The music, lyrics, tone in his voice..the audio definition of bittersweet. I was born in '91, but I so love the music of the 80s. Y'all were on a deeper level back then. Peace.
Molly I dont think we were on a deeper level, it was just a time, electro pop was born, new romantics, a new era. It was a birth of news sounds for our generation, I am so grateful I grew up in the Eighties and so glad you like our sounds xx
Unappreciated? This song blasted like hell, it was all over the radio and tv. It was one of the most appreciated songs in its time. I thing it still is well rated arround.
This has been my favourite si since day of release, closely followed by- the lotus eaters - first picture of you, Blancmange - waves, China crises - wishful thinking, Yazoo- nobody's diary, the assembly - never never.❤
That is so true ! Even though I'm more of a 60's and 70's man - I must admit that for POP music this was a golden era. I've never bought as many 45 singles as I did during the 80's and well into the 90's. Every week I bought from 2 or 3 to 4, 5 or 6 singles - and one hit after another just kept pouring out. And there were so many talented Artists and Bands that were struggling to reach the highest positions on the charts. But then, around 2000 it all suddenly died out. These days, perhaps I hear one POP song per month that has something similar to what was being cranked out every week during the 80's. "Rolling In the Deep" was a good one - and it gave me a flashback back to the 80's when I heard it - but it's really hard for me to think of any other really good ones from the last 2 decades. There are still some good music being made - but they are not what you can call POP songs.
Heaven is closer now today The sound is in my ears I can't believe the things you say They echo what I fear Twisting the bones until they snap I scream but no one knows You say I'm familiar, cold to touch And then you turn and go Feels like heaven Feels like heaven See how we planned for saddened eyes And tears to pave the way I fought the fever as I knew My hair returned to gray Study your face and fade the frame Too close for comfort now We can recall the harmony That lingered but turned sour Feels like heaven Feels like heaven You wanted all I had to give See me, I feel, see me, I live Feels like heaven (Heaven is closer) (Heaven is closer) Feels like heaven (Heaven is closer) (Heaven is closer)

I remember getting one of those “Now that’s what I call music” tapes, I think it was no. 2, and this track was on it. I’d just got my first car, after five winters on motorcycles. Knackered rusty Ford with a whining third gear and wouldn’t pull the skin off a rice pudding it might have been, but I’d fitted a decent, used stereo and twin spotlights, and making the run home to Guildford from a weekend with my girlfriend in Salisbury, inevitably very late on a Sunday night, I felt like a king. The car is long gone. I’m still with the same girl ❤ Love this song.
A. C. M. ...absolutely. Such a good song about Lucifer's sad , pointless descent from the gardens of paradise, into the lonesome desolate world of savage desire in his fractured heart. ..and now look where we find ourselves...in a demented state where the unsympathetic tyrannical grip of the banking system of globalists & corporations weigh down heavy upon our poor collective consciousness 's, like an avalanche of back-breaking steel/concrete mixed gravity. Where pathetic cries of "Alluha Akbar" are attempting to make us lose our way from visions de l'âme éternelle. .....or something. 🎩

The lyrics are so deep to me. "Heaven is closer now today" to me means he feels close to death at having lost her! I love 80s music for having suck dark lyrics set to upbeat music. Like Enola Gay, etc!
There is no best generation. All generations are good. There are good and bad music all the time. And of course people like the music they grew up with the most.

(best time of life..)
I would love to go back to the 80s.
My dad's funeral today...

49 in August, makes me feel like a teenager. Takes me back to my typical council estate secondary school in Birmingham with no cares in the world apart from Girls😂😂, awesome times
Nach so vielen Jahren bin ich immer noch verliebt in dieses Lied❤
Dieses Lied kann man nuuur lieben....🥰😋😘❣️
The music, lyrics, tone in his voice..the audio definition of bittersweet. I was born in '91, but I so love the music of the 80s. Y'all were on a deeper level back then. Peace.
couldnt be more agreed, love ✌🏻 🌠
yes we were
Molly I dont think we were on a deeper level, it was just a time, electro pop was born, new romantics, a new era. It was a birth of news sounds for our generation, I am so grateful I grew up in the Eighties and so glad you like our sounds xx
Well said
Life was so different back then.
Song is brilliant, and unappreciated. Gives me chills every time I hear it.
Unappreciated? This song blasted like hell, it was all over the radio and tv. It was one of the most appreciated songs in its time. I thing it still is well rated arround.
At the time, but unfortunately you never hear it on tv or radio now. They prefer playing shite

I agree..one of the best songs ever
A forgotten masterpiece.

Surprised they weren't bigger than they were - his voice is just amazing - my favourite song of the 80's is Fiction Factory and Feels like Heaven :)
This has been my favourite si since day of release, closely followed by- the lotus eaters - first picture of you, Blancmange - waves, China crises - wishful thinking, Yazoo- nobody's diary, the assembly - never never.❤
Ich, 30, die auf dieser wundervollen Musik hängen geblieben ist. Danke Mama&Papa ❤
Well done mum and dad but not stuck on this music its a choice
Dieser Song wird von vielen geliebt ❤❤❤❤

One of the great songs of the 80s. A brilliant decade for music
"Rolling In the Deep" was a good one - and it gave me a flashback back to the 80's when I heard it -
but it's really hard for me to think of any other really good ones from the last 2 decades.
There are still some good music being made - but they are not what you can call POP songs.
This track hits the heart strings. Just sheer class.
thats because we didnt realise what crap would be around now ! lol@thomasfarrell9134
Can't Get OVER The FACT This SONG is already 40yrs old
Wundervolles Lied aus einer längst vergangenen, schönen Zeit ❤🫠
Heaven is closer now today
The sound is in my ears
I can't believe the things you say
They echo what I fear
Twisting the bones until they snap
I scream but no one knows
You say I'm familiar, cold to touch
And then you turn and go
Feels like heaven
Feels like heaven
See how we planned for saddened eyes
And tears to pave the way
I fought the fever as I knew
My hair returned to gray
Study your face and fade the frame
Too close for comfort now
We can recall the harmony
That lingered but turned sour
Feels like heaven
Feels like heaven
You wanted all I had to give
See me, I feel, see me, I live
Feels like heaven
(Heaven is closer)
(Heaven is closer)
Feels like heaven
(Heaven is closer)
(Heaven is closer)
Thank you!! I'm listening to this while on phone and can't look at the lyrics and listen to this masterpiece simultaneously. Your comment changes that!

The best music comes from the 80's and this is one of them.
People who don't realize this just haven't heard songs like this. Once exposed to it they come to the epiphany.

When I scroll trough this commentsection, I see many “Old” people who lived during the 70’s/80’s. Well, here I am, a 16 Year old boy born in 2002. I mainly listen to modern rap/hiphop, pop and rock. But when I listen to this... I don’t know. It’s just beautiful. Music is timeless...

Many wonder what the 80’s was. The eighties was a sound.
A classic that sends a chill down your spine everytime you hear it ❤
one of those songs that came out of nowhere and remains a classic to this day
Nothing these days comes close to this, classic song very underrated.
80s music: Feels like Heaven
2010s music: Feels like Hell
I turned 50 this year, this fantastic gem is from my youth! Love it!!!

I turn 50 in March next year. This was our era. And great as life can be - nothing has been quite this good since. Halcyon days.

I’m still with the same girl ❤
Love this song.
One of the best songs ever! I've never gotten sick of it. Never will.
Yup, it's a quality tune. It's in my daily play list..
It's a classic tune ☺
A. C. M.
...absolutely.
🎩
Pure class, fantastic! On other word!,,
would listen to the song over and over and over again...
The 80's Amazing!!❤

A song as old as I am ✨
I was born in 82 and still think it was the best decade. The last free childhood, best cartoon movies and music.
Being a teenager in the 80's is the best and only way to really feel good
I can agree with that. I was born in 86
90's is the greatest generation.

Despite the easy and basic chords this beautiful song evokes so many wonderful feelings. Loving it until now. No songs of today can measure up to what was made back in the 80s.
The lyrics are so deep to me. "Heaven is closer now today" to me means he feels close to death at having lost her! I love 80s music for having suck dark lyrics set to upbeat music. Like Enola Gay, etc!
I am 51 and 80s best gend in music one iv my favourite songs the singers vocal and ability ❤❤❤❤❤
What ?
There is no best generation. All generations are good. There are good and bad music all the time. And of course people like the music they grew up with the most.
What a beautiful Song! I must Always think about my first Love!
I miss her! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
The greatest song of the 1980s never tire of listening to it , haunting melody ,how I miss the 70s and 80s , I’m 65 now where did the years go.
These guys from Perth, Scotland were not prolific at all, it was like all their efforts when into this song, and what an effort it was. Simply sublime!
an everlasting masterpiece into musical eternity...my youth memory will never die thanks to this song....
This takes me back to family holidays in England 1980's. Very innocent times, pure simple joy back then. Didn't have a care in the world, no mobile phones, tablets, or pc's. What we had though was family
was such a better place then.
Sheptonsmallet - Feel the same over here 🇺🇸
Exactly. I despair for what we have become sometimes. Would I want to be a child now? Not for anything.
Yes, kids these days just don’t have families. Look at them just sprouting out of no where with no parents whatsoever
