtf lmao 😂
First time watching your channel. Thankyou for such a great vlog. I've subscribed of course.
Have you seen "The Menu" movie? I'd be paranoid to go to a really nice place, haha! I missed the premiere as usual, but loved the vid. Thanks UA, have a great rest of the weekend! PS: Those tiny portions for that price are ridiculous though, I'd almost want to be s'mored after that 😜
I love that movie! Hopefully I don't resemble the foodie snob character too much haha. Portions indeed are not large (esp the steak) but to be fair it's many courses and you definitely will be full by the end
@@uaeats no way you come across that way, I'm sure you'd hear it from us or Tina if so, haha. Thanks again!
He’s worth watching, so genuine.
100$ that steak was cooked sous vide...
fabulous, would love to check this place out :) really liked the welcome canapes and the plates were fantastic. The presentation was incredible as well as im sure the incredible flavours of the dishes!. Would be great to go for a birthday or special occasion
His expressions is killing me! He looks disgusted yet says it's yummy 😂
Thank you for this video.
Pricey but you’re paying for the experience! Thank you Sue
I'm pretty sure he's paying for the food.
@@justicedemocrat9357
That’s what I mean by experience, the whole experience.
Paying for the experience? He literally had bugs crawling around on his food. He should have been paid to eat there, not paying to eat there. How gross.
Gordon Ramsey was brought up in England, not Scotland
Correct, but his heritage is in fact Scottish.
@@mahinmarya1555... Glasgow Scotland to be precise
'Praline' is a form of caramel...
Great vlog/review. Quick note though, artichoke is not a root, it's actually a flower
These places should welcome RUclipsrs; it’s honestly free publicity for them!
Yeah because they definitely struggle without it 😂
LOL
No.
What a convoluted mindset 😊@@trollzone1
They definitely do not need any publicity, and the people that eat there do not want to be filmed. If they are filmed they usually do not come back.
@@trollzone1 id shake you back and forth as mad as possible
Hey great video man, as a guy who is reading to become a chef, this video gave a really nice perspective of some of the high end dishes there are.
I think the whole dinner would just constitute an appetizer for me. I would actually need a main entree. Or leave there starving. No wonder rich people are so thin. Lol.
You are the reaSON BUFFETS WERE MADE...GET A LIFE!!
That's more than 1500 calories on that total meal.
If that's just a starter for you then you must eat hugh meals
Probably best ordering 3 course ala carte and adding a full dish. You should be suitably stuffed full.
The background music is perfect 🤣👍
3 Michelin stars and a bug on the asparagus. Gordon would say "F*ck me!" Sad.
@edntz11:41
@@worldsgreatestimpressionis6462what sector of the dish is it in?
@@pooman2 mid-salad
There’s no bug.
@@worldsgreatestimpressionis6462 you’re insane
Half Brit/American here. In England I call it sirloin, State side I call it porterhouse ( but yes it is also known by some as a New York or Kansas strip).
Be honest - did you go to McDonald's afterwards? 😜
You'd be surprised how much meals like this will fill you up. I know the typical American viewpoint is "small portions mean not enough food" but when it comes to restaurants like this, they're doing all of that for a reason. I've had a number of similar meals at higher end restaurants and have never left hungry
The extended time to finish your meal helps you feel fuller on less food.
@@llife9736 I think people forget these types of tasting menus can have seven-plus courses. At that many courses, you're definitely full.
@@Sacto1654we saw all the courses. My man paid 300 bucks for some veggies, a 2 ounce piece of fish, few bites of steak and a small dessert. Tasting menu or not you should leave feeling like you got your moneys worth.
@@billy306 you got your moneys worth because of the top quality ingredients, prepared by the finist skilled chefs served in an amazing atmosphere with the finest service by an owner who is one of the best in the world....... don't forget THAT'S ALSO what your paying for. If u just want to stuff you belly for value for money then go to McD or Burger king or get something from the super market.
This is NOT an all you can eat buffet where you fast b4 going lol
always great video. Coming to New York for Fancy Food Show next month. Would love to get some ideas on where to eat. Also, let me know if you want a pass to attend the FFS.
you call this man a critic? He does not know know what a praline is?? he seems to be surprised at all of the dishes:::: maybe he should stick to fish and chips and roast beef and yorkshire?
you're free to not watch this channel. Shove off
I hope it was VERY GOOD , Because it for sure isn't much Food for the
