Original idea was to make medieval style map in 1 hour, but I never could come up with a layout that would be possible to do under 1 hour haha. I just spend too much time doing nothing.
So here is me using couple of prefabs and then trying to tackle it again. 1 hour and about 20 minutes in it is finished. If you count the time it took me to make prefabs and all I would say this is pretty ok for 2 hour map. Monster limit on original idea was 30 which I managed to keep on this one.
Soundtrack on background is from Supreme Commander and Forged Alliance.
also my microphone volume was set on pretty low, sorry about that
This was a great video; feels like I learned more in one hour than I learned from decades of using Blender lol
honestly a pretty fun watch
So cool! I wish there were more quake mapping videos
watch on mute with 2x speed and e1m1 playing the back ground!
Just watching this makes me want a map editor for Doom that looks as easy as this. Doom mapping is accessible and easy to learn, but it can be kind of tedious and confusing to add details in Doom builder, since you have to keep switching between 2D and 3D modes. This looks much easier to do. I just wish you could do more in Doom builder’s 3D mode, like drawing linedefs and changing vertices.
Can I play this? Couldn't find this one on Quaddicted. :)
BTW: I'm trying to make a proper map myself but instead I find myself making a shit ton of little rooms ("MAP1, MAP1a, MAP2final, MAP2aFinalFinal, MAP3_Fuckme_1.2" etc), so it's very refreshing to see your process. Please share some more!
This map might be included in a future map pack or something. Maybe if I get more speed map layouts done that have no other place I could turn into a small episode.
@@HardcoreMazu Thanks, looking forward to it.
its a bit dark dont you think?
oh man oh man oh man, how do you do that magic you do at 11:27? when you create a simple cubic brush around a complex thing (well) and then - voila! you've selected the entire well?
ctrl + t (select touching) selects everything that your current brush is touching. It would've been just faster to double click it as it was already groupped as func_detail.
I KNEW THAT WAS SUPREME COMMANDER
Check out Prodeus' Map Editor, it's fire! It is the best easy to use but huuuge skill ceiling

🤠
It is just my enchanted amulet for ancient magic and witchcraft.
I switched from Winamp "Classic" 2.81 to Winamp 5.65 (with classic skin ofc) not that long ago. A classic never dies.
Wonderful job! Amazing to be able to see others at work.
What's the command used at 41:17? Thanks!
Creating diagonal brush between 2 walls? Select both faces and then hit ctrl + j to convex merge. It fills the space between faces selected with a new brush.
Where can i download it?)
