TASM shows the transition from Bully Spiderman to Righteous Spiderman. He didn’t just become the selfless Spiderman. TASM shows Spiderman as an anti-hero not as a hero.
My favorite part of this movie is how it feels like a realistic interpretation of Spider Man. It actually feels like a teen getting powers and having to learn to be a hero.
The thing is everyone says this version is nothing like Spider-Man but what defines Spider-Man isn’t his nerdy counterpart or his powers it’s the idea that he takes responsibility even if he has nothing to do with it because he had the power to help And that’s Spider-Man someone who helps because if you can help someone you will help them because it’s there responsibility
As a fan of the Amazing films, I find myself in between a rock and a hard place. There is always this internal conflict between the troubled development history that prevented the release of more director-driven and personal stories vs the final films released in theaters. Both movies resonate with me emotionally (especially the second one) because of the more realistic and daring direction, but knowing what transpired behind the scenes gives me heartache, especially since this led to the cancellation of the series. The question I keep asking myself is "Do I find myself liking what the studio made or the artistic vision of a talented director?". The negativity surrounding both movies is hyperbolic, but understandable to an extent. I just see the positives vastly outweighing the negatives. In Zack Snyder's case, he shoots everything he storyboards. When his director's cuts get released, they are received far more positively (especially in the cases of Watchmen and Batman v Superman) because of more cohesive and detailed stories. It's simply the studios and producers wanting to make extra money rather than respecting an artist's vision. I'm still waiting on a proper Justice League film. #ReleaseTheWebbCut and #ReleaseTheSnyderCut
Honestly incredible how emotional and informative this video is. I always loved the TASM films but I have never loved them as much as you just made me love them. I got pretty emotional towards the end there actually. Such a good analysis of what message this movie is trying to send and how people are misunderstanding it. If you ask me, I took away miles more from this than I did from anyone else's TASM videos. You are crimnally underrated and I'm upset you don't have more subscribers views and likes. Thank you for making such an amazing video.
@@secondsister1816 u r a genius dear , many people will share the same opinion. Also people are going to prefer the original trilogy more than any other movies because they captured the essence of Stan Lee's and Ditko's spider-man not just because they were made first.

While I think it's easy to point fingers at Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach with The Amazing Spider-Man 2, it's not so simple with The Amazing Spider-Man. I still haven't properly settled on a video essay for this film myself yet. I keep trying to pin-point what MY issue with this film is, so all videos on my end on the matter of this specific film are obsolete. However I'll drop my thoughts: The Amazing Spider-Man 1 is a good movie. It goes for a more realistic timeframe with how Peter processes the different events of his origins, it tries to layer the character up by giving him goals as Peter Parker beyond a love interest, addressing the elephant in the room being his parents, the cast have great chemistry, the world it takes place in is well-thought-out, Peter's relationship with Gwen is far more straight forward this time around which is a relief. I get what it is people like about this film. But, regardless of studio interference, I don't think people were sold on this film as a lasting Spider-Man for the foreseeable future. The sequence of events of Spidey's origins take a lot longer to unload which most people including myself will consider a downgrade based strictly on preference. It's not a mistake on the movie's part, the audience just love the thrills of a Spider-Man film which were pushed to the back of this film. Spider-Man's origins usually have quite a roster of characters to unload on an audience but when you start incorporating his parents, that is a LOT to get the audience to roll-with just after the opening credits. And this Spider-Man is just, quite a far cry from the Peter Parker and Spider-Man that most audiences know. He's not really a character open to too much interpretation for the mass market because of his position as more of a cultural icon than just a straight forward fictional character. I think what Sony incorporated here was to make the film fit for mass market, and the two things don't blend, but if it were a straightforward Marc Webb movie, trust me, NOBODY would watch it. This doesn't mean that a new interpretation CAN'T work as a film, it does work, but many will have walked away saying "This just isn't my Spider-Man" and I am one of those people. There was just too much for a mass market stirred into the origins with the whole "untold story" stuff, there was too much familiarity with the film covering mostly old ground, and the whole "It's the realistic version" identity goes out the window the second Lizard rocks up with his evil plan to transform NYC into Lizard people (admittedly more of a Sony move). Overall, it's really not a bad film, it just doesn't stick. Also I'll be honest, these film sadly gets bungled in with the sequel which is what inspires most of the bile directed at it. That's something I am sure to correct myself on. That sequel is a LOT harder to defend. I absolutely see your point though and understand why you like it. There's a Spider-Man for every one and I feel bad that this one got cut short as it left a load of Spidey lovers hanging, but I don't blame the MCU deal for that, I blame the sequel which just wasn't properly thought through.
Channel Pup Firstly I just want to say that I literally watch your videos all the time and look up to you so it means a lot commenting. And also I agree, Sony tried to change Marc Webb’s goal in order to create a bigger audience, Marc Webb’s vision alone wouldn’t have sold as many tickets which is kinda sad. I spoke to someone who worked on TASM and apparently there was a whole different side to the Lizard, there were scenes about his child and his “failing marriage” which would have added so much more to the Conners instead of just making him a guy who can transform into a massive monster that the good guy has to beat. But if all the stuff with Conners marriage and things actually happened (Marc Webb’s vision) not that many people would watch it. Anyway thank you again 😊
@@HassanHamid I remember some of those scenes on the DVD, I don't think their inclusion would hurt the film at all. :) And I'm pleased to hear you say that. You've got a lot of promise and did a great job here. There's a lot that could have been left in to make the film more successful at it's ultimate goal and I fully agree with you that Peter Parker in this film has a lot of the key aspects of Peter's character in the source material. Heck I find myself when talking about this film, stopping, pausing, realizing, nah it's all there. I think this one was just a case of, unfortunately the audience just wasn't right, noble intentions but not properly calculated for mass success which is what any big film corporation wants. I think Marc Webb's commentary really helps to see a lot of where the film really shines, he's an excellent filmmaker.
Dude ur not alone tasm1 is my favourite live action but it doesn’t mean my love for the rami movies is forgotten. Tasm1 is something special modernising spidey in the real world.
Andrew Garfield has always been the best Peter Parker/ Spider-Man and I'm glad vids like this are out here to shine a light on that. To let folks know that some times we might start out in dark places as some what bad people but chances in life, we're all given chances to become heroes like Andrew's Peter did. This was the story Stan The Man Lee was telling with the character when Spidey comic first hit comic book shores
@@HassanHamid yo this video is good but what a prickish response. Imagine if high top said that shit to you after you said you loved his vid. Talk abt how Peter learned a lesson kinda seems like you need to learn one lol
I always loved both movies. I think they're just as great as the Raimi films. I see them as equals. I got really emotionally invested in them and they helped me through hard times.
I cannot STAND when people say Andrews acting sucks in the scene with Bens death. It’s 400 times better than Tobey Maguire getting a bit teary eyed over bens death.
I think Andres Garfield's acting in the scenes where he loses Uncle Ben and Gwen Stacey are some of his absolute best. Watching him navigate the array of emotions as he holds Gwen's lifeless body in his arms, and knowing he played a major role in her death BROKE ME. I truly don't see how anyone could think he was a bad actor in these scenes
Tobey’s performance is objectively amateurish, from his facial expressions to his emotionless line delivery, I’ll never understand the love for it beyond nostalgia but to each their own I guess.
@@crunchy1547 I agree. It’s not bad, like he does what the script requires him to do well, but he doesn’t go above and beyond to give a great performance
@@crunchy1547 My thoughts exactly. I've seen him in a few other films and I never really feels he gives an outstanding performance. It's very much what the script asks and nothing more. I just end up fishing him boring and passionless for the most part IMO
The thing that makes even less sense about people disliking the basketball scene if the fact that Peter did the same thing in the comics. Not the exact same thing with basketball but he did decide to get revenge on flash when he got his powers, he chose to fight him and then knocked him out in a single punch lmao. He only ended up saying it was an accident to avoid suspicion.
I don't see this Peter as a nerdy, science geek type of person, I see him as a smart, witty, punk, angsty, skater kind of teenager, and that makes it even better, it is a very good twist on Peter and it makes him seem more realistic AND believable.
Tasm was actually so good. People say ‘oh Pete isn’t awkward or bullied’ he’s an outcast in this movie, which is a different take and more relevant to the present day. This movie honestly is great and I love Andrew as Peter/ Spider-Man!
I love this one. The narrative and Peter’s character arc are really well handled. Lizard is probably the biggest weak point. Just not a great villain with all that’s on the cutting room floor.
TASM 1 is my favorite Spider-Man movie. Sure the raimi trilogy is more accurate to the comics or whatever but I feel like TASM nails the characterization of Spider-Man. If only the studio didn't fuck it all up.

It really annoys me that people say Lizard's plan in the movie is stupid. While I did grow up with the Rami Films and greatly enjoy the MCU Spider-Man, TAMS has always been special to me despite not being my favorite Spider-Man. I just wish these films and the people who worked on them were treated better.
In terms of how the character himself is written, it is my favourite adaptation of spider-man. sony and avi arad should've let marc webb do what he wanted to do with the production because I agree, it would've been a far better film.
Everything about this movie is just AMAZING. The cast, the soundtrack, the cinematography, and the swing are perfect! I'm glad I found my people here who love AG's version of Spider-Man.
I'm halfway through the video and I gotta say, your editing is amazing! (pun intended). It's very well done and I already agree with your standpoints. Andrew is my favorite Spider-Man and TASM 1 is my comfort movie.
Only recently getting onto the Spider-Man side of RUclips, have I realized that my love of this movie isn’t a guilty pleasure, it is a genuinely great movie, and not something to be ashamed of. This video really hits the mark. Thank you for making this video.
You put a lot of effort into this, and you did an Amazing job. Feel pride for this, because you did great here. Also, I never truly noticed the fact that the premiums of the story was basically Peter looking for his father. And each father figure he had; died or got arrested. And it really brings to light the fact that he's becoming a Man. This really helps me understand This Peter/Spidey because I'm working on/off on a fanfiction story for this Spider-Man. It's called; Spider-Man I: The Raven's Mark. That and, I literally just got out of a job with a poor manager, at a Daycare. I'm a writer, dreamer, and organizer by heart and skill. And a Historian, Librarian, and Writer by trade. Dealing with what I did wasn't easy, hearing both Andrew and Uncle Ben after dealing with this job, losing my last Grandparent, dealing with this year; it nearly made me cry with joy....I'm crying right now.... Sometimes, we do need someone Like Uncle Ben, sometimes we need insperation like Spider-Man, and the understanding of Peter. Thank you, Hassan Hamid.
i like to pretend that the second TASM movie doesnt exist or atleast isnt a valid addition, its entertaining, but it completely ditched the human every-man element of spider-man. even as a TASM fanboy i struggle to defend it.

I like how everyone hated the idea of spideys origin being redone in the mcu and now we actually want to see it again. Because having a uncle ben is better than having a tony stark
Great essay man, I can definitely see a new HiTopFilms in the making😁. I don’t know if you’re aware but if you’ve seen early trailers for the film, there are many scenes that were reshot such as Peter giving Connors the equation was originally him writing it on a chalkboard akin to his dads office at the start of the film (possibly the original version of the film) and the deleted scenes allude to the final act playing out differently after the school fight and peter following Connors into the sewers with the Ratha scene, so I definitely think there’s an alternate version of the film because the film never really tells you ‘The Untold Story’ either, and so I think these scenes allude to how the film originally would’ve played out in Webb’s vision and before Sony’s interference.
Dude I love you aready I have never seen anyone put more attention and love to my favorite spiderman. It goes to show that not everyone dislikes these movies and even if someone does there's always something that even they like about it because you can see that everyone tried and worked hard. So what I wanna say is thank you man
This is a great movie, I like the suit the cast is brilliant The basketball scene cinemawins explains perfectly why that scene works, that its all about cause and effect...peter showed off with his powers getting him into trouble meaning ben had to go to the school so he had to swap shifts and work late meaning he couldn't pick may up. He asked Pete to pick her up and whe n he didn't because he got invited to dinner by gwen and was helping the dr Connors, leading to an argument with Pete and ben which ends with peter storming out and getting into a disagreement with the shopkeeper and when he asks peter for help after he gets robbed.... Well we all know what happens then, point is this chain of events began the moment pete showed off on the basketball court
The Amazing Spider-Man 1 definitely took the cake for the most lore explained in a Spider-Man movie and the usual Spider-Man and Peter Parker scenes in here are just so cool

Andrew is probably the Peter that is closest the the comics because Peter is supposed the be relatable and Andrew’s Peter is the most relatable.
The thing is everyone says this version is nothing like Spider-Man but what defines Spider-Man isn’t his nerdy counterpart or his powers it’s the idea that he takes responsibility even if he has nothing to do with it because he had the power to help
And that’s Spider-Man someone who helps because if you can help someone you will help them because it’s there responsibility

Well, they will release the Snyder Cut.
Let’s hope they release the Webb Cut.
By far the most comic accurate, even the storyline with the lizard is comic accurate
I’m glad people are starting to appreciate what mark Webb and everyone else did for the character
Thank you for making such an amazing video.

lil dripnation I like Spider-Man. He is my favorite superhero (aside from the Hulk).
Extreme facts
I agree
Finally I find someone who actually loves the amazing Spiderman movies
While I think it's easy to point fingers at Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach with The Amazing Spider-Man 2, it's not so simple with The Amazing Spider-Man. I still haven't properly settled on a video essay for this film myself yet. I keep trying to pin-point what MY issue with this film is, so all videos on my end on the matter of this specific film are obsolete. However I'll drop my thoughts:
The Amazing Spider-Man 1 is a good movie.
Channel Pup
Firstly I just want to say that I literally watch your videos all the time and look up to you so it means a lot commenting.
You don’t have to forget your love for the Raimi movies to love the TASM movies.
Modernizing Spider-Man in the real world is what I loved about the TASM series.
While Tobey and Tom are great Spider-Man, I just love Andrew more. His Spider-Man, His quips, his acting. He’s just…
*Amazing.*

Tired of comic book movies where the studio tries to hide the filmaker's voice.
This is so true.
@Asher Copaken I don’t think he’s bad and i wasn’t insulting him. It just annoys me when people think his is great but then say andrew is trash
Andrew Garfield is the best spider man a 3rd movie should’ve happened
FACTS
@@retrozity no it’s an opinion
I wanted a 3rd one but amazing Spider-Man 2 was so bad that I can see why they canceled it
The thing that makes even less sense about people disliking the basketball scene if the fact that Peter did the same thing in the comics.
This movie honestly is great and I love Andrew as Peter/ Spider-Man!
but a shitty take on the comics
This is my favourite superhero movie of all time
The chemistry between peter and gwen is amazing ... Amazing spiderman is also silently an amazing lovestory

This movie is so underrated
This is the version of Spider-Man that most of people fell in love with even Stan lee.a hero can everyone relate to.

So what I wanna say is thank you man
This is a great movie, I like the suit the cast is brilliant
The basketball scene cinemawins explains perfectly why that scene works, that its all about cause and effect...peter showed off with his powers getting him into trouble meaning ben had to go to the school so he had to swap shifts and work late meaning he couldn't pick may up.
Thank you for making this
uncle bens death was much more emotional in this movie imo
The Amazing Spider-Man 1 definitely took the cake for the most lore explained in a Spider-Man movie and the usual Spider-Man and Peter Parker scenes in here are just so cool
