I just want to drope a note from the US. I am recovering from lukemia and a bone marrow transplant, which means alot of tv. I stumbled on your page, and im hooked, and the water sounds and birds. It is very calming.. now then, thank you for putting this out.. i have learned so much!!
I've been rescuing old albums for 20 years now Nicola! So glad to hear you did that. I find the families descendants on my ancestry account. I also add the photos on Find-A-Grave.
i have a family member that collects them and records the history of the family in them then logs them in a room she has in her home like they are books. some people donate them to her and tell her everything they know about the family in the photos. she collects the ones from local families to keep up with the history. it was how i found out i was related to one of the first families to settle in my town i currently live in and that i have a really distant family member from way back then with the same last name as my friend's who's entire family is from this town. there's a chance i am very distantly related to himin some way which would mean my other friend who's his distant cousin could also be related to me in some way. rescuing old albums is why a lot of families find new family members they didn't know they had or could possibly have.
i sometimes ask about things if they are really old or have a history i am interested in even if i don't buy them. it's just fun to hear about them. my mom once got me a 1950's doll from a guy who's wife used to own it before she passed away. he didn't know much other than the type of doll and what year it was made.
Well Nicola, I am not so sure about those doll heads! They scare me. I never had a doll growing up. It's funny because my two older sisters had dolls and clothes and their own carrying cases and once I, the third daughter came along, no more dolls. But I loved the clay pipes overload - that had me tickled pink along with your pottery shards! What a great day out! I loved seeing your daughter Grace. She is beautiful, just like your son! 🐥♥️🐤
Nicola thank and thank Simon for this wonderful video. When the two of you work together you always find some great historic treasures. By showing them and explaining what they are and how they were used is very informative. I'm older than you, but I'm still learning new things every day, and with your help you provide a venue of expansive intelligence. Cheers!
Your daughter is lovely!! You are much too young having children that have a little age on them! And I know you have a much older son. Such a lovely visit to the foreshore. Always love an episode when you and Si Finds collaborate. Oh, you're going to Chicago! I grew up near there and it is, for the most part, a lovely city. Wonderful museums. Fabulous restaurants, especially Italian. The lake is phenomenal and very cold. I never found bottles or other things in it, but I did find fossil remnants of coral, Petoskey stones, and circular remnants of crinoids we used to call wampum (it wasn't truly wampum). I did live across the street from an old home where the occupants threw their trash on the side of a hill. I had a good time sorting through that, but I think it was a bit dangerous, rusty tin cans and all. The woman who lived in the house would fuss at me if she caught me but I didn't care!
Happy Easter, Nicola! I hope you enjoyed a lovely holiday visiting with Grace. I remember her being a teenager just a few years ago, and now she's a lovely young woman, even if a cheeky one! As always, some brilliant finds and great seeing you out with Simon. Enjoy your trip to Chicago in a few weeks. Pity it's almost 2 000 kms away, or I'd defnitely be up for a meet-up. Please travel safely.
Happy Easter, Nicola and Grace! Great finds with Si Finds! So many pipes in one spot! Wow!! I feel the same about the photos. It is a shame there was no one to pass them on to!
I’m always so sad when I see old photo albums for sale. My husband has put copies of ours on a hard drive and given them to family in case our albums get sold after our passing. I learn so much history from you and Si. Happy Easter.
I know I've said it before but Grace is an absolute beauty!!! I love the photo albums you rescued! Wish I lived closer to Chicago, would be awesome to meet you!❤
Happy Easter!!! YES!!! URBAN MUDLARKING!! I enjoy a channel called Paper and Moose, and she does rescue many old photo albums and researches who they are and what they did. She especially loves WWII Era stories. She would love your creepy doll lamp, as she loves Halloween, clowns, and has a group of "Isle of Lost Toys" she can't leave behind at auctions! She(Renee ) could be your sister in spirit!! Stay well!!🥰🥰🥰
Thank you. You find the dove ring was perfect as I'm watching this on Easter, I really needed that sign. My oldest son was one in the hospital at Easter and a dove flew on the window casing, I really needed that sign.
Hello from Brisbane Nicola. Thanks for another great video. I share your obsession for old photo albums and purchased quite a few from my local flea market when I lived in Tokyo. My favourite contained many 'artistic' shots of people, villages and the countryside. In a few, a shadow gave me a hint of the photographers identity. Near the end I discovered a wonderful photo of a young boy standing proudly next to his camera mounted on a tripod. He was wearing western clothing which along with the camera suggest the album was from the 1920s.
Happy Easter, love it when you and Si meet up, love the ring and was amazed how many pipes came up in one spot, lovely assortment of shards, nice to see Grace back
Hope you had a lovely Easter. Thanks for keeping me company as I was all on my own today...Hubby's a Physician and was on service. You look absolutely steller in that cap. Your beautiful blue eyes. Lovely video. THANK YOU.
Happy Easter hunny bunny 😂 Thank you for the wonderful video. You two (Si and Nic) seem to have such a nice and easy friendship. It is good to see in these stressful times. ❤️
Hi Nicola Happy Easter your looking Gorgeous Today and nice to see Si and your Daughter Grace, Your Urban Mudlarking is a great idea and i would like to see what you find also it is nice to have some history to go with your finds. I know Deptford well i used to live there until i was 8 yrs old then ventured east to Greenwich, Deptford high street was my favourite Saturday shopping day i went with my nan helped carry bags then Goddards Pie n Mash shop occasionally to Manzes Pie n Mash n Liquor Jellied eel's Those were the day's LOL .I look forward to your Urban Mudlarking video's i like Old things and the history behind them it's a never ending reality but i dont think in the next 100 yrs it will be as interesting as most things found then will be Plastic, Glass not as unusual lots of the same, Pottery is sort of the same Chugging out of factory's by the Thousands not as interesting, Nowadays as a lot of old pottery is by hand and designs painted on or crafted is so much more satisfying to hold and see craftsmanship of years gone by. Sorry for the book Nicola wishing you and your Daughter and Si a Happy Easter to you all take care God Bless. Gerry
What a nice video to watch, and so nice you were together with your friend Si. fantastic bowl he gifted and I loved all the shards of pottery and china. Yes I would love some urban mudlarking videos. Great to be graced with Grace, for a few moments. SO happy for you having your family come home for Easter. Spring and Easter greetings to you, as well as my cowatchers from Maple Ridge BC.
Hi Nicola, another great video, your doll lamp was very ingenious, you are very creative, and hello to Grace eating her Easter egg breakfast good luck with your Uni, love the nature shots. Have a great week and be safe. Neil from Canada, Oh, I forgot to add I love your Canada toque.
Urban Larking - that's a good idea. My son went off to Uni and then decided to stay on some 150 miles from our home. We are staying there this Easter, Happy Easter.
Just found your channel and am binge watching. I love hearing about all the history behind each object. That blue pottery piece looks like two men with some type of army hats and are holding guns.
I recently went through my Mom's cedar chest that had been in storage. Inside were photo albums and my baby book along with 2 more belonging to my brothers. I also found a 1936 High School senior ring that belonged to my Dad and few other treasured items but the photo albums were burned. I did remove photos that I could identify before the burn and we chose to do this so that they would not end up in a garage sale etc one day. It was sad but something we had talked about before hand. I enjoy your videos and keep on searching the shores. Peace!!
Hello, I just found your channel and I want to be in the mud right along side you. Looking for treasures! I live in a very, very old town in the state of Montana. The Missouri River runs through here and so many boats came up the river. I'm always looking for treasures. Thanks for the fun to watch channel. Happy hunting🙂
I really can't pick a favorite - everything you found was awesome. Ok, the dolls head is AMAZING, and so is the lamp!! Thank you for rescuing those albums and their history. Yes more please. This whole episode made me smile. A blessed Easter to you and yours and sending you much love ♥Teresa xx 🇦🇺♥
Another great video! Auspicious start with the Westerveldt fragment and the Tudor nit comb. Have a wonderful trip to Chicago (I grew up there). Take a walk along the Bloomingdale Trail / 606 Line to experience the city’s history and beauty (it is an old rail line that has been turned into a park). St Mary of the Angels, one of the most beautiful churches in Chicago, is next to the trail.
OMGoodness, your cheetah print chair back moved, as your daughter left the room, and I've got to admit that it freaked me out because it looked like a furry snake moving 😂🤦♀️😁 Happy Easter Nicola and Grace 🥚🐇🎉🍭 The transferware piece with the lady looks like Marie Antoinette 🤔
Happy Easter to you and your family 🍫🍫. I would love to know more about the old photos and the story behind them. Have fun in Chicago 🤞🤞. Great day out, thanks for bringing us along 👏🙏❤️
I would love for you to do some urban videos. I have a large collection of old photographs of women, bought at postcard fairs, flea markets, charity shops and antique emporiums over the years and like you I find it sad that no one wanted these photographs. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to trace the families. I know I’d be very interested if someone could give me photos of my ancestors. Thanks for another great video.
Firstly, Happy Easter!! Re: the photos. When I lived in New York City, I went into a junk shop and they had a big box of photographs. I didn’t have a lot of money to throw around but I bought a handful of them. There were a few portraits from different eras and 4 with what appeared to be of the same children, two girls and a boy, taken a few years apart. I was lucky because there were some names on the back as well as the embossed and rubber-stamped names of the photographers. There was enough information that I was able to identify them and find census records for them. I was also able to find other family photos on line of family reunions from different years and I was able to fill out details of their lives. It was so interesting! You never know what you’ll find!
Always love a Nicola Si lark! What a lovely bowl and your daughter is lovely. And let’s face it the eccentric lamp made me laugh. Happy Easter Nicola! Have a great time in Chicago and I hope someday you’ll make it to Atlanta for a meetup!
Oui, oui, oui! Urban photo mudlarking est une idée merveilleux...J'ai visité les champs de bataille en Belgique et en Normandie...J'attends avec impatience!🤩
Thanks Nicola. camera was a but jerky just in case you hadn't noticed. The transfer ware is always intriguing just seeing snippets of a scene. The blue one with the couple with horses and a tent reminds me of South East London. Could be romantic idyll of gypsies rather than a drawing from life. Your enthusiasm buoys the spirit and now got to find more info/angle on that image. We think of urban areas as being just that but in C19 commons were still inhabited and the rural ways were never far from the suburbs. Gateway to the past as ever, looking forward to the next one.
Hello, new subscriber here. Just want to thank you for taking us along on your mudlarking adventures. I'm about 85% mobility disabled, walking on flat even surfaces is okay for me, but muddy surfaces full of debris would take me down pretty quickly, and then my genetic immunodeficiency would take advantage of any cuts or scrapes sustained would likely finish me off (laws forbid!) So, filming and posting your searches is my ollnly way to experience this kind of stuff. Thanx, so very much!! One suggestion when excavating pipes and stems is that I've noticed that you (and almost all others) lift the little pipe stems first in hopes of finding a buried bowl still in the mud? There's every chance that what appears to be stems only DO have a bowl coming off and remaining in the muck as you exteact the stems. If you dig a scoop of mud starting a little further from what you expect to be the bowl end, you may find quite a few more complete pipes than you are getting now? Just a thought. On the subject of very old discarded clay pipes, why do you suppose so many were chucked into the Thames?
Urban mudlarking sounds brilliant! I regret not buying a box of used postcards in the Oxford covered market once. I wish I had so I could research the family and send them to their descendants. I feel the same about people who live in converted churches. I'd keep the graveyard tidy and trace relatives.
Love the dolls head lamps. I’m also planning to do one. Putting them in a shadow box was a really good idea. Say hallo to your lovely daughter from me. Makes me miss my own, all grown up, kids. Have a great Easter.
Hi Nicola, it was great to meet you on Sunday, Mia was absolutely delighted with the pipe, she has been showing everyone the video. Kindest regards, Jim, Jennie and Mia
Happy Easter Nicola I so enjoy watching your adventures wish I could be there I’d love to find a pipe those look so cool I love history and wonder about the people who owned these items
I found an old album in a flea market years ago. It had postcards and pictures from the early 1900s. There was a German colony in India back then. And pictures of men on elephants looking for tigers and the suez canal. I tried to find the family for a long time. Finally gave up an donated it to a state history agency.
Thank you so much Nicola for the chocolate egg yum .. I love that you collect the old photo albums .. I've always thought the same thing, all those memories they hold. Love the ghostly woman's face you found, she's so mystical ❤
I get very exciting when you and Si are together. You guys have great chemistry together!
I just want to drope a note from the US. I am recovering from lukemia and a bone marrow transplant, which means alot of tv. I stumbled on your page, and im hooked, and the water sounds and birds. It is very calming.. now then, thank you for putting this out.. i have learned so much!!
HAPPY EASTER! HAPPY SPRING! HAPPY MUDLARKING! HAPPY DAYS! 🐰🐤🌼
Don't forget Happy autumn! 😊
Love the ring and eggs! Thanks so much for plugging my channel, and I can’t wait to explore with you in Chicago!
My pleasure Bryce. Not long now! It's snuck up on me so quickly. Can't wait to see you guys soon
I've been rescuing old albums for 20 years now Nicola! So glad to hear you did that. I find the families descendants on my ancestry account. I also add the photos on Find-A-Grave.
Brilliant! Thank you for doing that ❤
That's excellent! I want to do that. I think that is a wonderful thing to do.

That would be an amazing idea! Urban mudlarking with a deep dive into its history! Yes!yes yes! I’m here for it. ❤your videos and you are so precious.
Thank you ❤
i sometimes ask about things if they are really old or have a history i am interested in even if i don't buy them. it's just fun to hear about them. my mom once got me a 1950's doll from a guy who's wife used to own it before she passed away. he didn't know much other than the type of doll and what year it was made.

Another dolls head phobic here! Never had dolls as a girl, preferred my teddies😆
i love dolls. my oldest one is from the 1950's and in really good condition considering the time since it was made.
Nicola thank and thank Simon for this wonderful video. When the two of you work together you always find some great historic treasures. I rescued an old leather bound Victorian album once and even tracked down the living descendants. So satisfying.❤
Love the bowl and the dollie head!
Can't wait for all your next videos. The photos wow hope you find things about them very interesting 🤔
Hello,
I just found your channel and I want to be in the mud right along side you.
Looking for treasures!
I live in a very, very old town in the state of Montana.
The Missouri River runs through here and so many boats came up the river.
I'm always looking for treasures.
Thanks for the fun to watch channel.
Happy hunting🙂

I come for relics and stay for the beautiful mudlarking woman ❤😂
Thanks for a great video from my two favourite mudlarks.

Simon is such a dear. You guys are so much fun to watch.
OMGoodness, your cheetah print chair back moved, as your daughter left the room, and I've got to admit that it freaked me out because it looked like a furry snake moving 😂🤦♀️😁
Happy Easter Nicola and Grace 🥚🐇🎉🍭
The transferware piece with the lady looks like Marie Antoinette 🤔
Haha sorry!
Happy Easter to you and your family 🍫🍫. I would love to know more about the old photos and the story behind them. Have fun in Chicago 🤞🤞. Great day out, thanks for bringing us along 👏🙏❤️
A pleasure to meet your daughter, Grace. Wishing you both Happy Easter! Thanks for the chocolate. Another lovely mudventure.
I wonder if garnet beads were ever used as rosary beads. That could explain the hole. Just a thought. Thanks for taking me along!
I always like it when you two team up.
Hi Nicola, another great adventure! Thanks for sharing
Happy Easter , wonderful video , loved it , peace ✌️
Happy Easter, Nicola! What a lovely gift Si gave you! It was good to see Grace today!❤

Oh and I loved the doll lamp❤
Loved watching this Easter Sunday. Hello from Seattle USA
I love the idea of the urban mudlarking!
So entertaining and interesting love the doll's head 💫✨
Could the "chaps in the garden" actually be sailors in an imagined oriental setting?
I thought they looked like hikers. Thought they had walking staffs in their hands.
Oui, oui, oui! Urban photo mudlarking est une idée merveilleux...J'ai visité les champs de bataille en Belgique et en Normandie...J'attends avec impatience!🤩
Merci!
Happy Easter, now that doll head looks really creepy!!!!!
I would love to see your urban mudlarking.
I love the sweet doll head.❤ Also, the ring.
Love your toque!! 🇨🇦
Nicola she's a beauty. I know you are very proud of her. Have a wonderful blessed day.
Fun lark! Always good to see Simon! #ItchyBoots

On the subject of very old discarded clay pipes, why do you suppose so many were chucked into the Thames?
Love the little bowl Simon gave you! The doll head looked super scary until you cleaned her up. 😊 Great video as usual!
Every time you find one of those ROAB pipes all I can think of is the Fred Flintstone cartoon and his club “The Loyal Order of Water Buffalos”. lol
I'll mention that next time I find one 😂
❤ love watching the videos you share. Loved the doll head you found. I'm watching you from Tacoma, Washington.
Thank you so much!
Happy Easter nice to meet your beautiful daughter in this video.
Hello Nicola, hope you had a lovely Mother's day. Lots of glorious finds in the River Thames. I especially liked the Olive Branch Dove ring.
Hi Nicola, it was great to meet you on Sunday, Mia was absolutely delighted with the pipe, she has been showing everyone the video. Kindest regards, Jim, Jennie and Mia
Happy Easter and researching the photo albums would be very interesting!
Happy Easter Nicola I so enjoy watching your adventures wish I could be there I’d love to find a pipe those look so cool I love history and wonder about the people who owned these items
urban mudlarking sounds great!
Love the wee ring .❤
Luv to hear what you dig up historically with photo albums❤❤❤
I found an old album in a flea market years ago. It had postcards and pictures from the early 1900s. There was a German colony in India back then. And pictures of men on elephants looking for tigers and the suez canal. I tried to find the family for a long time. Finally gave up an donated it to a state history agency.
Thank you so much Nicola for the chocolate egg yum .. I love that you collect the old photo albums .. I've always thought the same thing, all those memories they hold. Love the ghostly woman's face you found, she's so mystical ❤
