Thank you so much to you and Monika for all you have done for my dad, it’s amazing the amount of joy the recognition and new friends has given him! Thank you !
It was such a treat to meet Graham through this well produced video and admire his collections. His love of mudlarking and history preservation is palpable in the many displays he’s so thoughtfully and beautifully displayed to share with others to admire. I feel honored to learn about Graham and all of you are lucky to have his friendship.
Thank you for presenting this wonderful story of one of the ‘Fathers’ of Mudlarking. His hard work and scholarship have been a valuable resource for London’s historical record.
I started metal detecting in the mid 80's and it was seeing photos of the finds of mudlarks and people mudlarking in the magazine Treasure Hunting that really inspired me to go out and look for traces of our past. I went on to work on archaeological excavations and then on to do a degree in archaeology and pursued it for many years as a career. It was seeing the finds of Graham and the others that inspired a life long love of the past. Thank you.
I love hearing the stories of the mudlarkers from days gone by. What a collection Graham has and what an honor to be made a member of the Guild of Freemen of the City of London! Thank you Nicola for making such a wonderful video to honor Mr de Heaume.
Yes thank you both for letting us see and hear him. I am totally hooked on mudlarking videos. Glad the new applications for permits has opened am sure they will be overwhelmed by applications
Right on ,Monica!! What I particularly Lille about this video is how it was made showing how all of you over there love and respect Graham so very much. You were there,at that lovely moment of honor.
Oh Nic, you are a very worthy advocate for the world of mudlarks...I'd be proiud to call you my daughter. I know, I know it sound corny but I mean it. You give people who are worthy of recognition, like Mr. duHeaume, their day in the spotlight. You are a good person and a great model for your children.
A heartfelt, gentle portrait of such a truly special man and his collection. Graham has contributed so much to saving the everyday objects that bring history alive. Wonderful video and wonderful man - you capture the twinkle in his eye perfectly Nicola. I shall watch this several times and share it with family and friends, thank you.
I'm born in 1970,so he has mudlarked my whole lifetime.I love those ships behind him. Whitby has just waved farewell to a beautiful spanish galleon, currently heading for Scarborough.
Thank you so much for sharing Graham's story it is heartwarming and a joy to hear him tell of his adventures and the joy of memories. What a wonderful legacy.
What an incredible man, and a spectacular collection! The 70s & 80s were clearly halcyon days for amateur archaeology & metal detecting. I remember in the 90s, reading in the hobby mags stories by Gordon Bailey & "Roman Ron", where it was still possible to wander onto any East Anglian field, gain permission and be tripping over pottery sherds, worked flints, Roman tiles & centuries-old nails.
Can you imagine what treasures are still lost in the layers of sediment along the shore and in the depths of the river. I'm so happy that folks are saving history. Great stories.
Hi Nicola, what a lovely video. Nice to meet you Graham. Your artifacts are spectacular. Thank you for sharing your history. Thank you Nicola for this beautiful video. Joyce from Connecticut, United States ❤️🙏🇺🇸Old New England
Love it! Thank you and Monika for helping celebrate with Graham -- and be a part of a vibrant mudlark community which soothes and heals the stress and tough times of everyday life, by delving into the mud and finding bits and pieces of long-ago everyday life....
Awe that was so lovely, seeing Graham's enthusiasm and joy talking about his loved collection of knives. I enjoyed this post very much Nicola. Thank you for sharing. Graham, your collection is amazing. 😊
What an honor to receive this prestiges pin to proudly wear on your lapel or wherever you like. Graham you worked along time dug many holes and found many beautiful objects many people will be able to enjoy for a long time. Blessings to you Graham. Congratulations. 😊
I Love talking and listening to that generation! They are like walking time machines! Movies and documentaries are cool to learn History! Reading books you get to use your imagination. But these people make history come alive! Especially if they are closer to a hundred years old they can take you back in time because they walked it,held it, and most importantly lived it!
This is an award-winning video, you have outdone yourself,Nicola, truly. The old photos are as priceless as the old items that Graham has found. I was absolutely captivated by this one,and will view again soon
Very nice présentation Nicola. It's everything good about London. ❤. Grahame duHeaume seems like a lovely person, mudlarking, learning, collecting, and sharing his knowledge with the community .

From digging 6ft holes sixty, seventy years ago, to many, many groups and clubs and associations, all around the country! It was so strange to hear that they could dig deep holes way back then, but as the hobby expanded to many, they had to reduce the diggings to much less, like 3 ft for fully fledged and permit carrying mudlarks, to just scraping the surface for others.
