this is exactly how an officer should talk to enlisted, one on one to see about how they're dealing with grievous loss of a friend. Soldier's heart, shell shock, battle fatigue, PTSD. one of the great moments in the story. I was in UAE when Vice Admiral Stearney visited about a week before he took his life. His visit was a huge morale boost. His passing took a lot of wind out of the Fleet's sails. You don't need to struggle alone, military or civilian.
Principle Number 3 in the Marine Corps is to "Know your Marines and look out for their wellfare". This Officer actually paid attention to what he was swearing as a Marine.
I like how they made Chief have more character but the in my opinion I think the didact should have sucked Chief off. Would have made the game win award of the year
My heart, just reading the comments. So proud to know people have emotional awareness. This scene is where Halo grew up. And is why Halo 4 is my favorite aside from Reach and CE.
This cutscene shows how much Lasky and Chief has changed. The way they bonded in Forward Unto Dawn, and In the Game. “I’ve lost people i cared about,” ( scenes in forward unto dawn ) and somewhere in the unknown. Can’t wait to see what Infinite changes. I just hope Lasky returns in 6. He’s a good character, a good friend too Chief, and a good leader. I remember my first time I have encountered with Lasky, ( In the game ) He was a good character, and was thinking how much he would change in 5, but no. After Cortana’s betrayal ( Halo 5 ) and finally noticed she was alive, he broke even more, I hope chief has a new AI to talk to so he can at least feel like he’s human again! And the weird feeling is I haven’t told my family that Also felt like a machine 9 years ago after Losing my dad from a war. Now I have moved on I feel more human, but what I’m trying to say, If you feel like a machine like Chief has. Remember, “Soldiers aren’t machines, we’re just people.” We make mistakes, we change them, no matter the cost.
I felt like a depressed machine who's batteries were being depleted day after day but then something happened something just snapped inside of me and said to myself no, I'm not gonna take this anymore, this isn't how it ends I'm stronger then this
I always come to this video to help remind me why I became a police officer. I know there's been a lot of bad but I swear with every part of my being, that I will be the best that I can be and try to extinguish the stain left by bad officers everywhere. It's not about countries or about being a patriot. It's about the children and preserving the continuity of our species. Its never been about me, but about the future generations that will come thousands of years from now. I don't care if I die for this cause. I have to try.
@@B-SybrZaku-ThendHaloAirsofting it’s just my feeling, like when Chief found Cortana in halo 3, they went for subtleness over sapiness and it made the scene 1000% better and they had that here other than this line, just my opinion tho
Nicholas Hines I mean sure but the whole point of H4 was to build Chief’s character and he didn’t talk much still compared to later H5. But it does show his exact emotion to hearing what he said. And it is just a good line in general.
I thought about that, and I think the "about being a machine" part should be cut for subtlety, but i think "She said that to me once" contributes to Chief trying to not be like a machine by being open.
wish laskey would have said the machine part reffering to Silva in corbulo. "your not a machine Tom!" (one of the arguments about him trying to be a good soldier and his stance on avoiding bloodshed when possible"

This is heart breaking, it’s sad that h4 got so much backlash, first time in halo John gets character development and people couldn’t take it.

Brain Music lol
That wasn’t the reason people didn’t like it
J Swid part of the arguments against h4 were Chief talked to much so this comment is correct
@@B-SybrZaku-ThendHaloAirsofting Really? I thought people just didn’t like the A.I., story, redesigns, and cortana.
This is singularly one of the finest moments in fiction. Star Trek calibre. And thats fucking hard to do.

I like halo reach campaign a bit better than 4 cause of the art style haha

I find it appropriate the timestamp is 117

@1:33.
When is it that something is said, and causes master chief to immediately notice.
''she said that to me once......''
She said that to me once...about being a machine.

I believe one day we will have machines that behave more like humans and humans that behave more like machines.

It's a long stain officer, but your spirit's strong, and sometimes thats all that's needed. Do your duty, protect humanity, whatever the cost
LEGEND
Halo 4's story never deserved the hate it got
He has a similar story to ghost during the early stages of spartan testing
If you took out the “she said that to me once, about being a machine” line and let that theme be more subtle, this scene would have been perfection
If it still gave me goosebumps then it deserves to be there

See the halo TV shows can take lessons from how to characterize master chief from this ONE scene.

is there a soundtrack for just this part
No but this specific track is called Never Forget Midnight Version
