Inside Avdiivka: What it’s like defending a frontline city from Russian attacks

- Avdiivka. In October, Russia launched a massive offensive on this city in the region of Donetsk. The goal: to regain momentum in a war that has been stagnating for months. But the price is high. Ukraine is defending the city fiercly. According to US intelligence, Russia has already lost more than 13000 personnel along the Avdiivka-Novopavlivka axis. We travelled to the outskirts to hear first hand from Ukrainian Special Forces how the battle for Avdiivka is unfolding.

Good update from Avdiivka. It would be good for Americans to remember the challenges to our fortunes in the Revolutionary War, and to recall how we were written off by the smart money against the legitimate Goliath power of the British Empire..... and how we only succeeded by our own fortitude and creativity (introducing snipers, the grooved Kentucky Long Rifle, the expanding bullet - and a strategy of accuracy over volume - and submarines). And, by the generosity of the French and Spanish. The parallels of the efforts of the Ukrainians to the Revolutionary Americans are surprisingly resonant.
An uncommon comparison but rather apt for the points you mention. Some other similarities: We (I'm American by birth) were also fighting on our own turf for our own freedom, the British soldiers were in a distant land fighting for politics and the King. And we also had to contend with British loyalists and sympathizers in our ranks.
Sadly, Ukraini does not have a large ocean between them and their enemy but at least their allies are right next door as well.

Any other service members raise an eyebrow when they started interviewing the “SOF Operator?” The dude is supposed to be relatively close to the front lines but his plate carrier only has magazine pouches? No other pouches on it… no IFAK, no radio pouches, no admin pouches. Just magazine pouches…

To be a good soldier, a person had to have a good length of training time. 6months to one year, I think. To be excellence, a lot longer than that coupled with advanced equipment and mental ability

Because Russia invaded a sovereign nation. Even though Putin promised world leaders amd the UN and signed treaties saying he wouldn't.
It looks like that Americans and European allies didn't pay attention in history classes. The events tend to repeat. Russia was terrible in the summer of 1941, when Barbarossa was launched. However, by winter of 42', the Red Army recuperated itself and since than was on offensive.
btw, Russian resources in military equipment and men power seems limitless indeed.

When the enemy has been given a deadline and the resources becoming more second rate, just like Hitler's last gasps attempting supposedly overwhelming surprise attacks, the enemy can appear to be suddenly stronger and more frightening as they throw their reserves into concentrated attacks. When Ukraine learned their offensive was not gaining the expected ground they became more reserved and as a result, they are still in the fight now. Russia has proven themselves a paper tiger from the first days. They have a lot of paper and yellow ink but it's still paper.

Russia ranked in top 5? US toppled Iraq military (one of Middle East largest in like 2 weeks?) Fighting an insurgency is alot different than going head 2 head with another military, and russia hasn't done that well going against another military

There is a little missunderstanding in this video. Battle of Avdievka started in 2014. Since 2014 Avdievka is a frontline city wich was first proteced from Donbas separatists traitors and now since 2022 against whole ruzzkie army. In this speed Russia will reach Kiev in 41 years and Lisbon ( as Putin promissed) in 876 years.

It has been observed that unlike Ukraine, Russia has many Ukranian prisoners of war, but it does not parade them before the cameras.

Every RUclips channel describing this war has its own audience.
But for me I see two post cold war devils beating each other using innocent Ukrainian and Russian people.
Russia the one who invaded because "nasis" and "gay people" is the one that is innocent! Ukraine has a democratically elected government, a parliament, and freedom of information. Russia has a tyrant that overturned his own countries constitution to remain in power for over a quarter of a century, kills political opponents, has no freedom of speech, assembly, or information... I think I'll stick with what will be supporting the right side of history.
