you chose a great microphone, and / or your audio editing is on point. sick terrarium, was thinking of doing something similar just too lazy to make the space for a large enough 'rarium. maybe i'll just set something like this up in the backyard, just dig it into the ground a little, free access to critters to escape, under the shade of the vegitables. take it with me when the lease expires ;)
Glad to see you incorporated voiceovers! The videos flow much more smooth with them, as we can appreciate the visuals of your terrarium and life more without having to read text.

i have a terrarium with a pond that is some how at the same level yet not having anything blocking it from the substrate, it’s survived for 3 years now
Thank you. Your terrarium looks much better than the one I once made, and mine was not "free" because I purchased terrarium plants. Moss is hard to come by in Central Texas, so I didn't have any. But I also made a little pond using a whiskey glass. When I was done, I talked to myself and said, 'Now, what I need is a lizard." My cat brought me a lizard, the perfect terrarium lizard in fact, Plestiodon fasciatus, the common North American five-lined skink. That lizard drowned in the pond. My cat noticed as I removed the body and put it in the trash. I filled the pond with rocks almost to the top. The cat, smarter than me, brought me another lizard. That one lived for years.
I watched a couple of your future videos and really like your dry wit. I have just watched through from your first video and finally here it is, the video where you find your voice. I'm looking forward to watching the rest and seeing your confidence develop. Well done young man.
My daughter found a 4 inch elephant hawk moth caterpillar in our garden last week, so I decided to rehome it in a glass jar with some moss, stick and leaves. After 1 day it decided to bury itself in the moss and overwinter. So now I guess I'm stuck with this jar in the kitchen until it hatches into a big moth in May.
i made a 100 Gallon Tank into a terrarium with plants that were at my grandmas place, i split the tank into 2 different areas, a pond and a landmass. i used tapwater for the pond and well.. 7 days after i put the tap water in i found living organisms that came from the tap water. i put one slug in the tank, isopods, springtails and centipedes into the tank. and the population of slugs is over 100. lets just say that you know how to manage things better than me 😅
I'm really glad you decided to talk in your videos. It was a 100% improvement! I just found your channel, subscribed and now I'm watching a bunch of your past uploads. I found your channel a few days ago and have been busily bingeing every video on your channel. Of course I am also subbed. This terrarium is lovely. And while this is a nice voiceover, I love it in your later videos when you are joking. You had me laughing my ass off. Love your channel! ❤😂
Yes it would but it wouldn't stay as 'fresh' and the pond might dry out because the water would evaporate and "rain" back down in other places in the terrarium
I'm about to order an ant colony but probably going to put them in a seperate (smaller) terrarium first. But if the colony grows I might move them in to this bigger one!
Unfortunately ants will find a way to escape from a small area if they are not confined in an ant-proof enclosure. You need something made especially for ants, and an old aquarium won't work. I know, because I tried it, and the colony of ants, having grown larger, executed a mass escape in the middle of the night and took up residence in my computer printer...
hey i have a question. how did this terrarium turn out with no lid? i am struggling to find a tank like yours to make a bioactive terrarium like yours that also includes a lid. i am truly inspired by this video to make a large bioactive terrarium but i worry that it having no lid would be a huge problem. would that matter?
(also i live in vermont which is a colder climate but during the summer it gets to like 80° so would the fluctuating temperature and humidity be a problem for the critters inside? and maybe ants if i were to add them?
This is a pretty recent video where you can see it: ruclips.net/video/duyCHElj9xY/видео.html. This terrarium has a lid but it isn't air tight or anything there are hole in it. Doesn't realy matter you just have to add water regularly. If you use insects that are native to your animal the fluctuation in temperature and humidity won't be a problem
