Hey Matt, I used to be a commercial engineer in a high rise and our lobbies were sound insulated with 1 inch thick fiberglass board insulation wrapped in open weave, not vinyl, fabric that were fiction fit in a rectangle of wood on the walls. Really kept the sound down in these confined and lower height spaces. Your could be held at the corners with just a piece of flat stock and not to expensive. I believe the fabric was attached to the back with either 9/16 T-50 staples or outward clinching staples from an insulation stapler from the same company. Low tech, cheap, and lightweight. You would get sound deadening and R 3 insulation value. Also the insulation doesn't burn and you get treat the fabric so it doesn't burn also, something you can soak it to get that. Same thing they use for theatre curtains. Hope that helps.

Matt, _usually_ factory setups will usually have the bigger fuel line on the feed side, and if that fuel tank bucket/pump assembly is from a mid/late 90's or so S10 or similar GM product (that style fuel pump bucket was mostly used in the late 90's, before that they had a steel cap with a hanger hanging in the tank) then the 3/8" should be the feed, 5/16" the return. The thing you run into is that any pressure on the return side of the regulator will increase the pressure on the front side which can mess with fueling, so on setups where a high-performance pump or similar work has been done, it makes sense to run the same size or even run a bigger one on the return.

From a Guy here in Colorado who did construction work in the Aspen Snowmass area for many years, here’s what you need. for winter time traction on your vehicles, get Blizzaks as they are outstanding in the snow. I never had to chain up once in my all-wheel-drive Astrovan with those tires. And I once was pushing snow over the bumper getting to a job on the mountain.
And I always carry a cordless impact wrench in my vehicle as it makes changing tires much easier and you seem to do that often, LOL. it can also speed up lowering the spare tire down, and even raising up a screw jack.
by the way, I’m just over the Utah border here in Grand Junction, now. And I binge watch your videos all the time as it’s fun to watch. Great channel. Glad to hear that Deral Eves got you going on this channel as it’s a great idea. Take care.
Kitty litter is another good thing to have with you. It’s great for traction, oil spills, etc.

Certified by who? ASE certification just means you can read a book and take a test. Back in the day all of us mechanics had to go through an Apprenticeship, usually 5-7 years before you were a “Qualified “ mechanic. The ASE program has created a false sense of security for the public thinking that anyone with an ASE certificate is a good mechanic. I’ve been a Mechanic for 44 years now and I’m still learning new things every day and I see these kids coming in with an ASE certificate and calling themselves a Journeyman mechanic. (Journeyman = 10+ years) our industry is in danger of losing its way, We need to get back to the apprenticeship programs for mechanics. In my humble opinion.

These snow cats use a planetary controlled differential .When one brake is applied , the planetary gears cause the drive sprockets to operate at different speeds. Pull the left steering lever and the left track will turn at a slower speed than the right , and the same for the right . This type of steering allows steering while maintaining power to both tracks , unlike a clutch - brake system . After the 1990's , almost all snow vehicles have hydrostatic steering . This of course allows infinitely variable radius turns , plus counter rotation of the tracks . Each track driven by it's own hydraulic pump and drive motor , and with that , a much more complicated , not to mention , a way more expensive system to maintain . Our Sherman tanks , used in WW 2 , used a controlled differential steering , and was found to be a simple , yet rugged solution , and simple to repair in the field .

One of my many dumb tricks was to try to make an air receiver tank from an empty propane bottle. I opened the valve to full and inverted it for 3 days in my well vented garage. Then I removed the valve and proceeded to light my oxy- acetylene torch to braze in the union I was going to use. As soon as I sparked the acetylene, there was a WOOOMPH !! and the whole garage floor was a blue flash. The heat went up both of my overall legs, and singed off every bit of hair on my body, chest, arms, legs and you know where... even my eyebrows and lashes went.
      Another lucky escape... 🙄🤣

That was quite an afternoon..... one of the husbands flagged us down around 2 pm and said they were stuck towards lava point. We were heading into the cabin on snowmobiles. I had been watching Matt's videos the day before at home and thought we can call Matt. When we called Winder towing they said Matt had the snowcat in tow and were heading to Brianhead so no luck. We flagged down a passing by truck with a local gent from Hurricane "Clay" and he was going to try to yank them out. It was so icy.... 3" of snow on 6" of solid ice. Clay's winch was smoking and trying to pull with the snowmobile was not very productive. Clay went back to the main road for cell reception and tried to find other to help. We headed back to the cabin to drop our supplies and make a plan to shuttle the families to a nearby warm cabin. To our surprise when we got back the headlights of the Bombi were coming down Lava Point Road and the families had the biggest smiles on their faces. So glad Matt decided to test out the snowcat on Kolob and not head to Brianhead. Great vids!
