Take my hat off to you sir. Your offer to take people and help them get their licence shows you are there to help share from the experiences u have been through since living there.
Kev thanks for the updated and precise information. I will be applying for my retirement visa after my six months' waiting period and this really helps to see what I have read about. Great video mate.
Thank Kev.Was in Pattaya for year before moving to Pakchong.Been ripped twice now with regard to my returememt Visa. The very confusing for the uneducated. You made it simple Cheers Bruv !
+Kev-In-Thailand Thanks for the reply guvnor !.....That's the big difference between your channel and all the others....... if something is pony you tell it straight....... it makes such a refreshing change... your showing the REAL life in Thailand....... not just the Mary Poppins BS....
That is extremely helpful, esp the bike licence. I'm due over in September and will probably take advantage of taking the test. bizarrely I will then be able to obtain a bike licence in France where I live simply by showing them the Thai licence .........and save myself a fortune!
Good useful info, i will be moving to Thailand next year and its good to find out the practical things you need to do. You have now gained a new subscriber!
Great video Kev, thanks for the insights. Moving to Thailand in about 6 months, and retirement visa seems the way to go for anyone over 50. Cool. #Cheers
I get a international driving licence from the post office in the uk,I have a car licence full past test before 2001 so I have a moped on it that all I need, been stop many times in Thailand and the police are happy with my international licence, cost of licence for 12 months £6.50 happy days kev.
Thanks for the info Kev, I visit Pattaya very often and according to my Thai wife it is not possible to get a motorbike licence unless you are a resident so next time I am there I will go get my licence.
Very useful info Kev as I will be coming to stay for three months+ in the not too distant future. I'm also looking forward to you moving the "the dark side" Actually looking to stay about three months out of every year for the rest of my life!
+Kev-In-Thailand Yes I know why not live out there permanently? Well its something me and a mate have been talking about for ages when we retire. I'm already retired (early) and my mate will probably be retiring in a couple of years. He dosen't want to live there but he could always change his mind. we like the idea of wintering in the sun and coming back to blighty in the spring. It's all up in the air at the mo what with family and such. Thanks for the offer of help, I just might take you up on that but not anytime soon (shame)
Great info Trev. Always wanted to know about a thai motorcycle licence, and how to get one. Seems a very simple process once you know. Better than trying to obtain one in the UK, practically have to jump through a fiery hoop to get one there.
+Kev-In-Thailand Thanks Trev, visiting Pattaya for three weeks on 24th May, might give it a go, have a 125cc bike in UK. Thanks for the reply (subscriber No 175).
Beware that it is actually not a new visa! It is an extension of your permission to stay in Thailand. One of the documents you really need to take care of is the little paper that is stapled in your passport that you get when you enter Thailand. A visa is only needed to enter a country and can only be given to you by an Thai embassy/consulate outside Thailand preferably your own country. The extension of permission is done by the immigration office. For a one year extension on a non-immigrant 'O' retirement you need 800.000 baht in the bank (at least 3 month is best) or proof of income of the same amount or proof of income together with money in the bank as long as it is 800.000 it should be no problem. If you plan to travel within the year then you can also get a re-entry permit. An extension of stay costs 1900 baht, a re-entry permit also 1900 baht. All of the above is the same if you have a non-immigrant 'o' marriage except the amount in the bank/income is 400.000 per year.
if you can show 800,000 Batt over the year with income etc. Do you still have to show you have 800K when you go for the visa i.e. You don't have 800k in your account but you had it over all for 1 year?
Another GREAT VLOG--Thanks! I wish I would have known about the motorbike license years ago. Everyone I asked always made it sound impossible. I knew they didn't really know, but I didn't have a reliable resource to find out. Maybe we can connect on my next trip?
+Kev-In-Thailand No, only a car driving license in America (Columbus, Ohio). I've been frequenting Pattaya for 15 years and always have to drive the back roads or park the bike. Sux.
Thanx KeV! Good info !! Next time I'm there I'll get Bubbles to sit my test ,!! 😂Then I can have a few beers and He can drive me home !! 😱👍🇨🇷😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Hi Kev. Great videos. Very nice to have a look at Pattaya. Never visited Thailand but hoping to in the near future. Was looking at Koh Samui, but after watching your videos of the place i'm thinking it may be a little too quiet. Pattaya looks a better bet. Bit more night life.
+Steveooo Hi Steve, I wasn't looking to put people off of Koh Samui but as a single guy or even a few guys going on holiday its a daytime beach resort, I showed it on video the manic night life ( yawn ) Pattaya is 24/7 and as lively as hell but again if you came to Pattaya with your Mrs she would not be happy unless she is very understanding ? So in my opinion Koh Samui for Couples / Honeymooners Pattaya for the lads !
+Kev-In-Thailand Thanks for the reply. Think the mrs will enjoy Pattaya more than samui, she loves a bit of night life, a few drinks and loud music. As long as she can get on the beach for a couple of hours she'll be happy. Keep up the great work with the videos.
Hi kev..one of the best vlogs I've watched about Thailand.learned a lot and will take you up on your help..would be useful to get my licences to drive out there..hope things are going well there? See you soon
great info on the visa process, thanks. Licence stuff good too but I'll never drive on the roads, the roads there scare the hell out of me lol I'll Uber it.
hi Kev great blog today as always... tell you what my son I'm up for some of that.. sort it out.we can do a blog Together about it.if nothing else it'll be a good laugh if nothing else. let me know
Another very informative and enjoyable vlog and the information provided is much appreciated, even though I don't need any of it right now I know where to return to for a refresher when that time arrives. You're covering positive and informative subjects here, such as bike & car licenses and immigration. This is the important stuff people really need to know who spend a lot of time in Thailand. Drop me a message of a time and day you're next down Take Away and I'll join you for a cuppa.
I don't get the Visa thing. If you have a retirement visa, why do you need a multiple entry visa as well? Can't you just come back in on a 30 day visa on arrival and rely on your retirement visa after the 30 days??
Hello kev great information cheers do you have any information on opening a Thai bank account is it possible for someone who comes to Thailand a few times each year for holidays or do you need to live there
+martin astbury I came to open a bank account in September 2014 i was here for the first 2 weeks of September and was coming to live in December, You need the money in your Thai bank account for 3 months, While i was here in that time i sorted an apartment and gave them a deposit which started in November they gave me a dummy contract starting September and once account was open they changed it to November, Once you have contract of where you are living you then take this and your passport to Immigration to apply permission to open a bank account you need the stamped letter of permission from Immigration to take to the bank with your passport, Cost for letter is you guessed it 200 baht !
Dear Sir. Great to see you. Please Sir can I take a moment of your time. Thank you for being a Gent. Good film. I was wandering about how much money you need to show you have to last the year is there criteria for that. I am in my 40s I can you fill me in on all the best things in visas tested, proved best ways, for me to visit Thailand. Very good film Sir. Thank you From Craig Lee White.
Hi Kev,Very interesting stuff as I'm on my way to retire in Thailand from the beginning of July. You mentioned the other day that you were after bits for your Gopro that you couldn't get in Thailand, I saw that first hand in Tuckom where I had expected to get bits cheap!! If you want to list the items you want and the model Gopro you have, I will happily pick them up for you.Cheers Tony
+Tony Prowse Hi Tony, Thank you for your offer the sponge cover is called a windslayer or windshield they come in a 2 pack if you could please pick me up 2 packs they aren't expensive and if i find any before July i will obviously still pay you for them as they probably don't last too long anyway ? I have a Gopro Hero4 silver
+Kev-In-Thailand No problem Kev, cheap as chips on ebay, different story from GoPro! I have the GoPro Hero 4 black, and it fits all, so if you get sorted I will use them.
Kev Just up date on a Point from UK Driving Lic Authourity They will Not Issue a new Driving licence if you are resident overseas My case 73 free Renewal of UK Driving licence every three years so Only if I am Resident of UK not if you live overseas so I checked on UK Car Hire They will not allow you to drive in UK on the two year Thai Licence must be 5 year one so If you dont have perminant Home in UK they wont issue you a Free or any UK Driving Permit You have to Re submit when you get back to UK which I find inconvienent Unable to Hire Car while waiting For DVLA
Hello Kev, great info on the licenses. I am in USA waiting for my first Retirement Visa. I am moving to Hua Hin in June and will visit your town as well as Chiang Mai. Can you share those bike test "study guides" you mentioned? Thanks for the videos.

Hi Dion, I don't know about getting your bike licence in Phuket, In pattaya it is easy i would have thought the same everywhere in Thailand but then TiT ?
+Gary Knight Hi Gary, The driving licence car and bike first licence is for 2 years they call it temporary and then after first 2 years you get 5 years and renewed every 5 years, It used to be 1 year temporary they changed it to 2 years last year. Hey Kev, Great Vlog, I will be in pattaya on the 1st of June for 5 weeks. A few vlogs back you said yopu were going to do a vlog on appartments and rooms on soi leenky, actualy in the buildings and talking about prices, Could you let me know when you will be filming,, Many thanks....PS We can meet for a pint and have some laughs.

Very very informative Kev. My dream is move over there and get a retirement visa. You gave great and easy to understand information, l never knew getting a car and bike licence was as simple as that. Just one question.... What cc bike can you ride over there now????
Useful vid, thanks. Question: You said 'they' filled the visa renewal form for you......was this the immigration center, or the photo shop, you were talking about?
Kev do I need to do my Thai test ? I have UK Motorbike and Car License do I have to answer the 50 questions I visit my wifes Thai family in Chiang rai I always have international License...
+Ted ski Hi Ted, Rents are generally a little bit lower in Jomtien but i want to be in a very quiet peaceful area and wanted something more like a house than an apartment that's all.
Hi Kev, just to check you mention it is easy to get a thai driving licence even when one comes into Thailand 2-3 times a year. However a certificate of residence is required and that usually involves having a unit under your name or rental contract which tourist coming in 2-3 times a year would not have. Please advise
Get a reciept from the hotel your staying with the full address, J E Concierge are sorting licences in Pattaya Tai, Make sure you bring your UK licence with motorbike on it and an International drivers permit !
Kev-In-Thailand Correct me if I understand you correctly, a temporary stay at the hotel address is allowed at Chonburi Immigration when applying for a certificate of residence to get a driver’s licence?
hi kev can u tell me where I can get the application for a bike licence? my English licence has a bike on it so just switching over really. I'm sure I seen a video of urs where u show u got it in Canterbury tales cafe in soi chiayaphum but can't find it!! also where do I need to go with the completed app'?? thanks in advance 😀
Take my hat off to you sir. Your offer to take people and help them get their licence shows you are there to help share from the experiences u have been through since living there.
Very clear advise, Thanks

wanted something more like a house than an apartment that's all.
