I thought you seemed too exotic to be English. Thanks for mentioning your ancestry. From what I know of Greek food, I could easily be a vegetarian in Greece, (much of the Mediterranean actually). They know the mastery of preparing vegetables dishes. I'd still supplement with fish though, perhaps once a week.
Ah! Another stunning video to hit a home run on all of a person senses! I love you Kylie. Wow! This is going to be fun rey! Looking forward to seeing your skirt finished also...
Merci beaucoup pour cette jolie recette de vacances que nous partagerons en famille! 😄😘
Grazie molto Kylie! 🥬🥧😋
Beautiful recepie and video! The only place that competes with Italy for my heart is indeed the Greek coast and islands. Thankyou fir emboldening me to brave making philo from scratch, it's not even close to the reasonable weather for this harvest in Scandinavia but I will definately cook this when summer arrives. Can't wait!
Eucharistó Kylie. ♥️🙏

As a fellow greek, you brought me back to a time that I hold dear to my heart. I could smell and taste everything. I cried and smiled through it all! Kylie, you touch everyone in such endearing ways, whether with food, decorations, restorations or just a conversation from the heart. Your talents are something beyond what a simple lens from a camera can capture. Imagine...all these emotions by making a hortopita! haha You're definitely a unique and beautiful soul to say the least! 💙
As a greek myself, this was such a touching video to watch from my favourite person on the internet!
Sending lots of love to you and your loved ones Kylie! ❤️
💙💙💙💙💙 Thank you!

Same here.....as a Greek I was moved with Kylie's delicate and sensitive approach to her Greek heritage. Love and respect from the USA...filakia
As a Greek Aussie myself, I couldn’t agree more 😊thank you Kylie for your beautiful videos as always 🙏Toulla
Good for you. You made your own filo and mountain greens. Like my grandma. I miss her cooking.
How lovely that you are from a Greek origin!!
Your grandmother can be very proud of you because everything you do, you do it beautifully!!
Bravo Kylie, as a Greek I salute you. I'm a mom and housewife and have never made phyllo myself. I always buy the ready one from the supermarket which is fine but a homemade phyllo is delicious but I never have the time or patience to make it myself. Therefore I salute you, your pita is fantastic. Kudos to your grandma for teaching you.
Kylie, my mom came from Gioia Del Colle,Body, and when I was a little girl, she would pull the dandelion weeds and always be cooking greens with olive oil and garlic salt and lemon. She would always tell me if I eat these greens and vegetables that I would always have clear skin and no acne problems , and I didn’t have acne problems. Watching you make this creation, this lovely pie lovingly and old fashion style, reminds me of my mom cooking in the kitchen and watching her cook. I love that you are replicating all your recipes the old fashion way, but more importantly from your grandmother! I went through that same thing… wanting to preserve the old fashion recipes and reminders of my youth, watching my mom cook in the kitchen, just like you do!! Great cinematography as always! Painstaking details that are just gorgeous, plus you are gorgeous!
Bravo!!!!!!You transferred the Greek spirit in your cooking. Thanks and kisses from Athens
This was a happy video. I especially liked the ending of you and Guido dancing together by yourselves. Thank you so very much.
Oh Kylie, you did transport me to Greece! Thank you.
Thank-you Kylie! 🦋You are a treasure! 🦋This channel is spectacular! 💙🦋💙
Ciao Kylie, sei bravissima. Un altro modo che usiamo in Grecia per dare alle nostre pite quel bel colore è di sbattere un tuorlo con un cucchiaino d'acqua e poi spennellare la pita prima di infornarla.. Un bacio d' Atene!!
I swear, I have teared watching this ❤️ big Love from a Philhellene
We always loved you ❤ but now that we know that you are also Greek, we love you a little bit more!! I ve been following you the past 2 years and it s such a lovely surprise to find out that you have greek roots! Love from Athens!!!!💗💗💞That's my first comment!!🌹
Kylie - once again perfection! Could NEVER make this but you make it look so easy. The best part is the dancing at the end, so lovely………..🤗🇨🇦
I just love your videos so much! They are so beautiful and peaceful. Thank you for sharing your passion and work with us. Sending you love and light. This dish looks so delicious and makes me want to travel back to Greece and Italy.
As a Greek girl with a Yiayia that made a version of this: I LOVED THIS !!!! Sitting here with my sister who came from 2 states away- watching- oohing & aaahing !!!! Sending this to my niece who adores you !!!! We love you, Kylie!!!!!!
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
What a Delightful Film Kylie..... I was smiling from the very start to the very end.... Thank you....... :-) xx
Unique Kylie!! Greek tourist organization should pay you for this wonderful advertisement of my beautiful country!
Thank you for all your amazing work we enjoy every week!
All the best to you and your loved ones, kalimera from Athens 🤗
I was so looking forward to seeing Guido devour this! I’m sure he loved it. I know I would! It looks amazing and I love that you put so much passion into the dishes you prepare. You not only have a marvelous gift of cinematography, but expert culinary skills. Bravissimo! 🇮🇹♥️
I was waiting for Guido's reaction too!!!
I m Greek, I live in Greece my whole life and yet only recently I begun making hortopita and spanakopita with homemade fyllo. Congratulations!
Hi Kylie, Spring dandelion “weeds” that most Americans kill with pesticides are a superfood that pioneers crossing unexplored area of the USA flourished on after a winter with zero fresh veggies and greens. I love them! All the best, Julie 🌷
Yes, very true, I make dandelion salad to eat alongside pasta dishes, as a bitter contrast. I just add lemon, oil, salt and mix and remove chunks of garlic before eating. I absolutely love it. It is high in magnesium and has analgesic qualities, helps me sleep like a baby.
@@TenTenJ I never have used PESTICIDES or anything not organic in my yard ever. Because off my honey bees 🐝
I have to steal their honey at least every 4 years
@@Cenepk101 that sounds amazing!
I used dandelion leaves in curry and pasta dishes to replace spinach at times, and when spinach is in short supply, as the dishes stand there is no difference in the taste and very economical.
Kylie! Thank you so much for this video. As a greek person I can tell you that Hortopita and Spanakopita are two of the most common pies served here and anyone can tell you that they have grown up eating this dish. Personally it brings me back so many memories of my grandparents, especially my grandpa who used to always bring me a piece of my grandma's homemade pie whenever I yould see him. Thank you for the memories your beautiful video brought to my mind.
This is wonderful- you’re authentic ευχαριστώ - that’s sooo yum- the best 🥰
Kylie the scenery in this vlog was absolutely stunning, omg the color of the water ...........the recipe looks wonderful...... l could smell it through my IPAD screen.........have a wonderful week.............Donna in Toronto
So much beauty and care in everything that you do.
My Sicilian grandmother made a greens pie very much like this, was never able to find any recipe for it, but so similar! She added anchovies under the top crust that was more of a bread dough. Those bitter greens make your mouth water, beautiful!
I loved watching. My mouth was watering as I watched you take a bite. ❤ until next time .
Kylie, would you ever consider doing a video on your style and where you shop?! Or more day in the life? Beautiful work, I’m a new fan 💕
Your beautiful cinematographic presentation plays such an important role in all your vlogs! Thank you!
Cooking and baking delicious homemade wholesome food, and sharing it with the people you love, is the most satisfying thing in the world. 💕🙏
Agreed!
Thank you for sharing so beautiful moments from our country
It was such a pleasant surprise hearing greek music and watching my favourite comfort food!!! You were opening the phyllo pastry with so much love....your grandmother would be so pround of you!!!Kisses and love from Thessaloniki ,Greece!!
Kylie in Greece we use a long an thinner stick to make the fylo. You should try it it is easier and quicker. Great job though as always. I admire you so much 😍
I love the incorporation of the videos of your youth and Greece and where you've traveled and the differences between then and now and your beauty and has evolved it's all gorgeous very nice Love the video truly
Kalimera Kylie.. just woke up watching this in bed before I get dressed to go to work and now craving xortopita.. Thankfully I'm in Greece so easy to find some in the local bakery( not as lovely as yours though) So I guess its going to be xoryopita for breakfast 😊
Thank you for your lovely videos!
Ciao Kylie, A trick my mother taught me with thin pastry is to dampen the linen towel and keep the pastry covered till you use that piece! It has always worked for me ! I will be making this recipie this weekend and I know I will be transported back to Greece !!
Your recipes look delicious, and your approach to cooking is delightful. Wholehearted, knowledgeable, making everything from scratch. You're inspiring...Your baby is lucky to have a mom who will make delicious things from scratch. Thank you for all and congratulations on the birth.
Gorgeous video, storytelling and pie! ΜΠΡΑΒΟ!!
Just a beautiful escape every time you post and create 🥰 thank you Kylie
New subscriber here (this video popped up on my recommended) who happens to be half Greek. As a first generation American I’m working hard to keep as much tradition going in my family as possible from both sides of my family and that includes a HUGE emphasis on food. Can’t wait to see more!
Oh my, not only mouth-watering but a work of art as well!
This dish looks so amazing! I love spanikopita so I need to make this! I loved the music and the scenery. Greece is a place I have on my list to visit one day. I love hearing your sweet stories about your grandmother and cooking, how special!
Kylie you're a treasure! As Greek myself, I have to tell your hortopita is great!!
This looks so delicious! Last year we went to Croatia and had Burek, my daughter loved it so much. She comes home next week for a break from college and im going to surprise her with this. She loves vegetables and requests your immunity soup all the time. I bet I’ll be making that as well.
How lovely. This reminds me of our mother always asking us what homecoming meal we’d like when we come home from study or work or living abroad. Food creates such intimate rituals.
I always make my son’s favorite meal when he comes to visit - it is a wonderful tradition and means so much to us.
you and me Kylie we have many common things. I am Cypriot Greek and we share the same love for Italy. love your videos you always give me a sense of peace .
Oh my goodness, I lived in Greece for a couple of years and loved Horta, omg this was a trip down memory lane for me. One of the homes I used to teach English in, used to serve me Boiled Horta with lashings of lemon juice, served with fresh fish and fried potato Yummy. My favourite Greek Lunch for sure. Your pie looked exactly like the one the children's Yaya used to make xxxxx
So then you really understand what I mean when I say I love greens! 🥰🌿💙
NE England here; for many years i have eaten herbs and weeds from the garden in salads etc. because of their wonderful health benefits. " Waste not want not" was how i was brought up! This looks right up my street Kylie! 💜🌻🥳🍀☘🌿
Indeed! That was a saying my family repeated every day in our house.
You are a wonderful woman. Well done on the pie xxx
Wow, yum! Loved the ending with the two love birds dancing. 😍
Kylie, thank you so much!!!!Absolutely divine!!!! 🥰🥰🥰
Nice recipe and so fitting video kylie
I especially enjoyed the dance ending as that is a very nice way to end a meal..
One. The nostalgia is hitting home with that music. I loved Greece and wish I could go and live there.
That pie looks so yummy. Thank you for sharing it.
You make greens "sound" delicious❗ 😋 🤫😃
I cannot wait to make this with my garden greens and herbs this summer! Thank you
You make my day so happy , the perfect video and music .Kylie thanks for everything ....
KYLIE, AGAPE MOU! That was such a surprise! Woke up, grey and cold out, turned over, grabbed the tablet and you brought the sunshine and the nostalgia in all at once! So wonderful of you to share the recipe, the wonderful memories and the lovely picture of your elegant grandmother! With the state of the world today it made me cry. That generation was strong and we shall also have to be. Thank you for sharing. Beautiful video!
So happy it moved you. Yes, when I feel dismayed by all the news of the week I always turn to traditional cooking to calm my thoughts.
@@KylieFlavell BTW, adding the ricotta was genius! And the analogy of horta to the fyllo is indeed hearty! And the song captures your love of family and describes the love you share with Guido. Wish everyone could understand the words. Glad you visited Kythera (from what I could discern). Everything you make is full of wonderfulness! Thank you for responding. Sending you all my love.
This looks so delicious 😋. The love and care that you put into all of your cooking is so heartwarming. My 22 month old grandson loves to be in the kitchen with me. Who knows, maybe he will make people smile someday just like you do. Cheers to all the Nonnas (Grandmas, YaYas, Omas, etc) out there inspiring their grandchildren! Thank you again for 17 minutes of joy. ✌🏻♥️🥬
I loved this one so much ❤️! You can tell your grandmother is absolutely beautiful inside and out.
I’ve never been confident enough to make phyllo from scratch! Thanks for making it look so approachable!!
I so loved seeing the summer footage since I’m freezing my buns off here in southern Greece at the moment! ❄️ Thank you for another beautiful video!
You provide happiness...thank you!!
What a beautiful presentation. I grow many of these herbs and greens in my garden. Will attempt this completely plant based.
As a Greek Italian I loved this video. I have tried most of your recipes so far and they are amazing! Thank you so much for sharing Kylie! I will definitely make your grandmother's recipe one of these days!
Greek Italian you got the best of both worlds!|
Watched and loved! Can’t wait to try this. I too grew up loving vegetables. As a child I’d save up money to buy myself an artichoke as a treat rather then candy lol.
Thank you! Artichokes are incredible!
Love this recipe. Your filming and music choices are magnificent as well. Thanks for sharing 😍😘
As i watch you soak up the sun. I'm watching the snow fall from my window. I'm so jealous. I want to be soaking up the warm sun too. ❤ from Pennsylvania!!!! Your dish looked delicious... 😊
O my goodness! I’m soooo hungry now!
I loved it! I make my coffee in my moto with foamed milk on top, settle on my sofa and enjoy immensely your videos every Sunday morning. I so look forward to Sundays and your video. grazie mille, xx Gianna BTW I always share your cooking videos with my Sister since she loves to cook and is so much more talented and patient. My daughter cooked today tsouknida( nettle) soup with a little quantity of potatoes and spinach. I had it smashed and added a lot of lemon! Really tasty and healthy

Beautiful… thank you for sharing your childhood recipes with us all. 🥰
I have tried torta di erba in Corsica made with swiss chard and brocciu (ewe cheese) with many wild herbs from the surrounding fragrant hills. Your hortopita reminds me of it. Your video is a beautiful respite from the awful news in the world around us. Grazie.
‘Tis a thing of beauty, Kylie. The colors at the beginning...makes me think of...
As a northern Canadian lover of gardening and cooking … watching spring in Italy is painfully beautiful . Thank you Kylie … I need some comfort food :) and I love Greek ! My mother was from Australia too :)
Your grandmother was as beautiful as you are for sure!! Using the footage from Greece was a fabulous idea, embellished the video a lot! I adore Greece but haven’t been there yet, cannot wait to get there one day! As always Kylie you impressed me with cinematography and your power to create art even out of thin air! Well done! ❤️🤗
Sounds Delicious ! Thanks !
Such a Combination of flavors ! Interesting !
My fave things in a market are veggies and herbs. So envious of those beautiful fresh herbs. They are all medicinal as well. Stay well, Kylie. , Charleen from Arizona.

I am so thrilled that you shared your grandmother’s receipe for hortopita. I am also so very thrilled to know you are Greek! I too am Greek and I was born in Velvendo, Kozani. My mom made so many pites ; all delicious! My favourite was prasopita; made with leeks. Have you ever had that one?
That looks ridiculously good. Your culinary expertise always amazes me. Love from Canada.
