Your video gives me hope, I’m a confused student halfway through my third year getting a BS in psych, and I don’t really know what I need to do next. I really want to be successful but I’m so scared of loans, and possibly failing or no schools wanting me. I pray and hope I can make my dreams come true and become a doctor, and hopefully i can create a good work ethic. Right now I’m trying to get a stronger gpa, and then I want to figure out what steps to take after undergrad. Thanks for the vids man.

Thank you for your comment! I meant what I said in the video about it being okay. You’ll find a way if it’s what you truly want to do. And if it’s not want you want to do. That’s okay too. remember to just go at your own pace that makes sense for you. And recognize there is no measuring stick. It’s all made up. The ruler itself doesn’t even know the rules. 😊

Have you invested in a microphone? I had a really difficult time hearing you, and you are soft-spoken (as am I), so if you haven't, I highly recommend it. I'm not sure what you are filming with, but I currently use my iPhone 11 Pro Max to film, which has been great for my needs thus far. When I first started out, the main feedback I received was about the sound quality, and one of my viewers suggested the Boya mic (www.amazon.com/BOYA-Microphone-Smartphones-Interviewing-Livestreaming/dp/B078MMCPB7/ref=sr_1_36?crid=3YFMF4TD02RN&dchild=1&keywords=boya+microphone&qid=1615828879&sprefix=boya+micr%2Caps%2C241&sr=8-36), which is about $20 on Amazon right now. I broke my first one (stopped on it), and I ended up buying it again because I really liked it. If you happen to be filming on an iPhone, you will need one of those adapters to connect the mic to your phone, just in case you don't have one (www.amazon.com/Apple-Lightning-Headphone-Jack-Adapter/dp/B01LXJFMGF/ref=pd_bxgy_2/134-9984851-2256225?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B01LXJFMGF&pd_rd_r=20c1b7b7-b723-4099-9f03-42a7683c53fa&pd_rd_w=VXUCr&pd_rd_wg=mwgis&pf_rd_p=f325d01c-4658-4593-be83-3e12ca663f0e&pf_rd_r=ZX0JJPAAS8A4W04R459F&psc=1&refRID=ZX0JJPAAS8A4W04R459F). Obviously, you can use whatever fits with your needs, but I personally like the Boya. I hope this helps or at least points you in a good direction. :)

Hi 😊. So, I joined a counseling psych PsyD program for that exact reason 😂. You don’t conduct as much research as you might do in a PhD program. However, we are still required to do a dissertation. The program I’m part of emphasizes qualitative research rather than quantitative. So, there is less emphasis on crunching numbers and focuses more on human experience.

Good question 🤔. I probably would have worked in a group private practice setting. But you could work in many different areas with an MA/MSC. You could teach at the undergrad level, work at an agency seeing clients, nonprofits, behavioral centers and hospitals settings, sometimes UCCs, and private practice settings. What you do there depends on what setting you work in. You might be in charge of case notes, running groups, swing individuals cts, case management, etc.

I am working on my BA for psychology and soon about to graduate. I am also looking forward to PsyD programs but so worried about the debt, and also quick question in how many years do you start paying your college loan. It is usually after you graduate because it will be hard to work and do your PsyD at the same time and even if you work it will not cover anything.

To be honest it’s a bit expensive in my opinion. I think it’s mainly because it’s a private university though. It also depends on your circumstances and financial situation. There is always loans, financial aid, and opportunities for scholarships.
To give you an idea of what I pay: I pay around 8,500 per semester (that’s with aid/with no loans). Again this will very. You can also do payment plans.

You actually do NOT need a masters degree. If your undergrad GPA was strong, along with good gre scores, and experience, you can apply straight to a clinical psy.d and phd program. The only time you should consider a master’s degree first, is if your undergrad grades sucked. Otherwise, you are wasting your time and money.
