How to Update the BIOS in an Asus Laptop

- In this video, I show you how to update the BIOS of an Asus laptop - specifically, the Asus VivoBook 15 model M515. However, the procedure will be the same for all recent Asus laptops. There are several methods to update the BIOS, but this tutorial will focus on a utility called EZ Flash 3 that resides in the BIOS itself. One major benefit in using this manual method is that it doesn't depend on a BIOS upgrade program running in Windows, so you don't need to worry about Windows compatibility nor do you even need to run Windows as your operating system.
BIOS updates can introduce new hardware support or more importantly, fix security problems such as the Meltdown and Spectre vulnerabilities. ASUS also recommends updating the BIOS for certain motherboards if you're looking for Windows 11 support. #ASUS #BIOSUpdate

@@accessrandom Is there a way for me to update the Bios of my F415EA laptop to the Bios of the X415EA? they have the same settings but the X415EA lets you insert memories with larger sizes such as 16GB, while the F415EA only allows you to insert memories up to 8GB.
It works, thanks; I could finally update the bios for my laptop (VivoBook S 15/D3502), because the BIOS update for Windows it doesn't work. Great video, very well explain it

6:00 you showed that all the available drives shows up when you are in the EZ flash utility, what to do if you do not see any drive, and FYI, if I back out of that menu, it closes the BIOS and boots into windows.

What should I do if none of the bios on the asus website are ezflash? I've downloaded my bios (bios 310 for my specific model), but it isn't ezflash and my boot menu doesn't recognize it as a bios
On my laptop it throws me straight to the ez flash utility. And it’s driving me crazy because it won’t update it just keeps restarting and throws me to the same setting over and over again. Any help

Have a query, my asus x55c does not have option Intel virtualization and processor b980 installed, if I upgrade to i3 or i5 vtx processor, how would the option come in bios or need to upgrade it too?
You may want to contact Asus support directly and explain your situation. The laptop would need to support the CPU upgrade, and the BIOS version would need to support that CPU.
My battery is dead and won't charge. I am in a catch 22 where I need to update bios to hopefully fix the battery but I can't because the battery has to work to get over 20%. :(

Right click wifi icon on the taskbar select troubleshoot ... wait for it to fix. *If that don't work* ... Uninstall the driver ... reboot ... then re-install ... *(make sure you have the right driver).* Stop using software that updates drivers and always get them at manufacturing website.
My Vivobook 15 X540NA is using Version 301, can I jump straight to Version 3.20.0001 for windows 8? It is not seeing the USB Flash in BIOS as an Boot device.
You may want to contact Asus support directly. There are so many models and bios combinations that they would probably be the best source for your question.
*Just a FYI* ... I have pretty much the same Bios utility (format) as in this video. But on the bottom of the laptop my model say GL503VM. I downloaded the bios for GL503VM (which is version 316) I have version 312. I got a failed flash and it rebooted. Man I been flashing bios for a long time and never had this problem. Anyway ... note when your in the bios and looking at the bios version there are aero sign in the bottom right corner. This means there's more information ... in my case it I needed the version for *GL503VMF* which is still 312. Man ... Years ago doing that I would have bricked it ...

What's the difference between the EZ Flash and windows update?
One can be applied directly from the BIOS, while the other automates it as a Windows executable. They both use the same bin file, but they are different delivery mechanisms.

Unfortunately, HP has locked down their BIOS pretty tightly so I don't think there's a way to access those settings.
Can anybody tell me that how to get this new interface of boot menu on Asus laptop ?????
Do you have an older laptop by any chance? If so, you probably have a legacy BIOS which has the older text-based screens (but should have an EZ Flash utility).

I'm afraid this will be highly dependent on the BIOS for your specific model.
And if my battery is dead, how do I update my bios?
The battery is used just in case there is a power outage. If you have unreliable power, you could try plugging into a UPS battery back-up.
