I'm staying at the Grand Hyatt this week. Everything was extremely low-key yesterday; nobody said a word, but when I came back to the hotel at ~ 8:30pm, there was a lot of police and media in the hotel. Nobody asked for any identification or anything. Very sad; I feel sorry for the staff who discovered the bodies. Also, the way this was all made public with names and images posted online immediately even before the next-of-kin was able to be informed is absolutely disgusting.

If 5 victims matched guests who checked in and 1 doesn’t that leaves 2 guests who checked in unaccounted for. Since I am sure all guests have to show passport shouldn’t there currently be photos everywhere of the 2 other guests who will at least be wanted for questioning??
I'm sure the investigators will be looking out for that information and for the clues. Seems to me they've been fairly efficient and sensible so far in this case so kudos to the Thai police. Also should verify if unaccounted guests were really there at the check in time. If they weren't and they joined the party afterwards, they wouldn't necessarily have their identity checked by the hotel since they are simply guests.
The unknown person who didn't check-in and died could be their visitor. The other two check-in guests had disappeared so the police were investigating and probably looking for them.
Wow, sounds confusing. We should take all information regarding the identities cautiously for now, because the start of an investigation is when accurate data is the least likely to appear (not aimed at the Thai police specifically, it's true of any country). All we can do is to offer our sincere condolences to the families and friends of those who passed. Time should give the full answers to this tragic mystery. 💔

seems there are many people that don't listen and don't comprehend very well the report said they ordered room service on monday, after 1pm, and they were due to check out on tuesday...noon is normally the latest checkout time, to give housekeeping a chance to clean the room...that is when they found them, after noon on tuesday either by housekeeping staff, or reception checking why they had not vacated
so the journo on site says checkout was supposed to be tuesday (1min 50sec) but the desk jockey contradicts by saying monday (20sec mark)...I'd go with the journo on-site

According to the news I watched yesterday, he had to go see the incident because this is a big deal, it could effect the relationship between the two countries, he said on the interview that he came to see and contact Vietnam government right away! Only a few channels reported the hotel's name as most channel feared for a lawsuit. But as more and more footage of the hotel's lobby shown more channels just spilled the name as most Thai viewers knew the place by that point.
Thai news are cowards and afraid of the country's strict defamation laws. They have also buried this case, not making it the main page header today, no doubt by instruction of the PM to avoid damage to tourism.
I have to say whilst the case itself is very mysterious the details being given, are in stark contrast, surprisingly, open and honest. Never expected so much detail to be given to the media by the Thai authorities that in itself is pretty bizarre too. 🤔

WE NEED INTERNATIONAL HELP. I'm a random student of Bangladesh. The govt. here is doing a quota system where in job there's 56% reserved seats, for freedom fighters children, women, disabled, area based and ethnic minorities. We don't want that. We students are doing protests for it. The protest is happening all over the country against this discrimination. Not only that, in job sectors the questions also get sold to wealthy people, the corruption is happening so randomly.
