    Great technique Rob, love the simplicity and effectiveness of your method. Creates depth, movement, with those upward streaks, similar to what our eyes observe on a clear day with upward winds. Thanks 🙏 for sharing

    Great work. I have been experimenting with different methods. Your technique looks to be the best I have seen. Simple and very effective. I like your explanation of trying to achieve the impression of distance. Very good commentary throughout the video. The camera operator did a good job too! Thanks for sharing your skills.

    Just a quick comment on your presentation, and my use of your techniques. Although I had to use a 3 step process vs. your 2 step on my Sheetrock wall, I am thoroughly satisfied. Although I did do some 40+ years ago on canvas, this was my first foray into painting of any model RR backdrops. Thank you so much for your presentation. I plan to carry it further with background trees as well as some country/hill scenery, as I progress.

    Rob ! After many of failed attempts and many anxiety attacks I decided to give your technique a try. WOW ! Simple and absolutely believable ! Like you said in the vid....no need to try to simulate the bottoms because your eyes trick the brain into thinking it's already there. Incredible. BELIEVABLE, SIMPLE and best of all CHEAP ! Thank you.

    Looks like an excellent technique- i use the same board as base, similar (nor quite as good) technique, but I don’t bother with primer coats

    Very nice, I see what I'll do for my backdrop now. I do have one question, how do you manage to hide the seamas between the sheets of Masonite? and how do you attach the Masonite?

    I see what you mean about the eye playing tricks , seen you use the one color but as they fade away or the back side of a cloud is darker, very nice

    question for freight yards is it better to use sheet cork rather them strips of cork

    • @uprrgenevasubinhoscale5501
      @uprrgenevasubinhoscale5501  7 лет назад

      I think so. I kept the mainline elevated on top of the sheet cork with Midwest cork. But when I got into where all the switches are, I got everything to the same level so there was no drastic change in elevation between switches.
