Hi. Thanks for the walk through! I just created one that will link to my sons medical sheet. It is going to be so much easier at the doctors offices and hospitals now if I forget his document during emergencies!!
I so appreciate your tutorials! Well done and what a brilliant solution for creating free dynamic QR codes! Question: Is it possible to redirect an existing, static QR Code? I have one that printed on a huge batch of business cards. Unfortunately, it leads to the wrong url destination. Thanks in advance!
It depends...if the destination URL is from a provider that permits, a redirect may be configured [either a Permanent (301) or Temporary (302)]. This would be something you'd need to inquire to the hosting provider with.
Hi Doug, great video. Is it possible to create a dynamic QR code that links back to the data in the A2 Column rather than a URL? I ask because I am using the QR codes for check in data for an event. The check in Data (name / seat / time) will be in the A2 column rather than a URL. I want to be able to edit the data if need in the A2 column but keep the QR code the same. Is that possible? Thanks!
IGNORE: Problem found: Don't know what the issue is, but using a QR app that HAD worked before, and creating a QR Code for a google sheet, all I could ever get is some of the most obnoxious ads on the web. I tried 5 different QR apps on my phone and all gave the same result. Never once did it link to my google sheet page.
@@DougHExcel Sorry Doug, I found it at 1am and did not get back to edit my post. Ever since an "update" to Linux Mint 19.3 the copy paste function has either not worked at all while in web pages or spotty at best. I had manually typed in the code, and embedded in the middle was and extra = sign. No error was generated but what I noticed was regardless of the target URL, the QR Code was identical. Thanks for the great video and sorry for the delay in fixing the post.
I am trying to create a code to a shared spreadsheet for score tracking. I cant seem to get it to link back to the sheet. can I put this in the same same sheet at the QR code or does it need to be in a different one completely
Hi Jeylan Kasiem, thanks for the comment! There various options to take the link to the simple (menu viewing) to complexed (menu viewing, ordering and payment processing). Look to some companies that provide like Shopify, Toast, or Square.
So I’m trying to make a QR code that goes directly to specific sheet that will represent a bin on my eBay inventory.the problem is when I copy link on the specific sheet it just brings me to the main google sheet. Any help would be awesome thanks.
It's dependent on the supplier that supports the QR code so if the supplier is not a stable organization, then the expectation that it'll be around in the future is low, but in this case the api is given by google so if you expect google to be around (and support it) then it'll be pretty stable.
Thanks Doug. A useful and interesting post. Thanks for sharing it. Thumbs up!!
Hi Wayne, Glad you enjoyed it!!

Very useful!
Glad you thought so!
Can you make a QR code with let’s say the a2 column and the d4 column?
Probably not separately so maybe concatenation into another column

Is there a scan limit for the QR Codes?
oh darn...don't know...
is this qr code permanent (no expire)?

@@DougHExcel thank you for the information
How do you get the QR out of the sheet as an image?
Use the screen capture tool to get it. Windows use Windows + Shift + S. MAC use Shift-Command-4
is this a dynmaic or static qr code?
Both, the second part of the video shows how to make a dynamic QR code
