Painting a model railroad backdrop - sky, clouds, and hills

  • Charlie Comstock, contributing editor at Model Railroad Hobbyist magazine, demonstrates how he paints backdrops on his Bear Creek & South Jackson HO scale model railroad. Charlie likes his clouds amorphous so he creates them using an airbrush. He keeps the hills simple - an outline of a distant ridge topped with trees mixed with clear cuts using latex house paint.

    Very cool video, really like the different layers you’ve made with the airbrush. Really adds depth to the perspective!

    Not certain about the points made but ,if anyone else needs to find out about model railroad layout try Stiklind Model Train Fixer ( search on google ) ? Ive heard some incredible things about it and my co-worker got excellent success with it.
