  • Hi Everyone
Different kind of video for today.
During my career, i had the chance to review quite few demo reel, it was part of my job as a supervisor and sometime i still do that.
I notice that many animators do the same mistake over and over, and those mistakes reduce drastically their chance to get a job in the animation industry
So i decide to do this video, share with you my opinion and hopefully this will help you to prepare a better reel
    good luck to everyone

Very much appreciated Alessandro! My tip would be, don't focus to much on getting in the big studios. There is nothing wrong with doing great work in a smaller studio and gaining some more experience. In the end this might lead to 'bigger' things.

@@acamporota Hey, Mr. Alessandro Camporota Good to see you back! Thanks so much for your insights - I appreciate you taking the time to share these very useful tips! I messaged you a long time ago on LinkedIn :) haha you seemed quite busy I've haven't heard from you but it's all good. you are such a busy and productive animator
I know I’m too much kept bugging you shooting questions. But this one should be added also I thought Animator RUclipsrs like you have really done a lot for us teaching and giving insight, tips and tricks really really mine. I really appreciate your time and effort guys
Here is the tricky question, we as freshers are getting informed and doing a lot of practice on a daily basis just to break into the industry. After getting turned down but constantly applying we go like finally! the bell is ringing in our mind like yeah baby here we come! Then asides from all principles, cool rigs, Disney, school rigs and everything. When we are given an animation test from studios especially in Europe and Asia (wouldn’t want to mention the name of each studios) Our mind is like in Alice’s Wonderland like all those useful information, tips and tricks yeah keep boosting our work by pushing more but when we come across the rigs given for the test We go as freshers especially in the game industry we are like damn is it an Alien thing ? that’s as if we have never seen such a thing in our life before why do these studios give freshers weird, broken rigs purposely for the animation tests even some expect you to rig the character And the truth end our blissful dreams
What would you suggest us to do in this case, that’s where we go mentally get scared shitless, and trying to figure out what we are supposed to do with it in a week then we can barely animate it and doing okay work not that impressive in short a span of time. And the reality doesn’t match with our blueprint sometimes, of course, we move on and try our chances more and more But as you guys have been there What do you recommend that we do in this case?

Watching progression reels are huge way to improve because you basily look at how pro animators go about animating and you start to see why you are different and not standing out I am still a student but I believe they help alot

One of my worst habbits is jumping right into the shot without doing much pre pro. As much as i'd like that to work perfectly, it doesnt. I realized that reference is verrrrry important for picking up on body mecanics, especially for begginers such as myself.

hey Alessandro, how do you think, is the blender perspective to get a job in the game industry as a game animator? previously I animated in 3ds Max and decided to learn animation in a blender, for me it seems a pretty powerful and perspective tool, very curious what is your opinion inside the industry about it?
