Your room has inspired me to rearrange my own room & create a 'new' enviorment for creativity. I know there's limited room, but would love to see a room tour, to get an idea of possibilities for my own place. Thank you, Take care. AJ.
aug71 Haha, nice to hear you're inspired! I always wanted to make a studio/room tour video, but never ended up doing it. Maybe soon! Peace and good luck with your room ;)
Love the sp1200 i think it is and the AKAI mpc1000 is it ?------also some monumental albums on the wall-----love the design and energy of the record bookshelf -- inspiring vibes
Dope video. More of these, you should also consider doing more videos about the process of mixing your beats etc. I'm pretty new to making beats, and only have a fairly basic understanding of eq'ing and layering. Would be nice to see your perspective / approach.
If you go for a roulette stuff, don't sweat the technique and go for a pile of vinyls of any genre. Deodato 's 1st song is sick. I would sample that...
when you chop samples, do you divide them by bars or do you use 1 large piece that covers 8 bars or more ? By the way... your videos are very inspiring.,
Thank you! It depends, I have multiple ways to chop. When there are drums in the sample, I like to chop it up to the rhythm. I never use pieces that are longer then 1 bar, and even that is very long for me. When there aren't drums in the sample, I chop by sounds and not rhythm. It's hard to explain, but I will make videos about this in the future since I get asked questions like this a lot. Peace!
@@MAARTN hmmm nice. I asked, because I struggle sometimes with music samples. They're never get on the grid. It's like they go out sync as they go by. I believe chop in pieces could solve my problem, but as you said it depends. Haha. Thank you a lot make. I hope you make a video about your sampling process. Peace!
That's why you should always check your records before you buy them from a thrift store or a record shop that sells used records. I made that mistake a couple of times.
@@MAARTN oh yeah I forgot you did that. Here's something funny, years ago I went to a thrift store and bought a Smokey Robinson album, took the album home and it was a Tom Jones album in a Smokey Robinson cover. Man I was super pissed but I couldn't take it back. So I just stuck with it. That's what I get for not checking it. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@chrishinnant3924 haha, that sucks indeed! I had a similar thing once with an Earth Wind & Fire record. It didn't even have the record, just the cover and the inner sleeve 😂 from that moment I also check it everytime, even if it's a record for 50cents. Peace!
Caio Graco Moura Salles de Castro I always hit "Set-up, 23, 12" to clear the memory from bank 4. But to delete the stock sounds from bank 1 to 3, I haven't figured that out yet. Don't think it's possible to delete them. If you sample with the s950, I just put the stock sound on the SP to ouput 8 because I never use that output. That way you can use your s950 without hearing the triggerd sounds from the sp on bank 1. If you understand what I mean, because it's difficult explaining here :p
Caio Graco Moura Salles de Castro Also I think only bank 4 is ment for samples, because you have so little sample time on the sp12. You can choose between pad 1 to 8 to where you want your sampled sound if you press 2 in the sample menu.
but i think the sp doest time stretch the samples so if you change the pitch the tempo of the sample will change also ! then how do you make them all sit together ?
Hi Maartn, how are you? A lot of respect for your work. Help me in one thing when I can please. I have a 2000xl and when I do the beats first and then I cut the samples they go over the beats either if it's on bank 1 or bank 2. please Give a helping hand. Thanks for listening.
I did, but only for the drums. I didn't want to use it for other sounds, because it would be too much for this beat, I think. Too much of the good stuff can sound bad sometimes lol. Peace!
Just the drums for this one, first into the 3000 and then trough the SP. The samples went directly to the XL this time. First time since years haha Peace!
El Morto Beats Hip Hop Beats Haha, I don't think you suck at beats, I'm just a person who is never certain about the things I make. I always feel like I can do better, and a lot of videos/beats never see the daylight because of that lol. Thanks 4 the comment! Pz
The beat was ready months before, I just had it sitting on my MPC and listened to it again months later. Then I just recorded the tracks in the computer and put some eq's on them, that's it. But I know what you mean, this is just a video for fun, so I don't take it that strict. Peace yo
maartn is so good at chopping samples he used three vinyls to create a new beat, a new girlfriend, and a new house
😂😂

I usually do that, but these were the records I blindly picked so I couldn't really change them afterwards or it would be kinda cheating.
Peace!

hello, if possible could you tell me how to delete the drum memory from SP12?
What is needed to use the four sample banks?
Thank you.

Thanks for the reply, using the s950 I got it the way you said it, but I thought it was possible to use the other banks.
thank you.
good job dope
when that first massada song played 😭😭🔥
what was the yellow record?????
3 WAY CUSTOMS You mean with the drumbreak on it? That's called "Rufus Thomas - The Breakdown pt. 2". Peace!
Lekker bezig Ouwe !
Diode u is dope.
so epiiiiiiic ! but i wonder how you get these samples from diffrent jeys to work together ???????
jay2392 changing pitch by tempo or transposing
Like Shkarter said, just change the pitch until you hear the sounds fit eachother. Peace!
but i think the sp doest time stretch the samples so if you change the pitch the tempo of the sample will change also ! then how do you make them all sit together ?
good

Casually moves house mid video
someone has to
I like u. Roc on.
The samples need to decide the style instead of finding samples that fit 100% to a producer's style.
What, that’s not how the RR works! You can’t come back months later, FOH! Any one can take months to make one beat dope.
The beat was ready months before, I just had it sitting on my MPC and listened to it again months later. Then I just recorded the tracks in the computer and put some eq's on them, that's it. But I know what you mean, this is just a video for fun, so I don't take it that strict. Peace yo
Maartn is big enough to do it
Nice
