Extreme Acceleration | My first soap on a stick | Rebatching Soap?

- I know it's hard to believe as long as I've been soaping I've never had a 'soap on a stick'
But it finally happened! I am usually very good at reading reviews and notes from sellers on if a fragrance accelerates.
BUT in my defense I had used this fragrance in the past and it was perfect. When I re purchased it I didn't think to check the notes. 🤣
I posted a video on my Instagram showing the soap acceleration and received a lot of questions so I thought I would post the most frequently asked ones here 🥰
1. What was the fragrance oil?
It was Japanese Cherry Blossom from Wholesale Supplies Plus
2. You should soap at room temperature.
I did. Both lye water and oils were room temperature. I don't think even stirring in the fragrance would have helped this one. 😳
This was my first time Rebatching a soap so I am no professional, please do research and watch a lot of videos on it. 😁

It’s lovely to be able to see the face behind the hands. When I get soap on a stick, I usually add a bit of water and put it in the microwave. It gets the rebatching done within a few minutes.
What a great idea!
I too enjoyed seeing your face. What an awesome save and very pretty soap ❤️
Wow finally I see your face, you're beautiful looks like my little cousin, thanks 😊 🙏🏼
Great idea :) xo!
Waaaiitt did you say microwave 😳 is it easier
Oh my goodness! Your struggle was felt deep here. But that finished bar... is absolutely stunning! If I hadn't watched the video I wouldn't have known the design wasn't deliberate. Gives off a jade stone or a unfinished turquoise stone vibe! So happy this worked out for you.
I've been watching soap videos for several years and I've never seen soap seize up that fast before. Crazy! Nice save
Seeing soap accelerate is crazy! Especially in person. I experimented my first year using 15% shea butter and the instant we started mixing the fragrance in with that batch of oils it seized instantly. Looked like dried up peanut butter in the end but was a nice batch of soap lol
This may not have gone how you’d originally planned it, but Ingrid this is so stinking pretty !! I love the way this soap looks !! The teal reminds me of sea glass ! Very very awesome save ! 🥰
I agree! The unintentional marbling adds another cool dimension to this beautiful soap.
I agree - it looks like sea glass.
Nice to see you on camera. Thanks for showing that things sometimes don't go as planned. Looks like a hot process soap, which I like. You did make it look so pretty in the end. :)
It’s so nice to see an experienced soaper have one of those days too. Gives hope for the rest of us. Wonderful save and it’s so lovely too! Would love to see you more on camera too! :D
AGREED!!!
Love the face at 1:53! And nice to see even the most experienced soapers sometimes get a mischief batch!
I can’t count how many soap making videos I’ve watch, but that has to be the fastest acceleration I’ve ever seen. Glad you were able to save it and I think the bar turned out beautiful, loving the texture.
I loved that I got to see your face! You’re an extremely talented soap maker. I’ve had soap on a stick too and I know tears and frustration all to well as well. The finished soap turned out absolutely beautiful! Great job and it was awesome that you stuck with it.
those cherry blossoms look so pretty against the blue, i'm so glad you were able to save this batch because that's such a gorgeous color combination
What a SAVE!!!😳, You are my SHE-RO!!!!!! It looks amazing. And it was so nice to finally see the beautiful and talented Ms. Ophelia.
Awesome recovery! You made a beautiful soap out of a real struggle! Great job!
The color is extraordinarily nice, so, was the color before the fragrance. You are a champ for perservering
As someone who doesnt have alot of experience with cp soap im really glad that you did show the whole process of saving your batch. It was definitely a way to learn what to do if it happens not to plan. BTW that soap is GORGEOUS
This is the thing I LOVE about soap!
It doesn’t need to go to waste. Not ever. You can always do something with it. And it will still be lovely soap to use
Thank you so much ☺️
Wow. It turned out great. However, I'm so excited about finally seeing you! I love all your videos.
Awesome save. Awesome save. And a good looking soap too.
WOW, I can’t believe you saved this one! It looks beautiful! We all remember our soap on a stick moments; mine went directly to the trash. Yours is IMPRESSIVE ⭐️🥳
Mine too! 15lbs! I almost cried. Don't think I made soap the rest of that week afterwards.
I’m curious as to why it was thrown away? I’m a very inexperienced soap maker so it really is a serious question. Does it affect the soap so much it’s not usable?
It becomes lye-heavy which can cause irritated skin to users. Some are better at saving it than others.
@@ms.mcbride3803 good to know! Thank you for replying ❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹
@@mimiohnine Welcome to soaping; it is great fun!!! As Ms McBride mentioned, there is possibility of lye pockets (or fragrance pockets). In my case, I could have rebatched in crockpot, but didn’t have one. The soap literally looked like rocks when I tried to break it up. It was solid within a few seconds! Anyway, what you saw Julie do here was incredible.
but the final outcome is so beautiful 🥺
I'm just now watching this and honestly, I love it!! It reminds me of cherry blossoms floating on the sea. I bet it smells wonderful!! I'd buy a bar definitely! You do well under pressure. Keep at it beautiful lady!! 💗❤️🥰😉😁🙏🏼
Great save, I would have been inclined to say the heck with it. Nice to finally "see" you. Please tell us which fragrance caused that so we can avoid it.
It's in the description - WSP cherry blossom
I thought the issue was the temperature. Normally she pours the lye water while it's hot instead of after it has cooled....
@@SamuelsReview It's not temperature because most soapers used cooled lye. Julie uses the heat transfer method and although that works great and is easier in my opinion as well - most soapers don't use her method. This was 100% the fragrance oil which is always what causes these situations unfortunately.
@@christeef6840 Thanks for informing me. I'm a beginner and the only time my batch seized is when I attempted the non heat transfer method/ cold process.
It turned out really pretty 😍 I also learned what to do with accelerated soap... just rebatch it...so happy it turned out purdy for you 😊...
Nice save Julie! I've had soap on a stick ONCE in ten years! I rebatched it and came it looking like literal 💩 but smelled amazing! I love that this one came out so darn pretty! Whew!
Looks so pretty! The texture and redispersing of color after melting it down...it really works. I don't think you could have gotten that look on purpose. The super subtle swirls. So awesome.
We see you making lovely soaps and the beautiful results. I am soooo thankful you showed your not so perfect batter, but the....drum roll please...the lovely end result. And your lovely face. Thank you for being real.
That was crazy! That fragrance oil, instantly seized the batter. There was nothing you could do. (I would have cried.) But, you were able to save it, with a lot of elbow grease. ❤️
Nice to “see” you! When my soap seized on me, it went through gel phase in the pot and I was able to get it into a mold. It was a Lucky save for me.
I love your determination!!! The soap turned out beautiful! Time to put that fragrance oil on the naughty list!!!😀
Great save!! It will be a wonderful soap! Double milled!🤣 I think it's lovely!!💕🎉
What a wonderful surprise to actually see your face. Be great to see more of you again. I'm so glad you didn't give up and throw it away. You made a wonderful job of fixing a disaster, that all soapers fear. Awesome job. ❤️ 😍😍
And your determination paid off, it's beautiful! What a great idea to put some cold process on top and still put on your blossoms! I'm going to try to remember the next time I have to do a rebatch. The tops are the part that always look bad to me with re batch, but you made it beautiful!
Omg Julie! I finally get to see the face to all of these lovely soaps 😍 Amazing save, I can’t believe how fast it turned.
This turned out to be one of the prettiest batches of soap you have made. But let’s talk about how beautiful you are!! It was great seeing your face. The quick cameo gave personality to this batch of soap IMO. Thanks again for sharing your craft. We appreciate you so much!!
Wow, I can't believe how fast that soap turned hard! But you turned it into a beautiful bar of soap, great work Julie and I love the color.
Wow! All that hard work and determination paid off. That is beautiful soap!😍
Oh my goodness, Julie! You are my hero…definitely grace under pressure. What an endeavour. It turned out beautifully.💖❤️🔥
Wow!!! 🤩
You are a complete genus to bring that soap back & to see how stunning it is at the very end!!
You are such a beautiful talented lady! Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful video with us! 💛
Oh gosh, I would have shed tears too! I think the final soap turned out lovely in the end!
I love that fragrance. Glad to know what it could do. Glad to see you. I love you videos
Nice save!! Turned out amazing!! Thanks for sharing the not doing perfect projects. It nice to see people make awesome comebacks 💕
I saw the soap sieze on your IG and I'm so pleased to see the "ending" now. It turned out great! Small blessing that you were planning on a single color soap - I imagine the finished product is still in the ballpark of what you originally envisioned. Well done!
Bravo! They turned out so lovely with the patterning inside. The flowers are gorgeous, and sets them off perfectly.
This turned out beautifully! The single color helped to keep it bright even with the rebatch. Well done! I know this is a lot of work.💖
I've had that happen on new fragrances and since I often use a crock pot when I soap, since I do several batches, I just threw it all in a crock pot on low and went on to do other things. An hour later it had melted into a nice gel that came out as a really wonderful soap. I started soap making with re-batching and one of the things i love to do is let it fully set, then make curly shavings and put them in a clear melt and pour with a complimentary fragrance and use small cavity molds for unusual shapes with red and green swirls in them. People love those and never once guess it was a disaster at the beginning.
Great save! Way too much work, so yeah, new FO, but you did a fantastic job to save this batch and except for the rare bubble you would never know. Well done! It looks so pretty and i love your flower work. 😃
The different textures actually came out really nice!! 🤍💙💚
I love what you did with the top. I don’t like the crumbling and now I know how to fix it.
I was at the edge of my seat for this whole video!!! Wow, it turned out great after all that unexpected chaos! 🥰
It definitely looks like some kind of gemstone or sea glass inside! 😍
It still turned out beautiful, I love your work 😍!
the marble effect it had due to the rebatch is so pretty you definitely made it beautiful😍
OMG 😱 that is every soap makers worst nightmare - great save👏👏👏. Not sure how it would have turned out if it hadn't seized but wow what a nice outcome - very pretty.
Oh 😅My I felt your pain / frustration yesterday I had my soap 🧼 do the same and was heart sick 😢I plan on reheating an pray it will turn out !, your
Results are beautiful and I am encouraged!!,, Thank you Thank you so much for sharing this video ❤❤❤
Wow! Turned out great. I love it. See the whole experience and watching you overcome it. Great job and kudos for sticking it out.
Lovely soap - so pretty! This is the most awesome rebatch ever!!! 🥰
Wow! What an amazing save..... I really enjoyed seeing the oh so brief show of face behind the beautiful soap making.
Turned out better than I thought. I have those kind of days. You did a swell job saving it. It’s a beautiful color. Great job!
Love your “stick”tuitiveness (pun intended). Turned a mishap into a happy accident. Love to see you turn your struggle into a work of art. ❤️
That Cherry Blossom is a stinker to work with. My first batch was awesome (total fluke), second batch was pink soap on a stick.
You👏🏽did👏🏽that👏🏽!!! They look amazing!! I'm impressed and inspired!! 😅🥰
Omg Julie, I'm so proud of you for sticking this one out and ending up with a gorgeous soap in the end, I fully loled @ 2:00 bc i was about to comment "you totally need a salad shooter for future seizing and confetti batches" and out came the food processor! mind meld!! 🤣😘
p.s. I had this exact same thing happen with an Irish Cream Coffee FO! It was completely soap safe but I sourced it from a candle supplier who didn't have many soap relevant reviews at the time and man oh man was it a doozy! Luckily I was able to save it by shredding it (as I'd premixed my colors, Earth Brown mica and TD) and confetti it 50/50 in a batch of activated charcoal soap and made it look intentional. The IFRA usage rate on it was well over ten percent, so I used a "full" 5% in the seized batch, and with coffee being such a naturally strong fragrance even at 2.5% it was still lovely.
So awesome you saved the batch! It's giving me jade vibes which totally fits the floral element!
The blossoms perfectly embellish this color, elevating it from quite plain to rather chic.
So nice to see your beautiful face even for a second☺And as always you made it pretty after all! Quite a feat rebatching such a large batch to look so good, I've experienced the exact same soap on a stick from that fragrance when I'd only been soaping for 2 months and I've never braved it again since🤣
Only you could make that disaster look so amazing 💕 enjoyed seeing your face pop up for a sec
Never seen a soap seize that quick before 😱 but it turned into a beautiful bar anyway 💕 great to see the beautiful face behind these soaps☺️
We finally get to see the face! Great save on the soap :) I have never seen it turn almost solid so quickly but it was fascinating to see. Thank you for sharing.
Like flowers on water. So beautiful 😍 Phenomenal save!
Oh my goodness! 😮 wow! What a save!! 😎
Came out absolutely beautiful! 💕💙💕💙
It was also wonderful to see your pretty face.🙂
GORGEOUS!!!!!! love the color and the textured look inside.
You are a genius 😮 I never would have guessed that you could make a beautiful bar of soap out of that ❤
When you popped on screen I screamed!! Great job rebatching!! XOXO
So nice to see your beautiful smile behind the scene! Love your personality! Funny to watch even a failed batch turned success! Thank you so much for sharing. :)
Wow that was crazy fast!!!! Nice save!! It turned out beautifully ♥️
Sometimes the biggest mistakes have beautiful results... I love the marble effect.. it's different than swirling multiple colors together.. I think it came out beautifully.
We got to see the queen behind the magic for a brief second. Bucket list checked 😂
This is a really nice soap! The top is amazing and I love the way it looks on the inside. 🥰
So pretty and you handled that like a boss. Well done!
Amazing save!! It was so nice to see the process through. I had one of those and I just threw rosettes on top and covered my sins in glitter. Yours still looked 10x better. 😆 Also nice to put a face to the hands I've watched make soap for over 4 years! 😁
Wow! Beautiful! What a save! Your soap flowers are gorgeous!
I had a batch of green succulent and jasmine do that. Yikes!
Bravaaa!!!!❤❤ it's gorgeous!! Only a pro could make soap on a stick look that good.
Love it! Amazing save. I'm also very jelly. If I have to rebatch it always looks "rustic" you know complete with air bubbles and bumps. Yours came out gorgeous.
I caught hell when I used that Japanese Cherry Blossom! It is one of the most beautiful fragrances though. I had a client that only wanted me to make her that soap. After two hair pulling soaping sessions, I finally told her no when she asked me for a third batch. Lost the client but gained my sanity! It was a good trade off!
I would have been crying too, but you did an amazing job saving it! It was also fun to see you peek in :)
I'm not no experienced soaper by no means but what I have learned in my year of soaping when this happens to me I immediately throw it in the crockpot and rebatch it immediately and it has worked for me. You did a great job here and maybe I did it wrong but it has worked for me. Thank you for this because I always feel so overwhelmed when this happens to me
You are correct. You can absolutely do that :)
It’s gorgeous! Like others have said, it looks like jade. Love the contrast with the pink.
Oh my goodness! I would have just about died if that had happened to me. You’re a legend for having the strength to make it work despite the struggles.
That sounds like a great FO to save for HP. I’m impressed this is your first seized soap. I’ve had a couple of soaps seize, but I love how you show it. There’s a huge difference between acceleration and seizing, and this is a perfect example of the latter. You did a great job saving this batch. 👏
I occasionally rebatch to get that rustic look in my soap. Makes for a nice texture. I have had soap accelerate before, but never that fast! Must have been scary!! You made it work beautifully! YAY YOU!!❤️
Congratulations! You've unlocked a new soap texture to add to your collection!
Way to go Julie!!! Nice save!!!! 👏🏽
Honestly, I'm not sure the average person wouldn't be certain that it was anything but deliberate design. It's only us soapers that recognize a save when we see one!
Oh no!! I've had major acceleration but never soap on a stick. You still did a great job with it and I'm glad the fragrance survived the heat.
The gasp I let out when this seized! 😭 There was not a doubt in my mind that you were going to turn this into something BEAUTIFUL! As usual you blew me away!
That doesn't look bad at all! What a beautiful color! Rebatched soap looks awesome to me. Very rustic and a nice contrast to the smoother top with cherry blossom flowers! I had to rebatch the second soap I ever tried. It was definitely "rustic" but it still turned out a pretty shade of purple and worked nicely with the lavender scent!
Thank you for showing us the video, even of did not all go according to plan 💜
The soap turned out great!
Has a very beach glass look to it in the end, your persistence paid off 😍👍
your a queen of finesse, you finessed the life into that soap
What a great save! It turned out so pretty! Good job❤❤❤
I had this happen on my second batch of soap - the whisk was cemented into the batter. I hot processed it with great results - a little funky but excellent soap. Thanks so much for sharing 💙💙💚💚 By the way...I love how your soap turned out!
Been there, done that. Color is still very beautiful. I was shocked as soon as that fragrance went in, that was fast, so sorry. It hurts to watch it. You did great rebatching it. Amazing.
