The front bulkhead, along with the C and D block, and the rear ballstud mount, have all been changed from a borderline Pot Metal 50 grade aluminum, to a more substantial 60 grade. However, it is still not the 70 "aircraft grade" you would expect. Going to have to invest in the aftermarket for that, unfortunately. Also, the gear box changes are some minor changes to the internal cavity of the transmission case. It very minor, and i think it was done with the intent of managing the wall thickness in certain areas to facilitate reducing flex/warping in the transmission case halves while cooling after injection molding. I also believe they have changed their timing on the injection process to slow down cooling to tru and prevent the warping from the start as well. Which could account for the difference in feel. However, an xacto knife shave test on the sprew says its the same fiber reinforced material blend. Unfortunately, the big elephant in the room, the misaligned D Block Passthrough Holes on the back half of the transmission case...have not been aligned. The left hole (looking too down) is still 1-1.5mm further back than the one on the right. The D block being crooked, coupled with short hinge pins, and the C block Notch, in cheap 50 grade aluminum, all conspired for the perfect set of poor engineering to cause the hunge pins to follow the path of least resistance, and blownout. The reduced machining on the C Block will help, but until bthose D Block holes are fixed, it will always be a potential problem.
How can you see that it's a revised kit ?? you might buy one from a hobby shop but a kit that is allready in their stock for weeks... So how can you tell that you have a newer kit, is it mentioned, do associated say from that batchnumber it's a newer kit? Associated should give those parts for free for those who have the first B7 versions... and that you only have to pay the transport costs....
Totally understand your points… from my point of view I didn’t suffer with any issues in my first kit ,. So the updates are a bonus. I’d rather a running change than a new kit release like some other brands… I get you though!
I would love to know this also as I have just ordered one and even the shop didn't have a clue when I asked them. They did say it had only been in 'their' stock for a week before I ordered so who knows until I open it !?
I have a gen 1 car myself and not had many issues, just building my dad one from the new batch and agree with everything you have said, i am missing a few little screws and had a few parts machined wrong in this kit, threads not there ect
I’ve yet to have any problems with this or have seen anything at our clubs I 💯 sure idler problem is caused be mod motors with incorrect setup slippers
ae isnt in stock yet here in the states but when they do we are grabbing one for my daughter now. She built by sons, I cant wait to see if she notices the differences!
It's called a running change. And the majority of people had no issues with their day one kits. Myself included. There was nothing wrong with the first batch, they just made it better ;)
I agree with the other chap , I think they deserve praise because they have acted upon it quickly and made it a running change rather than waiting and releasing another new car like some.. out of all the B7s at my local club none had issues , but of course I know some did online.
So AE fixed some issues with the 2nd wave of shipmentns of the B7? Or are you showing the differences between B6.4 and B7?I wasnt aware they had made some changes between launch and the 2nd wave of shipments. Thats good to know since i just took delivery of my B7
I have an original release kit and the only issue I've had is a leaky diff. And i assume i over torqued and put a hairline crack or something. Shock tower cover has never popped off and I've never ripped out the rear pins. Is there an alignment issue with the gearbox case... yep... but never caused a problem for me and yes, I crash hard alot lol
Do you find the carbon steering block tolerances are too tight causing the bearings to drag. Ive had to go back to stock plastic, tried three packs of the carbon and tolerances were shocking on most
Informative video 👍 So the diff cover is now metal in the kit ? I know I had to buy the metal one separate for my b6 gear diff. personally, that’s why I’ve not bought a 2nd hand b7 with the issues the first batch had ( for some owners ) love my b6.4d on carpet, but I’m soooo tempted to get a b7 on order ! What springs are people running on carpet on the b7 ? Changed to blue rears / purple fronts on my b6.4d & its spot on id say for medium- high grip carpet
Thanks 🙏 yes metal in the kit :) I’d say it’s safe to say the new kit has addressed a few things with a few extras :) I actually really like kit B7 springs myself!
Hi I have received a B7 kit from cml on the 5th June. I have been waiting for over 3 months so hopefully it’s the latest kit being sent out. Relating to the three items you have identified as being different here are my observations Front shock cover in my kit is unchanged. Still the clip on type The diff cover has two lugs as you say but I don’t know what the initial kits had. If you buy a replacement metal item for the B6.4 it has the lugs. The gearbox plastic casting does not show any difference from my friends kit delivered in the initial batch. So either there are various versions of the kit now being sent out or 😟 who knows
The problem is associated has a much better following and social media and sell 1000 b7 s to one of the ld3 so naturally you are going to hear more about the problems. Every new car has teething problems.
@@benyoung4763it’s not about hearing, it’s about witnessing at my local club. Hearing on the internet is just proof that what I’ve witnessed isn’t circumstantial.

How about the idlers. Have seen others and had numerous fail myself.
The topshaft on our kits was pretty much ok, but have seen others aswell.

What about the underside of the diff case where it wasn’t aligned with the rear block
He didnt shows the important holes

That’s awesome! Be sure to report back your findings :) good luck!
Sean how did you get on with aluminium steering rack? Do you use blue washers under bearings?
I’ll need to double check , I think so!
@@SeanyRC Just found out them washers with the kit go in with bearings. I thought they were for ballstuds 🙈
The front shock tower is going to be different if comes with a shock tower cover that screws on right?
I actually got both in the kit.
Did you have to buy the new kit? I think associated should have given everyone updated parts at no cost
I did indeed , I didn’t actually suffer with the issues others had on my previous B7
X-ray has done that in the past. Sent out revised parts
@@LJoel for sure.. I’d rather have the updated parts then not at all
@@LJoelwe have lots of b7 at our club with no problems. the X-rays are braking more often from what I see
So they stealth revise parts and don’t do anything to fix the issues on kits people already own. Not sure why you think that’s deserving of praise.

Are the pins longer now?
Hi mate apparently the rear hinge pins were to short have they updated with the longer ones, and sorted out the hole alignment on the gear box, thanks
Thanks for bringing us all together on this 👍 the ones in my first batch kit measure 49.5mm. Has this been updated in the running changes?
@@durgadude1 I’ll measure shortly!

I saw the diff plate locating bits but didn’t know those weren’t there before
Main question is LD3 or the B7 for your go-to car???????
If push came to shove , B7!

The LD3 is a far better car.

Saw one break twice not the weekend though. Just like any car.

You should be fine now!
Any information on the b7.d kit? If it’s revised and when it will be available?
2 weeks! Jokes , no idea!
What about the idler gears? That is the biggest problem!
Building it up as we speak so I will compare..
What was the problem with them ?
How do I knew if its the v2 kit i buy any new item number?
No idea.. probably one of AE to answer 🙏
